This research is related to the management of Arabic language skills in the Arabic Language Teaching Division, College of Education and Schooling, Mataram Islamic State University. This research aims to analyze the management of the Arabic language skill, and to define and analyze the impact of implementing the Arabic language skill management in the Arabic Language Teaching Division, College of Education and Schooling, Mataram Islamic State University. This research uses the descriptive qualitative approach. The method of collecting data is observation, interview and documentation. The observation was used to obtain information related to the activity and conditions in the Arabic Language Skills Department in the Arabic Language Teaching Division, College of Education and Schooling, Mataram State Islamic University. The interview was conducted to obtain data and information related to the management of the Arabic language skill in the Arabic Language Teaching Division, College of Education and Schooling, Mataram Islamic State University. As for the documentation method, it is used to obtain data and information related to the image of the Arabic language skill management in the Arabic Language Teaching Division, College of Education and Schooling, Mataram Islamic State University. Managing the Arabic language skill in the Arabic Language Teaching Division is done in an open manner between the president and the lecturer. As well as the application of teaching Arabic language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, and writing. And teaching students the Arabic language skill in quality management from the first to the last and from the first level to the next.

Action research practices, challenges and quality implications

This study dealt with investigating the existing practices and challenges to sustain quality of education through action research at the College of Education and Behavioral Studies (CEBS) of the Addis Ababa University (AAU). Data were collected from 76 staffs and 194 students at the College using questionnaires and by conducting interviews with 5 and 3 officials at the Ministry of Education and at AAU respectively. The findings have shown that teaching staffs at AAU conduct action research only to a limited extent. This was regardless of the widespread belief in the positive effects of action research to enhance education quality. Among the reasons for this were lack of staff empowerment, support, clear policies to link teaching with research, top-down prescriptions and staff members’ low commitment and conviction to assertively strive to improve their professional practices through action research which is entrusted with sustaining quality.

Effects of blended learning and peer tutoring on genetics achievement among agricultural education students in North Central Nigeria

This study examined the effects of Blended Learning (BL) and Peer Tutoring (PT) on student achievement in genetics among agricultural education students in North Central Nigeria. Using a quasi-experimental design, 167 students from three education colleges were divided into experimental and control groups. The Genetics Achievement Test (GAT) and the Genetics Blended Learning Package (GBLP) assessed learning outcomes. Pre- and post-test results showed that students taught with BL and PT outperformed traditional methods, with BL being the most effective. Gender differences were also observed, with male students performing better across all methods. The study concludes that both BL and PT enhance learning and recommend their adoption. Additionally, schools should integrate innovative teaching methods and ICT tools to improve instruction in complex subjects.

Students’ Perceptions in the Integration of E-learning at a Free State TVET College in South Africa

The increasing demand for Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges in South Africa to align with economic growth and technological advancements has intensified, particularly post-COVID-19. The government’s White Paper on e-Education outlines a strategy to make the education system more efficient and equitable through digital transformation. This qualitative interpretive study explores the experiences of TVET students using open-ended questionnaires to gather in-depth insights into their perceptions of e-learning. Participants were purposefully selected from a predominantly rural campus, with data analysed thematically to identify critical challenges and opportunities faced in e-learning environments. The study engages with the pertinent issue, emphasising the perceived difficulties and prospects of TVET students while learning via e-learning platforms. By analysing student responses through the TAAA model, the study outlines critical factors for improving digital literacy and infrastructure, which is essential for scalable e-learning solutions in resource-limited settings. The findings derived from this qualitative interpretive study have disclosed that many obstructive elements exist, simultaneously giving rise to opportunities associated with e-learning. These findings can establish a basis for the extant body of knowledge and are recommended for the consideration of relevant stakeholders capable of addressing the challenges linked to e-learning environments in TVET college education.

