Sustainability Implications of the Arctic Shipping Route for Shanghai Port Logistics in the Post-Pandemic Era

Amidst the transformation of logistics dynamics due to the global pandemic, the attention directed toward the effects of the Arctic shipping route on Shanghai Port has intensified. This study thoroughly investigates the incorporation of the Arctic shipping route into Shanghai Port logistics, with a dedicated focus on sustainability implications in the post-pandemic era. Leveraging both gravity models and stochastic frontier gravity models, we meticulously analyze the multifaceted opportunities and challenges stemming from this integration, highlighting the pivotal roles of economic growth and geographical proximity. The empirical analysis, spanning the years 2010 to 2021, provides compelling evidence of the Arctic shipping route’s positive effects on the logistical operations of Shanghai Port. The analysis highlights its potential to substantially enhance trade volumes, streamline logistical efficiency, and broaden transit options. Additionally, our assessment of the post-pandemic challenges and opportunities faced by Shanghai Port underscores its adaptability and resilience in the constantly shifting trade milieu. Overall, this study makes significant contributions by offering a comprehensive perspective on the complex interplay between economic, geographical, and external factors. The insights provided here serve as invaluable guidance for policymakers, trade analysts, and businesses that are navigating the intricacies of the contemporary global trade environment. Our findings aim to foster sustainable and resilient trade relationships, facilitating the development of port logistics in the post-pandemic era.

Grey Correlation Analysis of the Relationship Between Port Logistics and Regional Economic Development in Tangshan City

With the rapid development of the global economy, China has become one of the most important port logistics countries in the world. Port logistics not only promotes the vigorous development of port economy, but also promotes the development of regional economy to a great extent. Taking Tangshan Port as an example, this paper analyzes the correlation between the level of logistics development of Tangshan Port and the level of economic development of Tangshan City. Firstly, we analyze Tangshan Port from two dimensions: the current situation of port logistics development and the current situation of economic development, and secondly, we select relevant data from 2011 to 2020 to conduct a gray correlation analysis between the port throughput of Tangshan Port and various economic indicators of Tangshan City, and analyze the key factors affecting the development of Tangshan Port by calculating their correlation degrees and analyze the research results, based on which provides feasible suggestions for the port logistics development of Tangshan Port. The results show that the tertiary industry has the highest correlation with port logistics, followed by the total investment in fixed assets of the whole society. However, the economic data of total import and export trade has the lowest correlation with the development of port logistics, which indicates that there is a certain incongruity between the development of port logistics and import and export trade. Finally, some suggestions are put forward for the development of Tangshan port logistics, such as optimizing and upgrading the industrial structure, increasing the investment in logistics infrastructure construction, and promoting the coordinated development of import and export trade and port logistics, so as to promote the coordinated development of port logistics and economy.

Research on Coordinated Development of Shenzhen Port Logistics and Hinterland Economy

As the main channel of global cargo transportation, the coordinated development of the logistics and hinterland economy of coastal ports is of great significance to promote the sustainable development of countries (regions). The improvement in port logistics’ performance lays the foundation for the smooth transportation of goods. The improvement in coastal port infrastructure facilities will also effectively reduce the resource loss and carbon emissions generated in the process of cargo handling and turnover. Aiming at researching the coordinated development of coastal port logistics and the hinterland economy, this paper constructs the index system of Shenzhen port logistics and Shenzhen’s economic development, selects the relevant data from 1996 to 2020, uses the grey correlation model to analyze the internal correlation between Shenzhen port logistics and Shenzhen’s economic development, constructs the system order degree model and the coupling coordination model, explores their coordinated development degree and collaborative trend, and further selects the Johansen cointegration test and Granger causality test to verify the development relationship between the two, and puts forward relevant suggestions to promote the sustainable development of port logistics and the hinterland economy. The empirical results show that there is a high correlation between Shenzhen port logistics and Shenzhen’s economic development, the degree of coordinated development is increasing year by year, and there is a long-term equilibrium relationship between the two, which has the characteristics of mutual promotion.

Research on the Coordinated Development of Coastal Port Logistics and International Trade: Based on Six Coastal Provinces of China

As an important channel for international trade cargo transportation, the logistics development level of coastal ports is a key factor to promote the growth of international trade. Strengthening the coordinated development of coastal port logistics and international trade will help promote the sustainable development process of countries (regions). Based on this, this paper explores the sustainable development of coastal port logistics and international trade. Taking six coastal provinces (cities) in China as samples, by analyzing the index data of each subsystem from 2016 to 2020, the entropy weight method is used to calculate the weight of each index, and the coupling coordination model of coastal port logistics development and international trade is constructed to explore the coordinated development degree. Through empirical analysis, it is proposed to strengthen the infrastructure construction of coastal ports, promote low-carbon operations, improve the optimal allocation of resources, and deepen the development of cooperation with coastal ports in importing and exporting countries. The results show that the coordination degree of China’s coastal port logistics and international trade development has great regional differences. Shanghai and Zhejiang Province have been at a good level of coordinated development in recent years, while the coordinated development degree of Liaoning Province and Tianjin is in the reciprocal position.

