Background: In the practice of health services, the principle of sterilization is an absolute must. Sterilization is a series of processes that aim to eliminate all forms of micro-organisms life (bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses including spores). Dental nurses are obliged to avoid or prevent cross-infection in practice by properly sterilizing dental health equipment. The dental and oral therapist's knowledge about instrument sterilization determines their compliance in implementing standard operating procedures for sterilization. The purpose of the study: to determine the relationship between the knowledge of dental and oral therapists about instrument sterilization with compliance in carrying out standard operating procedures for sterilization at the Bogor City Health Center. Methods: research with cross-sectional design, population of all dental and oral therapists at the Bogor City Health Center, sampling using purposive sampling method as many as 24 people. Research measuring tools in the form of knowledge questionnaires and checklist sheets. Data analysis using Spearman Rank test. The results: The level of knowledge of instrument sterilization in dental and oral therapists was mostly in the good category (87.5%), compliance in carrying out sterilization SOPs was mostly in the obedient category (83.3%), there was a relationship between the knowledge of dental and oral therapists about sterilization of tools with compliance in carrying out standard operating procedures for sterilization (p-value 0.013). Conclusion: There is a relationship between the knowledge of dental and oral therapists about instrument sterilization and compliance in carrying out standard operating procedures for sterilization at the Bogor City Health Center.
