MDM‐Incorporated Quad Donut Modes OCDMA‐FSO Scheme for Secure High‐Altitude Platforms‐To‐Satellite Scenarios

ABSTRACTThe next generation of communication networks is envisioned to be driven by high‐altitude platform (HAP)‐to‐satellite systems. License‐free narrow beam free space optics (FSO) can provide uninterrupted connectivity in satellite‐enabled Internet of Things scenarios. This work proposes a HAP‐to‐satellite hybrid mode division multiplexing–optical code division multiple access (MDM‐OCDMA) scheme employing zero cross‐correlation (ZCC) and multidiagonal (MD) codes. In high‐speed satellite communications, a 12 × 10‐Gbps hybrid MDM‐OCDMA scheme carrying four donut modes (0, 1, 2, and 3) enables high channel capacity, sufficient spectral efficiency, and data security under severe link conditions. Based on simulations, the hybrid MDM‐OCDMA scheme using the ZCC code achieves a greater FSO link distance of 420 m compared with when using the MD code at a 10e‐9 error correction limit under clear air and weak turbulent scenario. The reliable transmission distance of 250 m is achievable with the 120‐Gbps proposed system, assuming pointing errors of 2 mrad, 1‐dB receiver, and 2.5‐dB transmitter losses. The results also show that the system can sustain an additional loss of 1.5–2 dB over 250 m for all donut modes. Additionally, the system using ZCC code contributes to low power consumption over MD and variable weight ZCC code and thus requires a minimum received power of −4.02 dBm. It also offers high optical signal to noise of 42–52 dB, −11.58 to −22.20 dB of gain, 11.58–22.20 dB of noise figure, and −48.11 to −58.73 dBm of signal power at output over 200–700 m range up to 2 dB of additional loss. Comparative analysis indicates that the proposed system is more efficient, less complex, adequately distance‐friendly (=420 m), and capable of higher data rates (=120 Gbps) compared with other works. This makes it a promising solution for future high‐speed satellite communications considering the impact of link losses and atmospheric conditions.

Full-duplex dynamic TDMA scheme and clock synchronization and compensation method for the multi-user UWOC system.

In this Letter, we propose a full-duplex dynamic time division multiple access (FDD-TDMA) scheme for multi-user underwater wireless optical communication (UWOC). It supports full-duplex communication through wavelength division duplex (WDD) and enhances the system throughput using dynamic time resource allocation. Additionally, a clock synchronization and compensation method is proposed for precise clock synchronization without time-keeping. With the proposed FDD-TDMA scheme and the clock synchronization and compensation method, we establish a two-user UWOC system based on on-off keying (OOK) modulation. Experiments are conducted in a 10 m water pool environment. The experimental results show that the designed system can achieve a data rate of 25 Mbps without error codes and 40 Mbps with a bit error rate (BER) below the forward error correction (FEC) limit. The FDD-TDMA scheme notably improves the system throughput when communication demands among users are variable compared to the conventional time division multiple access (TDMA). Moreover, a reduction in phase deviations from microseconds to ten nanoseconds is achieved by the clock synchronization and compensation method.

A 0.00179 mm2/Ch Chopper-Stabilized TDMA Neural Recording System With Dynamic EOV Cancellation and Predictive Mixed-Signal Impedance Boosting.

This article presents a digitally-assisted multi-channel neural recording system. The system uses a 16-channel chopper-stabilized Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) scheme to record multiplexed neural signals into a single shared analog front end (AFE). The choppers reduce the total integrated noise across the modulated spectrum by 2.4 × and 4.3 × in Local Field Potential (LFP) and Action Potential (AP) bands, respectively. In addition, a novel impedance booster based on Sign-Sign least mean squares (LMS) adaptive filter (AF) predicts the input signal and pre-charges the AC-coupling capacitors. The impedance booster module increases the AFE input impedance by a factor of 39 × with a 7.1% increase in area. The proposed system obviates the need for on-chip digital demodulation, filtering, and remodulation normally required to extract Electrode Offset Voltages (EOV) from multiplexed neural signals, thereby achieving 3.6 × and 2.8 × savings in both area and power, respectively, in the EOV filter module. The Sign-Sign LMS AF is reused to determine the system loop gain, which relaxes the feedback DAC accuracy requirements and saves 10.1 × in power compared to conventional oversampled DAC truncation-error ΔΣ-modulator. The proposed SoC is designed and fabricated in 65 nm CMOS, and each channel occupies 0.00179 mm2 of active area. Each channel consumes 5.11 μW of power while achieving 2.19 μVrms and 2.4 μVrms of input referred noise (IRN) over AP and LFP bands. The resulting AP band noise efficiency factor (NEF) is 1.8. The proposed system is verified with acute in-vivo recordings in a Sprague-Dawley rat using parylene C based thin-film platinum nanorod microelectrodes.

