Seminar Literasi Digital Sebagai Upaya Peningkatan Kecakapan Teknologi Dalam Membangun Masyarakat Digital di Desa Galihpakuwon Balubur Limbangan

The development of technology has a significant impact on its users, provided that users can harness it effectively and wisely. This development and utilization of technology are closely tied to the use of the internet as a support for this technological use. In Indonesia, many people already use the internet in their daily activities; however, the level of digital literacy in Indonesian society is still at a moderate level. In the effort to realize a digital society, digital literacy has been discussed by various stakeholders and approached, but it has not been optimally implemented. A digital society is an example of a society where interaction patterns are greatly influenced by information technology and communication networks. The purpose of digital literacy activities is to enhance the technological skills of the community toward becoming a digital society. This digital literacy program is carried out through various methods, including literature review, observation, interviews, and problem analysis. Subsequently, a digital literacy seminar program is conducted in the village of Galihpakuwon Balubur Limbangan, which serves as the focal point of this initiative. The seminar content is tailored to the needs of participants in the context of existing issues, with a focus on digital literacy indicators such as Digital Skill, Digital Culture, Digital Ethics, and Digital Safety. The results achieved after this activity include the transformation of a traditional community into a digital community in the village of Galihpakuwon Balubur Limbangan.

Collaboration to Build Resilient Farmers' Human Resources: Digital Literacy Program in Agriculture as a Joint Education Effort

This article aims to examine the importance of the role of government and society in collaborating, especially in improving society's capabilities in the agricultural sector. In this case, development communication has an important role, especially in the form of participatory development communication and community empowerment. However, technological aspects cannot be separated from development communication. Electronic agriculture (e-Agriculture) has become something that farmers need to do to improve the quality of their agriculture. Since the penetration of information and communication technology, the use of this technology has become increasingly massive, especially in searching for information. This encourages the active role of government and society in providing facilities to support the development of human resources for farmers. In this case, digital literacy skills are very important for farmers to have, starting from searching for information, managing information resources, forming digital collaborations, to efforts to increase digital participation. These skills need to be built wisely so that the use of technology in the agricultural realm can be carried out well.

THE GENERATIONAL COMPARISONS OF SOCIAL NETWORK SITE USE SUBTYPES AND ITS ASSOCIATIONS WITH SELF-ESTEEM

Abstract This study aimed to identify subtypes of Social Network Service (SNS) use that affect self-esteem by applying a person-centered approach. The study also aimed to compare the SNS use subtypes and their associations with self-esteem between young and middle-aged adults in Korea. The sample included 2,572 young adults (18-44 years old) and 1,790 middle-aged adults (45-64 years old) drawn from the Korea Media Panel, a nationally representative dataset. Self-esteem was measured by the sum of ten questions from Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem Scale. Four indicators of SNS use (e.g., “How often do you check other people’s posts (feed)?”) were used to perform a 3-step Latent Profile Analysis, which accounts for classification errors. The results of the Latent Profile Analysis showed 5 and 4 subtypes of SNS use for young and middle-aged adults, respectively, depending on the frequency of active and passive usage. Overlapping subtypes include ‘passive-low’, ‘active-low’, ‘moderate’, and ‘high-active’ users. Young adults had one distinct subtype with a very high frequency of passive usage (checking others’ posts and liking them) but a very low frequency of active usage (sharing content with others). The results also revealed that those with more frequent use in both active and passive use showed the lowest self-esteem in both young and middle-aged groups. This study supports previous findings suggesting that frequent SNS use has negative impacts on self-esteem, even for middle-aged adults. Based on these results, digital literacy programs for middle-aged adults should cover healthy ways to use SNS.

