The poor lithium affinity of most metal skeletons leads to uneven electric field distribution, resulting in the notorious Li dendrite growth. Herein, a 3D structured Cu mesh@Ag current collector is introduced using a simple chemical plating method to enable dendrite-free Li anode. The high electronic conductivity and matrix pore structure of Cu mesh can alleviate the local current density and provide buffer space for lithium deposition. The lithiophilic Ag can form infinite solid solution with Li while reducing the initial lithiation nucleation overpotential to about 0 V, achieving homogenous Li deposition. As a result, the symmetric cell can maintain a low polarization voltage (20 mV) after cycling at 0.5 mA cm-2 for 1300 h Full cells assembled with LiFePO4 cathode present a long-term cycling stability of 500 cycles at 1C with a capacity retention of 80.3%. This work provides a reliable approach to create stable Li-metal batteries.