Supporting VoIP communication in IEEE 802.11ax networks: A new admission control and scheduling resource allocation scheme

The current IEEE 802.11ax standard enhances Wi-Fi networks with a series of new features, such as multi-user (MU) transmission, an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) scheme and the ability to multiplex traffic from different access categories (ACs). These features can be utilized to enhance the QoS support for VoIP traffic and optimize the usage of IEEE 802.11ax network resources. This work proposes a new scheme to multiplex VoIP calls in IEEE 802.11ax MU frames and a new scheduler and resource allocation algorithm specifically designed for VoIP data traffic. Our scheduler allocates VoIP packets requiring longer transmission times into the same frame(s), minimizing the channel air-time assigned to VoIP transmission. In addition, unused radio resources in the MU frame are leveraged to transmit best-effort packets along with VoIP packets. For completeness, we also define a call admission control (CAC) algorithm that anticipates channel saturation conditions to ensure VoIP users can maintain a guaranteed level of QoS. Based on simulation results, our scheme is more efficient in reducing channel utilization than other schedulers such as multi-user round-robin (RR) (implemented by ns-3) or single-user FIFO. For example, for 30 VoIP stations using the G.711 codec under mixed channel conditions, our scheme reduces by 30% the air-time required to transmit VoIP packets. When coupled with the ability to also send best-effort packets along with VoIP packets, this translates into a higher throughput (i.e. 10 Mbit/s vs 4 Mbit/s) and more simultaneous VoIP users with guaranteed QoS (up to 46 VoIP users vs 26 and 28 users for the multi-user RR and single-user FIFO scheduling algorithms, respectively).

Progressive Pattern Interleaver with Multi-Carrier Modulation Schemes and Iterative Multi-User Detection in IoT 6G Environments with Multipath Channels.

Sixth-generation (6G) wireless networks demand a more efficient implementation of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) schemes for severe multipath fading environments to serve multiple users. Using non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) schemes in IoT 6G networks is a promising solution to allow multiple users to share the same spectral and temporal resource, increasing spectral efficiency and improving the network's capacity. In this work, we have evaluated the performance of a novel progressive pattern interleaver (PPI) employed to distinguish the users in interleaved division multiple access (IDMA) schemes, suggested by 3GPP guidelines as a NOMA scheme, with two multi-carrier modulation schemes known as single-carrier frequency-division multiple access (SC-FDMA) and orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM), resulting in SC-FDMA-IDMA and OFDM-IDMA schemes. Both schemes are multi-carrier schemes with orthogonal sub-carriers to deal against inter-symbol interference (ISI) and orthogonal interleavers for the simultaneous access of multiple users. It has been suggested through simulation outcomes that PPI performance is adequate with SC-FDMA-IDMA and OFDM-IDMA schemes in terms of bit error rate (BER) under multipath channel conditions. Moreover, regarding bandwidth requirement and the implementation complexity of the transmitted interleaver structure, PPI is superior to the conventional random interleaver (RI).

Medium access control protocol based on time division multiple access scheme for wireless body area network

In recent years, the demand for wireless body area network (WBAN) technology has increased, driven by advancements in medical and healthcare applications. WBAN consists of small, low-power, and heterogeneous sensor devices attached inside or outside the body for continuous health monitoring. Medium access control (MAC) is pivotal in addressing WBAN challenges by ensuring reliability and energy efficiency under a dynamic environment caused by body movement. Therefore, to tackle these challenges, this paper presents a MAC protocol based on time division multiple access (TDMA) to enhance the WBAN performance. The proposed TDMA-MAC protocol employs a one-periodic scheduled-based access method to provide reliable data transmission while satisfying the WBAN requirements. The proposed protocol is compared to the IEEE 802.15.6 MAC, enhanced packet scheduling algorithm MAC (EPSA-MAC), and concurrent MAC (C-MAC) protocols based on the performance metrics of packet delivery ratio (PDR), network throughput, energy consumption, and average delay. The simulation results show that the TDMA-MAC protocol outperforms its competitors as it could achieve up to 98% PDR, 30% enhanced throughput, 30% energy optimization, and 20% improvement in average delay.

