The International Journal of Studies in Inclusive Education (IJSIE) is a double-blinded, peer-reviewed, fully open-access journal providing an advanced platform and opportunities for inclusive education-related research outputs. The Editorial Board welcomes empirical, conceptual, academic, and theoretical articles critically analysed and interpreted in all its holistic approach to inclusive education: inclusive education, learning barriers, learners, or students with special needs, etc. The scholarly articles must be prepared, treated, and interpreted with the same academic rigor expected of academic research. The IJSIE aims to provide an interdisciplinary forum for scholars, publishing professionals, librarians, and others to communicate original research that addresses current issues informed by the best practices. Scholarly publishing has only recently begun to exploit the full potential of networked digital technologies, which affects the broader process of research communication, including public access to and engagement with research. Influential trends towards responsible research and innovation, the globalisation of research, the emergence and inclusion of new or previously excluded stakeholders, and the advent of open science are reshaping scholarly publishing's scope and nature. The social, legal, and ethical dimensions of publications continue to co-evolve with these changes. Publications aim to provide an interdisciplinary forum for scholars, publishing professionals, librarians, and others to communicate original empirical and theoretical research on these and related topics to address current issues and inform best practices. The IJSIE publishes research, reviews, scholarly writings, and reports concerning the inclusion of learners (students) with special learning needs in mainstream classrooms (schools) . The IJSIE is focused on inclusion issues in all educational endeavours, such as research, administrative issues, teaching and learning in classrooms, and inclusion of students at higher institutions. The IJSIE defines inclusive education within the broad context of the Salamanca statement guidelines. Special Education has within its heritage the perspectives of advocating for persons with exceptionalities and embracing individual differences. The IJSIE is an inclusive education publication in the GAERPSY. It relies on vast theoretical, practical, and thematically scholarly inclusive education, including unpublished research in human behavioural issues. These include at-risk learners, mental well-being, psycholinguistics, and inclusive education.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to analyze trends in artificial intelligence convergence gifted education in elementary and middle schools that have been studied with a focus on artificial intelligence, and to derive important issues, topics, trends, and trends in related research. Methods Research trends were analyzed for 75 literatures related to artificial intelligence and artificial intelligence convergence gifted education research and education programs. Analysis data was collected through Academic Research Information Service (RISS). The collected data was refined using Excel and text, and major keywords were identified, analyzed, and visualized through frequency analysis and keyword network analysis. CONCOR cluster analysis was used to determine the centrality of keywords. Results First, since 2017, research on artificial intelligence convergence gifted education has been steadily expanding in terms of content and methods. Second, the results of frequency analysis of the main keywords in research related to artificial intelligence convergence gifted education showed ‘artificial intelligence’, ‘artificial intelligence education’, ‘gifted education’, ‘computational thinking ability’, and ‘machine learning’.Third, as a result of TF-IDF weight analysis, ‘artificial intelligence’, ‘artificial intelligence education’, ‘gifted education’, ‘computational thinking ability’, ‘science gifted’, ‘artificial intelligence education program’, and ‘information gifted’ were found. In general, it was similar to the results of the frequency analysis of major keywords, but it was confirmed that there was a difference in the rankings. Keywords with relatively high weight compared to their frequency of occurrence are ‘science gifted’, ‘creativity’, and ‘artificial intelligence education program’.Fourth, through semantic network and CONCOR analysis, it can be confirmed that artificial intelligence convergence gifted education research is being conducted focusing on ‘educational content’, ‘educational effect’, ‘teaching method’, and ‘educational target’. Conclusions This study derived the main topics and flows of research based on the results of keyword network analysis of domestic artificial intelligence convergence gifted education-related research.

In a continuing collaboration between the American Orthopaedic Association's (AOA) Council of Orthopaedic Residency Directors (CORD) and JBJS, the following 10 abstracts highlight the scientific research presented at AOA's annual national meeting held in June 2022. These abstracts embody CORD's purpose and mission:“The American Orthopaedic Association's Council of Orthopaedic Residency Directors (CORD) program strives to recognize best practices in orthopaedic residency education and fellowship education based on ACGME [Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education]-defined essential knowledge and skills in each of the residency education competency areas. Analysis of Hot Issues and Trends in Korean Language Education Research in China: A Visual Analysis Based on CNKI Database

