A Study on Strategies for Promoting Regional Economic Development through the Cultural Industry

With the vigorous development of the cultural industry across various regions, it is influencing regional economic development in unprecedented ways. As an emerging industrial form, the cultural industry, characterized by innovation, high added value, and low energy consumption, has injected new vitality into regional economic development. In recent years, the importance of cultural development to regional economic growth has been increasingly recognized. The development of the cultural industry not only enhances the cultural soft power of a region but also creates job opportunities, promotes industrial upgrading, and optimizes the economic structure, thereby driving the sustainable and healthy development of regional economies. In the new era, to promote economic development within regions, local areas should fully utilize and explore their cultural characteristics, making the cultural industry a key engine for regional economic growth. By integrating local cultural features and developing cultural industries with local characteristics, the competitiveness of the cultural industry can be enhanced, and the attractiveness and cohesion of the regional economy can be strengthened, thus promoting the common development of the cultural industry and regional economy, and achieving comprehensive progress in economy and society.

Quality of life and regional economic development: Evidence from China.

With the development of China's economy entering a new stage, the quality of life, which centers on the well-being of residents, provides an essential hand in promoting the transformation of the regional economy from high-speed development to high-quality development. Based on a panel threshold regression model, we examine in this paper whether quality of life helps regional economies realize developmental convergence. The research shows that: (1) The quality of life overall can promote regional economic development and passes the series test with relatively robust results. (2) The quality of life has a non-linear effect on regional economic growth, which is mainly manifested in the fact that the impact is more significant in regions with higher levels of quality of life and weaker in regions with lagging quality of life and may widen the gap between regions at the same time. (3) We categorize the study regions to test further regional heterogeneity based on regional location and development status. At the Quality of Life Level-I regions, their influence on economic development has a more substantial pulling effect. Therefore, each region should seize the strategic opportunity to improve the quality of life, focus on the balanced development of the quality of life, strengthen policy support and social security, and strive to promote the coordinated development of China's regional economy.

Growth and distribution regimes under global value chains: Diversification, integration, and uneven development

This study investigates the macroeconomic interactions between productive structure and income distribution in the context of Global Value Chains (GVC). Our research goes beyond the traditional scope by presenting a detailed typology that examines how globalisation has amplified uneven development processes on a global scale. This in-depth exploration provides valuable insights into the intricate interplay between global economic integration and regional development disparities, thereby contributing to the broader understanding of growth and distribution in the context of globalisation. We propose a theoretical framework inspired by the Structuralist literature to identify three distinct regimes in globalised production chains: (1) a structure/diversification regime based on the Balance of Payments Constrained Model (BPCM) literature, (2) an integration regime derived from the GVC literature, and (3) a functional income distribution regime in open economies. We use Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to create indices (proxies) for each regime to then identify country patterns within a structured typology. We then analyse growth trajectories and estimate the causal relationship between these regimes and per-capita growth using multiple regression models – fixed effects (FE), instrumental variables (IV), and generalised method of moments (GMM). Our dataset includes data from 60 countries between 1995 and 2018, sourced from the World Development Indicators (WDI), World Input-Output Database (WIOD), Trade in Value Added (TiVA), and the Penn World Tables (PWT). This study significantly enhances the understanding of structuralist growth models by offering a comprehensive and unified narrative on the variety of economic growth regimes within Global Value Chains (GVCs).

Research on urban agglomeration spatial network structure in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River based on real-time traffic accessibility scenario analysis

ABSTRACT Investigating the spatial network structure of urban agglomerations based on traffic accessibility has an important practical significance in accelerating the process of regional integration. Taking urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River (UAMRYR) as the case study, this study aims to examine the characteristics associated with the spatial network structure based on traffic accessibility and its changes under scenarios of different traffic accessibilities by adopting real-time traffic data, modified gravity model, and social network analysis (SNA). The main conclusions are as follows. Wuhan, Changsha, and Nanchang are the central cities in the spatial network; the spatial network structure of UAMRYR is imbalanced and in the agglomeration stage of regional economic development. With the development of traffic accessibility, resources first gather in the individual center cities and then spread to other cities, and the network tends toward equilibrium.

