Analysis of the Effect of Quality Control Circle on the Central Sterile Supply Department

Objective: To analyze the effect of quality control circle on the central sterile supply department (CSSD). Methods: The control group and the observation group each consisted of 180 instruments received by the sterilization supply center from January to March 2023 and 11 CSSD staff. The control group underwent routine management while quality control circle was implemented in the observation group. The quality of work, disinfection and sterilization qualification rates, disinfection and sterilization of various instruments, cleaning indicators, and management satisfaction of both groups were compared. Results: The observation group scored higher in terms of work quality, the qualification rate of disinfection and sterilization in each link, the disinfection and sterilization of instruments, and cleaning indicators compared to the control group. Besides, the management satisfaction of the observation group was higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: A quality control circle ensures the quality of work, improves the cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of instruments of the CSSD, and improves the management satisfaction of the CSSD staff.

Application of Quality Control Circle Activities in Improving the Integrity of Equipment Preparation for Posterior Cervical Surgery

Objective: To explore the clinical effects of quality control circle (QCC) activities on the preparation of instruments, team cooperation and clinical satisfaction of posterior cervical surgery. Methods: The clinical randomization table was used to select 100 patients who underwent posterior single open-door laminoplasty in the Department of orthopedics of our hospital from January 2020 to January 2021 as the study subjects. In the experimental group, quality control circle activities were used to prepare the surgical instruments before operation, including 32 males and 18 females, with an average age of 58.3 ± 10.5 years; The control group did not use quality control circle activities to prepare the surgical instruments before operation, including 27 males and 22 females, with an average age of 60.5 ± 9.8 years. First, the "quality control circle" activity group was established to carry out quality control circle activity steps such as theme selection, plan formulation, status analysis, goal establishment, problem rectification, specific implementation, effect evaluation and effect evaluation. The database was established by software, and the t-test and chi square test were used for statistical analysis to compare the pre-operative instrument preparation rate of the two groups of patients undergoing cervical posterior single open-door laminoplasty. Finally, the improvement of team consciousness, nursing knowledge, nursing quality, consciousness response and other qualities of all circle members in the experimental group before and after the use of quality control circle activities were analyzed, and the clinical satisfaction of patients and their families, anesthesiologists and chief surgeons with the operation and the integrity rate of equipment preparation were compared between the two groups. Results: The overall integrity rate of the instruments in the experimental group was 90%, and the overall integrity rate of the instruments in the control group was 74%. The integrity rate of the instruments in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.01). After the implementation of quality control circle activities, the team consciousness, nursing knowledge, nursing quality and consciousness reaction of the circle members in the experimental group were significantly improved compared with those before the implementation of quality control circle activities, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.01). The overall satisfaction of patients and their families, anesthesiologists, and chief surgeons in the experimental group was 92%, 88%, and 90%, and that of the control group was 76%, 68%, and 74%, respectively. The overall satisfaction of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05); The integrity rate of surgical instruments preparation in the experimental group was 90%, and that in the control group was 74%. The experimental group was significantly higher than the control group (P < 0.01). Conclusion: The application of quality control circle activities can improve the integrity of instrument preparation for posterior cervical surgery, improve the satisfaction of patients, family members and medical staff, and improve the quality of surgical care.

Application of Quality Control Circle in Promoting the Use of Rubber Dams in the Root Canal Treatment of Primary Teeth.

Objective Study the effect of quality control circle (QCC) in promoting the usage of rubber dams (RD) in root canal treatment of chronic pulpitis in primary teeth. Methods Set up a quality control group to increase the amount of rubber dams used in the treatment of chronic pulpitis in primary teeth. Monthly monitoring results of the usage amount were counted by the outpatient computer system. Relevant data were collected through questionnaires, and causes of low utilization were analyzed, and the improvement measurements were formulated and implemented. Quality control circle activity was evaluated. Results Through the quality control circle activity, the consumption of rubber dams in the root canal treatment of chronic pulpitis was significantly improved, children in treatment became more cooperative, and operation time of root canal treatment has also been shortened. Conclusion The quality control circle activities played a significant role in promoting the use of rubber dams in the root canal treatment of primary teeth, and it can be used as a method to promote new clinical treatment programs.