A study on the ability of some fungi isolated from oil soil contaminated to biodegradation plastic and paper waste in Kirkuk city

This study was carried out in department of life science at the University of Kirkuk, College of Education for Pure Science laboratories to determine the capability of some types of fungi isolated from oil soil contaminated samples taken from different areas of Kirkuk city and to evaluate the biodegradation effect of plastics and papers wastes. The results showed that after taking 50 oil soil samples, the following fungi were isolated: The molds found were Aspergillus spp, Penicillum spp and Alternaria spp. Their impact on seven categories of waste was assessed as the weight was determined for each piece. The overall effect from the project was the reduction on the weight, Among the fungi, Alternaria spp outperformed Aspergillus spp, Penicillum spp and the wastes that lost the most weight after the fungi grew on them were cardboard, coffee cup, and drawing paper.

Effect Of Yogic Practices On Spiritual Intelligence Of Prospective Teachers

Background: Spiritual intelligence (SI) refers to the ability to access higher meanings, values, and purposes in life, influencing personal development and professional effectiveness. In the context of education, SI is vital for prospective teachers, as it enhances emotional regulation, self-awareness, and a deep connection to teaching practices. Previous studies suggest that yogic practices can contribute to the development of SI by promoting self-reflection, mindfulness, and emotional balance. This study investigates the impact of a structured yoga intervention on the spiritual intelligence of prospective teachers. Aim: The primary aim of this study is to assess the effect of an eight-week structured yoga intervention on the spiritual intelligence of prospective teachers at the Government College of Education, Chandigarh. Materials & Methods: A total of 60 prospective teachers were randomly assigned to either the experimental (n = 30) or control (n = 30) group. The experimental group participated in an eight-week yoga intervention, while the control group received no intervention. Spiritual intelligence was measured using the Spiritual Intelligence Scale developed by Dr. Dhar S. and Dr. Dhar U. (2010) at two points: before (pre-test) and after (post-test) the intervention. Discussion and Conclusion: The study concludes that Yogic practices significantly enhance spiritual intelligence among prospective teachers. These findings support the integration of Yoga into teacher education programs to foster personal growth and improve emotional and spiritual development. Future research could explore the long term effects of such interventions and their impact on teaching efficacy and student outcomes.

경찰대학 존폐에 관한 입법정책적 연구 - 경찰대학 존폐론을 둘러싼 쟁점 논의를 중심으로

The Korean National Police University was established in 1981 based on the Korean National Police University Establishment Act enacted on December 28, 1979. According to the Korean National Police University Establishment Act, which is the basis for the establishment of the Korean National Police University, there are provisions for granting various benefits to students of the Korean National Police University, such as exemption from tuition, appointment as inspector, and preferential military service, thereby providing a foundation for the Korean National Police University to recruit excellent, high-level talents for the police organization and foster elite police officers. 40 years have passed since the opening of the Korean National Police University, and many police-related departments, including police administration, are newly established and maintained at four-year general universities. In a situation where the majority of police personnel are college graduates or higher, through open competitive recruitment examinations for police officers, questions cannot help but be raised about the purpose of the establishment of the Korean National Police University, which was established to foster entry-level police officers. Considering the criteria for judgment, such as the Constitutional Court’s past decisions on the unconstitutionality of hiring graduates from public and private colleges of education and the constitutionality of the abolition of the Tax College, the legitimacy of the abolition of the Korea National Police University seems sufficient. Despite the reform and innovation of Korea National the Police University during the Moon Jae-in administration in 2018, the controversy over the existence of the Korea National Police University has not yet subsided. In this paper, we examine the main issues related to the existence of the Korea National Police University, including first, whether it conforms to the purpose of establishing the Korea National Police University; second, whether the appointment of superintendents is unfair; third, whether it causes withdrawal from the police organization; and fourth, whether it causes conflict within the police organization. We also suggest legislative policy improvement measures regarding the existence of the Korea National Police University.

