Methodological model for teaching residents of foreign language professional communication based on an integrated approach

Importance. The widespread use of foreign language education in non-linguistic universities is due to a number of factors that determine the development of professional activity in various industries. Medicine and healthcare are among the key areas of human activity that require regular updating of knowledge and improvement of professional skills of a specialist in the context of scientific and technological progress. Medical professionals are required to keep abreast of the latest achievements of science and technology, to study new methods of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases in order to provide patients with better medical care. Using the example of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world community realized that the emergence of such threats requires rapid response and cooperation between various countries and organizations. Only through the experience of interaction between scientists and medical professionals from different countries, it was possible to jointly normalize the epidemiological situation around the world. The World Health Organization has played a key role in coordinating international efforts to combat coronavirus infection by providing all the necessary information in foreign languages, mainly English and French. In view of this, there is a social demand in the labor market for medical workers who speak English perfectly, and in higher educational institutions there is a demand for language courses from students of residency. The main purpose of the study is to develop a methodological model for teaching residents of foreign language professional communication based on an integrated approach.Research Methods. To achieve the main goal, theoretical and empirical research methods are applied, which make it possible to study and analyze existing theories and concepts on the topic of developing a methodological model for teaching residents of foreign language professional co mmunication based on an integrated approach. Based on the analysis of the academic literature on the research topic, the regularities of the construction of the methodological model, its functions and component composition are revealed. Modeling of the educational process makes it possible to create an effective methodological model for teaching residents of foreign language professional communication based on an integrated approach.Results and Discussion. The conducted research makes it possible to identify the didactic functions of the methodological model: 1) orienting; 2) regulatory; 3) formative; 4) controlling. Based on the identified didactic functions, a methodological model for teaching residents of foreign la nguage professional communication based on an integrated approach is developed, which is structurally presented in the form of five consecutive blocks: 1) prerequisites; 2) goal setting block; 3) content block; 4) operational and activity block; 5) evaluation and performance block.Conclusion. The developed methodological model for teaching residents of foreign language professional communication based on an integrated approach allows creating a simulation of the educational process in order to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the proposed teaching met hodology. The obtained research results are supposed to be used in the methods of foreign language teaching in medical universities in the training of residents.

Didactic possibilities of scientific and educational LabXchange online platforms for genetics learning in the pedagogical ZVO

Aim. Highlight the possibilities of the scientific and educational platform LabXchange for distance learning of genetics for students of higher education in the specialties 014 Secondary Education (Biology and Human Health) and 091 Biology. Methods. Content analysis, survey, generalization. Results. LabXchange, an online educational platform created by scientists, provides users with free access to high-quality scientific education through a variety of online tools. LabXchange's Comprehensive General Genetics Curriculum for Higher Education Students includes content types that transform standard science material into engaging interactive visualizations that promote better understanding of complex concepts, provide the opportunity to conduct genetic experiments in virtual laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment, help personalize the learning process, making it interesting and accessible opens up new opportunities for developing critical thinking skills, creativity and independence. Conclusions. The LabXchange online scientific and educational platform is an innovative resource for the study of genetics for students of higher education, as it performs important didactic functions. The experience of its use by students of a pedagogical university is useful for the formation of their professional competences.

The Evolution of Pedagogical Lexicography From the 1990s to the DigitalEnvironment: An Analysis of Open Source Materials

The dictionary is a tool with a clear didactic function: explaining the intrinsic characteristics of the terms in a specific context, with the objective that the user can both understand and use words appropriately. However, since the introduction of new technologies and the internet, the way of dealing with lexicographical work has changed, as have the ways of consultation. While dictionaries used to be conceptualized as large paper books, they are now enriched and interconnected online platforms. The proposed topic in the present text may be of interest to explain the current pedagogical lexicography landscape and to know what open lexicographic resources can be used by students and teachers of Spanish as a mother language (L1) and as a second language (L2) or as a foreign language (ELE); since, thanks to these databases, a representative sample of the language in use is provided.