Corresponding Application of quality control circle in reducing the incidence of moderate or severe malnutrition in gastric cancer patients under chemotherapy

Objective To explore the effect of quality control circle(QCC)on reducing the incidence of moderate or severe malnutrition in gastric cancer patients under chemotherapy. Methods Before the activity (February to March 2016), 146 gastric cancer patients under chemotherapy were selected as the control group, and regular nutrition nursing (dietary guidance and regular nutrition-related health lectures) was given. After the activity (February to March 2017), 139 gastric cancer patients under chemotherapy were selected as QCC group, and the standard intervention of quality control circle was implemented. The nutritional status of patients before and after improvement was compared. Results After finding the cause and formulating and implementing the measures, the 24-hour consultation rate, the incomplete remission rate of nausea/vomiting, the incidence of cancer anorexia, and the rate of missed visits in QCC group were significantly different with those in control group (P<0.05). The incidence of moderate or severe malnutrition was 16.55% in QCC group and 65.07% in control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01). Conclusions The quality control circle activity can effectively reduce the incidence of moderate or severe malnutrition and improve the quality of life in gastric cancer patients under chemotherapy. It can also improve the self-discipline and initiative of medical staff and improve the quality of medical care. Quality Control Circle improves self-monitoring of blood glucose in Type 2 diabetic patients

Objective: To determine the effect of quality control circle (QCC) activity on self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG) in type 2diabetic patients. Design: Pre-test Post-test study. Setting: Outpatient clinic of a tertiary hospital in Eastern China. Subjects: A total of 110 insulin-treated type 2 diabetic patients. Interventions: Quality control circle. Main outcome measures: Quality of self-monitoring of blood glucose and blood glucose control in patients. Results: At the end of QCC activity, the proportion of patients performing regular SMBG and the frequency of SMBG were significantly increased. The incidence of using expired test strips, incorrect timing of blood glucose monitoring, improper operation and non-calibration of meters were all significantly decreased. Consequently, the levels of glycosylated hemoglobin,one-week fasting blood glucose, and one-month incidence of hypoglycemia were significantly decreased in these patients. Conclusion: The QCC activity plays an active and beneficial role in improving SMBG and blood glucose control in patients with diabetes. This activity should be promoted in future clinical work.

Effects of quality control circle activity on reducing the rate of surgery delay and cancellation in hypertension patients with day surgery

Objective To explore the effects of quality control circle (QCC) on the rate of delay and cancellation caused by raised blood pressure before in hypertension patients undergoing day surgery. Methods We formed a QCC team and carried out the activity reducing the rate of delay and cancellation caused by raised blood pressure before in hypertension patients undergoing day surgery . From July to October 2015, a total of 248 hypertension patients were selected in control group (before activity) . And then, we implemented investigation of the current situation, collected data and set targets by QCC activity. From November 2015 to February 2016, a total of 276 hypertension patients were selected in experimental group (after activity) . Finally, we evaluated the effects of QCC activity after implementing improved measures. Results After carrying out QCC activity, the standard-reaching rate of preoperative blood pressure raised from 89.52% before activity to 94.93%; the rate of cancellation and delay before reduced from 9.27% to 3.62%; the medication compliance increased from 7.26% before activity to 13.40%, the satisfaction of nurses added from 90.72% before activity to 95.65%, and with significant differences (P<0.05) . Besides, there were improvements in techniques of QCC, communication skills, problem-solving skills, work enthusiasm and team spirit among team members. Conclusions The implementation of QCC activity effectively reduces the rate of delay and cancellation caused by raised blood pressure before in hypertension patients undergoing day surgery, improves nursing quality and patient' satisfaction, enhances nurses' overall quality. Besides, it reflects the importance of preoperative nursing intervention and promotes ordered as well as efficient operation in work specification of day ward. The effect of quality control circle on the hygienic performance of nurses in the digestive system

Objective To explore the application effects of quality control circle(QCC) to improve the executive condition of hand hygiene among nurses in digestive system department. Methods QCC group was set up and the activity theme was established as Improve the execution rate of hand hygiene among nurses in digestive system . Afterwards, the inventory survey of hand hygiene executive condition among nurses in digestive system department was implemented.The defective condition was defined as hand hygiene was not carried out when there were hand hygiene indications.Problems and reasons due to the unsatisfied hand hygiene executive condition were analyzed according to the previous investigation results.The main reasons were established as weakness of hand hygiene knowledge and consciousness, insecure command of hand hygiene indications, lack of supervision and assessment, as well as absence of rewards and punishment system.Then corresponding countermeasures were drawn to carry out.Survey of hand hygiene execution rate was done again at the end of activity to evaluate the effects. Results The hand hygiene execution rate among nurses in digestive system department was significantly elevated from 49.17% to 80.83%, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01). After QCC, the executive rates of hand hygiene at the moments including before touching patients, after touching patients and touching the surrounding of patients were significantly higher than those before QCC. Conclusions Application of QCC management method is beneficial to improve hand hygiene execution rate among nurses in digestive system department. The application of quality control circle in quality management of pre-analytical phase

