Research on the design of the platform of "teaching and learning" in Colleges and Universities

In order to further improve the quality of education and teaching service, strengthen the communication and interaction between teachers and students, develop a student-centered teaching mode, and promote the continuous improvement of talent training quality, this study aims to build a teaching and learning social network platform with the help of Internet technology and artificial intelligence technology, based on the existing teaching management information system of the school, so as to improve the sharing of teaching resources and the mutual promotion between teachers and students It has five functions, such as the construction of dynamic and experimental platform, the combination of supervision and teaching, and the visualization of teaching data.

An overview of health information management education in Saudi Arabia

Abstract Background In Saudi Arabia, Health Information Management (HIM) programs are established in universities and colleges that offer studies at the Bachelor's and Master's level. Purpose The main objective of this study was to assess the different HIM programs available in Saudi Arabian universities and colleges, in terms of the names of the programs, year of establishment, and other specific differences between them. Another objective was to have input for the establishment of future HIM degrees across Saudi Arabia. Methods A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted to investigate the number, date of establishment, and location of HIM programs available in Saudi Arabian universities and colleges. In this retrospective study, information was collected from the Ministry of Education and updated online websites of universities and colleges. Results A total of 81 universities and colleges across Saudi Arabia were reviewed for the availability of Health Information Management (HIM) programs. Out of the 81 reviewed institutions, 16 had at least one HIM program available. 6 programs were established in private colleges and 10 were in public universities. In terms of the level of education, all of the 16 institutes were offering Bachelor's degree programs; and, 5 of them were offering a Master's degree program. Conclusions HIM undergraduate programs in Saudi Arabia are better established than postgraduate programs. The adequacy of HIM programs in Saudi Arabia can only be judged by a careful analysis of the HIM alumni job placement and workforce needs. The results of this research can be useful to predict the workforce needs to ensure an adequate supply of highly skilled HIM professionals in Saudi Arabia. In this regard, it would be important to systematically monitor trends in healthcare technology and the healthcare industry to identify the level and types of skills required by these professionals.

Research on Informatization Strategies of Education and Teaching Management in Higher Vocational Colleges in the Era of Cloud Computing and Big Data

At present, with the development of information technology, cloud computing and big data have been integrated into various industries in society, and they also have a relatively prominent performance in education and teaching management. The greatly enhanced efficiency of education and teaching information management in universities is a sustainable future for universities. The inevitable choice for sending letters. This article studies and discusses the informatization strategy of education and teaching management in higher vocational colleges in the era of cloud computing and big data, hoping to provide some useful suggestions for the development of higher vocational education in our country.

Higher Education Completion Rates for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students Using A Multi-Agency Matched Population Cohort

Using the Multi-Agency Data Integration Project (MADIP), which combines health, tax, welfare and demographic data with student data, our analysis looked at the relationship between income support and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander university completion rates.
 IntroductionDomestic undergraduate university completion rates of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students are significantly lower (40%) than non-Indigenous students (66%). Few prior studies have used population level matched data from multiple agencies to analyse the determinants of Australian Indigenous completion rates.
 Objectives and ApproachWe aimed to quantify the major determinants driving the completion rates of Indigenous students in Australian undergraduate university courses compared with domestic non-Indigenous students. We used the Higher Education Information Management System (HEIMS) linked to the MADIP creating approximately 555, 000 records. A Random forest tree was constructed to determine the most important indicators for outcome of interest which were then used for matching and statistical analysis. Summary statistics and a binomial logit was used on the matched sample to confirm significance.
 ResultsWe found that Indigenous students are more likely to start university belonging to around three equity groups such as having a lower socio-economic status background, older commencement age and being the first member of their family to attend university. However, Indigenous status remains a significant contributor to lower completion rates after controlling for a wide range of equity groups. One factor that has a positive influence on Indigenous university completion rates is access to study assistance. Completion rates for Indigenous students who were not members of other equity groups on income support was 70 per cent compared to 57 per cent for similar students on no income support.
 Conclusion / ImplicationsThese linked datasets provide the opportunity to better evaluate the drivers of completion rates of Australian Indigenous students to inform and evaluate policy reforms.

This article briefly introduces the blockchain technology, and at the same time explores and analyzes the development of the blockchain technology. This article starts with the relevant core literature in the field of “blockchain + education” in China, and understands the development trends of the blockchain technology. The research hotspots in the education field focus on the in-depth analysis of the research on blockchain technology in the field of education resource sharing and education information management, so as to grasp its current research status. Finally, based on the implementation of the blockchain technology in the implementation of the project, it discusses the facing challenges and proposes a new path for innovation and development looking forward to provide a reference for the deep integration of blockchain and education.