The form of Organization of the Game in Speech Activity in the Process of Mastering Non-Native (Russian) Language Summary The article focuses on the role of game in teaching Russian as a foreign language. Emphasis is placed on didactic functions of the game during the formation of the communicative competence. The relevance of the research is determined by the change in the educational paradigm and the increasing interest in the game forms of practical training. The role of the game in the light of new educational tasks is analyzed. The role of the game in the development of students' communication skills is shown. The article concludes that the usage of the game gives a positively affection on the learning process and its results. Value Conflict and Personal Choice in The Scarlet Letter from the Perspective of Ethical Literary Criticism

Nathaniel Hawthorne was the preeminent American Romantic writer of the 19th century. The Scarlet Letter, as Hawthorne’s classic work, has been praised by most critics. Hawthorne paid attention to the ethical problems of Hester and Dimmesdale and gave a comprehensive depiction of their ethical choices after they had violated the Puritan ethical norms. This paper intends to use ethical literary criticism proposed by Professor Nie Zhenzhao, based on ethical dilemma and ethical choice, within the ethical backdrop of New England, to analyze ethical conflicts and ethical choices of the protagonists in the novel. Ultimately, it seeks to warn people the importance of complying with the ethical norms of the society. Exploring the ethical and moral values embedded in The Scarlet Letter will enhance the domestic study of Hawthorne’s works and better realize the didactic function of literature.

Сущность формативного оценивания как дидактического концепта высшего образования

The purpose of the research is to reveal the didactic essence of formative assessment in the context of its conceptualization in the university pedagogical process. The article refers to the problem of improving the pedagogical process through the use of educational technologies of formative assessment. The study attempts to trace the evolution of the formation of the concept of formative assessment in Russian and foreign pedagogy, to identify its essence and content, to characterize formative assessment in the modern educational process of the university as a pedagogical phenomenon that contributes to improving the quality of learning. As a result, the researchers clarified the essence of the concept “formative assessment” and defined it on the basis of the conducted comprehensive analysis of the genesis of its conceptualization in global pedagogical science. The novelty of the proposed research lies in the presented characteristic of formative assessment in a modern pedagogical process of higher education institutions, revealing its essence through didactic functions and strategic principles. The paper concludes by highlighting the didactic potential of formative assessment, focusing on its essential characteristic as a regulator of educational activity, which provides the continuous development and adaptation of the pedagogical process to the individual abilities and learning needs of students in order to improve the quality of education. The practical advantage of the paper is that it proposes tactics and strategies for the implementation of formative assessment technologies in the university educational process.

Pantun in the classical and Digital Malay Era: A phenomenological study

This study aims to describe the function of Pantun in the Classical Malay era and the digital era in Malay society in Riau Province, Indonesia. This research is descriptive qualitative research using a phenomenological strategy. Data were collected by interview techniques, namely with humanists, chanters, and Pantun maestros, and then through documentation and observation. Pantun data was taken from representatives of the four major rivers in Riau: the Rokan, Siak, Kampar, and Indragiri. The validation of the research data was carried out using source triangulation. Data analysis was done using interactive techniques: data reduction, presentation, analysis, and conclusion. The results of this study indicate that the function of Pantun in Riau in the Classical Malay era was the function of communication in daily life, in traditional wedding processions and conveying feelings of affection, didactic functions, entertainment functions, and Kamal functions. The function of Pantun in Riau in the digital era is only to open and close remarks at an event, such as in traditional wedding processions and performing arts entertainment.

Heraldic Tracts in the Tudor and Stuart England

In the late 16th–17th centuries both heraldic and chivalric practices and heraldic literature were flourishing in England. The article reconstructs the repertoire of the heraldic tracts written under the Tudors and the Early Stuarts. These sources represent an especially significant complex for the study of the rise of the social as an autonomous sphere. Heraldic and paraheraldic tracts can be divided into three categories in accordance with the structural organization of the texts: displays of heraldry, tracts about nobility, and catalogues of nobility. Each category is characterized by its peculiar themes within a broad heraldic spectrum. The tracts concerning nobility revealed the substance of the phenomenon, defined and structured its analytical parameters; therefore, the boundaries of the nobility were determined and specified. Heraldic displays, in addition to their practical and didactic functions, visualized the abstract notion of “nobility” and impressed this concept upon the minds due to a wide range of associations, which were revived in the process of interpretation of the heraldic symbols. Finally, the catalogues of the nobility concretized nobilitas in its visible boundaries and/or historical dynamics. Taken as an intertext owing to the compilations and mutual citations, these three types of the heraldic narratives created the space where the autonomization of the social was developing. The crucial factor in this process was the multi-dimensional nature of the definition of the concept of nobility. The evolution of the heraldic tracts illustrated important and large-scale processes: 1) the evolution of the perception of the English constitution not as the corpus of practices, but as the complex of practices and texts, which not only fixed the custom but also made its interpretation possible; 2) the rise of the social in the Early Modern intellectual discourse.

