Firm value is the achievement obtained by the company from public trust after running operations. The purpose of this study is to obtain empirical evidence regarding the effect of profitability, liquidity, leverage, and CSR on firm value. This research was conducted in financial sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The sample of companies is 10 companies with 5 years of observation, then obtained 50 observational data. The method of determining the sample used in this study is non-probability sampling with purposive sampling technique. The data were collected, then tested with Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) analysis. The results showed that profitability and leverage had a positive effect on firm value and liquidity and CSR had no effect on firm value.

How CSR influences young Chinese consumers' purchase decisions towards Western brands: the moderating effect of consumer ethnocentrism

PurposeThe objectives of this study are to examine the impacts of CSR on purchase intentions either directly or indirectly and to investigate the moderating effects of consumer ethnocentrism on the relationship between CSR and purchase intentions.Design/methodology/approachThis study utilized an online self-administered survey for data collection. All the measurement items were adopted or adapted from prior research concerning international marketing (Churchill, 1979). Concerning rating scales, the items of CSR, brand attitudes, and consumer ethnocentrism were measured from 1 (strongly disagree) to 7 (strongly agree), and the items of purchase intentions were measured from 1 (strongly disagree) to 5 (strongly agree).FindingsThe empirical findings suggest that CSR significantly influences purchase intentions directly and indirectly via brand attitudes. Besides, consumer ethnocentrism strengthens the positive effects of CSR on brand attitudes and purchase intentions.Originality/valueThis research sheds light on young Chinese consumers' purchase behaviors, which could facilitate Western brands implementing effective and efficient marketing strategies in the Chinese market.

Corporate social responsibility and COVID‐19: Prior reporting experience and assurance

The novel COVID‐19 has created an exogenous shock to capital markets and, hence, an ideal opportunity for researchers to assess whether CSR‐related activities provide an insurance‐like mechanism to protect firms against the shock. Using a large sample of 4361 firms domiciled in 40 countries, we investigate the roles of CSR reporting and assurance in the negative consequences of COVID‐19 on firm value. The results confirm that prior CSR reporting experience buffers firms against the adverse effects of the health crisis. The results also support that not only does the assurance on CSR reports create a buffering effect against the health crisis, but it also intensifies the buffering effects of prior CSR reporting experience against the pandemic. Moreover, using difference‐in‐difference method for testing the link between CSR reporting and firm value, we show that the positive association of reporting and assurance with firm value is more pronounced during the pandemic as compared with the years preceding it. The results of this study are robust to various analyses. Replicating the analyses to the context of the global financial crisis, we find that prior CSR reporting experience and assurance provide similar buffering effects when a market is exposed to various exogenous shocks. The results also hold for the mandatory disclosure regimes. By distinguishing first and subsequent reports and assurance, we show that, unlike subsequent CSR reports and assurance, the initial ones cannot mitigate the negative effects of the crisis on firm value, indicating that stakeholders take into account longer‐term CSR reporting experiences. Aside from reporting and assurance aspects of CSR, we analyze the role of CSR report's quality and accuracy and show that the adoption of Global Reporting Initiatives (GRI) frameworks can enhance socially responsible firms' resilience against systematic shocks.

This study aims to see the effect of GCG, CSR and Tax Aggressiveness on Financial Distress with Leverage as Moderation in Islamic Banking Companies in Indonesia listed on the IDX from 2015-2019. The sampling technique used in this research is purposive sampling technique and for data analysis using multiple linear analysis techniques. This study reveals that GCG has no significant effect on Financial Distress, CSR has a positive and significant effect on Financial Distress, Tax Aggressiveness has no significant effect on Financial Distress, Leverage has no significant effect on the effect of GCG on Financial Distress, Leverage has a positive effect on the effect of CSR on Financial Distress, Leverage has no effect on the effect of tax aggressiveness on financial distress

Corporate Social Responsibility and Corporate Values: The Moderating Role of Leverage and Company Size

The purpose of this study is to prove the moderating role of leverage and firm size on the CSR relationship with manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2018-2020. Purposive sampling used resulted in 82 companies. This data analysis method uses Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) through ordinary least squares (OLS) in stages to see the moderating function of leverage and firm size. The results of the study prove that leverage plays a role in moderating the negative effect of CSR on firm value. Meanwhile, firm size is not proven to moderate the relationship between CSR and firm value.