A State-Interactive MAC Layer TDMA Protocol Based on Smart Antennas

Mobile ad hoc networks are self-organizing networks that do not rely on fixed infrastructure. Smart antennas employ advanced beamforming technology, enabling ultra-long-range directional transmission in wireless networks, which leads to lower power consumption and better utilization of spatial resources. The media access control (MAC) protocol design using smart antennas can lead to efficient usage of channel resources. However, during ultra-long-distance transmissions, there may be significant transport delays. In addition, when using the time division multiple access (TDMA) schemes, it can be difficult to manage conflicts arising from adjacent time slot advancement caused by latency compensation in ultra-long-range propagation. Directional transmission and reception can also cause interference between links that reuse the same time slot. This paper proposes a new distributed dynamic TDMA protocol called State Interaction-based Slot Allocation Protocol (SISAP) to address these issues. This protocol is based on slot states and includes TDMA frame structure, slot allocation process, interference self-avoidance strategy, and slot allocation algorithms. According to the simulation results, the MAC layer design scheme suggested in this paper can achieve ultra-long-distance transmission without conflicts. Additionally, it can reduce the interference between links while space multiplexing. Furthermore, the system exhibits remarkable performance in various network aspects, such as throughput and link delay.

Lamb waves-based PCF-DMA: An anti-interference synchronous independent data transmission scheme for multiple cross-space users

Due to the high cost and safety risk brought about by wire penetration within the aerospace and underwater structure, reliable wireless cross-space multiple access transmission techniques become highly necessary. Lamb waves data transmission is recognized as a feasible solution, since it utilizes the solid structures as the transmission medium without being affected by electromagnetic radiation. However, in the case of synchronous transmission of multiple users, the aggravation of inter-access interference would severely weaken the reliability of the transmission system. Focusing on the issue of anti-interference synchronous independent data transmission for multiple cross-space users, this study proposes a Lamb waves-based pulse code frequency division multiple access (PCF-DMA) scheme. Firstly, a fast pulse position modulation strategy is established to improve the transmission rate. Considering the characteristics of the Lamb waves excitation pulses as the codeword, a PCF-DMA multiple access encoding method is designed. Secondly, by sparsely representing the Lamb waves physical transmission channel, a shift-invariant sparse deconvolution technology is proposed for decoding. Specially, to achieve reliable multiple access transmission with the PCF-DMA scheme, a normalized cross-correlation coefficient is used as the design criterion of the Lamb wave pulses. To validate these concepts, a three-user PCF-DMA data transmission system based on Lamb waves is built. The experimental results illustrate that the proposed design criterion can accurately predict the reliability of the multiple access transmission system. The bit error rate (BER) of the proposed PCF-DMA scheme is 30 % lower than that of conventional FDMA within a signal-to-noise ratio of −12 to 8 dB. Further, the influence factor analysis for the BER and communication rate are conducted. Finally, a synchronous independent data transmission for multiple cross-space users is achieved, with a maximum communication rate of 92.9 kbps per user and a BER below 0.17 %.

Energy optimization for full-duplex wireless-powered IoT networks using rotary-wing UAV with multiple antennas

In this paper, we propose a novel design for the rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-enabled full-duplex (FD) wireless-powered Internet of Things (IoT) networks. In this network, the UAV is equipped with an antenna array, and the K IoT sensors, which are distributed randomly, use single-antenna to communicate. By sending the energy, the UAV as a hybrid access point, charges the sensors and collects information from them. Then, to manage the time and optimize the energy, the sensors are divided into N groups, so that the UAV equipped with multi-input multi-output (MIMO) technology can serve the sensors in a group, during the total time T. We provide a simple implementation of the wireless power transfer protocol in the sensors by using the time division multiple access (TDMA) scheme to receive information from the users. In other words, the sensors of each group receive energy from the UAV, when it hovers over the sensors of the previous group, and also when the UAV flies over the previous group to the current group. The sensors of each group send their information to the UAV, when the UAV is hovering over their group. Under these assumptions, we formulate two optimization problems: a sum throughput maximization problem, and a total time minimization problem. Numerical results show that our proposed optimal network provides better performance than the existing networks. In fact, our novel design can serve more sensors at the cost of using more antennas compared to that of the conventional networks.

