На основе проведенного исследования доказана роль цифровизации как ключевого драйвера, позволяющего предприятию стать более конкурентоспособным как на национальном, так и на международном рынках, а также выпускать действительно качественную, уникальную, высокотехнологичную продукцию, снижая при этом ее себестоимость. The article is about the concept of digital transformation and digital technologies, substantiates their role and impact on the work of this industrial sector. On the basis of the study, the role of a digital installation as a key driver has been proven, allowing an enterprise to become more competitive both on the national and international markets, as well as to produce really high-quality, unique, high-tech products that reduce their cost at the same time.

Developing a BIM-enabled building lifecycle management system for owners: Architecture and case scenario

Given the fragmented nature of the architecture, engineering, construction, and operation (AECO) industry, building lifecycle management (BLM) involves bringing together multidisciplinary teams and integrating lifecycle processes of buildings. Despite the increasing use of information technologies and software tools by property owners, several barriers in BLM implementations remain, such as information silos, low data interoperability, poor cross-party coordination, and the mismatch of existing commercial solutions and user requirements. To deal with these practical challenges, this study develops a BIM-enabled BLM system for property owners using a semi-custom approach. For this, a three-tier architecture of the BIM-enabled BLM system is designed. Next, the system is developed based on a real-life project in the Grid State of China. This case scenario verifies the system and further confirmed the proposed three-tier architecture. The developed architecture and system have theoretical and practical implications for property owners' BLM implementations. This proposed semi-custom approach provides guidelines for AECO industry digital transformation.

A study on approaches to the interpretation of concepts of industrial complex and integrated structure of industry

Subject. The article investigates the essence and salient features within the study of the industrial complex and integrated industrial structure categories. Objectives. The purpose is to research and develop definitions, study approaches to the industrial complex category, and underpin my unique interpretation. Methods. The study applies methods of analysis and synthesis, the systematization, formalization, and comparative analysis approach. Theoretical and methodological provisions contained in the works on industry development by domestic and foreign scientists, and legal documents, serve as the basis of the study. Results. I offer my interpretation of an industrial complex, as a challenging structure, represented by industrial enterprises and characterized by the stability of production cooperation chains, close interrelation of industry and regional specialization, providing for the digital transformation of industry, and subject to the environmental component. The paper identifies key properties of industrial complex, offers a classification by industry specifics, localization, diversification, and the level of State participation. Conclusions. The findings may be used as an element of theoretical basis to support management decisions on industrial complex development.

Actual issues of digitalization in the industrial sector of the economy of Uzbekistan

The article is devoted to disclosing the essence of digital transformation of industry, which, according to the author, is the key to building a knowledge of economy and obtaining measurable economic results through the introduction of end-to-end technologies. The digitalization process of industry plays an important role in the technological development of regional spatial and sectoral structures, therefore, the production of high-tech products by industry based on innovative digital technologies is of key importance for the development of the country's economy. The author conducted a systematic analysis of the problems of digitalization of the industrial sector of the national economy of Uzbekistan. The article proves the effectiveness of digitalization on the example of successfully functioning companies. It is substantiated that the digital transformation of production should be aimed at increasing the efficiency, productivity and competitiveness of the domestic industry in the world market. The study concludes that it is necessary to actively implement digital economy tools in the industrial sector. The resultsof research can be used to develop digitalization processes in the industrial sector of the economy of Uzbekistan and to increase their focus on the growth of competitive advantages and technological progress of regional spatial and sectoral structures in the conditions of digital economy. Digitalization and environment: how does ICT affect enterprise environmental performance?

Despite the increasing use of digital technology in industrial production, how industrial digitalization affects the environmental performance of production activities remains unclear. This research contributes to the literature on the relationship between industrial digitalization and enterprise environmental performance by employing a large sample of Chinese manufacturing enterprises. Results indicate that the environmental performance of manufacturing enterprises has been significantly improved in the process of industrial digital transformation. Structural and technology effects are the transmission channels; additionally, structural effect is the main contributor to the positive environmental effects of information and communications technology (ICT) penetration. Industrial digitalization reduces the production scale of heavy-polluting enterprises and improves product innovation and green total factor productivity, but it has an insignificant effect on total factor productivity. Moreover, industrial digitalization improves enterprise environmental performance by introducing front-end cleaner production technologies, rather than by increasing pipe-end pollutant treatment facilities.