Empirical Insights - Mapping the Key Factors that Have an Influence on Clusters Competitiveness

In today's global economy, clusters have emerged as crucial drivers of regional economic development and competitiveness. This article presents a comprehensive literature review that sheds light on the factors that influence the competitiveness of clusters. Drawing upon a broad range of scholarly sources across various fields, including economics, geography, and management, we synthesize existing research to identify and analyze the key determinants that shape cluster competitiveness. The review highlights the importance of several factors such as industry specialization, knowledge spillovers, innovation networks, infrastructure, and institutional support in enhancing the competitive performance of clusters. Furthermore, the paper critically examines the methodological approaches employed in studying cluster competitiveness, providing valuable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers. By analyzing and evaluating the literature, this paper provides a deeper understanding of the dynamics of cluster competitiveness. Therefore, the research contributes to the growing body of knowledge on this important subject and underscores the significance of clusters in shaping regional economic development and competitiveness.

Inovasi Perekonomian Digital dalam mengatasi Disparitas Regional Strategi Baru dalam Kebijakan Perekonomian di Indonesia

This research explores a new approach in Indonesia's economic strategy that specifically prioritizes digital economic innovation as a tool to address regional inequality. The background to the problem highlights the gaps in economic development in various regions in Indonesia and the importance of economic transformation through the use of digital technology. The literature study in this research presents a conceptual framework that describes the relationship between digital economic innovation, economic policy, and efforts to mitigate regional imbalances. The research process involved secondary data analysis, surveys, and interviews with relevant stakeholders. The research results show that the integration of digital economic innovation in economic policy has the potential to reduce regional imbalances by accelerating economic growth, creating job opportunities, and supporting market penetration for local companies. Conclusion, This research makes an important contribution to the development of future-oriented, data-based and technology-focused policies to address regional inequality, accelerate equitable economic growth and improve the welfare of the Indonesian population. Simulation and multi-scenario prediction of land-use change in the Gansu section of the Yellow River Basin, China

Introduction: The Gansu section of the Yellow River Basin is an important water resource conservation and replenishment area for the entire Yellow River Basin. With urbanization and socio-economic development, it is urgent to study the characteristics of land-use change and its future simulation in order to realize the coordinated ecological and economic development.Methods: Based on the patch-generating land-use simulation (PLUS) model, this paper investigated the main drivers of land-use type expansion with a comprehensive consideration of natural and socio-economic aspects; moreover, the study simulated land-use change in 2030 under the four scenarios of natural development, cultivated land protection, ecological priority, and economic construction.Results: The results showed the following: 1) the prediction of land-use types continued the historical evolution since 1980. Grassland, cultivated land, and forest land were still the dominant land types, accounting for more than 87% of the basin’s total area. Water bodies and wetlands remained relatively stable, and there was an obvious increase of approximately 20% in construction land. 2) Construction land and grassland were primarily driven by the social factor of the distance from the primary road and the distance from the secondary road, respectively. The cultivated land was greatly affected by the economic factor of population density. 3) The cultivated land protection scenario was the only one of the four scenarios that could make the cultivated land area increase positively, with an increase rate of 0.5%. This scenario also restricted effectively the conversion of cultivated land into construction land. The ecological priority scenario can expand grassland obviously with a proportion of 1.82% and slow down oasis desertion. The economic construction scenario can increase the construction land area the most by a rate of 25.5% to accelerate the economic development of specific regions in the study area.Discussion: Therefore, implementing policies on the basis of choosing suitable scenarios in different areas was significant for optimizing the land-use structure, promoting the efficient use of land resources and ecological environment in the Gansu section of the Yellow River Basin.