Objective To explore the effect of quality control circle in decreasing the unqualified rate and improving quality of specimen in clinical laboratory during the pre-analytical phase. Methods The laboratory department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University established quality control circle management model, since March 1 st to June 1 st 2016, following the steps of the theory and method of quality management. Used professional tools of quality control circle to solve existing problems before procedure. Then compared the disqualification rates before and after the implementation, and used chi-square test for statistical analysis. Results After activity of quality control circle, the unqualified rate of specimen in clinical laboratory declined from 0.565% to 0.220%. The difference was statistically significant (χ2=155.22, P<0.01), the goal achievement was 86.25%, the advance rate was 61.06%. And the ability of employees in using scientific means have improved. The ability of using quality control tools increased by 33.3%, the problem solving ability increased by 9.3%, the coordination and communication ability increased by 125%, the team cohesion increased by 56% and the enthusiasm increased by 20.7%. Effect of quality control circle on improving the quality of pre-hospital care in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction

Objective To improve the quality of pre-hospital care in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) by quality control circle (QCC) . Methods From August 2016 to February 2017, the QCC activity on the theme of the quality of pre-hospital care for patients with acute was carried out in Zhengzhou Central Hospital. The factors influencing the pre-hospital treatment of 79 patients with acute STEMI were investigated. In addition, the reasons were analyzed, so as to formulate and implement the corresponding countermeasures. The rate of bypass and the change of site disposal time in patients with acute STEMI were observed. Results After the QCC activity, the bypass rate of the pre-hospital patients with STEMI increased from 58.2% to 91.7%, and the site disposal time was shortened from 42.1 min to 29.3 min, and the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05) . Conclusions QCC activity has an obvious effect on improving the quality of pre-hospital care in patients with STEMI, which significantly increases the bypass rate and greatly shortens the site disposal time. At the same time, it improves the comprehensive quality of QCC activity team members. Application of quality control circle in improving the correct rate of intravenous chemotherapy path selection in lung cancer patients

Objective To explore the application effect of quality control circle (QCC) management tool on the correct rate of intravenous chemotherapy path selection in lung cancer patients in Oncology Department. Methods QCC group was set up and the activity theme was established as improving the correct rate of intravenous chemotherapy path selection in lung cancer patients. The whole process consisted of status investigation, goal setting, cause analysis and countermeasures implemented according to quality control principle. The choice of intravenous chemotherapy path before and after QCC activity and patients' compliance to the choice of intravenous chemotherapy path were observed. In addition, 8 aspects abilities' improvement of every member in the QCC group were investigated before and after the activity. Results After carrying out QCC, the correct rate of the path choice for intravenous chemotherapy of lung cancer patients increased from 38.14%% to 58.74% (P<0.05) , and the progress rate was 54.01%. The proportion of patients' full compliance increased to 93.97% from 79.52% (P<0.05) . The QCC members' 8 aspects abilities improved by 14.71% to 80.77%. Conclusions Applying QCC in managing and monitoring the intravenous chemotherapy path selection can effectively improve the correct rate of path choice, so as to ensure patients' safety in intravenous chemotherapy. Effect of quality control circle in clinical pain care

Objective: The aim of this study is to observe the effects of Quality Control Circle (QCC) in clinical pain care. Methods: A total of 140 patients admitted in our hospital from September 2016 to September 2017 were selected and divided into the control group (n=70) and observation group (n=70) by the number table method. These patients had varying degrees of pain. The control group was offered with conventional clinical nursing, whereas the observation group subjected to the QCC. The two groups were compared with respect to pain improvement, nursing satisfaction, nursing quality, and work efficiency. Results: With respect to number of pain cases, the observation group has significantly fewer cases of moderate and severe pain than the control group. There is statistically significant difference between the two groups (P<0.05). The observation group achieves higher rate of pain knowledge assessment of nurses, positive pain informing rate of patients, rate of satisfying pain nursing records, timeliness with regard to the handling of patients with pain score ≥ 4, and overall satisfaction of patients with respect to pain management than the control group (P<0.05). The control group was inferior to the observation group with respect to teamwork, confidence, enthusiasm, and communication and cooperation scores (P<0.05). Conclusions: In clinical pain nursing, QCC is conducive to pain alleviation, increases nursing satisfaction and work efficiency, and improves nursing quality. Thus, it is worthy of clinical use and positive promotion.

Effect of quality control circle activities on improving exclusive breastfeeding rates in department of obstetrics

Objective To explore the application effect of quality control circle (QCC) activities on exclusive breastfeeding rates in department of obstetrics. Methods The QCC, with the theme of improving exclusive breastfeeding rates in department of was organized according to implementation rules. Factors influence exclusive breastfeeding rates in department of obstetrics were analyzed, so that corresponding measures could be made and carried out. Results After implementation of QCC activities, the exclusive breastfeeding rate in department of obstetrics was improved from 35% to 85%, with an achievement rate of 111.11%. Conclusions The QCC activities can effectively improve exclusive breastfeeding rates in department of obstetrics, which can provide clinical guidance for the popularization of exclusive breastfeeding in department of obstetrics, and can promote development of a baby-friendly hospital. Application of quality control circle in shortening treatment waiting time of hospitalized patients with lymphoma