PERAN EARNINGS MANAGEMENT DALAM MEMODERASI CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY DAN FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE

The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of CSR on financial performance and the effect of earnings management on moderating the relationship between CSR and financial performance. Financial performance variable is proxied using Tobin's Q and ROA. Discretionary accruals with the Modified Jones model are used as a proxy for earnings management practices. The researcher uses secondary data from the company's annual report for the 2015-2019 period. Research with the population of all manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2015-2019. Purposive sampling method is used to determine sample of this data research, and that obtained 68 companies. Hypothesis test of this research is Partial Least Square (PLS) on SmartPLS 3.0. The results of this research indicate that CSR has no effect on financial performance. Analysis with moderating variables shows that earnings management moderates the influence of CSR on financial performance and has a significant negative effect. Testing of control variables proves that firm size and firm age have a positive and significant effect on financial performance

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of CSR in hotel companies on the financial performance and organizational trust of employees. To this end, this study aimed to classify corporate social responsibility activities into economical, legal, ethical, and charitable responsibilities, and to examine the effect on corporate financial performance by using organizational trust as a parameter.<BR> Practical implications are that, as a management strategy to secure the competitive advantage of the company, the social responsibility activities of the hotel company can improve the financial performance of the hotel company by making the members trust in the organization. Therefore, hotel companies should endeavor to build organizational trust of their employees, which suggests that social responsibility of hotel companies would be an important factor in the financial performance of hotel companies.

The The Influence of CSR Disclosure and Good Corporate Governance Towards Company’s Reputation

This study examines the effect of CSR and GCG disclosure on the company's reputation. Measurement of CSR disclosure refers to the 2016 GRI Standards. GCG is measured by proxy for the size of the board of directors, gender diversity in the board, and board activity. The research sample was 66 companies during 2018-2020 with the criteria of being public companies and releasing annual reports, not included in the financial sector companies, this was due to the characteristics of different business activities, regulations, and financial ratios, including being winners of the Corporate Image Awards for three years. consecutive years of research, reporting financial statements in rupiah currency, not foreign currency, make annual reports and/or sustainability reports during the research period, containing information on CSR and CG activities. and data analysis was performed with multiple linear regression analysis using SPSS program. The results show that CSR disclosure has a significant positive effect on the company's reputation, the size of the board of directors has a significant positive effect on the company's reputation, gender diversity in the board has a significant positive effect on the company's reputation, and board activities have a significant positive effect on the company's reputation.

A Comparative Study between Awash Bank S.C and Commercial Bank of Ethiopia the Effect of Corporate Social Responsibility on Brand Equity in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia

The objectives of this study was to examine the effect of CSR on brand Equity in Commercial Banks particularly between Awash Bank and Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in Dire Dawa Multidimensional corporate social responsibility (philanthropic, ethical, legal, and economic) on brand equity (brand awareness, brand association, perceived quality, and brand loyalty)in the banking industry, specifically were investigated the case of Awash Bank branch and Commercial Bank of Ethiopia branch in Dire Dawa Districts. Descriptive and explanatory research design quantitative methods were used and also using non-probability sampling technique. This study was used quantitative data collection tools self-administered structured questionnaires for collecting information. Both primary and secondary data sources were used to satisfy both the general and specific objective of the study. The data collected were analyzed through both descriptive and inferential statistics. Inferential statistics such as such as independent-samples t-test and ordinal logistic (O logit) regression data analysis were used. The survey findings the bank managers should be considered, CSR activities can create a positive impact on a bank’s image, as perceived by its customers. Although three CSR components (Legal, Ethical and Economic domains) are found significant, they vary in terms of their importance by the banks’ customers. However, Philanthropic domain of CSR is not significantly influence on Brand Equity in commercial banks particularly Awash Bank and Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in Dire Dawa thus, need to realize and incorporate these activities into their corporate strategy if they want to sustain a good level of competitive advantage, it may create a positive influence on society engaging in charitable activities, donating to the society and protecting the environment. Corporate Social Responsibility: A Driving Force for Exploration and Exploitation in SMEs?

While a growing body of research has investigated the relationship between CSR and innovation, the effect of CSR on exploration and exploitation, as ex-ante strategic objectives in pursuing innovation, has been overlooked. Our study therefore provides empirical evidence of the relationship between the adoption of CSR practices and the pursued strategies of exploration and exploitation in SMEs. Based on a survey conducted within 488 French SMEs and on a cluster and discriminant analysis, our study shows that CSR can contribute to ambidexterity, as the intense adoption of a large range of CSR practices is typical of firms that both explore and exploit. We also find that SMEs that focus on exploitation are characterized by the intense adoption of a low range of CSR practices, whereas those that focus on exploration are characterized by the low adoption of several CSR practices.JEL Codes: M14, O31

Consequences of CSR reporting regulations worldwide: a review and research agenda