Objectives This study aims to explore the situations, hotspots, and dynamic evolution of Korean language education-related research in China to provide ideas and references for future works in this field.
 Methods This study adopts the method of bibliometric visualization. Based on the China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) database and the metrological visualization software CiteSpace6.2. R4, this paper analyzes the published papers on Korean language education research from 2003 to 2023 and draws Knowledge graphs.
 Results This study has found that research on Korean language education in China can be divided into three stages, namely the initial development period (2003-2014), the stable growth period (2015-2020),and the decline period (2021 present). A high-yield author group has yet to be formed, and there needs to be more cooperation between authors and research institutions. The research institutions are concentrated in the northeastern provinces, with the main body being vocational colleges. The primary research focuses on teaching methods, curriculum reform, and language application.
 Conclusions By utilizing CiteSpace, this study presents six tabular visualizations of bibliometric data pertaining to Chinese research on Korean language education: list of the most published authors, list of research institutes , list of journals, list of high frequency keywords and centrality, keyword co-occurrence network map and the top 10 keywords with the strongest citation burstness. In conjunction with the temporal distribution table of the research, these six tables and figures comprehensively depict the current state of research in Korean language education in mainland China. Research exhibits a high degree of concentration in subjects, themes, and outcomes, which is also a limitation. In future studies, researchers should emphasize using interdisciplinary methods to expand the scope of Korean language education research while strengthening institutional and cross-border cooperation to explore growing hotspots.

제주교육 관련 박사학위 논문의 연구 동향 분석

This study identified the trend of Jeju education-related research targeting doctoral
 dissertation. Doctoral dissertation were collected from ‘RISS’, ‘National Library of Korea’
 and ‘The National Assembly Library’, 70 papers were selected by reviewing whether or
 not they were related to Jeju education. And For keyword analysis, 466 keywords were
 derived and analyzed. The research results are as follows. 1) The first doctoral
 dissertation related to Jeju education was published in 1990. And since 2012, the
 frequency of dissertations publication has increased. From 1990 to 2007, 10
 dissertations were published outside of Jeju. Since 2008, dissertations has been
 published at Jeju National University. Of the total 60 dissertations published since 2008,
 48(80%) dissertations are published by Jeju National University. Doctoral dissertations
 are mostly related to science education and computer education. 2) The network
 attribute has low density between keywords. And the cluster coefficient is high. The
 structure of the network consists of ① keywords related to education programs, ②
 keywords related to humanities, arts, society, and nature in Jeju, which is expressed as
 'Jeju type' ③ keywords related to students & teacher ④ keywords related to curriculum
 and subject content, ⑤ keywords related to educational institutions and policies. Finally,
 based on the research results, the implications and directions of research related to Jeju
 education were suggested.

‘제주교육’ 관련 연구 동향 분석

The purpose of this study is to analyze Jeju education-related research trends through ‘keyword network analysis’. The analysis was conducted by dividing the thesis to be analyzed into the 1st period(1999-2010) and the 2nd period(2011-2022). As a result of the analysis, educational activities such as environment, science, multiculturalism, and community were conducted in connection with the region, centering on elementary schools. In particular, in the second period, research to reveal the identity of Jeju and various multicultural studies were being conducted. In addition, research related to the village education community for linking the region and school was conducted. Finally, along with discussions on research trends related to ‘Jeju education’, future research directions were suggested.

Bibliometric Analysis of Educational Research in 2017 to 2021 using VOSviewer: Google Scholar indexed Research

Education is the study of a group of people's knowledge, abilities, and habits, which is passed down from generation to generation through teaching, training, or research. The goal of this study is to combine mapping analysis with VOSviewer software to undertake a bibliometric analysis of research in the field of education. To acquire research data, the reference manager application is employed. The information gathered is based on search results for the term "education." From the search results, we found 993 articles that were published between 2017 and 2021. According to the findings, the number of studies in 2017 was 232, grew to 263 in 2018, and then continued to fall from 2019 to 2021. In 2021, there will be 39 education-related research publications published in Google Scholar indexed journals. The fundamental reason is that the Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on educational research, as practically everything is focused on Covid-19. The value of bibliometric analysis in providing analytical data about what happens is demonstrated in this work. This study is meant to assist and serve as a resource for researchers in researching and identifying research themes.

Creating Scholarship from Your Daily Work – Tips for Increasing Scholarly Output during Medical Training