Social political and didactic functions of ‘geerarsaa’ among Hababo Guduru oromos

The objective of this research was to examine the functions of geerarsa, a popular folksong for expressing feelings, aspirations and achievements artistically. Thus, different excerpts of geerarsa that depict the socio- cultural function, socio- economic function and socio- political function were collected for the study. Data were gathered using interview, observation and focus group discussion. The data were translated into English and analysed based on the alluded functions. The study shows that geerarsa is sung for different purposes by Oromos in Hababo Guduru. Thus, geerarsa is used as a medium for expressing political aspirations, socio-economic status, and culture besides nurturing children with the desired moral lessons. Thus, the people in the area reflect their norm and moral codes through their folktales. However, acculturation and globalization pose as threat to geerarsa and hence different mechanisms should be put in place to preserve this folksong. There are different materials used during geerarsa.

Художественный мир философской сказки: реалии в творчестве Г. М. Цыферова и С. Г. Козлова

The article is devoted to the study of the types and functions of realia presented in the philosophical fairy tales written by G. M. Tsyferov and S. G. Kozlov. Their works, focusing on moral issues, depict the world through contrasting the existential and the everyday, which necessitates the study of the authors’ ways of representing the signs of their epoch. A motive analysis carried out in the paper takes into account the cultural and historical situation and shows that S. Kozlov’s cycle of fairy tales represents the home space and the corresponding household realia, gaining a cosmic scale and thereby affirming the idea of the universe as a common home, while G. Tsyferov’s works depict similar objects in connection with the problem of growing up and becoming a socially active person, prioritizing the study of modern city realia which convey the idea of striving for goodness and beauty as the basis of historical transformations. Both writers turn to the sphere of culture, but there is a distinction: G. Tsyferov appeals to the life experience of the addressee, encourages them to rethink familiar objects, building associative chains and actualizing the didactic function of humor, while S. Kozlov attracts the reader’s attention to absolutely new information, noting the specifics of the realia of different cultures, thereby stimulating interest in a different type of worldview and explaining the possibility of contacting this worldview on the basis of common values. The paper concludes that the characteristics of realia introduced into the artistic world of a philosophical fairy tale change depending on the psychological and age characteristics of the addressee and the ideological and aesthetic views of the author, but in any case, the establishment of such a connection with reality makes it possible to reveal the ideological component of works devoted to existential problems.

Between Art Historical Representation and Didactic Functionality: The Cast Collection of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp

During the long nineteenth century, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp – just like many other art schools in this period – assembled a collection of some 500 plaster casts after ancient and modern sculptures, which played an essential role in the education of young art students. The creation of such collections went in parallel with the blossoming of cast museums all over Europe, as well as the emergence of a large-scale exchange network set up to facilitate the international dissemination of plaster casts. However, in contrast to cast museums, which brought together masterpieces of classical Western sculpture in order to contribute to the aesthetic edification of the public, the cast collections of art academies had a more pragmatic and didactic function. This article focuses on cast collections at art academies, and how the formation and functioning of such collections related to broader educational concepts and practices at these schools. Taking the collection of plaster casts at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp as a case study, we will trace the various actors, methods and strategies employed to create the collection, uncover how the collection related to the artistic idea(l)s expressed in the educational programme of that institution, and discuss how and where it was located and displayed. Based on the rich archives of the academy, it examines a broad range of different sources, including purchase lists, inventories and correspondence concerning the formation of the collection, as well as floor plans, photographs and original drawings attesting to the location and use of the casts. It traces the provenance of the objects, analyzes the profiles of the individuals and institutions involved in creating the collection, and identifies to what extent and how creative repurposing played a role in the collection’s functioning. The article argues how cast collections formed by art academies – in addition to representing the art historical canon of a given place or period – are an important reflection of the didactic practices, aesthetic priorities and, above all, the creative encounters that distinguish these institutions from the purposes of the public (cast) museum.

THE EMBLEMATIC CODE OF B. BRECHT’S "WAR PRIMER"

In times of Russian military aggression against Ukraine the world’s anti-war literary heritage has been particularly relevant. The article analyses the peculiarities of "War Primer" by B. Brecht and its connection with the emblematic traditions of the Baroque era. Hence, "War Primer" resembles a photo album with photographs and commentaries on them. The historical sequence of the depicted events is evident – each photo is accompanied by a commentary, and almost every photo has a caption with reference material at the end of the album. All visual materials were published in Swedish and American newspapers. The combination of visual-iconographic and verbal interpretation along with didactic functions is reminiscent of Baroque emblems. It is particularly noteworthy that the comments on the photographs appear in the form of epigrams. The presented article also includes the translation of the epigrams from German to Ukrainian as well as an interpretation of the ways in which Brecht created the alienation effect. In addition, the category of chimerism is characterized as a form of combining the real visual and the conventional verbal types of the artist’s comprehension and representation of a certain topic. It is emphasized that emblematism is a form of expression of chimerism. The article focuses on the didactic functions of the created emblems along with the development of a certain topic by the author – Brecht aims to show, characterize, and convey to people the tragedy of war so that it never happens again. From the other perspective, "chimerism" is perceived as a combination of the conventional (a literary work, a plot, or an image that was created in the last century) and the reality: nowadays artistic work exists in a new way, develops, acquires a new interpretation and a new vision.