Study on the Impact of Agricultural Supply Chain Finance on Poverty Reduction: An Empirical Analysis Based on Nine Provinces in China's Border Region

This paper employs panel data from nine provinces and regions in China's border areas from 2011 to 2021 to empirically test the impact of agricultural supply chain finance in China's border areas on poverty reduction. The intermediary mechanism test model is used to investigate the underlying mechanisms. The findings of this research indicate that the development of agricultural supply chain finance has a significant effect on improving per capita disposable income in rural areas. There is, however, heterogeneity in the impact of this development across different border provinces and regions. The Southwest Border Region has the most pronounced effect in improving per capita disposable income in rural areas through agricultural supply chain finance. This research result provides strong theoretical support for the development of agricultural supply chain finance in China's border areas and also provides important reference basis for relevant policy formulation. As further research is conducted, it is anticipated that more results will emerge, which will facilitate the advancement of economic development and poverty reduction initiatives in China's border regions.

Is GRDP a mediating factor in enhancing local tax revenues due to ICT development in Indonesia?

Purpose: This study aims to investigate whether the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of the information and communication sector mediates the relationship between Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development and local tax revenue enhancement across districts and municipalities in Indonesia. Design/Methodology/Approach: This study uses a quantitative approach to examine how ICT growth, access, infrastructure and utilization affect local taxes and regional levies using panel data from 2017 to 2021.The GRDP of the information and communication sector is incorporated as a crucial moderating variable. Findings: The findings reveal that the GRDP of the information and communication sector plays a vital moderating role in the relationships between ICT factors and local taxes and levies. ICT development benefits local tax systems through increased efficiency, transparency, reduced disparities and enhanced accessibility. Effective ICT infrastructure enables digital fiscal transactions, increasing revenues while improving collection efficiency and reducing income disparities among provinces. High ICT utilization supported by technological proficiency enables local governments to enhance local taxes and levies. Practical Implications: An increase in the GRDP of the information and communication sector leads to higher tax revenues for local governments, funding public services and infrastructure development. Additionally, it attracts investments from other sectors, boosting regional levies and promoting overall regional economic development. The study highlights leveraging the GRDP of this sector as a strategic factor to enhance local tax revenue and regional levies across Indonesian provinces contributing to fiscal decentralization efforts.

Gender Role Dynamics in Economic Development: Challenges and Opportunities for Women's Empowerment

The role of gender in economic development has become a major concern in the context of women's empowerment. This article investigates those dynamics with a focus on the challenges and opportunities faced in women's economic empowerment efforts. Through a comprehensive review of the literature, we explore the role of gender in economic development, explain the various challenges women face in access and control of economic resources, and identify opportunities to increase their empowerment. We also discuss the impact of gender roles in the context of global and regional economic development.

The impact of urbanization on food security in China

Against the background of urbanization's rapid development in China from 1984 to 2020, this research evaluates the mechanisms of its impact and food security by constructing a comprehensive evaluation index system for regional food security and verifying urbanization's spatial spillover effect on such security. We present the following findings. (1) A greater level of urbanization has a clear spatial effect on improving the level of food security in China. (2) Urbanization development plays a vital role in advancing local food security and at the same time has a greater negative impact on expanding surrounding food security. (3) The spatial spillover effects of urbanization on food security vary greatly, often according to different levels of regional economic development and natural geographic settings. This paper offers recommendations for controlling regional urbanization development, improving the radiation-driven role of urbanization, and implementing differentiated regional policies.

Big data analysis technology in regional economic market planning and enterprise market value prediction

Abstract Market planning for regional economic development is a crucial task connected to stability and systematicness and influences the unique outcomes of regional economic growth. As a result, market planning for regional economic development must be given more weight. There are several issues with regional economies currently developing in many parts of our country. Lack of focus on market planning for regional economic growth results in several flaws in market planning, making it challenging to support sustainable development. The accurate analysis of diverse massive economic datasets has significant research value. The aim of this study is to provide an overview of market planning and regional economic and industrial development, analyze the effects of market planning on regional economic and industrial development, identify issues with market planning and regional economic and industrial development, and suggest solutions. This article employs big data analysis technology to forecast corporate market value and develop regional economic markets. The system is employed to conduct experimental big data analysis within a specific field for an extended period. According to test analysis results, the system’s data analysis accuracy can reach up to 95.8%, which has a promising future for use.