Medical training is a rewarding but challenging time in a physician’s career. Balancing clinical work, staying up-to-date with literature, and managing personal life is time-consuming. To add to this, for those who want to pursue a career as a physician-scientist or conduct outcomes research, it is even more challenging, and the word “research” can sometimes sound intimidating. Therefore, in clinical training programs we now often use the world scholarly activity. Scholarly activity is an essential part of medical training and encompasses many pursuits such as case reports, retrospective studies, quality improvement work, educational curriculum development, patient safety projects, meta-analyses and systematic reviews, prospective studies, and randomized controlled trials. While there are several approaches to maximize your scholarly output during medical training, here we review some tips on how to create scholarship from your day-to-day work.
 Saw an interesting case:
 During your training, if you saw an interesting case or a unique presentation of a common clinical presentation or notice a few similar cases, this is an opportunity to publish a case report or case series.1 Several journals also have “image of the month” sections so if there is a striking clinical image, endoscopic, radiographic, or pathological image, you can consider publishing in those sections as well.
 Core lecture:
 As part of your clinical training, you are often asked to review a topic or give a lecture on a topic pertaining to your training. In preparation for that, you review extensive literature and prepare a systematic approach to managing or approaching a clinical problem. Since you have already performed an extensive review of literature, this is an opportunity to convert your work into a review article. Partnering with an expert mentor or colleague will likely provide valuable feedback which will improve the chances of a publication.
 See room for improvement in your clinical work or workflow:
 During our daily work, we often notice opportunities in the clinical work itself or the related workflow, where there is room for improvement. This is a good opportunity to conduct a quality improvement project.2 The classic quality improvement project revolves around the PDSA cycle (plan-do-study-act). There could be several PDSA cycles before improvement is seen. Quality improvement work can both be presented at regional, national, and international meetings as well as can be published.
 Questions about a recent article you read:
 We all read and review recent articles. If there are any questions or points that you need clarification on, this is an opportunity to write a “letter to the editor” to the journal.3
 Created or implemented a new curriculum, module, or examination system:
 The development or implementation of a new curriculum, module or examination, or teaching system falls under the umbrella of educational innovation.4 Systematically sharing your experience at your local institution and lessons learned while implementing it is an opportunity to publish your work and ideas as education-related research.5
 Notice a clinical pattern not described in the literature:
 This provides an opportunity for retrospective research where you can highlight your observations. Oftentimes, these retrospective research projects provide the hypothesis for future clinical trials and prospective studies.
 In summary, there is no one way to succeed in maximizing your scholarly output during clinical training. The above-mentioned strategies provide some suggestions on how you can convert your day-to-day work into clinical scholarship. This allows you to make your work count twice and in the process, one has the opportunity to refine the skills that will eventually help in conducting future clinical research, i.e. using reference manager software, medical writing, and editing, formatting articles to journal formats and most importantly develop critical thinking.

Mathematical Modelling of Teachers’ Intention to Participate in Online Training During Covid-19 Lockdown: Evidence from Emerging Economy

Because of lockdown for Covid-19 pandemic online teacher’s training has taken on paramount importance in the academia. Consequently, a key focus of training and education related research has been discovering ways to motivate individuals to engage in more active behavior. This research identifies the factors influencing teachers’ intention to participate in online training. Specifically, we investigated the impact of theory of planned behavior (TPB), ability, opportunity and motivation. Data were collected from 142 respondents using a structured questionnaire from four different universities of Bangladesh. The result suggests high level of impact on teacher’s intention by perceived behavior control, motivation and ability. Our developed research model empirically advances the TPB model with ability, opportunity and motivation.

Response rates of online surveys in published research: A meta-analysis

The response rates of online surveys were often examined in the literature by comparing to other modes of surveys. Questions regarding what constitutes a respectable response rate for online surveys in research remained unanswered. To fill in the knowledge gap, we conducted a comprehensive search, screened 8672 studies, and examined 1071 online survey response rates reported in education-related research. Our analyses showed the number of online surveys in published research grew steadily across the years. The average online survey response rate is 44.1%. Our results indicate that sending an online survey to more participants did not generate a higher response rate. Instead, sending surveys to a clearly defined and refined population positively impacts the online survey response rate. In addition, pre-contacting potential participants, using other types of surveys in conjunction with online surveys, and using phone calls to remind participants about the online survey could also yield a higher response rate. The use of incentives did not show a significant impact on the response rate of online surveys. Other factors that impacted the rates included the funding status of a project, and the age and occupation of the participants. Concrete suggestions for reviewing and improving the online survey response rates are provided.

Surgical endoscopy education research: how are we doing?