Modern Georgian corporate law in the mirror of European law. General review of the reform

One of the obligations under the Georgia-EU Association Agreement was to undertake reforms of Georgian corporate law. Since 1 January 2022, Georgia has had a new corporate law, which is built on a regulatory function. From the point of view of law policy, it is based upon the regime of dispositional arrangement, though regulation of joint-stock companies constitutes an exception. Saturation of modern Georgian corporate law with legislative norms is the best way to overcome corporate impasses. As a result of the recent reform, the new corporate law contributes to the foreseeability and predictability of the corporate-legal relationships, which at once should provide more confidence for both foreign and domestic investors. The norms contained in the present reform are also equipped with a didactic function, which is especially necessary for the post-Soviet corporate economy.

From Letter Collections to Letter Writing Manuals

Abstract It is well known that Byzantine and post-Byzantine manuscript letter collections had a didactic function serving as manuals on epistolary art. An important task is to examine how and to what extent this function influenced the structure of collections and the method of reworking epistolary material. The subject of the present paper is the letter collection surviving in cod. Heid. Pal. gr. 356 ( 13th c. ). The collection contains Pseudo-Libanios’ ‘Epistolary Styles’, letters of Phalaris, Libanios, Gregory of Nazianzos, Symeon Logothetes, Michael Psellos and other authors. The collection is analyzed in terms of its content and structure. Its following features are revealed: Firstly, from letters of different authors, those are selected that correspond to common epistolary situations. Most of the letters presented in the collection are recommending, reproaching for silence, accompanying the gift, etc. Secondly, letters belonging to the same type or epistolary situation are often grouped together. Thirdly, letters are reworked so that it is more convenient to use them as models. Gregory of Nazianzos’ letters are presented in short excerpts, many of them being transformed so that they serve as models for certain letter types – friendly, commendatory, etc.

Phonological Variation in Child-Directed Speech is Modulated by Lexical Frequency.

We investigate whether child-directed speech (CDS) contains a higher proportion of canonical pronunciations compared to adult-directed speech (ADS), focusing on Korean noun stem-final obstruent variation. In a word-teaching task, we observed that mothers use a higher rate of canonical pronunciation when addressing infants than when addressing adults. In a follow-up experiment, adults exhibited a higher rate of canonical pronunciation for high- than low-frequency words. Additional analyses conducted with only the high-frequency monosyllabic words from the two experiments found no evidence for simplified phonology in CDS when lexical frequency was controlled for. Our findings suggest that the higher rate of canonical forms in CDS, with respect to Korean morphophonological rules, is mediated by the frequency of word usage. Thus, the didactic function of CDS phonology appears to be a byproduct of mothers using familiar words with children. These results highlight the importance of considering word usage in investigating the nature of CDS.

Digital video as a way of evaluating learning in Mathematics

The aim of this article is to reflect on the potential of producing and using digital videos with mathematics content in the process of assessing school learning. To do so, we bring the analysis of three videos entered in a festival and the speeches of their producers in a questionnaire and a group interview. It deals with an excerpt from an Art-Based Educational Investigation, which adopted A/r/tography as a qualitative research methodology and, as a theoretical reference, the notions of Human-Beings-With-Media were used as a knowledge producing unit, Art as an aesthetic experience and the estrangement effect of the Didactic Theater Theory. As a result, similarities were observed, in the didactic functions, between theater, cinema and the analyzed videos, such as the interdisciplinarity of contents, the multimodality of languages and humor, culminating in the idea of using videos as a form of evaluation.

Digitalization in the field of music education: analysis of students – future music teachers and music educators