RETRACTED: Application of English education information management system based on convolution neural network classification algorithm

In order to improve the convenience of English education management and improve the quality of teaching, this paper proposes the application of English education information management system based on convolution neural network classification algorithm. Specifically, it relies on spark cloud technology and data mining technology of cash to build an English education information management system. Secondly, in the educational information management platform, convolution neural network classification algorithm is used to mine useful information. Convolution network mainly combines the emotional words, parts of speech, degree adverbs, negatives, punctuation and other word features that affect the emotional tendency of the text to form an extended text feature. Then, the word vector feature and the extended text feature are used as two input channels of convolution neural network, and the dynamic K-max pooling strategy is adopted to improve the ability of feature extraction of the model. The experiment in the English education information management system shows that the classification performance of the algorithm in this paper is not only higher than that of the single channel convolution neural network algorithm, but also has some advantages compared with some representative algorithms. In addition, experiments verify the effectiveness of the educational information management system.

Making the user friendly: the ontological politics of digital data platforms

ABSTRACT Mapping India’s vast, complex, and unruly education system through the systematic generation of accurate and current data, and encouraging accountability by persuading a diverse array of actors to engage with such data, is an ambitious, if not heroic, project. Yet this is what India’s Education Information Management System (EMIS), the Unified District Information System of Education (U-DISE), has set out to do. This digital platform must persuade actors in India’s 1.5 million schools to regularly upload trustworthy data to populate the database. A range of actors must be cajoled into becoming data-informed, to plan and strategize, and to enforce accountability. This paper traces how U-DISE attempts to impose its desires on a range of distributed actors, and how these actors respond to its overtures. Using concepts from Science and Technology Studies (STS), and based on interviews with the designers of U-DISE, central and state government officials, school-level data coordinators and NGOs and activists, as well as policy documents and government websites, we argue in this paper that, to realise their ambitions, digital platforms not only aim to be ‘user friendly’, but also engage in efforts to make the user friendly.

Differences in the Reading Performance of Texas Grade 4 Students as a Function of Their Economic Status: A Multiyear, Statewide Analysis

In this study, the degree to which differences were present in the reading performance of Grade 4 Texas students as a function of their economic status (i.e., Not Poor, Moderately Poor, and Very Poor) was analyzed. Data obtained from the Texas Education Agency Public Education Information Management System for all Grade 4 students in Texas who took the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness Reading exam, were analyzed for the 2012-2013, 2013-2014, and 2014-2015 school years. In all three years examined, statistically significant differences were established in not only overall reading performance, but also in all three Reading Reporting categories. A clear stair-step effect was present. The higher the degree of poverty, the lower student STAAR Reading test scores were. Finally, the higher the degree of poverty, the lower the percentages of students who met the passing standard on the STAAR Reading exam. Future research and implications for policy and practice are suggested.

Application of smart safety training and education in network teaching management

Aiming at the problems of poor resource scheduling and low degree of information fusion in the traditional network management method of intelligent security training and education optimization, an intelligent security training and education optimization network management model based on big data mining is proposed. Building intelligent safety training and education of big data fusion analysis model, using the method of association rules mining, complete the intelligent safety training and education statistics analysis, under the Internet environment using quantitative sensing fusion tracking method, the network teaching management information fusion processing, build large data information scheduling model based on network teaching management, fuzzy information fusion method to reconstruct 3 d information of the network teaching management, to establish the network teaching management big data spectral analysis model, the introduction of phase space reconstruction method, the network resource scheduling optimization of teaching management. The experimental results show that the proposed method has better resource scheduling performance, higher degree of information fusion, and can improve the ability of intelligent security training and education management.

Gender differences in social studies skills: A Texas, multiyear study

In this investigation, the degree to which boys and girls differed in their social studies skills in Texas was addressed. Data were obtained from the Texas Education Agency Public Education Information Management System for all Texas high school students for the 2004-2005 to the 2011-2012 school years. Inferential statistical analyses revealed the presence of statistically significant differences in social studies skills between boys and girls. Girls had statistically lower average raw scores in all five social studies skills objectives than boys. Implications for policy and for practice were made, along with recommendations for future research.