PurposeThis study reviews research that examines economic and behavioural consequences of CSR reporting regulations. Specifically, the authors evaluate the impact of CSR reporting regulations on (1) reporting quality, (2) capital-markets and (3) firm behaviour.Design/methodology/approachThe authors first describe the stated objectives and enforcement level of CSR reporting regulations around the world. Second, the authors review over 130 archival studies in accounting, finance, economics, law and management that examine consequences of the regulations.FindingsThe stated objectives and enforcement of CSR reporting regulations vary considerably across countries. Empirical research finds no significant changes in reporting quality and generally concludes that CSR reporting continues to be ceremonial rather than substantive after the regulations – consistent with corporate legitimation and “greenwashing” views. In contrast, growing evidence shows both positive and negative capital-market and real effects of the regulations. Overall, the findings from this review indicate that, on balance, there remains a significant number of questions on the net effects of CSR reporting regulations.Originality/valueThe authors offer a comprehensive review of the literature examining consequences of CSR reporting regulations. The authors identify apparent tensions in studies assessing different outcomes after the regulations: between symbolic reporting and positive capital-market outcomes; between profitability and CSR; and between CSR and the welfare of non-shareholder groups. Additionally, we highlight differences in the scope and stated objectives of CSR regulations across countries, with the regulations often reflecting socio-economic development and national interests of implementing countries. Collectively, our review indicates that institutional details are crucial when considering the design or consequences of CSR reporting regulations and/or standards.

Pengaruh Good Corporate Governance &amp; Corporate Social Responsibility terhadap Kinerja Keuangan (The Influence of GCG and CSR on Financial Performance)

This study aims to determine the effect of DKI (Independent Board of Commissioners), DD (Board of Directors), KI (Institutional Ownership), KM (Managerial Ownership), and CSR on the Financial Performance of the Mining Industry listed on the IDX in 2015-2019. Quantitative descriptive approach is the type of this research. With secondary data from the annual financial statements listed on the IDX through (www.idx.co.id) 2015-2019. With a sample of 17 companies from the mining industry taken by purposive sampling method. This study uses descriptive analysis techniques, simple &amp; multiple linear hypothesis testing. This research results that the Independent Board of Commissioners, Institutional Ownership, and CSR have a significant positive effect on Financial Performance. Meanwhile, the Board of Directors and Managerial Ownership have no influence on the Company's Financial Performance.

Impact of Brand Image on Green Purchase Intentions: Mediating Role of CSR Perceptions

Nowadays, green consumerism is becoming the center of attraction for many researchers. The dominance of environment-friendly consumers is increasing. In the context of Pakistan, this research issue is not fully explored, and the hospitality industry of Pakistan remains unexplored concerning the green purchase intention to the best of the researcher’s knowledge. It is also identified that the concept of green purchase is a relatively untouched area in the service industry overall. Therefore, current research aims to investigate the association of the brand image with purchasing intentions of green consumers, in the presence of the mediating effect of CSR. This study has collected quantitative data where customers from the hospitality industry are selected. The sample size of the returned questionnaires on which the findings of the study have been based is 246. The findings of the study state that the role of brand image in green purchase intention is extensive. Further investigation of the mediating role of CSR indicates a partial mediation of CSR perception between the brand image and green purchase intentions of consumers. Hence, it can be significantly stated from the findings of the current research that the positive CSR perception is expected to play a complementary role in the overall green purchase intentions of consumers in the hospitality sector of Pakistan. The recommendations for future research state the need for further industry perspectives to be explored in terms of CSR implications.

Corporate social responsibility and job applicant attraction: A moderated-mediation model.

Based on the social identity theory, this study investigates the mediation and moderation mechanism of CSR on job applicant attraction. A total of 395 job seekers are recruited to join in the experiment survey. The results indicate that job seekers’ perceptions of CSR positively relate to job applicant attraction, employer reputation and expected pride mediate this relationship, respectively, and the serial mediating role of employer reputation and then expected pride in the relationship between CSR and job applicant attraction. Additionally, the findings show that job applicants’ materialism orientation plays a moderating role in the indirect effect of CSR on job applicant attraction via expected pride, but the moderating effect of job seekers’ materialism orientation in the indirect effect of CSR on job applicant attraction via employer reputation is not statistically significant. These findings enrich the new culture-driven evidence on the impacting mechanism of CSR on job applicant’s attitude and provide valuable insight into how CSR motivates job applicant attraction.