Assessing Digital Competence in Higher Education: A Gender Analysis of DigComp 2.1 Framework in Uganda

This research paper investigated the digital competence of students in higher education in Uganda, utilising the Dig-Comp 2.1 framework as the basis for assessment. The study explores potential gender disparities in digital competence levels among students, aiming to identify areas of improvement for educational institutions and policymakers. The research utilised a quantitative approach, incorporating online surveys to collect data (N = 99) from a diverse sample of university students. Descriptive and t-test analyses were performed to analyse the significant differences in digital competencies between genders and found slight but statistically insignificant differences. The study’s findings contribute to the growing body of research on gender and digital competency and underscore the need for ongoing efforts to create inclusive and equitable digital education environments. In today's increasingly digital world, possessing adequate digital competence is crucial for personal, academic, and professional success. Higher education institutions are pivotal in equipping students with the necessary digital skills to thrive in the digital age. To enhance digital competence among all students, educators, policymakers, and institutions must focus on gender-sensitive strategies and tailor digital literacy programs to meet the diverse needs of their student population

Racial Differences in Expanded Telemedicine Use During COVID-19: A Literature Review.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic prompted the widespread adoption of telemedicine to deliver health care services while minimizing in-person contact. However, concerns persist regarding equitable access to telemedicine, especially for vulnerable populations. This study examines the utilization patterns of telemedicine by race in the United States, considering different modalities, medical specialties, and geographic regions. Methods: A comprehensive review of 26 articles published between January 2020 and August 2022 was conducted to analyze racial disparities in telemedicine use during the pandemic. Data from electronic health records and self-reported race were compiled for analysis. Variations based on geography, clinical care types, telemedicine modalities (audio or video), and study design were explored. Results: The findings indicate the presence of racial disparities in telemedicine utilization, with minority groups exhibiting lower usage rates compared with Whites. The location of outpatient clinics and clinical care types did not significantly influence telemedicine use by race. Among studies comparing telemedicine modalities, African Americans were more likely to choose audio/phone visits over video visits. Studies employing a pre-post design were less likely to identify disparities in telemedicine use by race. Conclusions: This study consistently demonstrates increasing racial disparities in telemedicine use. Future research should focus on identifying contributing factors and developing strategies to address these disparities. Policymakers should consider implementing initiatives promoting equitable access to telemedicine, including financial assistance, improved broadband infrastructure, and digital literacy programs. By addressing these barriers, telemedicine can play a crucial role in reducing health care disparities and improving access to care for all Americans.

Local Public Broadcasting Institutions and Digital Literacy in Distance Learning Activities

Purpose: This study aimed to examine digital literacy practice by utilizing the Local Public Broadcasting Institution in Distance Learning activities with a qualitative descriptive approach. Theoretical Framework: Local Public Broadcasting Institutions contribute as a means of digital literacy in Distance Learning online activities (using internet channels) often encounter constraints and obstacles. Local Public Broadcasting Institutions is present as a solution that facilitates digital distance learning literacy through radio channels. Result: The study results show the effectiveness of radio as part of the Local Public Broadcasting Institutions platform in supporting digital literacy in Distance Learning. Conclusion: Local Public Broadcasting Institutions through a digital literacy program based on a broadcast radio platform, is proven to provide solutions in the field of Distance Learning, facilitating digital literacy for the public to develop the ability to use information and communication technology, obtain information, evaluate, create, and communicate the information obtained.

Mediating effect of depressive symptoms on the relationship between digital literacy and cognitive function in older adults

AbstractBackgroundAlthough several studies have examined the individual relationships between digital literacy, cognitive function, and depressive symptoms, few have integrated all three factors into a single model. In this study, we aim to address this gap in the literature by investigating the mediating effect of depressive symptoms on the relationship between digital literacy and cognition. By doing so, we hope to contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of the complex interplay among these variables and their implications for mental health and well‐being.MethodParticipants were 7988 adults, 65 or older, who participated in Living Profiles of Older People Survey (LPOPS) 2020. The main exposure was digital literacy (communication literacy, information literacy, online transactions literacy, media literacy). The main outcome was depressive symptoms measured by Korean version of the 15‐item Geriatric Depression Scale (SGDS‐K), and cognitive function measured by a Mini‐Mental State Examination (MMSE) score. Multiple linear regression analyses and mediation analysis were performed.ResultAfter adjusting for covariates, our analysis found a significant association between digital literacy and both depressive symptoms and cognitive function (β of four types of digital literacy and depressive symptoms = ‐0.73, ‐0.152, ‐0.942, and ‐1.041 respectively, β of four types of digital literacy and cognitive function = 2.102, 2.217, 1.620, and 2.276 respectively). Moreover, our study suggests that depressive symptoms play a mediating role in the relationship between both online transactions and media literacy with cognitive function (95% CI of indirect effects = 0.1051 to 0.1928 and 0.1104 to 0.1864 respectively), implying an indirect pathway (digital literacy → depression → cognitive function).ConclusionThis study sheds light on the relationship between digital literacy, depressive symptoms, and cognitive function in older adults. We found that depressive symptoms mediate the association between specific aspects of digital literacy (online transactions and media literacy) and cognitive function. Our results indicate that community‐based digital literacy programs could be effective interventions for reducing depression and preserving or improving cognitive function in older adults.

