Demand of the adolescent for education in health through virtual social networks: a descriptive study

This is a dissertation project for the Academic Master in Health Care Sciences at the Fluminense Federal University. Primary Aim: To analyze the demand for education in health in virtual social networks for adolescents who live with chronic renal diseases. Specific Aims: To describe the experiences of adolescents who live with chronic renal diseases with the use of virtual social networks to acquire information related to health; to identify the demand for health education of adolescents in virtual social networks and report the effects of these demands of these adolescents on the role of the nurse. Method: This is a descriptive study, with a qualitative approach, to be performed based on semi-structured interviews with adolescents that live with chronic renal diseases and who search for information related to health in virtual social networks.

An analysis of treatment compliance and health education demand for chronic hepatitis B patients

Objective To find the of poor treatment compliance and demands for the health education to guide the health education by nursing staff and improve the treatment compliance of chronic hepatitis B patients.Methods A self-designed causes of poor treatment compliance and demands for health education of chronic hepatitis B patients questionnaire was applied to survey 76 chronic hepatitis B patients.Results Poor treatment compliance was found in middle-aged chronic hepatitis B patients. The relapse rate was 72.4％.36.8％ of the patients showed no knowledge of chronic hepatitis B.39.5％ of patients had limited knowledge and misunderstanding.42.1％ of the patients never received health education for hepatitis B and 19.7％ of the patients received incorrect education.The major cause of poor treatment compliance was majority of the patients did not aware of the goal of the treatments and the indication of drug withdrawal.46.1％ of the patients believed their poor treatment compliance resulted from the financial factor.Patients hoped to receive health education from medical staff ( 82.9％ ) and to obtain knowledge of the medicine for hepatitis B ( 75.0％ ) and wished media support for against discrimination (63.2％).Conclusions Nursing staff should educate chronic hepatitis B patients accordingly to improve the poor treatment compliance. Investigation on demands of health education on cancer patients and families in intra day ward

Objective To discuss the demands of health education on cancer patients and faimilies in intra day ward.Methods By self-designed questionnaire 105 cancer patients and their families were investigated.Results Nursing health education was comprehensively demanded by cancer patients and families in intra day ward.However, the urgent degree of each demand was different.Outside hospital emergency instruction was demanded most urgently, followed by drug adverse reaction instruction, drug usage instruction, diet instruction, rest and exercises instruction, psychological counseling.Most welcomed health education methods included special propaganda handbooks, interviews with doctors and nurses and communication with fellow patients.Conclusions Nursing health education was comprehensively and especially demanded by cancer patients and families in intra day ward.The argeted nursing health education should be adopted to enhance cancer patients'self-care ability and quality of life. Analysis of the health education demand for first treatment of elderly smear - positive tuberculosis patients

Objective To understand health education demand of elderly smear - positive tuberculosis patients. Methods This essay surveyed 120 patients diagnosed with tuberculosis in our hospital between May 2008 and May 2009. The conditions as follows:consistent with provisions of first treatment in TB study; over age of 60 years; smear - positive tuberculosis patients. The self- designed survey questionnaire was used and analyzed. Results The vast majority of TB patients was lack of relevant knowledge. They needed medical staff carrying out health education and popularized knowledge of TB. The former four of idividual health education needs were name, dosage and using method of drug; adverse reactions and side effects of chemotherapy drugs; knowledge and guide of diet and how to arrange rest and activities reasonable. Most patients (about 88.3% ) chose the oral medical missionaryConclusions This survey play a guiding role in selection health education content for elderly smear - positive tuberculosis patients. Nurses could use results of this survey to develop a focused and appropriate ordered health education programme for patients to suit their own characteristics, use right nursing interventions to improve health nursing for patient compliance and reduce its infectious to cure tuberculosis. Implementation and evaluation of group health education mode in cataract department

Objective To investigate the implementation effect of group health education mode in cataract department. Methods Through the establishment of clinical health education path and repeatedly broadcast in group health education after surgery for 1200 cases of cataract patients,effect of health education and satisfaction on surgery were assessed and surveyed. Results Knowledge of health education was known by about 88.5% of patients or their family;satisfaction with nurse care was up to 95.0%; health education time of the nurses was reduced but their work efficiency was improved. Conclusions Implementation of group health education mode and clinical health education path could satisfy patients' demands of health education in large-scale cataract surgery and ensure the quality of health education. Investigation and Analysis on the Health Education Demand in Caregivers of Senile Dementia Patients

Objective To know about the Health Education Demand in Caregivers of Senile Dementia Patients. Methods The health knowledge and demands of health education of 95 Caregivers of Senile Dementia Patients were investigated with self-designed questionnaire. Results The highest degree needs for health education content of caregivers of senile dementia Patients include basic knowledges of demendia, such as treatment, pathogeny, symptoms, and those nursing skills, such as language and how to look after senile demendia with memory barrier, drainage and sleeping abnormality etc, the most interesting health education method is docotr-nurse conversation. Among the factors of caregivers of senile dementia patients, there was a positive correlation between education level and the health education demand, and a negative correlation between the numbers of caregivers and demand, a positive correlation between the age, medication of patients and the education level of caregivers, a negative correlation between the occurrence time of dementia symptoms and the health education demand in caregivers. Conclusions In the course of providing health education for caregivers of senile dementia patients, we should not only pay attention to basic knowledges, nursing methods and skill, but also pay attention to the demands of education methods. So as to adopt some intervention measures to reduce the pressure of caretakers. Key words: Dementia; Caregivers; Health education; Demands