Surgical endoscopy (SE), the official journal of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery, is an important source of new evidence pertaining to surgical education in the field. However, qualitative deficiencies in medical education research have prompted medical education leaders to advocate for increased methodological rigor. The purpose of this study is to review the quality of education-focused research published through SE. A PubMed search examining all SE articles categorized as education-related research from 2010 to 2019 was conducted; studies not meeting inclusion criteria were excluded. Remaining publications were independently reviewed, classified, and scored by 7 raters using the medical education research study quality instrument (MERSQI). Intraclass correlation was calculated and data were examined with descriptive statistics. A total of 227 studies met inclusion criteria. There was no significant difference in number of publications by year (average 25.88 [SD 5.6]); 60% were conducted outside of the United States, and 47% (n = 106) were funded. The average MERSQI was 12.5 (SD 2). Most studies used two-group non-random (42%, n = 96) or post/cross-sectional designs (29%, n = 65). Thirty-six (16%) were randomized controlled trials. Multi-institutional studies comprised 24% (n = 54). Of the manuscripts, 96% (n = 217) reported at least one measure of validity evidence and 28% (n = 67) described three levels of validity evidence. Studies primarily reported changes in skills or knowledge (45%, n = 103) or satisfaction or general facts (44%, n = 99), while patient-related outcomes encompassed 3% (n = 6) of studies. ICC between raters was 0.93 (CI 0.90-0.93, p < 0.001). Based on publications to date, this journal's peer review process appears to facilitate the dissemination of education-related studies of moderate to good quality. However, there were uncovered deficits, ranging from validity evidence to study designs and level of outcomes. This journal's breadth of viewership offers a potential venue to advance education-related research.

Purposeful Field Trip: Impact on Experiential Learning Opportunities and Critical Thinking Skills

While Bloom’s taxonomy is a well-established learning hierarchy, higher-order thinking skills (HOTS), defined as the three upper levels, are seldom attained due to traditional teaching practices and time constraints of units or subjects. Therefore, adopting innovative pedagogy models like experiential learning provides opportunities for the demonstration and development of HOTS. The study’s objective shows that field trips are crucial components of experiential learning, and when designed with a purpose, promote higher-order thinking skills. This study used a descriptive design, specifically videos, to collect qualitative data for small sample sizes followed by a structured questionnaire consisting of closed questions. All videos were transcribed, and thematic analyses were used. The quantitative data were analysed descriptively, and data were presented using frequency distribution. It was found that this field trip assessment design enabled the skills demonstration spanning Bloom’s learning spectrum. Furthermore, HOTS were used more frequently than basic thinking skills. A quantitative survey on student perceptions revealed that pre-trip activities are equally important as during-trip activities. Findings from this exploratory study provide insights for future education-related research in the field of HOTS, transferable skills, and values.

Issues of the Paradigmatic Approach in Educational Research

The paradigmatic approach has great potentials in producing broad and profound knowledge of how education is organized and operates in certain historical conditions but has not received due attention in educational research in Vietnam. Based on knowledge from the philosophy and history of science as well as philosophy and history of education, this article discusses four key intertwined issues in employing the paradigmatic approach in educational research in relation to Kuhn’s “paradigm,” namely understanding’s Kuhn’s work, considering Foucault’s contributions to paradigmatic thinking, articulating features of paradigms in education in distinction with those in other fields, and understanding paradigm as a unit of analysis in educational research.

Exploration of employability perceptions with blended multi-criteria decision-making methods

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to explore employment perception of students as a relevant indicator of higher education quality, using blended multi-criteria decision-making methods.Design/methodology/approachThe differential impact of these variables was analyzed in this paper taking a sample of 641 students and six higher education lecturers identified as experts on young vocational careers. The traditional study of student behavior and perceptions of employability does not incorporate the uncertainty associated with multi-criteria decision processes and is therefore less adapted to the human reasoning process. This research applies traditional techniques together with fuzzy techniques capable of managing more effectively the uncertainty associated with student actions and behaviors.FindingsThis research shows that it is important to consider previous work experience, academic achievement and soft skills developed during education experiences. In this way, this research shows the lecturers how to adapt their pedagogical practices according to students' perceptions of employability and assess their students' perceptions of employability. In addition, lecturers will be able to incorporate the uncertainty associated with decision-making processes to optimize employability perception.Originality/valueHigher education-related research on uncertainty environments as multi-criteria decision problems is still in early stages. The incorporation of the uncertainty associated with decision-making processes to this field allows to optimize employability perception thanks to its adaptation to real human behavior in the adoption of decisions.

This paper summarizes the current situation of the university education informatization, cloud computing and the application of big data in education, and preliminarily constructs the big data platform model of university informatization intelligent teaching service of Yunnan University Teacher Education Alliance Based on cloud computing Part of the content of the model is described to provide reference for regional alliance education related research.

Research in Education Draws Widely From the Social Sciences and Humanities

It is well-known that education related research is carried out within different disciplines and frameworks, but how is it specifically connected through citations to the larger social sciences and humanities? And how can this knowledge be mobilized to improve dialogue between researchers in different communities, given the benefits of integrating different frameworks and methods? We used different scientometric methods to show where exactly research in education connects to social sciences and humanities. This multidisciplinary context provokes a set of integration challenges for research in education. We propose how our work can supplement an existing model in order to give a framework for meeting these challenges with the goal of achieving broader education-related collective knowledge advancement.
