Canopy garden model for synergy of land and sea area on Papan Island in Tojo Una Una Regency, Central Sulawesi

Pulau Papan is one part of the Togean archipelago, Kabupaten Tojo Una Una. Initially, the Pulau Papan area was part of Tiga Pulau Village, Walea Islands District and Malenge Village, Talatako District, because the people who lived in this area came from these two villages. However, in 2011 Pulau Papan was expanded along with the increase in the number of family heads by 638 people and became part of the Kadoda Village area, Talatako District. The aim of this research is to build synergy in destination development between sea space and land/island space by creating regional nodes that are beautiful and function for the public. The public function that is formed can be utilized by the community both as a public space and a functional area that is beneficial for the residents of Pulau Papan, for example a green area containing vegetables for the residents. This vegetable green area is needed because of the limited vegetables on Pulau Papan. The solution proposed in this research is to design a canopy garden model that can become a green structure in the Pulau Papan area. The canopy garden will function to synergize the arrangement of land and sea areas on Pulau Papan. This canopy garden modeling was obtained through a survey process of the Pulau Papan area, then determining the meeting points for the mobility of residents on Pulau Pulau Papan. The public function that is formed can be utilized by the community both as a public space and a functional area that is beneficial for the residents of Pulau Papan, for example a green area containing vegetables for the residents.

A Literature Review of the Academic Study of Tourists’ Environmentally Responsible Behavior in China

Training tourists with environmentally responsible behavior is helpful to protect the environment of the tourist destination and is an important way to realize the sustainable development of the tourist destination. Therefore, it is necessary to study and understand the influencing factors and driving mechanism of tourists' environmentally responsible behavior, so as to form strategies for promoting environmentally responsible behavior and therefore provide scientific basis for management decision-making. This paper reviews the relevant research of Chinese scholars on tourists' environmental responsibility behavior, analyzes the characteristics of the literature, summarizes the research hotspots, and draws a research prospect based on the review and analysis, in order to provide reference for relevant research.

Faktor Yang Mempengaruhi Pengambilan Keputusan Wisatawan Untuk Berkunjung Ke Wisata Halal

Research aim: This research aims to study the factors that influence halal tourist visits. Design/Methode/Approach: This research uses a quantitative approach with data analysis techniques, namely structural equation modeling. Research Finding: Travel motivation, accommodation, ease of obtaining halal food and drinks, tourist attractions, destination image, sharia tourist guides, promotions, facilities, religiosity, accessibility, and safety have a significant influence on tourists' decision-making, while knowledge and electronic word of mouth do not have a significant influence on decision making. tourists' decision to visit halal tourism. Theoretical contribution/Originality: The study provides valuable insights into the dynamics of this emerging sector. It highlights the significance of factors such as religiosity, accessibility, and security in influencing tourist decisions within the halal tourism domain, thus adding to the body of knowledge concerning the behavior of Muslim travelers and the development of halal-friendly destinations. Practitioner/Policy implication: The study provides actionable insights for improving destination competitiveness, enhancing visitor experiences, and strategic marketing of halal tourism products and services. Research limitation: The research focuses on halal tourism in Kampung Daun and Eco Sunnah.

DOES ECONOMIC INDICATORS OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM PRESENT A PROMISING TREND OF RURAL DESTINATION DEVELOPMENT? ATTITUDES OF VOJVODINA RURAL RESIDENTS

To be considered sustainable, tourism in rural destinations should provide long-term economic benefits and have a push-up effect on the population’s determination to engage in sustainable tourism. Also, sustainable tourism must reduce the negative effects of business activities on the natural environment and improve the quality of life as well as the standard of living of the local population. In order to check the impact of sustainable tourism on the development of rural destinations, economic indicators of sustainability are most often used, as measurable indicators of sustainable development. In the paper, we examined the attitudes of 421 local residents using the TIAS scale, in 17 Vojvodina villages. Only those who declared that they are involved in the tourism economy were taken for further analysis. It was concluded that positive economic indicators of sustainable development are “wind in the sails” of the development of rural destinations, and that sustainable tourism is a desirable economic activity in the villages of Vojvodina to whom more and more residents are turning, especially women as of very sensitive category.