INNOVATIVE TECHNIQUES OF TEACHING AND LEARNING OF BUSINESS EDUCATION

The study examined the the innovative techniques of teaching and learning of business education in both Colleges & Universities of education in Ogun State. The study used the descriptive survey research design. Two research questions and two null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The population of the study comprised of fifty five (55)Business Education Lecturers in both Colleges & Universities of education in Ogun State. Data was collected through eighteen (18) item structured questions from the two research questions with a four-point rating scale of Very High Extent, High Extent, Low Extent, Very Low Extent. The questionnaire was validated by two experts in the department of Business Education and one expert from department of measurement and evaluation from Tai solarin college of education, Omu. Reliability coefficient 0.72 was established using Cronbach alpha. The analysis of data was done using mean and standard deviation for the research questions and t- test was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The study concluded that innovative strategies for teaching and learning leads to more efficiency and improved outcomes. The study also revealed that most of the resources for teaching and learning business education subject are not available in secondary schools. This means that most of the resources identified for teaching of business subjects are not made available in the schools. However, it was recommended that; Curriculum planners and implementation and educational policy makers should sensitize the school and teachers on the need to put more emphasis on utilization and improvising of resources materials in teaching and learning of Business Education subjects. The government as a matter of policy should recruit more qualified graduate teachers to teach at junior secondary school level most especially Business studies. Adequate instructional materials should be provided for effective teaching and learning process.

The Effect of Yogic and Non Yogic Exercise on the Respiratory System

A study attempts to investigate the physiological variations between vital capacity of BPEd students. A sample comprised of 60 BPEd students vital capacity through yogic and non yogic exercises from physical education college gadoora, ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir by using simple random sampling technique. In which 30 students yogic exercises and 30 students non yogic BPEd students. The age of players ranging from 22 to 25 years. The yogic exercise anloum vilom , sheetali, sheetkari and non yogic exercises one step jump, skipping rope were used for measuring the vital capacity. To compare the impact of yogic and non yogic exercise on the respiratory system BPEd students t-test was applied. The result of the study showed that there was a significant difference was found between before yogic and non yogic exercise on the respiratory system of BPEd students in their vital capacity. Significant was observed between after yogic and non yogic exercise on the respiratory system BPEd students in their vital capacity.

Exploring translanguaging in academic discourse through an ecological analytic lens

ABSTRACT This study investigates the manifestation of translanguaging in joint academic courses for Jewish and Arab students studying in a binational Israeli teacher education college. The study focuses on the lectures’ and students’ perspectives. Sources of data included in-depth personal and focus-group interviews with the lecturers and students. Qualitative analyses through an ecological lens revealed a number of interrelated themes suggesting that these courses create academic spaces whereby translanguaging involves the intersection of multilayered pedagogical, psychological, sociocultural and, particularly, political dimensions. The unique data, revealed in this study, demonstrate that ecological dimensions are particularly useful for capturing the nature of translanguaging in complex academic settings. The findings suggest a number of important educational implications for bilingual societies. In particular, our data highlight the necessity to adopt an inclusive language policy in multilingual higher education contexts to secure the status of minoritized languages, encouraging translanguaging in the instructional and assessment processes. Moreover, within the Israeli geopolitical context and other educational settings involving conflicts, teachers and teacher educators should acquire skills and strategies to implement translanguaging effectively as a means to realize shared societies.

Influence of Motivation in Predicting Lecturers’ Retention in Colleges of Education in Bauchi State, Nigeria

This study investigated the influence of motivation in predicting lecturers’ retention in Colleges of Education in Bauchi State, Nigeria. The study adopted survey research design. The population of the study consisted of all the lecturers from Colleges of Education in Bauchi State, Nigeria. A sample of 50 lecturers was drawn from the population through the process of simple random sampling technique. Three objectives, three research questions and three null hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. Data collection was carried out with the use of research instruments titled “Motivation and “Lecturers’ Retention Questionnaire (MLRQ)”. The reliability index was 0.71. These figures confirmed that the instruments were reliable in achieving the objectives of the study. The mean, standard deviation and simple linear regression was used to test the research questions and hypotheses respectively generated for the study at 0.05 alpha levels. The results indicate that substantive enhancement in motivation level may yield a correspondingly improvement in lecturers’ retention rate. The findings revealed among others that promotion significantly predict lecturers’ retention. Also, the results of the study revealed that salary significantly predicts lecturers’ retention. Moreover, the results showed that self-efficacy significantly predict lecturers’ retention. Based on the findings, the researcher recommended that government, colleges’ authorities, education regulatory bodies and all stakeholders in the academia should pay increasing attention to the motivation of academic staff in order to boost their retention rate thereby enhancing high productivity. These results were discussed in relation to previous findings of similar studies and recommendations were also proffered.