An Energy-Efficient Multimode Transmission Scheme for Underwater Sensor Network

Underwater sensor network plays a critical role in the ocean data collection owing to its capability of providing reliable and wide communication coverage. How to assure lifetime performance of the network with limited energy supply has always been a key research issue. In this paper, we propose an underwater acoustic sensor network model which supports data delivery from each underwater sensor node (USN) to sea surface sink node (SN) in either direct or relay-assisted transmission mode, i.e., transmission mode between each USN and the SN can be dynamically selected according to network’s current state. To optimize its lifetime performance, we model the mode selection and resource allocation issue jointly into a non-convex and mixed integer programming problem. In order to efficiently solve it, we further divide the original problem into two subproblems: resource allocation subproblem and joint mode and relay selection subproblem. We prove that the reformulated non-convex resource allocation problem can be equivalent to a convex optimization problem, and its optimal solution can be found by using Lagrange dual decomposition method. For the second subproblem, some critical conditions are analyzed to determine optimal relays with the criterion of balancing energy consumption between USNs and a matching approach is designed to obtain the mode and relay selection results based on USNs’ priorities. Simulation results validate that the proposed transmission scheme is effective and superior to the traditional time division multiple access scheme.

Harmonic-Based MIMO Transceiver With Time-Modulated Arrays

A simple harmonic-based multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transceiver based on the time-modulated array (TMA) is proposed and verified, including detailed performance analysis, comparisons with state-of-the-art works and experiment verification. The essential concept is utilizing the time modulation technique to linearly map the actual multipath channels between multiple users and the antenna elements of the TMA to the equivalent virtual channels between users and harmonics with different frequencies. Models of the received and transmitted signals in both uplink and downlink transmissions based on the multi-user single-input multiple-output (SIMO) and multiple-input single-output (MISO) scenario are analyzed and derived, followed by the proposed harmonic channel estimation, detection and beamforming methods. Simulations on the performance of the proposed harmonic-based MIMO transceiver are provided and compared to the also TMA-based space division multiple access (SDMA) scheme, showing that the latter is more like a special case of the proposed scheme. An experimental 2-user wireless communication prototype based on a 4-element TMA is fabricated and tested to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of uplink signal transmission.

Performance Analysis of Coordinated Interference Mitigation Approach for Automotive Radar

Millimeter automotive radar has great potential in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to enable safety features such as adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance. However, with widely deployment of millimeter radars on vehicles, the risk of radar mutual interference becomes a major factor limiting the high performance of radar detection. In this paper, we analyze the mutual interference among multiple Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radars. On one hand, we study the interference in detail by considering co-channel interference and adjacent channel interference simultaneously. Besides, the co-channel interference is analyzed by employing stochastic geometry model while the adjacent channel interference is assessed by the deterministic analysis method. On the other hand, we propose a Time-Frequency Division Multiple Access (TFDMA) scheme to mitigate the interference in a coordinated manner and evaluate it in terms of mitigation delay, the probability of interference, effective detectable density, maximum number of interference-free radar, and control signaling overhead. Finally, we study the power allocation strategy to enable the effectiveness of the coordinated interference mitigation approach based on the interference analysis. Simulation results verify the proposed framework for interference analysis by employing Monte Carlo method, and the performance improvement of the coordinated interference mitigation approach is 3.5 dB.