The Impact of Digital Inclusive Finance on High-Quality Economic Development: A Research Study

As China's economy transitions from high-speed growth to high-quality development, digital inclusive finance emerges as a dynamic and pivotal sector within the country's financial system. This domain plays a crucial role in addressing the shortcomings of traditional financial services, enhancing the efficiency of financial services, promoting consumption, and driving economic growth. As the turmoil caused by the COVID-19 epidemic gradually stabilizes, the impact of the epidemic on the economic development of various countries is gradually reduced, and the development of the global economy gradually returns to normal, China's economic development is facing new opportunities and challenge. Given the current challenges in China's economic environment, China has made new adjustments and begun to promote high-quality economic development on the premise of significantly improving quality and efficiency. Therefore, in the current stage of China’s economic development, it is imperative to investigate whether digital inclusive finance can indeed foster high-quality economic development. This paper begins by reviewing literature relevant to digital inclusive finance and high-quality economic development. Subsequently, utilizing panel data from 2011 to 2020 across 30 provinces, a bidirectional fixed-effects model is employed to validate the positive impact of digital inclusive finance on high-quality economic development. The study further explores whether digital inclusive finance exhibits positive effects on high-quality economic development in different regions. Finally, based on the research findings, the paper concludes with several policy recommendations for optimizing the role of digital finance in promoting regional economic growth.

Research of multimodal transport potential of major cities in China based on the satellite remote sensing

Abstract. By two or more modes of transportation to connect with each other and complete the transport process, multimodal transport could significantly improve transport efficiency, reduce costs, while promote energy conservation and emission reduction, compared with the traditional single mode of transport. Therefore, the multimodal transport development reflects the level of national or regional economic development to some extent. In this study, multimodal transport potential index was built to evaluate the possibility of multimodal transport. Remote sensing images from satellites were used to extract roads, railway stations and airports. A method was proposed to derive the road-rail transport potential index and road-air transport potential index, and then for the analysis of multimodal transport potential in 36 cities. Results show that there is a big gap among 36 cities on the development potential of road-rail and road-air transport. Compared with the road-rail transport potential index, the distribution of road-air transport potential index is more consistent among and within the seven regions. Index values of megacity and super cities are much higher than type I and II big cities. Moreover, in the 36 cities, there is a positive correlation between the multimodal transport potential index and GDP. The research results could be used to quantitatively evaluate the development of transport infrastructure, consequently provide more solid and reliable basic information for the planning, design and scheme adjustment of multimodal transport, thus comprehensively improve the efficiency and quality of multimodal transport, serve the territorial spatial planning.

Research on the Development Mechanism and Path of Wenzhou Digital Industrial Cluster Under the Background of Digital Economy

With the advent of the digital age and the development of artificial intelligence, digital economy has become the main economic form of today's society. In this context, the conditions for the development of digital industrial clusters have been formed, and industrial clusters have become an important support for the high-quality development of national and regional economies and an important factor affecting the international competitiveness of industries. The digital industrial cluster in Wenzhou area is also developing rapidly in recent years. Based on the analysis of the digital industrial cluster in Wenzhou area, this paper puts forward five key mechanisms for the development of the digital industrial cluster in Wenzhou, namely, the market mechanism and enterprise autonomy, the innovation-driven mechanism. Policy guidance and support, network and synergistic effect and talent attraction and training. The specific strategies to promote the development of Wenzhou digital industry cluster include strengthening infrastructure construction, optimizing innovation ecology, introducing and cultivating high-end talents, etc., hoping to provide reference for relevant workers.