Cyberspace: between Character Changes and Digital Literacy Programs in Elementary Schools in the Independent Curriculum

This research aims to describe changes in the character of elementary school-age students due to the influence of cyberspace and digital literacy programs in the independent curriculum in responding to the challenges of cyberspace influence. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study. The data and data sources for this research were obtained from a study of cyberspace and its impact on student character and independent curriculum documents regarding digital literacy programs. This research data was collected from previous research, then critically analyzed and presented in a descriptive narrative. From the results of data analysis, it was found that cyberspace had a positive and negative impact on the character of elementary school-age students. Positive character changes if students have good literacy skills and through guidance from parents and teachers. Meanwhile, elementary school students who do not have good literacy and use cyberspace freely without control have a negative impact on their character. As for digital literacy in the independent curriculum learning outcomes, students are more dominant in having digital skills and are not yet comprehensive in the four pillars of digital literacy (digital skills, digital culture, digital ethics, and digital safety ), so the implementation of digital literacy needs to be carried out comprehensively through guidance, parental and teacher control.

Digital Inequality: Bridging the Divide for LatinX Communities

The digital divide, a pressing global issue, is characterized by unequal access to and use of information and communication technology. This disparity, deeply rooted in socio-economic and geographical factors, has become a defining determinant of social opportunities, well-being, and advancement in the modern era. Marginalized communities, particularly the LatinX population, find themselves at the forefront of this divide, grappling with challenges hindering their digital empowerment. This research comprehensively explores the digital divide’s impact on the LatinX community, considering historical influences, socio-economic disparities, and the recent exacerbation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. By meticulously examining the unique challenges faced by the LatinX community in accessing and effectively utilizing digital resources, this study seeks to shed light on the multi-dimensional nature of the issue. Furthermore, the research proposes actionable strategies to promote digital equality, including infrastructure development and digital literacy programs. This study's overarching objective is to highlight the pressing need to address the technical aspects of the digital divide but also to emphasize the broader implications for educational equity and societal inclusivity. In doing so, it underscores the importance of collective action in building an inclusive, equitable, and digitally empowered future for the LatinX community.

Accessibility and Usability of Social Network for Career Guidiance Among Secondary School Student of Ilorin Metropolis

The research investigates the evolving nature of career guidance, analyzing the impact of social networks on students' exposure to diverse career opportunities and information sources. It underscores the shift from traditional, limited career information sources within schools and immediate environments to the vast array of resources available through social networking platforms. The study employs a comprehensive analysis of survey data, exploring respondents' perceptions and acceptance levels regarding the utilization of social networks for career guidance. Statistical analysis reveals an insignificant relationship between social network usage and career guidance among secondary students, prompting a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding the efficacy of these platforms in guiding career decisions. It was recommended that advocate for enhancing online career guidance resources, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, strengthening digital literacy programs, bridging gaps between social networks and formal career guidance, and encouraging continued research to comprehend the dynamic relationship between social networks and career choices among secondary students.