Navigating Financial Frontiers in the Tourism Economies of Kosovo and Albania during and beyond COVID-19

The problem addressed in this study is the profound impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the tourism economies of Kosovo (KOS) and Albania (AL), which led to economic–financial stagnation and price increases. The aim was to analyze the financial frontier challenges facing the tourism industry during COVID-19 and beyond and propose effective strategies for shaping a sustainable future for countries within Europe with great potential for tourism development in the current decade. The survey was conducted in 102 locations, including cities, municipalities, regions, villages, and neighborhoods in both countries over the years 2020–2023, while data analysis was performed using a cluster analysis (K-means and hierarchical) and the multidimensional scaling method (Alscal). The results highlighted (a) the severe impact of COVID-19 on both the population and businesses in the tourism sector, which will persist beyond the pandemic, (b) the indispensable role of government intervention in alleviating the financial crisis, (c) the need for innovative approaches and accurate financial management by both the country and businesses to attract tourists, and (d) the importance of control and management for financial sustainability. This paper is of significant importance to tourism destinations as it provides insights into the severe impact of COVID-19 on both the population and businesses in the tourism economies. By highlighting the indispensable role of government intervention, the need for innovative approaches and accurate financial management, and the importance of control and management for financial sustainability, the study offers valuable guidance for tourism destinations in navigating the current crisis and attracting tourists. Furthermore, the paper emphasizes the need for future studies to explore opportunities for long-term financial resilience and growth, contributing to the development of sustainable tourism destinations.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF TRADITIONAL DAYAK CULINARY HERITAGE IN ESTABLISHING DESTINATION BRAND IDENTITY FOR TOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN CENTRAL KALIMANTAN

This study aimed to examine the growth of the traditional culinary industry sector in Central Kalimantan and its relationship with tourist destinations, emphasizing its role as a branding tool that shapes the destination brand identity in Central Kalimantan. The research methodology employed was qualitative with a focused case study approach in Central Kalimantan. Data were obtained through triangulation techniques, including observation, interviews, and the analysis of documentary data, involving various informants such as officials from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, academicians, tourism destination managers, culinary entrepreneurs, tourists, and local communities. Data analysis utilized an interactive model comprising data collection, data condensation, data display, and conclusion stages. The research findings highlighted the diversity of Dayak culinary offerings in Central Kalimantan, including Juhu Umbut Rotan, Juhu Singkah Enyuh, Juhu Kujang, Chips made of Kalakai, Kalumpe, Sambal Kandas Sarai, and Kenta through the Mangenta process, demonstrating positive impacts on the development of tourist destinations. Furthermore, Dayak culinary practices were elevated as a branding element capable of shaping destination identity. The synergy between the government and local communities is vital in promoting Dayak culinary heritage to fortify destination brand identity and boost tourism allure. Through cohesive collaboration, Central Kalimantan can effectively leverage Dayak cuisine's distinctiveness to build a robust and sustainable destination brand. To maximize this potential, fostering strong synergy among the government, local communities, and culinary entrepreneurs is crucial. Proactive government engagement, sustained support for culinary entrepreneurs, organizing culinary festivals to enhance global awareness, targeted backing for enterprises like MEFs Food & Snacks, active community participation in digital marketing, and continuous research to monitor market trends are pivotal.