Investigating the impact of artificial intelligence development on water pollution in China

Analysing the impacts of AI development on water pollution is of great significance for improving water environment management measures and promoting global sustainable development. In this study, macro and micro panel data of China from 2008 to 2019 were used to measure the development level of AI at the industry and provincial levels in China, and a panel data regression model was constructed to analyse the effects of AI development on water pollution and regional heterogeneity. The measurement results show that the development level of AI is increasing. Among the six industries, the intelligence level of the manufacturing industry has developed the fastest, by approximately 48.74 times compared with the baseline. At the provincial level, Guangdong Province made the greatest progress in intelligence level, increasing by approximately 23.6 times. The regression results show that AI technology is helpful in reducing the level of water pollution, and this conclusion remains valid after the regression of instrumental variables and robustness testing. In terms of regional heterogeneity, AI technology can significantly reduce the degree of water pollution in eastern and western China. However, the development of AI technology in the central region has no significant impact on water pollution, and a risk of increasing the degree of water pollution exists. The reasons may be that the eastern region has high levels of economic vitality and technological innovation and a strong ability to transform AI achievements, which can significantly improve the water environment. Industrial support policies in the western region are strong, and the application of AI can quickly improve production methods and significantly reduce water pollution levels. In comparison, the levels of economic development, technological innovation, and policy support in the central region need to be strengthened, so the environmental effect of AI is not significant.

The Influence of Natural Resources, Energy Consumption, and Renewable Energy on Economic Growth in ASEAN Region Countries

This research aims to identify and analyze the role of natural resources, CO2 emissions, and renewable energy on the economic growth of countries in the ASEAN region. In this study, we tested whether a dynamic process occurred based on a dynamic panel data model while comparing it with static panel data. The dataset used is ASEAN region countries with time series data from 2000-2021. The analysis tools used are static and dynamic panel data. The research results found that natural resources, FDI, and renewable energy significantly positively affect economic growth in the ASEAN region. Conversely, CO2 has a negative and insignificant effect. These results prove that the ASEAN region's economic development has been clean energy-oriented.

Integrated Supervision Center of Huaihua International Inland Port: The Feasibility and Essentiality

Building an integrated supervision center in Huaihua is feasible and essential because Huaihua City is at the center of the border regions of Hunan, Hubei, Chongqing, Guizhou, and Guangxi. In addition, it is a national transportation hub in China because of its distinctive geographic location, abundant resources and labor force. Due to the development of Huaihua International Inland Port, Huaihua has an excellent opportunity to be a logistics and trade center for inland areas in Central China. Given considerations in national strategies, food security, economic development and other factors, an integrated supervision center can be built in Huaihua, as it can promote the connectivity of the Wuling Mountain area and the neighboring provinces, contribute to regional economic development, and enhance China’s national security and supervisory capacity. The development of Huaihua as an integrated supervision center facilitates the processing, bonded warehousing and logistics distribution of high-quality imported commodities from neighboring countries, especially ASEAN countries.

Research on Green Process Innovation Enabling the Synergistic Effect of Pollution Reduction and Carbon Reduction

Achieving the objective of "peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality" in the new stage of development will require the synergistic effect of pollution reduction and carbon reduction. In the new stage of development, achieving the goal of "peak carbon dioxide emissions and carbon neutrality" will necessitate the synergistic effect of pollution reduction and carbon reduction. This study assesses the degree to which pollution reduction and carbon reduction have a synergistic effect using the coupling coordination model, and uses the fixed effect model, the dynamic panel GMM model, the OLS model and the threshold effect model to examine how green process innovation affects pollutant reduction and carbon reduction synergistically, including direct, heterogeneous, and nonlinear effects. The results show that: firstly, green process innovation has a direct promoting effect on synergistic effect of pollution reduction and carbon reduction; Secondly, due to the differences in the economic development of different regions in China, the impact of green process innovation on the synergistic effect of pollution reduction and carbon reduction is heterogeneous in different regions, and presents a gradient distribution of "east > west > middle". Finally, there is a threshold effect in the impact of green process innovation on regional synergistic effect of pollution reduction and carbon reduction. This paper provides some reference value for promoting green process innovation and enhancing the collaborative impact of mitigating pollution and decreasing carbon emissions.