An Integrated Entropy-COPRAS Framework for Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Logistics Development from the Perspective of Dual Circulation

To promote the construction of new development patterns of dual circulation and to accelerate the smooth flow of logistics channels, port logistics has become a new growth point for the logistics industry that accelerates the connection between domestic and foreign dual circulation. Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, as one of the main hub ports in China, is facing the key issue of how to clarify its current development status and future development direction. To scientifically measure and evaluate the status quo of the logistics development of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, clarify the advantages and disadvantages of the development and construction of the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port logistics industry, based on the situation of new standards and new requirements for the logistics industry in the dual circulation pattern, this study firstly constructs a scientific and reasonable evaluation index system of port logistics from seven aspects, including port infrastructure, international logistics capacity, and smart logistics capacity. An integrated comprehensive evaluation method based on entropy and Complex Proportional Assessment (COPRAS) is then proposed, and a comprehensive evaluation and longitudinal comparative analysis of the logistics level of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port are carried out. The results show that the development of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port in recent years is in line with that of many other ports due to the benefit of green logistics capacity, but it is seriously limited by smart logistics capabilities, and in the future, it should choose to continue to exert efforts in international logistics capabilities, green logistics capabilities, and total logistics capabilities.

Purpose This study attempted to analyze the competitiveness of the three major ports, Shanghai Port, Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, and Lianyungang Port, and put forward policy implications for the development of the ports in the Yangtze River Delta to enlighten the development of port logistics in South Korea and propose the possibility of cooperation between South Korean and Chinese ports. Design/Methodology/Approach In this study, two influencing factors were analyzed by deriving the sub-factors of four determinants of Porter’s diamond model, and the competitiveness of port logistics in the Yangtze Delta in China was analyzed using the Regional Innovation System (RIS) model. Findings Through the analysis of each representative port in the Yangtze Delta region, the overall competitiveness of port logistics is in relatively good condition. Except for the relatively low logistics competitiveness of ports such as the Lianyun River Port, most ports, including Shanghai Port and Ningbo-Zhou San Port, are already high. Research Implications First, it is necessary to establish a diversified cooperative system for the distribution of port logistics between Korea and China. Second, it is indispensable to take full advantage of a policy to revitalize regional ports at a national level. Third, it is necessary to continue to expand the industrial supply network and ties in the port hinterland of the Yangtze River Delta region of China. Fourth, it is necessary to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the regional innovation system and establish a business strategy for port logistics toward China.

Research on ecological evaluation of Shanghai port logistics based on emergy ecological footprint models

With the advent of economic globalization, port logistics industry in China has developed rapidly, but the energy consumption and pollution emissions brought by the development of port logistics are also increasing, which has seriously affected the regional environment. This study improves the traditional calculation method of ecological footprint based on the theory of emergy analysis and builds the emergy-ecological footprint (EEF) model of port logistics. Through data collection and analysis, the ecological situation of Shanghai port logistics from 2009 to 2018 is studied. The results show that the energy footprint of Shanghai port logistics is the largest component of the ecological footprint of port logistics, followed by the pollution footprint. Although the development of port water logistics promotes the development of natural resources and improves the ecological carrying capacity of port logistics, the ecological footprint is higher than the ecological carrying capacity, and Shanghai port logistics is still in an ecological deficit state. Therefore, this paper puts forward some strategies and suggestions to improve the ecological situation of Shanghai port logistics from the aspects of the formulation of laws and regulations, the improvement of port production and operation facilities, the improvement of collection and distribution structure and the strengthening of propaganda. Not only is it beneficial to the development of Shanghai green port logistics, but it also brings certain reference significance to the construction of other green ports.

Evaluation of Key Factors for the Port Logistics Development in Countries Along the Belt and Road

The port logistics capacity of countries along the Belt and Road is of great significance to promoting Chinese overseas comprehensive supporting system. The study combines quality data with numerical data to extract the key factors affecting the port logistics development for countries along the Belt and Road. Based on grey correlation analysis and factor analysis, 17 major ports of these countries are evaluated from 11 key factors. The results show that infrastructure, transportation, and entering and leaving costs are crucial for the development of port logistics. The research provides scientific decision-making basis for the construction of an overseas comprehensive supporting system under the context of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Study on Influencing Factors of Port Logistics Development Based on Configuration Analysis QCA