Experiences of students with disabilities in technical vocational education and training colleges

Background: Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in South Africa is often viewed as the ‘Cinderella’ of higher education, with many matriculating students choosing mainstream universities instead. This preference stems from stigma and misconceptions that label TVET students – often from poorer working-class backgrounds – as less intelligent than their university peers. The lived experiences of students with physical and learning disabilities in these institutions are particularly underexplored.Objectives: This study aimed to illuminate the experiences of students with disabilities at five TVET colleges in Gauteng, South Africa.Method: Using a phenomenological approach, the study conducted story exercises and individual interviews with a convenience sample of 40 students with disabilities.Results: The findings reveal that TVET education predominantly serves black students from marginalised backgrounds, with students with disabilities facing significant barriers in accessing both the curriculum and the physical environments of the colleges. Despite numerous challenges, a resilient narrative emerged among these students, rooted in African traditional values.Conclusion: This article contributes to knowledge on disability inclusion in higher education by showcasing the challenges and resilience of students with disabilities in South Africa’s TVET system.Contribution: The study employed innovative methodologies, such as picture stories, to co-create knowledge with students living with disabilities.

The article highlights the concept of a «Technical Educational and Scientific Cluster» (TESC). It is established that its structural foundation is based on a developed university ecosystem, which includes participants in the educational process, infrastructure facilities, and structural units – scientific and educational institutes, colleges, lyceums, incubators, and technoparks, which interact with each other creating a unique synergy aimed at the innovative development of a particular region and industries, such as: engineering, aerospace, transport, chemical, metallurgical, construction, etc. It is determined that the integration of the cluster into the region's economy involves the development of cooperation not only between educational institutions and enterprises but also with local authorities, business associations, and investors, which influence the formation of the region's socioeconomic potential (SEP) and ensure the creation of a favorable environment for the development and implementation of new technologies in production. This contributes to the development of the region's economy, increasing its competitiveness on the global market of goods and services. Emphasis is placed on the university, which plays a key, integrating role and is the core of the cluster, uniting various elements of the ecosystem and ensuring their effective interaction and has a direct and profound impact on the region's SEP. In fact, it becomes an innovative center of the region, not only generating new knowledge and training highly qualified personnel but also creating a powerful synergistic effect by cooperating with businesses. Such a tandem contributes to the rapid commercialization of scientific developments, the birth of new technological startups, and, as a result, the growth of the region's economic potential. At the same time, by involving students in scientific research and entrepreneurial projects, it forms an innovative culture, increases social mobility, and contributes to improving the quality of life of residents, increasing the investment attractiveness of Dnipropetrovsk region, and forming a stable position to changes in the economy. It is emphasized that the development of TESC is impossible without taking into account the specifics of the region's SEP. Constant monitoring of such factors as the level of education, the innovative activity of enterprises, and the investment climate allows adjusting the cluster's development strategy and ensuring its compliance with the needs of the region

Collaboration between stakeholders in the design of a context-based curriculum in Ghana