DEVELOPMENT AND RECOVERY MANAGEMENT OF TOURIST DESTINATIONS USING THE EXAMPLE OF KYIV CITY: OVERCOMING CONSEQUENCES OF THE NEGATIVE IMPACTS

The development of tourism at the destination level is closely linked to its attractiveness, which determines the prospects and opportunities for attracting tourist flows. New trends in the development of modern tourism as a socio-economic, cultural, and communicative institution require regional tourism entities to take appropriate practical measures. Increasing tourist flows requires the creation of an appropriate infrastructure, including the expansion of the network of accommodation facilities, the development of transport links and other services necessary to meet the needs of tourists. Political instability and the lack of a comprehensive, systematic model of tourism management have led to the decline of this sector in Ukraine. The relevance of this topic is driven by the need to develop strategies and management measures to ensure the attractiveness of urban destinations for tourists and to restore the tourism sector in line with international management models and examples of major urban tourist destinations. The main purpose of this study is to analyze the aspects of management, development, and recovery of a tourist destination on the example of Kyiv as part of Ukraine’s economic system in the context of a pandemic and war. The study uses systemic analysis, structural and functional approaches, as well as comparison methods. The study examines the problems associated with a decrease in tourist flow and loss of revenue in the tourism industry due to ineffective management of the tourist destination (pandemic and military operations in the country) and insufficiently developed infrastructure. This made it possible to formulate recommendations for solving problems, namely: improving transport infrastructure and creating and maintaining tourist infrastructure, such as hotels, restaurants and other facilities that will form an open state tourism policy. The concept of spatial-economic management and practical functionality of tourist destinations on the example of Kyiv is developed, provided that modern technologies, approaches, and methods of tourist destinations formation are used, which are components of the model of management of tourist areas development. The results of the study can be used to manage tourist destinations at the international and regional levels.

Analysis of Community-Based Tourism Potential and Management Strategies for the Destination of Community Care Tourism in Kedung Sahong Ciliwung

This research discusses the potential of community-based tourism and management strategies for the Komunitas Peduli Ciliwung Kedung Sahong (KPC Kedung Sahong) tourist destination. The destination was established during the COVID-19 pandemic and focuses on environmental conservation, community empowerment, and sustainable services to tourists. Despite achieving significant progress, challenges such as the lack of facilities and government support persist. The research aims to understand the participation of the local community in destination development, environmental sustainability, and local economic empowerment. The concept of potential for community-based tourism is applied in developing the KPC Kedung Sahong tourist destination in South Jakarta. The potential includes local resources, tourist attraction development, community participation, and sustainable improvement and development. Community-based tourism allows active participation of the local community in destination management and development. The research uses a qualitative method with a SWOT approach to evaluate destination development's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. The article discusses the implementation of Community Based Tourism (CBT) in the KPC Kedung Sahong Tourist Destination in South Jakarta, emphasizing the involvement of the local community. The research also highlights the importance of periodic evaluations to ensure the sustainability and success of the community-based tourism concept. Development Betawi Cultural Village Setu Babakan Tourist Destination Through Marketing Strategy Ass Add Value

This research focuses on the development of the Setu Babakan Betawi cultural village tourist destination through marketing strategies as an added value. The research will discuss the development opportunities of this tourist destination and highlight the approach to be taken, namely the marketing strategy to increase the added value of the destination. This research discusses the marketing strategy of artificial tourist destinations, such as the Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village Tourism Destination, is very important in the context of cultural heritage preservation and local economic development. This research can have significant positive impacts. First of all, the research can provide in-depth insights into the preferences, expectations and motivations of tourists visiting artificial tourist destinations. The object of this research is in the UN Setu Babakan in Srengseng Sawah Village. This research method uses qualitative with a SWOT analysis approach. This research aims to explore the marketing strategy of artificial tourist destinations, especially focusing on the Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village Tourism Destination. The results concluded that through the development of appropriate marketing strategies, this destination can become more attractive to various groups of visitors. The interactive experience that Setu Babakan offers through cultural, artistic, and culinary activities is its main strength

Understanding Souvenirs from a Place‐Product Perspective: Territorialization, Deterritorialization, and Reterritorialization

Souvenir production and consumption play an important role in tourism destination development. Because constructs most commonly examined until now (e.g., authenticity, production methods, and souvenir typologies) have failed to explain several paradoxes, this study examines souvenirs from a different conceptual angle: product‐place relationships based on the framework of territorialization, deterritorialization, and reterritorialization. Based upon this theoretical framework, a new typology of souvenirs was generated–localized souvenirs, generic souvenirs, and customized souvenirs–which indicate changes in souvenirs within the broader context of time and space. Also, by examining souvenirs across the spatial and temporal domains, the uneven development of souvenirs at different stages is also revealed. These may deepen and reframe our understanding of souvenirs, production methods, and authenticity, which researchers have taken for granted in previous studies.