Introduction. Over the past decade, teacher-musicians have been intensively mastering the didactic functions of the digital space and digital technologies. However, the demonstration of successful practices for the use of digital resources in music education is not an indicator of the widespread use of these practices. The purpose of this article is to analyze the factors influencing the application of musical pedagogical technologies in music education. Materials and methods. 78 respondents took part in the survey and interviews: 4th-5th year students and teachers of Bunin Yelets State University (Russian Federation), teachers of additional education, music directors, music teachers. When studying the respondents' ideas about the factors influencing the use of music and computer technologies in music education, the level of education and teaching experience of music teachers were taken into account. To study the experience and ideas of respondents about the features of the digitalization of music education, a questionnaire was developed, consisting of 3 blocks: "Motivation and competence", "Support", "Material and technical and digital environment". The Kruskal-Wallis test was used as a method of mathematical statistics. Results. The most developed digital competence in the narrow professional sense is among teachers of higher education (63.7% have a high or above average level), students (57.2%), music teachers (32.4%) and teachers of additional education (19%), the least developed – among music directors (7.7%). The motivational potential is highest among teachers of higher education (90.9% have a high and above average level), students (52.4%), music teachers (37.8%) and teachers of additional education (26.6%). Music-computer technologies are used most intensively in the educational process by music teachers with experience from 3 to 20 years (48.4%). Educational and institutional support for the digital transformation of music education is focused mainly on higher education teachers and music teachers. Availability of equipment is assessed at a high level in universities (100%), and at an average level in schools (61.1%). The largest deficit is observed in the field of preschool education (low level – 1 5.4%, level below average – 84.6%). Scientific novelty. The features of the digital transformation of music education are empirically studied in the context of the factors of the level of education and experience of music teachers. Practical significance. The results of the study can be used in the development of programs for higher education disciplines and additional professional training programs for teachers on the use of music -computer technologies in the educational process.

The study aims to develop a technology for designing educational materials in English for agrarian universities based on pedagogical design. The paper identifies the main problems of the existing textbooks in a foreign language for students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at agrarian universities, formulates methodological principles for designing modern educational materials, develops the stages of the technology. The scientific novelty of the study lies in elaborating and providing a scientific substantiation for the content of the analytical, design-related, content and activity related, evaluation-effective stages of the technology of designing educational materials in a foreign language for students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at agrarian universities. As a result, the problem of designing modern educational materials in a foreign language for students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree at agrarian universities that would possess communicative significance, competence orientation and implement the full range of didactic functions was solved.

ROLE LEADERSHIP MODEL: THEORETICAL FOUNDATION AND ROLE QUESTIONNAIRE LEADERSHIP SKILLS

The article is devoted to the study of the phenomenon of leadership skills from the standpoint of the role approach, as well as the standardization of the role–structure questionnaire of leadership skills. The study is focused on the theoretical substantiation of the role structure of leadership skills and testing the role–structure questionnaire. The study was attended by 236 studied at the age of 18-55 as a psychometric sample. Tested in this study The role– structure questionnaire of leadership skills allows to evaluate the degree of development of leadership skills by the roles of the Negotiator, who performs a communicative function of leadership, a Coach, who performs a didactic function of leadership, a Guide who performs an organizational function of leadership, a Counsellor, who performs the communicative and organizational function of leadership, a Motivator who performs a motivational function of leadership, a Friend who performs an emotional function of leadership. A Director who performs an instrumental and managerial function of leadership and a Team-bilder who performs a team of leadership.

Sofia Khatun’s Silsila: A Genealogy of Foremothers in Print

Between 1922 and 1925, Sofia Khatun, a Muslim woman writer, published over 25 essays in some of Calcutta’s most widely circulated Bengali periodicals. Among these essays, her accounts of women’s position in premodern Greece, Rome, India and Egypt and her speculation on the originary sites of women’s movements are particularly interesting. Khatun here challenges the primacy of western actors and explicitly connects women’s emancipation with the era of Islamization in West Asia and North Africa. While reconfiguring dominant narratives of women’s social and political activism, she seeks foremothers in both obvious and obscure milieux. In doing so, Khatun traces a silsila or chain of predecessors, who are sources of inspiration to herself as well as her contemporary readers. A time-honoured tradition in Islamicate cultures, salasil (plural) usually foreground Sufi pirs (spiritual guides) and transmitters of Hadith (sayings attributed to the Prophet), more often men than women. Khatun reorients this practice to showcase women activists as key players in a male-dominated textual space. The conceptual metaphor of silsila captures her bringing together of Anglo-American suffragists, Arabian sultanas and African women warriors within a single genealogy. Khatun draws on two genres popular in medieval Arabia to enable her eclectic assemblage of foremothers to speak to the concerns of women readers in twentieth-century Bengal. The first, tabaqat, are biographical dictionaries that provide emulative paradigms. The second, a set of belletristic genres encompassed within the term adab, are short prose pieces and precedents to the ‘modern’ essay. Building on the former’s didactic function and the latter’s anecdotal quality, Khatun allows her foremothers to articulate multiple models of gender justice pursued at different times and across transregional spaces. By upholding such pluralistic and heterodox feminist pasts, she pays attention to the intersectional nature of gender inequity and addresses the ‘woman question’ in all its complexity in late colonial Bengal.