Corpporate Social Responsibility, Capital Intensity, Kualitas Audit Dan Penghindaran Pajak: Kepemilikan Institusional Sebagai Variabel Moderasi

Purpose: This research aims to find out and analyze the effects of CSR, Capital Intensity and Audit Quality on Tax Avoidance moderated by Institutional Ownership.Method: The samples used in this study were manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2016-2020 as many as 42 companies obtained by purposive sampling method. This research technique uses multiple linear analysis and moderated regression analysis.Finding: The results of this study showed that CSR variables had a significant negative effect on Tax Avoidance, Capital Intensity had no effect on Tax Avoidance, and Audit Quality had a positive effect on Tax Avoidance. Institutional ownership cannot moderate the influence of CSR, Capital Intensity and audit quality on tax avoidance.Novelty: The novelty of the study, the researchers added variables of institutional ownership moderation and different time periods. Institutional ownership was chosen because it had a considerable influence in overseeing management performance to run the company's operations as well as to see how much influence institutional ownership moderated in the study.

Corporate social responsibility and the impact on economic value added: the role of environmental innovation

PurposeCorporate social responsibility (CSR) is a common strategy implemented by companies due to social, ethical and policy pressures to reduce its impact on society, economy and environment. However, whether CSR adds or decreases firms’ value remains little explored. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the impact of CSR adoption on companies’ economic value added (EVA). The authors also tested a mechanism of environmental innovation and the moderation role of a firm’s size.Design/methodology/approachThe authors performed a regression analysis and a mediation process analysis using dataset from 4,287 largest companies worldwide to investigate this issue. The a dataset was collected from Eikon, a Thomson Reuters platform.FindingsThe results revealed four main findings. Companies with high CSR indexes decreased EVA; environmental innovation mediated the effect of CSR on EVA; the firm size positively moderated the effect of CSR on EVA and firm size positively moderated the effect of CSR on environmental innovation.Originality/valueTo the best of the author’s knowledge, this research is the first endeavor to analyze CSR’s effect on EVA and the mediation role of environmental innovation using the most prominent firms worldwide. Furthermore, the results highlight exciting implications for literature, managers and policymakers.

ANALISIS IMPLEMENTASI PROGRAM CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CSR) TERHADAP LINGKUNGAN DAN KESEJAHTERAAN MASYARAKAT PETANI (STUDI KASUS PADA PT. LSI DI KABUPATEN KUTAI BARAT)

This study aims to determine the effect of CSR on the environment and on the welfare of the farming community and the influence of the environment on the welfare of the farming community by PT. LSI. This research was conducted in Perigiq Village, Jempang District, Mancong Jempang District, Muara Nayan Jempang District and Gunung Bayan District Muara Pahu Kutai Barat Regency. The research design uses a quantitative research approach, and with data collection techniques through interviews, observations, and documentation. The population in this study was 223 based on the number of farmers, using Simple Random Sampling with a sample of 69 respondents, the analytical test used was SmartPLS v.3.0 with SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) analysis method.The results of the study show that the influence of CSR on the environment has a positive and significant effect, this result is based on the calculation of Path Coefficients obtaining a value of 0,347 &gt; 0 which is declared positive and the T-Statistic calculation obtains a value of 2,952 &gt; 1,96 which states significant. The influence of CSR on Welfare has a positive and significant effect, this result is based on the calculation of Path Coefficients obtaining a value of 0,339 &gt; 0 which is declared positive and the T-Statistic calculation obtains a value of 2,607 &gt; 1,96 which states significant. The influence of the environment on welfare has a positive but not significant effect, the environment has a positive but not significant effect on well-being, this result is based on the calculation of Path Coefficients obtaining a value of 0,229 &gt; 0 which is declared positive and the T-Statistic calculation obtains a value of 1,785 &lt; 1,96 which states that it is not significan, this is because the company has nit yet cared for social responsibility.

How and when perceived CSR effects interpersonal helping and loyal boosterism: A moderated mediation model

Although there are some recent efforts to understand employees’ reactions to CSR, more empirical studies are needed. The present study responds to this need by investigating the mediating role of affective commitment in the relationship between CSR and interpersonal helping and loyal boosterism. The study also examined employees’ CSR-induced attributions (intrinsic/extrinsic) as boundary conditions. Data were collected from five-star hotel employees in Istanbul. The research model was tested using PLS-SEM. The findings indicated that perceived CSR has a direct effect on affective commitment and loyal boosterism but not on interpersonal helping. The importance of affective commitment as a mediating factor in the relationships between CSR and interpersonal helping and CSR and loyal boosterism is supported. We found that only intrinsic CSR attributions moderated the indirect effect of perceived CSR on both interpersonal helping and loyal boosterism. Findings are discussed, theoretical contributions are presented, and suggestions are developed for practitioners.