Objective To explore the effects of quality control circle (QCC) in the treatment waiting time of hospitalized with lymphoma. Methods QCC activities themed with shortening treatment waiting time of hospitalized patients were launched in Department of Lymphoma in Beijing Cancer Hospital since March 2016. The status quo was studied in accordance with quality control procedures, followed by problem analysis and root cause verification using QCC methods and scientific statistical methods. And finally, reformational measures were mapped and carried out accordingly. Results After QCC activities, the admission time of hospitalized with lymphoma were reduced from (182.47±22.41) min to (97.70±14.63) min (P<0.05) . Conclusions QCC activities can help to shorten the treatment waiting time of hospitalized with lymphoma, optimize admission procedures and improve nursing quality. Application and effect of quality control circle in improving the overall quality of new nurses

Objective To explore the application and effect of Quality Control Circle (QCC) in improving the overall quality of new nurses. Methods Totally 6 QCC teaching activities were conducted in 6 pilot departments throughout Suqian Hospital of TCM, which involved 31 new nurses as an observation group, while another 46 new nurses from other departments received the traditional one-to-one teaching model as a control group for 6 months. Their comprehensive competency composed of theoretical knowledge, practical skills and on-site reply examined by the steering group from the Nursing Dept. was compared, in addition to their average core competency score measured with Competency Inventory for Registered Nurse (CIRN) . Results The 6 QCC activities for the observation group showed better scores, and the new nurses in this group had better theoretical knowledge, practical skills, on-site reply as well as core competency scores than the new nurses in the control group (P<0.01) . Conclusions The QCC teaching model can improve new nurses' theoretical learning, practical ability and core competency and contribute to their better comprehensive quality, thus worthy of further promotion in clinical practice. Application of quality control circle in the off-bed activities at the early stage after the funnel chest operation

Objective To explore the application effect of quality control circle(QCC) in improving the compliance of off-bed activities at the early stage after the funnel chest operation. Methods The quality control circle group was set up, with the theme of improving the compliance of off-bed activities at the early stage after the funnel chest .The relevant factors were analyzed and countermeasures were formulated and implemented as well.Standardized processes were set up on the basis of the combination of the confirmed effects and the clinical practices for the continuous improvement. Results The compliance of off-bed activities at the early stage after the funnel chest operation was improved from 13.3% to 56.7%(target value 53.5%)(P<0.05). In addition, constipation and complication was both improved to some extent after the implementation of quality control circle, the comprehensive scores of QC ability of the team rose from (19.50±4.116)to(2.42±4.158)(P<0.05). Conclusions The implementation of QCC improves the compliance of off-bed activities at the early stage after the funnel chest operation, reduces constipation and promotes the patients' rehabilitation.Meanwhile it improves the quality of nursing service, which not only enhances nursing quality and benefits in the construction of nursing team. Quality control circle in improving the acceptance of nurses to PDA

Objective To investigate application and effects of quality control circle in improving the acceptance of nurses to PDA. Methods Group of quality control circle was established to improve acceptance of nurses to in Elderly Cardiovascular Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University in July 2015. Current situation investigation was done and target value was set. It was reported that the main reason for the low acceptance of nurses to PDA included unstable wireless network, nurses' unfamiliar with the software, attitudes of nurses to partners, improving the efficiency of nursing work, inconvenience of carrying PDA. Countermeasures were designed for the main reason, organized and implemented. Results After the implementation of quality control circle, the acceptance rate of nurses to PDA increased from 69.8% to 93.45% which achieved the aim rate of 90.42%. Usefulness, ease of use and learn ability, rate of trust and satisfaction in the application of PDA in nurses were better than before the implementation. Conclusions Application of quality control circle improves the acceptance of nurses to PDA and provides evidences for further promoting the usage of mobile nursing information system. Analysis of the effect of the quality control circle activity on the management of hand hygiene for medical workers in Tibetan hospital

Objective To explore the application and effect of quality control circle on the management of hand hygiene for medical workers in Tibetan hospital. Methods QCC was applied to the management of hand hygiene in Tibetan hospital.The influencing factors of hand hygiene for medical workers in Tibetan hospital were analyzed by surveys and secret inquiries.The corresponding countermeasures were formulated and implemented.Moreover, the effect of QCC management was also assessed. Results After the application of QCC, the compliance and correctness of hand hygiene of medical workers in Tibetan Hospital was increased significantly from 44% to 78% (P<0.05)and 53% to 91% respectively, which exceeded expectations largely.Moreover, the problem-solving skills, responsibility, self-confidence and QCC techniques of the circle members were also improved. Conclusions The application of QCC can not only increase the compliance and correctness of hand hygiene of medical workers in Tibetan hospital, but also improve team cohesiveness and harmony, which is worth recommendation and promotion in all national hospital.