Digital Transformation of Industrial Organizations: Toward an Integrated Framework

ABSTRACT Industrial organizations are responding to new risks and opportunities originating from exponentially growing and disruptive digital technologies, by taking company-wide digital transformation initiatives. However, the key enablers of such digital transformation initiatives that facilitate operational performance outcomes in industrial organizations demand further investigation. Therefore, drawing on the sociotechnical system theory (STS), the objective of this study is to explore the digital transformation enablers and their impact on performance outcomes. Research data was collected from four leading industrial organizations that engaged in digital transformation programmes. Our results indicate that leadership, structures, and culture are the key enablers of digital transformation that help industrial organizations to achieve performance outcomes (i.e. collaboration, customer-centricity, and agility). By providing an empirically grounded integrated framework with future research propositions, this study contributes to the existing literature on digital transformation and sociotechnical system theory. MAD statement This article aims to make a difference by exploring industrial digital transformation in order to identify the key enablers and performance outcomes. We highlight the need for alignment and joint optimization of social and technical systems to effectively capitalize on the digital transformation initiatives. Moreover, we call for urgent attention to the development of leaders, as well as the further identification of supportive digital transformation leadership competencies. Competent leaders assume a central role in correcting outdated and invalid assumptions, conceptualizing new ideas, and reinforcing cultural values. Furthermore, we elaborate the necessity of cultural transformation in industrial organizations for impactful digital transformation. Lastly, our findings confirm the significance of organizational structure in digital transformation and simultaneously warn that too little is happening.

Industrial digital transformation strategies based on differential games

This article focuses on the transformation and development of traditional industries in the context of digital economy. The Hamilton-Jacobi-Berman equation is used to investigate the coordination mechanism and optimal strategy of industrial integration from a quantitative perspective and examine the dynamic decision-making processes among traditional enterprises, digital technology providers, and local governments by constructing a tripartite dynamic differential game model, and the degree of optimal effort, the optimal benefits, the level of industrial digitalization and the proportion of local government subsidies to enterprises are obtained in three cases: a Nash non-cooperative game, a Stackelberg game and a cooperative game. The results show that (1) the government subsidy coefficient, as an effective adjustment mechanism, can significantly improve the degree of optimal effort of traditional enterprises and digital technology providers, (2) the tripartite optimal strategy, optimal benefits, total system benefits and level of industrial digitization in the case of the cooperative game are strictly superior to those in non-cooperative situations, achieving the Pareto optimum of the system, (3) the results of the theoretical derivation are verified through the analysis of numerical simulation and case study. The study provides a theoretical basis and practical support for the digital transformation of traditional industries.

Algorithm for testing digital substation protection devices in conditions of network distortions in the process bus

The article deals with the digital substation equipment maintenance. Equipping the electrical substations secondary circuits with intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) is an important direction in the electric power industry digital transformation. The purpose of the work is to develop an algorithm for testing digital substation protection devices for the influence of network distortions in the process bus. The tasks are to identify the main distortion types, determine the maintenance content and test it. The need to expand the existing service is determined, the maintenance algorithm is developed and a pilot test of the network distortions effect on the IED protection functions is performed.

The article analyzes the practical aspects of the functioning of some barriers to entry in the era of digital transformation of industry markets. It is noted that under the influence of digitalization processes, both positive changes in the mechanism of market operation are recorded, as well as a number of negative circumstances that have become a serious challenge for antitrust agencies. Control of big data, initial investment in digital infrastructure, and broad technological capabilities of digital blocking of users, against the background of powerful network effects and pronounced economies of scale, carry the potential for significant growth in the market power of individual firms. The article substantiates that such trends theoretically pose a significant threat to competition, and can form new types of entry barriers. At the same time, practical arguments are presented that indicate the ambiguity of this position.

IoT-based Dairy Supply Chain - An Ontological Approach

Emerging digital transformation in industry is noticeable among others in Supply Chain Management (SCM). For instance, applying new-generation digitalized technologies in the Dairy Supply Chain (DSC) enables an increase of manufacturing productivity, improves planning and forecasting, and also enhances competitive capabilities according to Industry 4.0 assumptions. It is worth mentioning, that in modern DSC, high visibility of raw materials, components, products, and processes by all contributors on all stages of DSC is crucial. This article focuses on the transparency aspect of the DSC supported by IoT-based technologies enabling interoperability among all DSC participants. The paper addresses the problem of effective integration of heterogeneous data sources, i.e., deployed new technological IoT solutions with traditional SCM systems and a third-party software component. The main objective of this report is to propose the IoT-based DSC model comprising four chain stages: milk production, milk transportation, milk processing, and dairy products distribution. Moreover, the comprehensive DSC domain ontology as a knowledge model is formulated and described. The ontology aims on improvement of the DSC management efficiency by facilitating interoperability within DSC. The applicability of the proposed ontological model is verified using a sustainable-oriented case study, which estimates the environmental footprint at the milk transportation stage of the DSC.