Covid-19 and sociovirtualization

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought about unprecedented changes in social interaction, necessitating the exploration of new ways to socialize. This article employs a literature review methodology to delve into the impact of Covid-19 on socialization and the emergence of sociovirtualization as an alternative means of connecting and engaging with others in the digital realm.
 The article begins with an overview of the Covid-19 pandemic's global impact on social interaction, highlighting the need for physical distancing and the subsequent rise of sociovirtualization. The literature review method is then employed to examine relevant studies, research articles, and scholarly publications that shed light on the concepts of sociovirtualization and its implications for socialization. The advantages of sociovirtualization are examined, emphasizing the benefits it offers in terms of bridging geographical barriers, ensuring safety during the pandemic, and enabling global knowledge sharing. However, the article also acknowledges the challenges and limitations associated with sociovirtualization, such as technical issues and the potential impact on social connections.
 Strategies for overcoming the barriers to sociovirtualization are discussed, highlighting the importance of improved infrastructure, enhanced virtual features, and inclusive digital literacy programs. The article also explores the relationship between sociovirtualization and mental well-being, recognizing both the positive aspects of maintaining social connections and the potential challenges of excessive screen time and limited physical interactions.
 The article considers the future of socialization, envisioning sociovirtualization as a norm in our social lives. It emphasizes the need for a balanced approach that combines virtual and in-person interactions to foster authentic human connections. By embracing sociovirtualization while considering its implications, we can navigate the current circumstances and prepare for a future where virtual and real-world interactions coexist harmoniously.

Exploring the Impact of Technology-Facilitated Sexual Violence on the Well-being of Undergraduate Students in Ni-gerian Tertiary Institutions

As the digital era reshapes human interactions, concerns regarding technology-facilitated sexual violence (TF-SV) have come to the fore. This study investigates the impact of TF-SV on the well-being and academic performance of undergraduate students in Nigerian tertiary institutions. Quantitative data were gathered from 360 participants from Lagos State University, Lagos State University of Education and Lagos State University of Science and Technology, using random sampling. Findings revealed a significant positive correlation between exposure to TF-SV and psychological distress indicators, including anxiety and depression. Moreover, negative correlations emerged between TF-SV exposure and self-esteem, suggesting a multifaceted impact on students’ psychological well-being. Academic performance indicators, including grade point average, showed a negative correlation with TF-SV exposure, indicating its potential to hinder educational success. The study advances knowledge by elucidating the nuanced repercussions of TF-SV within a Nigerian context and contributes to the broader discourse on technology-mediated vulnerabilities. Recommendations for educational institutions include awareness campaigns, digital literacy programs, support services, and policy reforms to create a safer digital environment for students. By addressing the complex challenges posed by TF-SV, institutions can safeguard students’ well-being and academic pursuits in the digital age.

School Administrators’ Support for Teachers’ Training and Maintenance of Digital Literacy Devices, in the Implementation of Digital Literacy Programme in Public Primary Schools in Kitui County-Kenya

Purpose: This study sought to assess the school administrators’ support to implementation of digital literacy program in public primary schools in Kitui County. The study sought to find out whether school administrators had facilitated teachers for digital literacy trainings and to examine whether school administrators had provided for maintenance of the digital literacy devices.
 Methodology: Descriptive survey research design was used. The target population comprised of 3280 school administrators, who comprised of both head teachers and deputy head teachers and 328 classroom teachers making a total of 3608 respondents. A sample of 10% of the total population was taken making a sample size of 361 respondents, comprising of 328 school administrators and 33 classroom teachers. Self-administered questionnaires were used for data collection. A test- retest was carried out in four public primary schools to establish the reliability of the research instrument. Data collected were analyzed descriptively with help of Statistical Packages of Social Sciences (SPSS) version 28.
 Findings: The findings revealed that a large number of teachers were supported by their school administrators to attend digital literacy training sessions. It was further noted that very few administrators always facilitated for repair of the broken parts of the computers 16(9.8%).
 Unique Contribution to Theory, Policy and Practice: The findings of the study will guide the leadership in effective delivery of flagship programs like the digital literacy program through multi-agency approaches.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to find out school administrators’ possession of digital skills and digital literacy content impact on the implementation of digital literacy program in public primary schools in Kitui county-Kenya.
 Methodology: Descriptive survey research design was used to describe the characteristics of the respondents. Review of related literature was done in line with the objectives of the study. The target population comprised of 3280 school administrators, who comprised of both head teachers and deputy head teachers and 328 classroom teachers making a total of 3608 respondents. A sample of 10% of the total population was taken making a sample size of 361 respondents, comprising of 328 school administrators and 33 classroom teachers. Self-administered questionnaires were used for data collection. A test- retest was carried out in four public primary schools to establish the reliability of the research instrument. Data collected were analyzed descriptively with help of Statistical Packages of Social Sciences (SPSS) version 28.
 Findings: The study established that school administrators’ skills and competencies in digital technology were a good predictor of a smooth digital literacy implementation. On the overall the study found out that schools’ administrators’ possession and use of digital literacy skills was below average. The study further established that 145(88.48%) respondents could access digital literacy content in their school while 19(11.52%) could not access the content in school.