Reading and Mathematics Differences by Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program Placement for White, Hispanic, and Black Texas Grade 6, 7, and 8 Boys: A Statewide Investigation

Analyzed in this study was the extent to which differences were present in reading and mathematics achievement as a function of Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program placements for Texas Grades 6, 7, and 8 boys. Inferential statistical procedures, used on data obtained from the Texas Education Agency Public Education Information Management System, yielded statistically significant differences in the academic achievement of White, Hispanic, and Black boys as a function of being placed in a Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program. White, Hispanic, and Black boys who were assigned to a Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program placement had statistically significantly lower reading and mathematics performance than their peers who were not assigned to a Juvenile Justice Alternative Education Program placement. Implications, suggestions, and recommendations for policy and practice are provided.

La experiencia universitaria. Análisis de factores motivacionales y sociodemográficos

En el presente trabajo se analiza el impacto de las motivaciones de elección de los estudios, el sexo, el área científica y el nivel educativo de los padres. La muestra está integrada por 9 360 egresados. Los resultados indican que las motivaciones de tipo intrínsecas, sobretodo la vocación, conducen a una mayor satisfacción, variando según el área científica. Las mujeres son más vocacionales y tienen una mayor satisfacción. Los alumnos cuyos padres tienen bajo nivel de estudios tienen una mejor valoración de la experiencia universitaria. Además, a través de la técnica de segmentación jerárquica se determina el perfil de egresado que presenta una mayor satisfacción. Conocer la importancia de las variables pre-universitarias y su impacto en la satisfacción tras finalizar los estudios es una información fundamental para orientar las decisiones de las instituciones universitarias, de los futuros estudiantes y de la administración educativa.

A qualitative evaluation of clinically coded data quality from health information manager perspectives.

It is essential that clinical documentation and clinical coding be of high quality for the production of healthcare data. This study assessed qualitatively the strengths and barriers regarding clinical coding quality from the perspective of health information managers. Ten health information managers and clinical coding quality coordinators who oversee clinical coders (CCs) were identified and recruited from nine provinces across Canada. Semi-structured interviews were conducted, which included questions on data quality, costs of clinical coding, education for health information management, suggestions for quality improvement and barriers to quality improvement. Interviews were recorded, transcribed and analysed using directed content analysis and informed by institutional ethnography. Common barriers to clinical coding quality included incomplete and unorganised chart documentation, and lack of communication with physicians for clarification. Further, clinical coding quality suffered as a result of limited resources (e.g. staffing and budget) being available to health information management departments. Managers unanimously reported that clinical coding quality improvements can be made by (i) offering interactive training programmes to CCs and (ii) streamlining sources of information from charts. Although clinical coding quality is generally regarded as high across Canada, clinical coding managers perceived quality to be limited by incomplete and inconsistent chart documentation, and increasing expectations for data collection without equal resources allocated to clinical coding professionals. This study presents novel evidence for clinical coding quality improvement across Canada.

The teacher of the University is obliged to change, which requires continuous improvement both in the subject area and in the field of teaching methods, acquiring skills in information systems of educational process management. The relevance of the problem of clarifying the functions of professional activity of teachers of educational institutions of higher education is due to the need for rational allocation of time for quality performance of their work. The activity of university teachers in modern conditions is aimed at the training of competitive personnel, which requires significant intellectual, temporary efforts from these employees; readiness for effective social interaction with colleagues, students, partners; technological competence in solving problems in the information and educational environment and information management systems of the educational process associated with the organization of research, teaching, organizational, methodological and contact work. The article presents the results obtained by the following research methods: analysis and synthesis of scientific information, professional standard Teacher of professional training and the draft of the professional standard Scientist, the results of the research in the field of professional activity of teachers; generalization and systematization of scientific facts and provisions; survey of teachers of educational organizations (monographic sample was 20 people). Experimental work was to determine the time spent on the functions of the teaching staff of educational institutions of higher education, to determine the importance of each of the selected functions and to assess the satisfaction of teachers from the results of their functions.