Wheel-Based MDM-PON System Incorporating OCDMA for Secure Network Resiliency

Wheel-based network resilience passive optical network (PON) based on mode division multiplexing (MDM) can be integrated with optical code division multiple access (OCDMA) schemes efficiently for the fixed and backhaul traffic under normal and break/failure fiber operating conditions. In this work, a bidirectional 10/2.5 Gbit/s hybrid MDM-OCDMA-PON system using multi-weight zero cross-correlation (MWZCC) code is proposed. Donut modes 0 and 1 are incorporated by the MDM technique in the proposed system. The benefit of this work is to offer an inexpensive, high-bandwidth and advanced long-haul network with satisfactory resource utilization ability for fiber links with protection against faults and to improve the reliability along with survivability of the network. The simulation results show the successful realization of the multimode fiber (MMF) link at 1.6 km in the uplink and 1.2 km in the downlink directions under an acceptable bit error rate (BER). The minimum accepted received power of −31 dBm in uplink and −27 dBm in downlink over 1 km link at 10/2.5 Gbit/s rate is obtained. Moreover, the minimum received power of −20 dBm in uplink and −30 dBm downlink is achieved by using MWZCC code compared to other codes handling 58 simultaneous end users. Further, the influence of fiber impairments and connected devices on the proposed approach is numerically evaluated. Moreover, it is shown that the wheel based proposed approach performs well than other topologies for the bidirectional network resilience transmission.

Second-Order Statistics for IRS-Assisted Multiuser Vehicular Network With Co-Channel Interference

In this paper, we consider a downlink multi-user vehicular communication network empowered by an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) with the base station (BS) employing the orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) scheme. The performance of the considered system is evaluated in terms of second-order statistics (SOS) in the presence of multiple co-channel interferers with varying powers and speeds. In particular, we develop the analytical expressions of level crossing rate (LCR) and average outage duration (AOD) of the received signal envelope at a desired vehicle by considering a generalized fading model as - distribution. The impact of various system and channel parameters such as number of reflecting elements, amplitude of reflection coefficients, number of interferers, Doppler frequencies of desired and interfering vehicles, and different channel fading environments has been shown on the LCR and AOD performances. Moreover, we derive an expression for asymptotic LCR under high transmit power conditions. It has been shown that the asymptotic LCR is independent of the threshold and transmit power. In addition, we consider a stop and wait automatic repeat request (SW-ARQ) protocol for reliable data packet transmission and derive the expressions for packet error rate (PER) and throughput by utilizing the finite-state Markov channel (FSMC) model. The optimal packet length is also determined which maximizes the throughput under SW-ARQ protocol. The impact of various system parameters is also shown on the PER and throughput performances.

IRS-Aided Wireless Powered MEC Systems: TDMA or NOMA for Computation Offloading?

Anintelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-aided wireless-powered mobile edge computing (WP-MEC) system is conceived, where each device’s computational task can be divided into two parts for local computing and offloading to mobile edge computing (MEC) servers, respectively. Both time division multiple access (TDMA) and non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) schemes are considered for uplink (UL) offloading. To fully unleash the potential benefits of the IRS, employing multiple IRS beamforming (BF) patterns/vectors in the considered operating frame to create time-selectivity channels, i.e., dynamic IRS BF (DIBF), is in principle possible at the cost of additional signaling overhead. To strike a balance between the system performance and associated signalling overhead, we propose three cases of DIBF configurations based on the maximum number of IRS reconfiguration times. The degree-of-freedom provided by the IRS may introduce different impacts on the TDMA and NOMA-based UL offloading schemes. Thus, it is still fundamentally unknown which multiple access scheme is superior for MEC UL offloading by considering the impact of the IRS. To answer this question, we provide a comprehensively theoretical performance comparison for the TDMA and NOMA-based offloading schemes under the three cases of DIBF configurations by characterizing their achievable computation rate. Analytical results demonstrate that offloading adopting TDMA can achieve the same computation rate as that of NOMA, when all the devices share the same IRS BF vector during the UL offloading. By contrast, computation offloading exploiting TDMA outperforms NOMA, when the IRS BF vector can be flexibly adapted for UL offloading. Then, we propose computationally efficient algorithms by invoking alternating optimization for solving their associated computation rate maximization problems. Our numerical results demonstrate the significant performance gains achieved by the proposed designs over various benchmark schemes and also unveil that the optimal time allocated to downlink wireless power transfer can be effectively reduced with the aid of IRSs, which is beneficial for both the system’s spectral efficiency and its energy efficiency.

Secrecy Analysis of Uplink IM-OFDMA Systems in the Presence of IQ Imbalance

This paper introduces the secrecy analysis of the index modulation-based orthogonal frequency division multiple access (IM-OFDMA) schemes by considering the in-phase and quadrature imbalance (IQI) presence at the users' RF front ends. In particular, by assuming the existence of an eavesdropper, the secrecy performance of the considered uplink multiple-access system is investigated through the strictly positive secrecy capacity and secrecy outage probability, and closed-form expressions are derived for both quantities. Moreover, the secrecy performance is conducted regarding IQI compensation based on a preamble-based estimation method. Further, analysis of the impact of the different parameters of IM-OFDMA, IQI, and estimation method is included via analytical and simulation-based results. The results reveal that IM-OFDMA is more reliable in secrecy performance than OFDMA, regardless of whether IQI is present. Also, IQI compensation can lead to a better secrecy performance compared to the case of no IQI.