Tourism development and ecological footprint indicators in island destinations: evidence from the members of the alliance of small island states

ABSTRACT Considering the crucial debates on sustainable development it is significant to understand the link between the development of tourism in small island countries and the ecological footprint. However, to date, little knowledge is available about the contribution of tourism to the EF of small island states. Therefore, the study aims to investigate the effects of international tourism, tourism revenues, total natural resource rents, urbanisation, energy intensity, and per capita gross domestic product (GDP) on ecological footprint among the Members of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS). The results of our study provide new empirical results on the impact of tourism, economic growth, energy intensity, natural resource rents, and urbanisation on the ecological footprint of the 7 AOSIS member countries. Cross-sectional dependency and cointegration test results are positive for the variables of interest. Our estimates based on CCEMG and AMG regressions showed which factors contribute to environmental degradation at the AOSIS and country levels.

Do destination personality and self-congruity matter for the pro-environmental behavioral intention? Nature-based pro-environmental behavior

PurposeThe study aims to draw on the self-congruity theory to investigate the relationship among destination personality (DP), self-congruity and tourists’ pro-environmental behavioral intention (BI) among Guangzhou citizens who have experienced nature-based tourism (NBT).Design/methodology/approachThe survey-based quantitative research was divided into two rounds, namely, a preliminary study exploring the dimensions of DP and the verification of whether the DP dimensions that significantly affect pro-environmental BI in step one would be selected for the main research to validate the conceptual model.FindingsThe results suggest that wholesome, one of the destination personalities, strongly predicts tourists’ pro-environmental BI, while actual self-congruity plays a mediating role between sincere, another DP, and tourists’ pro-environmental BI.Practical implicationsIn practice, it offers multidimensional knowledge and robust evidence-based recommendations for the sustainable development and destination branding of NBT destinations in the post-epidemic era.Originality/valueThe study presents pioneering work that reveals previously underestimated factors influencing pro-environmental BI.

PROGRAM PENGEMBANGAN WISATA ALAM DANAU GUMANG GANAM DI BAWAH SALURAN UDARA TEGANGAN TINGGI DI DESA OBEL-OBEL

The development of tourist destinations in Lombok is growing very quickly. The tourist attraction of Gumbang Ganang Lake Tourism Village in Obel-Obel Village is a tourist attraction with extraordinary uniqueness because right above it is the High Voltage Air Line owned by PT. PLN. Currently, data has begun to be recorded with the Pokdarwis group. There are challenges that need to be fixed, namely the problem of explaining the radiation from SUTT. If it is done correctly, nothing detrimental will happen, and waste handling is still carried out sporadically without any storage tanks. This is overcome by providing outreach and handling directly to this tourist destination. In this program, which has been implemented in a very short time, it has provided progress in knowing and being directly involved in Obel-Obel Village so that the development of tourism in the vein of SUTT right above the lake provides CSR and contribution from PT. PLN.