Technologies Frequently Used by Elementary Principals

Technology continues to be a driving force for change in instructional practices. Principals have transitioned from managers to instructional leaders that support innovative technology practices. This study sampled 30 elementary school principals' technology usage from two school districts and focused on discovering the hardware and software used directly by the elementary principals and how they learned to use those technologies. Data analysis from the online questionnaire and the interviews revealed that the elementary principals used technology predominately for administrative purposes. All the elementary principals surveyed reported that the type of software applications used by them on a daily basis consisted primarily of: web based data analysis tools such as Euphoria Aware, Workshop, Forethought, web based Public Education Information Management System (PEIMS), and productivity tools in the form of word processing, spreadsheets and presentation applications. The amount of time on a daily and weekly basis outweighed time and effort they put in to technology for instructional purposes. Results from the interviews indicated that these elementary principals all had smart phones, which enabled them to view the Internet, use social media and send and receive e-mail messages. In addition, 75 % elementary principals surveyed reported learning the technologies on their own with some support from their district's technology support staff.

MODEL PENGELOLAAN INFORMASI DAN STRATEGI KOMUNIKASI DALAM MEMBANGUN KEPRIBADIAN REMAJA: HASIL NEED ASSESMENT DI KOTA DENPASAR

Indonesia's young generation must be ready to become actors in the midst of global competition and free markets (AFTA) today. However, they must be prepared to face the challenges of the development of mass media that contribute to the formation of their personality. This paper raises the problem: (1) How is educational information management for adolescents? (2) What is the communication strategy that needs to be applied in shaping adolescent personality? The data collection process is carried out by observation, documentation study and in-depth interviews with 15 informants from among educators, observers of adolescent culture, managers and representative media observers. The results of the study indicate that information circulating from the internet and mass media today tends to be less educative. Among them are teaching violent behavior, not creative, luxurious lifestyle without effort, individualism and materialism. Furthermore, communication strategies undertaken by stakeholders are not yet synergistic in supporting the education and development of adolescent personalities. The implementation of media regulations that support education has not been effective, nor has the role of educational institutions, the role of families, and environmental conditions in society also been conducive to delivering healthy, intelligent, independent and responsible future generations. For this reason, effective information management and communication strategies to support the formation of future adolescent personalities need to be developed.
 

School Punishment and Education: Racial/Ethnic Disparities With Grade Retention and the Role of Urbanicity

There are racial/ethnic disparities associated with school punishment practices and academic progress. In addition, research suggests that urban schools have stricter school punishment practices and higher grade retention rates. What remains unknown, however, is the relationship between race/ethnicity, school punishment practices, and retention rates across urban, rural, and suburban schools. Thus, this study draws from the Texas Education Agency’s Public Education Information Management System and Critical Race Theory to investigate if there is link between school punishment practices and academic progress, as well as establishing if there are racial/ethnic disparities in urban, rural, and suburban contexts.

Novel Educational Information Management Platform Improves the Surgical Skill Evaluation Process of Surgical Residents

We sought to increase compliance and timeliness of surgery resident operative evaluation, by providing faculty and residents with a Platform-linking evaluation to analytics and machine-learning-facilitated case logging. We built a HIPAA-compliant web-based Platform for comprehensive management of resident education information, including resident operative performance evaluations. To assess evaluation timeliness, we compared the lag time for Platform-based evaluations to that of end-of-rotation evaluations. We also assessed evaluation compliance, based on a time threshold of 5 days for Platform evaluations and 2 weeks for end-of-rotation evaluations. University of Massachusetts, Baystate Medical Center, General Surgery Residency. Twenty three attendings and 43 residents for the Platform cohort; 15 services and 45 residents for the end-of-rotation cohort. Three hundred and fifty-eight Platform evaluations were completed by 23 attendings for 43 residents for March through October 2017. Six hundred and ten end-of-rotation evaluations by 15 attendings for 45 residents were used for comparison (September 2015 through June 2017). Of Platform evaluations, 41.3% were completed within 24 hours of the operation (16.5% in 6 hours, 33.3% in 12 hours, and 62.2% in 48 hours), with 24.3% of evaluations completed within 3 hours after e-mail reminders. In the first 6 weeks (March 1 through April 12) 4.5 ± 3.7 evaluations were completed per week compared to 18.8 ± 5.8 in the last (September 18 through October 31). Evaluation lag times improved with the use of the Platform, both for median lag of 35 days earlier (1 ± 1.5 days Platform, 36 ± 28.2 days traditional, p < 0.0001) and a mean lag of 41 days earlier (3.0 ± 4.7 days Platform, 44.0 ± 32.6 days traditional, p < 0.0001). Our comprehensive Platform facilitated faculty compliance with evaluation requirements and timeliness of availability of performance information (often in near real time) for both residents and residency leadership. The added value of the Platform's integration of evaluations with resident and attending case logging may account for the rapidly increasing number of operative skill evaluations over the short time span since implementation.