Hybrid Precoding and Combining Based on Rate Balancing for Wideband mmWave Multiuser MIMO Systems

Considering wideband millimeter wave (mmWave) multiuser multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems, we propose a new hybrid precoding and combining method for rate balancing among users. The orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) scheme is employed for multiuser transmission, and a greedy-based algorithm is developed for subband allocation under the max-min user rate criterion. A new algorithm is derived that optimizes the radio frequency (RF) precoder and combiners under the constant-modulus constraints as well as the baseband precoders and combiners under the rate balancing power allocation criterion. The proposed algorithm iteratively updates the RF precoder and combiners using the conjugate gradient method, and baseband precoders and combiners through the singular value decomposition and numerical gradient-based power allocation among users and subcarriers. The complexity of the proposed method is compared to existing wideband hybrid processing schemes through analysis and numerical runtime measurement. The convergence of the proposed algorithm is verified via numerical simulations in mmWave MIMO-OFDMA systems. It is also shown through numerical simulations that the proposed wideband hybrid processing method outperforms the existing wideband hybrid techniques in terms of the minimum user rate, regardless of the signal-to-noise ratio, the number of antennas, and the number of users. Moreover, simulation results present that the proposed scheme is more advantageous than the conventional hybrid processing methods under channel uncertainty.

Hybrid NOMA/OFDMA visible light communication system with coordinated multiple point transmission.

In this study, a hybrid non-orthogonal multiple access / orthogonal frequency division multiple access (NOMA/OFDMA) scheme is proposed for multi-cell multi-user visible light communication (VLC) systems. Each cell is divided into several sub-cells that are multiplexed using OFDMA. Users within the same sub-cell are multiplexed by NOMA. Thus, the hybrid NOMA/OFDMA scheme takes advantage of both NOMA and OFDMA, which not only improves the spectral efficiency of OFDMA but also avoids the co-channel interference of NOMA. Moreover, coordinated multiple-point transmission based on repeated coding is introduced to eliminate multiuser interference, which also improves the received signal-to-noise ratio of edge users. In this manner, spectrum resources are fully utilized, where the frequency reuse factor is equal to 1. Furthermore, we propose a two-dimensional power-allocation algorithm for the proposed hybrid NOMA/OFDMA VLC system. Based on the fixed power allocation strategy, power is allocated jointly among sub-cells and users within sub-cells to minimize the average symbol error rate (SER). The performance of the proposed system was investigated in detail by simulation, where the SERs were evaluated under different power ratios. Simulation results also show that the SER performance of the proposed hybrid NOMA/OFDMA VLC system is significantly improved compared to the traditional NOMA and OFDMA VLC systems in different VLC networks. Finally, the proof-of-concept experiment was set up, clearly validating the superiority of the proposed system further.

An improved optimal energy aware data availability approach for secure clustering and routing in wireless sensor networks

AbstractMaintaining high residual energy is one of the major challenges of wireless sensor networks (WSNs), where nodes are moving at a random speed. In addition, data availability is also a major concern that must be maintained constantly during the packet transmission phase. In this research work, a Residual‐Energy‐Based Data Availability Approach (REDAA) for WSNs is developed to increase the network lifetime by focusing on the selection of stable routing paths and cluster heads. During the first phase of the work, the network model, and assumptions for route creations are adopted to effectively initialize the data transmission phase. During the second phase, a cluster was formed, and two categories of cluster heads were created based on quadrature low energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (Q‐LEACH) and multi‐hop low energy adaptive clustering (MH‐LEACH) algorithms to formalize the route and to make data available whenever requested. During the third phase, energy conservation routes are initialized, and data gathering is improved through slot‐based code division multiple access schemes. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed REDAA approach can achieve an improvement in terms of throughput and energy consumption by 37% and 70% respectively when compared to MH‐LEACH approach, whereas in comparison to Q‐LEACH approach, these improvements are found to be 30% and 73% respectively.