Perceptions and Realities of Lisbon: An Examination of the Image of a Tourist Destination

Destination image is related to comprising cognitive, emotional, and conative components and includes an individual's thoughts, ideas, and perceptions of a place. Images consistently coincide with the internalisation of distinct perspectives, demonstrating that people have different perceptions of the destiny. Influences include media, authority figures, music, and movies. Although the experience may not match their initial expectations, these effects form their preconceived beliefs and expectations of a trip. Accordingly, it is important to explore the trustfulness of the positioning of tourist destinations to ascertain its alignment with the expectations of tourists. Given that, Lisbon has been regarded as one of the foremost European cities in recent years, owing to its high level of accessibility and its multifaceted sensory attributes, it was deemed pertinent to investigate the perceptions of the visitors towards the city. The present study used a mixed methods approach, incorporating a multimedia component that showcases various locations in the Lisbon region with open-ended questionnaires to gather the perspectives of the tourists and a closed-ended questionnaire that inquiries about the primary factors that attract visitors to Lisbon. This analysis employed graphical representations, including word clouds and graphics to explore the identified impressions. The research revealed a robust association between cultural, historical, and aesthetic variables and the choice of travel destination. Certain visual representations highlight the imperative of pursuing sustainable and responsible development to mitigate the potential for enduring degradation. This holds significance as certain images are linked to instances of environmental and social irresponsibility. The study also revealed that History and Heritage emerged as the most significant factors that attract individuals, followed by Cultural Attractions, Weather and Climate, Gastronomy, and Panoramic Views and Landscapes. A notable perception exists regarding the insufficiency of sustainability and eco-friendly practices, underscoring the necessity for targeted sustainability endeavours to promote responsible and sustainable development of tourism destinations. Indeed, additional research on the contrast of perception and reality at the location is needed to evaluate the picture provided to visitors. However, understanding tourist-relevant areas like Lisbon is a good foundation for advertising them, allowing various stakeholders to make authentic and valuable marketing decisions.

Image of Gorizia’s Healthy Environment and of Gorizia as the “Austrian Nice” between Enlightenment and Nationalisms

Carl von Czörnig’s image of Gorizia and its surroundings as the “Austrian Nice” or, more precisely, his work Görz Oesterreich’s Nizza; nebst einer Darstellung des Landes Görz und Gradisca (1873–1874) contributed to the development of the climatic health resort in Gorizia. The belief in the healthy climate and clean waters of the Princely County of Gorizia and Gradisca was already present and also attracted some respectable, albeit few, visitors. The scientific basis of this belief very likely comes from the work Clima Goritiense (1781), written by Anton Muznik, chief provincial physician of the Princely County of Gorizia and Gradisca. Czörnig’s work, which connects several historiographical traditions of the wider area, belongs to the period of increasing national conflicts. In the context of Central European multi-ethnic areas of the second half of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, national relations should also be taken into consideration when researching the tourist development of a certain destination or, better yet, its stagnation.

Community Empowerment Strategy Based on Local Potential through the Seed Garden Tourism Village Program in Kediri Regency

The development of tourism destinations in Indonesia is a development that is intensively carried out by the central government and local governments. A characteristic of a tourist village has the concept of a form of integration between attractions, accommodation, and fulfillment of facilities in a community structure that is integrated with traditions and procedures that already apply. Determination of the place in the study that is using a purposive area, because the selection of the place is based on certain considerations. The technique of determining the informants in this study used snowball sampling. Data collection techniques using the method of observation, interviews and documentation. Techniques for checking the validity of the data used extended participation, persistence of observation, and triangulation. The triangulation used is technique triangulation and source triangulation. Data analysis using Miles and Huberman includes: data collection, data reduction, data presentation and data verification. The results of this study indicate that there is a community empowerment strategy carried out by residents around Jambu Village to improve the standard of living of the local community.

Comparing AlUla and The Red Sea Saudi Arabia’s Giga Projects on Tourism towards a Sustainable Change in Destination Development