Challenges and Issues of Integrating Information and Communication Technologies in Higher Education in Rural Areas- A Review

The integration of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in higher education represents a transformative force that has the potential to bridge educational disparities and empower rural communities. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the challenges and issues faced in the pursuit of ICT integration in rural higher education settings. Rural areas worldwide are marked by a digital divide, which results in limited access to reliable internet, outdated infrastructure, and high costs associated with ICT resources. These challenges have far-reaching implications, including hindrances to equitable learning opportunities, reduced access to relevant educational content, and an underdeveloped digital literacy among students and faculty. The core challenges discussed in this paper encompass infrastructure limitations, affordability concerns, inadequate digital literacy, curriculum relevance, and the rapid obsolescence of technology. However, the paper also examines potential solutions and best practices that address these challenges. Infrastructure improvements, financial assistance, digital literacy programs, customized curricula, and sustainable technology adoption are strategies to mitigate these issues and enable rural higher education institutions to harness the benefits of ICT effectively.

Kominfo's Cybercreation Digital Literacy in Social Media

The digital literacy movement carried out by Siberkreasi is a work program of the Ministry of Communication and Information which has given birth to a formula for digital literacy in Indonesian society with 4 pillars of digital literacy, namely: digital skills, digital ethics, digital culture, digital security. The aim of this research is to see the results of the Kominfo Cybercreation Digital Literacy Movement in Stimulating Generation Z to Use Media Positively, especially in the Depok City area. This research was conducted using qualitative descriptive research methods. Data collection was carried out by interviews and documentation. The research results show that since 2012 Depok City Communications and Information has carried out digital literacy with its first program "healthy internet". This digital literacy program is primarily targeted at generation Z or a group that is very vulnerable to being exposed to negative content and bad internet influences such as cyber-bullying, pornography, online addiction, violence, and even kidnapping via social media (cyber-stalking). This digital literacy program is still running today and collaborates with several other stakeholders with the target of literacy generation Z in Depok City so that they become individuals who have the awareness of creating a safe and comfortable digital space on social media and the internet.

The Digital Skill Improvement Program for Women of the HEPI Bandung Community Members in Using New Media

The tremendous number of internet usage in Indonesia does not only present positive impacts but also negative implications, particularly for women. Many of them experience difficulties related to digital security, not only for themselves but also for their children. Therefore, a digital literacy program targeting housewives, particularly members of the HEPI Bandung community, is critical. This program was conducted on 21 June 2023 by focusing on literacy to empower the participants to shop online wisely and control children in accessing digital media products effectively. This program has two stages. Number one is knowledge sharing aims at awareness improvements and a two-way sharing session to build knowledge and appropriate solutions. The program evaluation showed that literacy activities witnessed benefits for the participants to be wiser in using the internet. Hopefully, this program can be conducted sustainably in the future program.