PurposeThis study examines the nature and forms of collaboration among stakeholders that led to and existed during the design of the B.Ed. curriculum for the Colleges of Education (CoE) in Ghana. It aims to highlight the views of local stakeholders about the processes in an educational project that were likely to have enhanced the importance of contextualisation in the curriculum change process. The paper also prioritises the voices and views of local stakeholders, which have often been stifled in the process of curriculum change in Ghana.Design/methodology/approachA qualitative approach, using semi-structured interviews, was used to collect data from 17 local stakeholders. Thematic analysis and social constructivism framed the interpretation of findings.FindingsThe study found that the CoE reform prioritised local stakeholders’ input throughout a highly collaborative process. This collaboration unexpectedly led to the development of a curriculum reflective of the Ghanaian context. However, ideological conflicts emerged at both the international and local levels, particularly regarding approaches to change and the decision to extend CoE management to four public universities. The conflicts underscore the power dynamics inherent in educational reforms funded by foreign aid.Originality/valueThe research offers crucial insights for policymakers and curriculum developers regarding the importance of local stakeholder engagement in collaborative reforms involving foreign aid. The study underscores the need for active involvement from all stakeholders to create contextually relevant curricula. While conflicts may arise, the research highlights that a social constructivist approach, combined with continuous communication, negotiation and compromise, can lead to meaningful and sustainable curriculum reform outcomes.

Assessment of students’ attendance, participation and classroom involvement in E-classroom

Assessing students’ involvement in e-classrooms enables instructors to identify students who may be struggling with the material or disengaged from the learning process. It allows instructors to provide timely feedback and support to help students overcome challenges and stay on track with their learning goals. Tracking attendance, participation, and classroom involvement helps instructors ensure the quality and effectiveness of e-classroom sessions. It allows instructors to assess whether instructional strategies are fully engaging students and promoting active learning in an online environment. A College of Primary Education was used for the study in Southwest, Nigeria. Access was gained into classes in the twenty-seven (27) departments in the six Schools in the College. The average attendance of students in the various departments were taken every week and reported on monthly basis for three months during the Covid-19 period. Findings revealed that students had a slightly high attendance rate, participated actively and were involved to some extent in the E-classroom. It is recommended that the government through institutions of learning should provide students with facilities that will ease the process of on-line classes, while students should always make themselves ready and available for on-line classes.

Challenges Experienced in the Teaching and Learning of English in Multilingual Classrooms: A Case of a College in Ashanti, Ghana

This study examined challenges experienced in the teaching and learning of English in a multilingual classrooms atmosphere, using the descriptive design. It took place at the Akrokeri College of Education in the Ashanti Region, Ghana. The study used a sample of 297 teachers and 67 teachers, using some sampling procedures. Data analysis took place through descriptive statistics in terms of frequencies and percentages. The study affirmed the existence of various challenges in the multilingual classroom, including weak linguistic background and learner anxiety. Others were communication-related issues and writing issues. While a good number of teachers demonstrated high proficiency in English, most of the students struggled. Based on these conclusions, the study recommended that teachers and students’ use of English language, both in and outside the classrooms, be maximized since frequent use of the language increases its mastery, which is beneficial in the process of teaching and learning in the multilingual classrooms.

The Effect of Job Satisfaction on Organizational Performance: The Mediating Role of Managerial Values Congruence

Purpose – This study addresses this gap by examining how managerial values congruence, representing alignment between employees and managerial values, mediates the relationship between job satisfaction and organizational perfor-mance. Aims(s) – The study aims to use a unique measure of employee job satisfaction that specifically reflects their level of contentment with their employment and working environment. Design/methodology/approach – The author employed a quantitative research approach using a cross-sectional survey design to collect data about the popula-tion at the time of the study. The sample size consisted of 500 staff members from colleges of education, selected through convenience sampling techniques. Findings – By elucidating the mediating mechanism, our study contributes to a deeper understanding of the drivers of organizational effectiveness and offers practical insights for human resource management practices. Limitations of the study – A limitation of this study is the lack of a longitudinal design, which restricts the understanding of causal relationships and temporal dynamics. Therefore, future research could explore these relationships through longitudinal studies, cross-cultural comparisons, and multi-level modeling tech-niques. Additionally, qualitative methods, such as interviews or case studies, could provide deeper insights into the mechanisms and contextual factors un-derlying these relationships. Originality/value – The originality of this research lies in examining the mediat-ing role of managerial values congruence between job satisfaction and organiza-tional performance, contributing to the development of social exchange theory and providing practical recommendations for improving organizational pro-cesses.