This paper examines architecture for tourism, focusing on destination design. In the past forty years, tourism destinations and their impact have been affected and transformed by emerging topics such as the impact of social media and the necessity of sustainable indicators in the tourism industry. In the global panorama of ongoing tourism transformations, Saudi Arabia has recently established new governmental opening regulations that started in 2019 for visitors and tourist visa entry. The country is facing a rapidly transforming economy, and new destinations for tourism will impact the country’s growth in the coming years as part of the Sustainable Destination Program in alignment with the ambitious targets of the Saudi National Vision 2030. The adopted methodology of the study compares selected parameters of two significant Saudi Arabian case studies, AlUla and The Red Sea Project (TRSP), for the ongoing sustainable tourism destination development of planned tourist giga projects. According to the findings, AlUla and TRSP demonstrated an intense commitment to sustainable tourism through their efforts concerning protected areas, environmentally friendly transport, and significant rewilding and reforestation. The research’s conclusion emphasizes Saudi Arabia’s commitment to innovative thinking, long-term growth, and sustainable tourism. The study’s implication is primarily suited for destination design; it suggests potential applicability even in smaller-scale tourism development projects or additional comparisons in sustainability design approaches in diverse contexts, particularly in the MENA region.

Tourism destination development: the tourism area life cycle model

The tourist area life cycle has been in existence for over four decades since its publication in The Canadian Geographer and was described as ‘one of the most cited and contentious areas of tourism knowledge….(and) has gone on to become one of the best known theories of destination growth and change within the field of tourism studies’ It was noted as one ‘Of the most influential conceptual models for explaining tourist, development’. The model was developed primarily from the Product Life Cycle model used in business and management studies and modified to explain the process of development and change that took place in tourist destinations throughout the world. The model has received considerable attention over its life span, but has often been cited from second hand sources or misquoted on many occasions. Its appearance in a non-tourist journal has resulted in it often not appearing in various early literature surveys based on tourism-focused sources and for its first decade access to the original article was limited and difficult, as demonstrated by many requests to the author for copies of the article. Electronic access to journals and libraries have resolved this problem, but its considerable visibility (in excess of 56,000 reads on Research Gate) and use (close to 5000 citations) means that it has possibly entered the realm of tourism myths and become part of accepted dogma in the field of tourism development. This could present problems to those challenging the original concept and introducing alternative or contradictory ideas and propositions, and it is perhaps, appropriate to briefly review the history of the concept.

Аналіз потреби в регіональних оздоровчо-лікувальних туристичних дестинаціях для дітей

The article considers the importance and prospects for the development of medical and health tourism, taking into account the unstable geopolitical situation in the country after the fullscale invasion of Russia. Recommendations for the balanced development of health and wellness destinations are provided. The article analyses the strategies for the development of healthimproving tourist destinations for children in the Odesa region using the SWOT analysis. The demand for the provision of health and medical services for children is studied by means of a questionnaire. The study is an important component of the sustainable development of the tourism industry in the Odesa region, as well as for the state as a whole.

Perceived Value and Behavioral Intention of Chengde homestay tourists based on Cognition-Affection-Conation

Against the backdrop of the new era, changes in tourism consumption demand have led tourists to prefer diversified, autonomous, and personalized tourism products and services in the process of tourism experience. They long for in-depth experiences as well as emotional identification and communication during travel. As a new industrial form emerging in China in recent years, the homestay industry has become a major attraction for tourists because it integrates beautiful scenery, creativity, and comfort, and each establishment has its own unique characteristics. Perceived value, as a comprehensive evaluation made by tourists of the perceived benefits and losses of tourism products or services in a specific context, is a source of competitive advantage. To achieve sustainable development of tourist destinations, exploring the formation mechanism of tourists' positive behavioral intentions has become an important research topic in both academic and industrial circles. Based on the "cognition-emotion-intention" relationship theory, this article explores the relationship between perceived value, satisfaction, place attachment, and behavioral intention among Chengde homestay tourists. Using quantitative research methods, questionnaire surveys, random sampling, descriptive statistical analysis, reliability and validity analysis, variance analysis, factor analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis, 450 questionnaires collected from tourists who have experienced Chengde star-rated homestays were analyzed. The results show that the behavioral intentions of homestay tourists are directly affected by place dependence, place identity, and perceived value, while indirectly influenced by tourist satisfaction. These findings provide reference value and significance for homestay owners, management departments, investors, local residents, and homestays in other regions.