Exploring the interconnection of social media, mental health and youth: A bibliometric analysis

This study explores social media, mental health, and youth interconnection and proposes potential future research directions. Utilising bibliometric analysis, we examined a selected set of 58 papers from the Scopus database, focusing on the study conducted between 2015 and 2022 that explored the interconnection of social media, mental health, and youth. We gained insights into the most significant contributions in this domain by assessing citations, publication locations, relevance within the research network, and influential articles and authors. Additionally, we conducted a thorough analysis of topics, identified barriers to expansion discussed in the literature, and recommended potential avenues for further investigation. The data was processed using the Publish or Perish software, while the researchers used a VOS viewer for data visualisation. Statistical analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel. The study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis, including trends in publication growth, research output, and citation analysis. Our search yielded 58 documents, with an increasing trend observed in studies on social media, mental health, and youth. English dominated most research papers, primarily published in journals and conference proceedings. The writers Moreno, M.A., Nicholas, J., Twenge, J.M., and Vishwakarma, D.K. are recognized as the most productive authors. The United States has emerged as the leading nation in publishing output. The survey lists the most significant academic centres, such as Florida State University, California State University, Fullerton, and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. Two significant thematic clusters are revealed by keyword analysis: one focusing on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, internet use, and depression on young people's mental health, and the other investigating the relationships between elements like depressive symptoms, suicide, relationships, and social media use. The study suggests that theoretical frameworks like Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) and the Transactional Model of Stress and Coping can aid in understanding the mechanisms through which social media impacts mental health outcomes among youth. The practical implications of this analysis include the need for targeted interventions and support systems, such as digital literacy programs. The study underlines the necessity for continued research to improve our comprehension of how social media affects young people's mental health and to guide the creation of efficient interventions and regulations.

Impact of Mobile Banking Platforms Paytm and Google Pay on Financial Inclusion in Rural and Semi-Urban Areas in India

This study aimed to investigate the impact of mobile banking platforms, specifically Paytm and Google Pay, on financial inclusion in rural and semi-urban areas in India. The study was motivated by the fact that there had been limited access to formal financial services in these regions, resulting in financial exclusion and diminished economic development. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, the study combined surveys of 1,200 households, focus group discussions, and interviews with local financial institutions. Findings revealed significant improvement in financial inclusion. Approximately 72% of surveyed households indicated increased ease in carrying out financial transactions, including savings, remittances, and bill payments, using Paytm and Google Pay. Furthermore, local businesses reported a 35% increase in revenue, attributing it to simplified payment processes. Additionally, a 40% decrease in cash-based transactions was observed, which has implications for reducing fraud and increasing transparency. However, the study also identified challenges such as lack of internet connectivity and digital literacy, which acted as barriers to adoption for 28% of surveyed households. The study concluded that mobile banking platforms like Paytm and Google Pay have had a profound and largely positive impact on financial inclusion in rural and semi-urban areas in India. Despite existing barriers, the adoption of these platforms has facilitated easier and more secure financial transactions, contributing to increased economic activities in these areas. Recommendations include launching government-backed digital literacy programs and public-private partnerships for expanding internet infrastructure. Future studies should also consider evaluating the long-term sustainability of these platforms in fostering financial inclusion and exploring the possibility of integrating additional services like insurance and loans. Exploring The Advantages and Obstacles of Mobile Governance in Kashmir a Comprehensive Study

Mobile governance (m-Governance) has emerged as a new paradigm for governance in many countries, including India. This study investigates the benefits and barriers of m-governance in the context of Jammu and Kashmir. The study used an analytical and documentary method to reach at conclusion. The findings suggest that m-governance has the potential to enhance citizen engagement and participation, increase transparency and accountability, and improve service delivery. The study also highlights several barriers that hinder the effective implementation of m-governance, including the lack of technological infrastructure and expertise, low literacy rates, and limited access to mobile devices and network connectivity, particularly in rural areas. Furthermore, the study identified concerns related to data privacy and security as a significant challenge to the adoption of m-governance. The study recommends that policymakers should take a holistic approach to m-governance by addressing the barriers and challenges while leveraging the benefits of mobile technology. The study recommends that the government should prioritize the establishment of technological infrastructure, providing digital literacy programs, and strengthening data protection laws to address citizens' privacy concerns. The study concludes that m-governance has the potential to transform the governance landscape in Jammu and Kashmir by improving transparency, accountability, and service delivery, but it requires a collaborative effort from policymakers, government officials, citizens, and private stakeholders to overcome the barriers and harness its full potential.