AbstractThis chapter traces the rise of the digital economy and digital platforms, focusing on digital labour platforms in particular. It assesses the impact of such platforms on different economic sectors and labour markets, highlighting the distinctive aspects of digital labour platforms that are transforming the world of work. It gives some estimates of the number of platform companies and the number of workers whose work is mediated through these platforms based on the available literature. It also discusses the roles of data and finance in the rapid rise of these platforms, and the challenges the platforms pose to both businesses and workers.

Mixed Reality Supported Learning for Industrial on-the-job Training

The digital transformation of industry – the so-called fourth industrial revolution – leads to changing work systems in industry and to new demands on industry workers. New job profiles emerge, existing profiles are changing, and new skills are needed. Thus, continuous and personalized learning on-the-job – directly integrated into the relevant working context – is imperative for 21st century industry workers. New technologies such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) could be an option for supporting hands-on learning for practical industrial training, directly on the real or virtual machine or factory. These Mixed Reality (MR) technologies are expected to meet the demands for situated and contextual learning according to respective constructivist learning theories. This paper presents two use cases for MR supported learning for industrial on-the-job training in a German manufacturing company focusing on two main research questions: (1) To what extent are MR technologies suitable for implementing key didactic aspects of situated and contextual learning (situational context, active participation, self-control, collective and experiential learning)? (2) What are key characteristics (e.g. type of task, user characteristics, interaction, information and technology-related aspects) for selecting the appropriate technical solution (AR vs. VR) for industrial training? The comparative use case analysis provides some valuable indications for overcoming the limitations of pure physical learning factories and for leveraging their potential for industrial on-the-job training through the targeted use of MR technologies.

Relevance. Industrial digital transformation refers to a set of innovative solutions for the transition to new business models. But this type of transformation is not limited to the technologies used; it represents a culture of change integrated into all areas, therefore, more and more attention is paid to the study of digital transformation and the formation of digital potential in industry. Russian and foreign organizations, as well as scientists, have developed many indices to assess the level of digitalization, both for the country as a whole and for individual industries. Within the framework of this process, the digital transformation of industry is of particular importance, since it determines the key technologies of digitalization, an important role in this process is played by the digital potential of the enterprise, which determines the possibility of introducing innovative technologies. The purpose of the study is to analyze Russian and foreign approaches to assessing the digitalization of industries based on systems of target indicators and assessment indicators. Objectives: analyze the approaches to assessing the digital potential of industrial enterprises used by foreign countries, and also identified the constraining factors of digitalization of the industrial sector of the Russian Federation, which made it possible to formulate proposals for the effective formation of digital potential in industry. Methodology. The research was based on the methods of theoretical comparison and generalization of various views on the formation of approaches to assessing the digitalization of industry; logical-historical methods for the analysis of basic theoretical concepts, as well as methods of analysis and synthesis. Results. The study summarizes various systems of indicators for assessing the digitalization of industry. The analysis of approaches to assessing the digitalization of industries based on systems of target indicators and assessment indicators is carried out. Indicators for assessing the level of digital transformation of industry are analyzed, based on the example of comparing the achieved level by key world indices, among the USA, China and Russia, as well as some EU member states. Conclusions. In conclusion, it was concluded that many countries and international organizations are actively developing comprehensive methods for assessing the readiness for digital transformation of both the economies of individual states and its industries, including industry. It considers how different countries form their systems of assessments and indicators of digital transformation, identifies the main areas of assessment, as well as the possible results of the introduction of digital technologies. The analysis of the digital potential of the industry in the international context was carried out on the basis of key indices.

Proactive Management Transportation Logistics Infrastructure Life-Cycle (Digital Transformation)

The paper considers an innovative approach to life-cycle management of transportation-logistical infrastructure, basing on proactive management concept. It recommends new processes, providing for sustainability and adaptation of complex organisational-technical objects in digital transformation of Industry 4.0. Highly-effective infrastructure is based on coordinated interaction of enterprises at different stages of the life-cycle «design – operation – monitoring and correction».

Piloting Industry 4.0 in SMEs with RAMI 4.0: an enterprise architecture approach

Reference Architectural Model Industrie 4.0 (RAMI 4.0) is an influential guide to the ongoing digital transformation in industry. However, the adoption of RAMI 4.0 in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) is still emerging. This paper describes how to deploy pilot projects in the era of Industry 4.0 following an enterprise architecture (EA) approach. The field intervention presents the design of an app for manufacturing that adheres to RAMI 4.0 in the context of SMEs. ArchiMate language is used to model the Industry 4.0 vision in the case company and identify specific requirements for technology developments. Our work presents (1) EA models for the six main RAMI 4.0 layers: business, functional, information, communication, integration, and asset, and (2) the instantiation of a pilot project adopting mobile technologies in manufacturing and quick response (QR) code identification for product traceability. For theory, our study confirms recent research suggesting the suitability of ArchiMate to help in Industry 4.0 initiatives, providing examples of layered models for RAMI 4.0. For practice, the study can be helpful to increase the adoption of RAMI 4.0 in SMEs and exemplify how to deploy specific industry developments starting with a high-level description of the Industry 4.0 architecture. Enterprise architecture approaches to Industry 4.0 can assist companies in their long-term investment plans and ensure technology integration and strategic alignment of Industry 4.0 projects.