Purpose – In the context of economic globalization and the continuous development of international trade, as countries around the sea peninsula, port construction is particularly important. Based on the research on the influencing factors of port logistics development based on the allocation analysis, QCA (Qualitative Comparative Analysis) provides the basis for the planning and policy of port logistics development and has important theoretical value and practical significance for improving the level of port logistics management, reducing logistics operating costs and increasing economic benefits. In the tide of global integration for the development of port logistics, promote the growth of foreign trade economy of the city. It is also of great significance to the development and progress of commerce and trade. Design/methodology – Based on the relevant data samples of various ports in South Korea, this paper uses fsQCA (fuzzy set Qualitative Comparative Analysis) to integrate and analyze the influence mechanism of port logistics development and extracts five influencing factors of port logistics development, including the port’s scale and infrastructure in the hard environment, port-neighboring enterprises in the soft environment, hinterland economy and government support. Findings – The five factors are unable to separately constitute the necessary and sufficient conditions of port logistics development, only a combined model can influence lake port logistics development. The scale and infrastructure of the port itself and port-neighboring ring enterprises are the main core conditions, which work together on the port, affect the throughput capacity of the port, and promote the development of port logistics. When the port-neighboring enterprises are not complete and the scale is low, the growth of port throughput will be restrained and the development of port logistics will be affected, whether the hinterland economic benefits are general, the development of portneighboring enterprises is insufficient, or the government supports are limited. Originality/value – Through the research on the development of port logistics in South Korea from the perspective of configuration, this paper finds the configuration influence of hard environment and soft environment on the development of port logistics, which has important theoretical and practical significance for better promoting the development of port logistics in South Korea.

Forecasting the Logistics Demand of Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port

Objective - The objective of this paper is to establish the forecasting models of port cargo throughput and container throughput in Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port in the next 5 years, and to put forward the countermeasures of port logistics development in Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port according to the forecast results. Methodology/Technique – The data of cargo throughput and container throughput of Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port and 3 port areas of Beihai, Fangcheng and Qinzhou in 2009-2020 are collected through the data of Guangxi Statistical Yearbook and Guangxi Statistical Bulletin. Based on 2019 and 2020, the forecasting models of cargo throughput and container throughput in Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port and 3 port areas of Beihai, Fangcheng and Qinzhou are establishe using a weighted moving average forecasting method. The cargo throughput and container throughput of Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port and 3 port areas of Beihai, Fangcheng and Qinzhou in 2020/2021-2025 are predicted. Findings – The forecast results show that by 2025, the cargo throughput of Guangxi Beibu Gulf Port is expected to exceed 400 million tons, and the container throughput is expected to exceed 10 million TEU. According to the fitting diagram of forecast results and actual data, it can be seen that the accuracy of the forecast results is very high. Novelty – It is innovative to select 2 base years in 2019 and 2020 to establish forecasting model. Based on the comparative analysis of the forecast results, this paper puts forward various measures to promote the development of port logistics of Guangxi Beibu Gulf port, such as strengthening the construction of port self-condition, strengthening the co-ordinated development of port and economic hinterland, speeding up the construction of port collection and distribution system, training and introducing all kinds of high-quality port logistics talents. Based on the collection of information resources related to port logistics and foreign trade, the empirical analysis of the relationship between port logistics and international trade is carried out according to the collection results, combined with the grey correlation theory and VAR model. This work analyze the correlation between international trade and port logistics by using grey correlation degree, builds the corresponding VAR model, and analyzes the relationship between the two. It was found that there is and stable equilibrium relationship among trade, port cargo throughput and container throughput. Finally, the paper gives some suggestions on the development of port logistics and international trade from the aspects of strengthening regional cooperation of port logistics, strengthening government work, strengthening industry cooperation and strengthening personnel training of enterprises.

In this paper, the development strategy planning of coastal port logistics based on supply chain is studied. The research is divided into four parts: firstly, SWOT analysis is used to investigate and analyze the development status of coastal port logistics. Secondly, the demand of port logistics is predicted by elastic coefficient method. Then, based on the above analysis results, logistics development strategy planning and design are carried out, including port logistics planning site selection, port logistics facilities scale determination, port logistics information system planning. Finally, the effects of port logistics development strategy planning before and after the implementation are evaluated by constructing the evaluation index system of port logistics competitiveness. The results show that the comprehensive score is higher after the implementation than before, which proves that the study is effective.

Navigation risk and route optimization in the northern waters of Zhoushan

인천 내항 통합사 출범에 따른 만족도 조사 연구

Since the start of the terminal operating company(TOC) system in Incheon''s inland port, various measures have been discussed to stabilize the management of the operator following the continuous decrease in volume since 2007. However, as the company experienced difficulties in the current state of operation both internally and externally, it was decided that the integration of the TOC, which had been discussed as a way to improve the management of the Incheon inland port operator. As a result, it was launched in 2018. This study was intended to quantify the qualitative satisfaction level of the service by investigating the post-integration satisfaction level of customers using the Incheon port following the launch of the integrated company. In addition, the purpose of the project is to collect diverse Voice Of Customer(VOC) to discover logistics process improvement factors and improve satisfaction level. The satisfaction survey was divided into three major factors: ''sales service'', ''port operation service'' and ''port authorities service''. The average satisfaction level, or “port authorities service,” was 54.4, the highest in three categories. The results of the ''sales service'' average satisfaction survey showed 51.8 points, and the ''port operation service'' had the lowest average satisfaction score with 50.0. This study is the first integrated the case of a single company in line with the government''s initiative, and it is believed that it can contribute to the development of port logistics with the launch of a successful fully integrated corporation by reflecting the economic effects, productivity comparison analysis, qualitative indicators of satisfaction, and preference when integrating into other ports.