Repositioning College of Education for Sustainable Youth Empowerment and National Development in Niger Delta

This paper focused on repositioning college of education for sustainable youth empowerment and national development. This is opinion and literature-based research work. The aim of this paper is to examine some ways through which college of education can be carried out to bring about sustainable youth empowerment and national development and quality delivery can be achieved in Niger Delta colleges of e d u c a t i o n . T h e p a p e r a d d r e s s e d t h e u s e o f entrepreneurship education, e-learning, and training in the proper use of ICT, amongst others as a method of shifting the focus of college of education towards sustainable youth empowerment and national development. The challenges facing the repositioning of college of education to achieve sustainable youth development and national development were discussed among others lack of entrepreneurship teaching. It was concluded that is necessary for Niger Delta colleges of education to readdress their objectives towards achieving sustainable youth empowerment and national development.

Exploring the Therapeutic Potential of Nature Photography in Treating Anxiety and Depression amongst Students in FCT College of Education Abuja

This study explored the therapeutic potential of nature photography in treating anxiety and depression amongst students in FCT College of Education Zuba, FCT-Abuja. the study raised two research questions. The study employs a descriptive survey design. The target population for this study includes all NCE II ECCE students enrolled at the FCT College of Education, a sample of 200 students were selected using simple random sampling technique. Data was gathered using a questionnaire titled Therapeutic Potential of Nature Photography for Anxiety and Depression Questionnaire (TPNPADQ). To ensure the validity of the questionnaire, it was reviewed by experts in psychology and test and measurement. The reliability of the instrument was assessed using Cronbach's alpha, which yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.85. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including percentages, means, and standard deviations. The findings revealed that students in FCT College of Education are aware of using nature photography for treating anxiety. furthermore, the findings revealed students in FCT College of Education are aware of using nature photography for treating depression. based on these findings, the study recommends that Colleges of Education should develop comprehensive educational programs and workshops. These programs can provide students with practical skills in nature photography, emphasizing its therapeutic applications in addressing anxiety.

The COOL e-Research and Researcher Development Experiences: A Mentor and Mentee Perspective

As information and communication technologies (ICTs) continue to advance, research projects and processes increasingly adopt ICTs, and terms like ‘e-research’ gain popularity. However, disparities in access to ICTs and users’ technology proficiency affect the adoption of e-research technologies. Despite these constraints, the COVID-19 pandemic forced many researchers (including postgraduate students), in diverse and unequal contexts, to take their research activities online. This paper reports on the ‘e-research’ experiences of the principal investigator, a research mentor and a researcher after the adoption of ICTs during the pandemic. This research took place in the context of the Cases on Open Learning (COOL) research project, commissioned by, and conducted jointly with, the Department of Higher Education (DHET) in South Africa. This was a multi-researcher (10 researchers located across the country, with varying degrees of research experience), multi-site qualitative social science research that took the form of 15 case studies, conducted across seven technical and vocational education and training colleges, six universities, two DHET sites, and a desktop study. The national lockdowns that were announced shortly after our first and only face-to-face project meeting forced us to conduct all aspects of the project entirely online. We used the Google suite for collaboration and Zoom for COOL team building, researcher knowledge and skills development sessions, and online interviews conducted by the researchers. WhatsApp played a dual role – supporting ongoing communication within the research group, and as a data collection tool. The paper highlights our experiences on what it meant to be part of a research team, as well as the opportunities and challenges of conducting research of this nature. It shed light on the COOL team building and researcher development strategies. Drawing on insights from our experiences, we recommend that higher education institutions (HEIs) develop both technical and human-oriented guidelines for conducting e-research. This paper could provide insights for independent researchers, postgraduate students, principal investigators, and supervisors considering a cohort-supervision model, comprising diverse students, who may be in dispersed geographical locations.