Dissecting the Impact of Information and Communication Technologies on Digital Twins as a Service

Recent advances on Edge computing, Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and 5G are stimulating the interest of the industrial sector to satisfy the stringent and real-time requirements of their applications. Digital Twin is a key piece in the industrial digital transformation and its benefits are very well studied in the literature. However, designing and implementing a Digital Twin system that integrates all the emerging technologies and meets the connectivity requirements (e.g., latency, reliability) is an ambitious task. Therefore, prototyping the system is required to gradually validate and optimize Digital Twin solutions. In this work, an Edge Robotics Digital Twin system is implemented as a prototype that embodies the concept of Digital Twin as a Service (DTaaS). Such system enables real-time applications such as visualization and remote control, requiring low-latency and high reliability. The capability of the system to offer potential savings by means of computation offloading are analyzed in different deployment configurations. Moreover, the impact of different wireless channels (e.g., 5G, 4G and WiFi) to support the data exchange between a physical device and its virtual components are assessed within operational Digital Twins. Results show that potentially 16% of CPU and 34% of MEM savings can be achieved by virtualizing and offloading software components in the Edge. In addition, they show that 5G connectivity enables remote control of 20 ms, appearing as the most promising radio access technology to support the main requirements of Digital Twin systems.

System of automatic analysis of methods for recognizing the emotional state of a person

The introduction of methods and means of digital transformation of industry and the social sphere poses new challenges. One of these tasks is the management of active systems, in which simple registration and identification of the initiators of actions is not enough, but a deeper assessment of their state, including psychophysical and emotional, is required. The article is devoted to the analysis of methods and means of recognizing the emotional state of a person. Approaches to automated recognition of a person's emotional state based on primary, secondary and more complex features are analyzed. The main focus is on a comprehensive approach to recognition of a person's emotional state based on the analysis of visual and audio channels using neural networks and computer psyche algorithms. The target of the article is a formalization of methods and development of means to recognize a person's emotional state according to complex audiovisual criteria. Analyzed software for recognizing the emotional state of a person: FaceReaderNoldus, EmoDetect, FaceSecurity, Microsoft Oxford Project Emotion Recognition, eMotion Software, MMER_FEASy. Methods used to recognize the emotional state of a person by his face have been investigated, such as: the method of basic components, the Viola-Jones method, template comparison, the Hopfield neural network, the method based on the localization of key points on the face and the method based on texture information. Separately analyzed methods of recognizing the emotional state of a person from his speech. invention proposes a solution for multilevel recognition of emotional state of a person based on using algorithms of neural networks and computer psyche. Software for recognizing the emotional state of a person was analyzed: the developed approach can be used for various digital applications, ranging from the analysis of the psychophysiological and emotional state of a person - an operator (pilot, driver, etc.), to multimedia mobile applications for analyzing the emotional state of an interlocutor. The trend for remote work and self-employment opens up such areas of application of these applications as consulting psychologists, interviewing online, optimizing the human resources of companies and organizations. Prospects for using the latest versions of emotional analyzers are shown.

The electric power industry digital transformation features and the intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) introduction in the low-voltage circuits of power stations and substations are considered. The analysis of normative documents and standards is carried out. The features of scheduled maintenance of relay protection and automation devices are determined, the possibilities and prospects of organizing condition-based maintenance are considered. The mandatory steps required for any type of maintenance are defined. A method for checking the electrical and time characteristics of the overcurrent protection of an intelligent electronic device is proposed. The device is designed in accordance with the IEC-61850 standard and operates in the local area network of a digital substation of architecture III

Digitization is transforming the industrial landscape. Smarter products, data-based services, and new business models promise to reshape the whole manufacturing industry. However, below the visible excitement, unexpected tensions and challenges make the digital transformation an excruciating journey for industrial companies. In this article, we decipher the digital transformation strategy choices of leading industrial firms in a highly innovative country. We identify four dominant tensions that managers need to sort out to advance in their digital transformation. We introduce a framework to help managers navigate through the choices in their industrial digital transformation strategy.