目的 调查初次妊娠妇女配偶对健康教育需求的方式、内容及程度.方法 采用自行设计问卷对158例初次妊娠妇女配偶进行健康教育需求调查.结果 93%以上初次妊娠妇女配偶最希望获得的知识有怎样进行胎教、该为孕妇补充哪些营养、分娩中宝宝的安全、孕妇的安全、宝宝的健康等.最愿意接受的健康教育方式有上网、与医护交谈等.结论 产前门诊护士应当根据不同需求的孕妇配偶针对性地做好健康教育工作,使其参与孕育宝宝的全过程,为孕妇的顺利分娩做好各方面的准备。

Investigation of current recognition of and demand for health knowledge by patients with chronic gastritis receiving treatment in clinics

Objective To investigate the current recognition and demand of health knowledge by patients with chronic gastritis receiving treatment in clinics, and provide a basis for offering specific instructive health education to patients. Methods Using self-designed questionnaire to investigates 420 patients with chronic gastritis concerning the recognition of heath knowledge as well as the content and the way of health education. The data were analyzed statistically. Results The recognition of health knowledge showed that 57. 1% of patients responded no, 35.5% a little, 12.9% well and 4.3% very well, respectively. 86.9% of patients considered that health education was needed urgently; but 11.0%, 1.6%, 0. 3%, of patients considered it was needed in moderate, a little, and not at all, respectively. In terms of health education way, 100% of patients hoped they could get a face-to-face individual education while more than 80% preferred telephone follow-up, periodical lecture, liked joining patient club, and wanted home visit by nurse. Conclusions Most patients had a little health knowledge of their disease, and their demand for health education was very high. Nurses should rely on their specialty to provide patients with individual and instructive ways of health education according to different requirement of patients so as to help the patients to change their had behavior for the prevention and the reduction of the recurrence and the complication of the disease. Increasing access to health education in eastern Uganda: Rethinking the role and preparation of volunteers

Objective In many parts of Uganda, the demand for health education is greater than the conventional health sector can provide and community health education volunteers fill the gap. Using two case study non government organizations (NGOs) that heavily rely on volunteers as health educators, this article shows the problems of unsystematic preparation of volunteers for their roles in health education. Design An exploratory cross-sectional design using in-depth interviews and focus group discussions was used. Setting Two case study NGOs that heavily rely on volunteers as health educators were selected in a rural district in eastern Uganda. Method Focus group discussions and observation of health education sessions were conducted, as well as in-depth interviews with volunteers and staff of the selected NGOs. Results The NGOs were enthusiastic about the role of volunteers in health education and regarded them positively. However, the process of recruitment was informal. Orientation of the volunteers was insufficient and rather unsystematic. A minimal focus was placed on methods of conducting health education during the training of the volunteers, suggesting a failure to view health education as a professional field. This left the practice of health education at the mercy of the volunteers' own less reflective self-designed pedagogical approach. Conclusion While there is a high enthusiasm for the potential role of volunteers, by both the NGOs and the community, their preparation for health education so far does not measure up to the demands of the tasks they are to perform. The limited emphasis on skills in planning, organizing and methods of health education leaves the practice of health education haphazard and indicates failure to view the area as a professional field.

Survey of demand for health education on pulmonary tuberculosis among rural middle-school students in southern Shanxi Province

目的 了解陕西南部农村初中、高中在校学生结核病知识掌握情况,为确定重点教育内容和宣教方法提供依据.方法 选取1所重点全日制中学,各年级随机抽取1个班进行问卷调查.结果 知晓率最低的问题有:直接面视下督导化疗策略内容;抗结核治疗过程中,如出现副作用不应立即停药或换药;咳嗽、咳痰或咳血、血痰持续多久应疑为肺结核等.三个误解率最高并且高于知晓率的问题是:学生是结核病的高危人群;抗结核治疗过程中出现副作用不可停药;肺结核的最短疗程.23项结核病相关知识得分,不同年级之间差异有统计学意义.结论 农村中学生结核相关知识知晓率较低.应切实加强学校健康教育,普及结核病知识,提高学生知晓率。

Research of schizophrenia inpatient health education demand

Objective To investigate different demands of schizophrenia inpatients on the content of health education, in order to make preparation for patterned health education.Methods 88 schizophrenia inpatients were evaluated and investigated using health education inquiry scales designed by us in Beijing Huilongguan Hospital.Results Mentioned rate of 97% health education items were above 50% in 88schizophrenia inpatients.Demands of 15 items in 5 aspects were significant different (P ＜0.05 ) between first-hospitalized and multiple-hospitalized schizophrenia inpatients.Demand of 28 items in 4 aspects were significant different (P＜0.05) between male and female schizophrenia inpatients.However, the influence of educational grade was not significant in health education demands.Conclusions Schizophrenia inpatients have intensive demands on knowledge of mental disease and self-nursing; demands of multiple-hospitalized schizophrenia patients were stronger than the first-hospitalized patients; demands on health education have gender differences;and educational degree of patients effects the tendency of health educational demand. A Study of Spousal Support, the Demand for Health Education, and Quality of Life for Married Female Immigrants

【Purpose: The purpose of this study was to understand spousal support, demand for health education, and quality of life for married female immigrants. Methods: A total of 120 subjects with adequate communication skills participated in this study from March 1, 2006 until January 30, 2007. Participants were female visitors at the Immigrant Consultation Center in M City, Y County and M County in South Jeolla Province. The questionnaire used in this study consisted of a total of 42 items. Data were analyzed using SPSS/win 10.2 to describe subjects' characteristics by frequency, and descriptive statistics, and to test group differences by t-test and ANOVA. Results: The highest demand for health education was exercise, and followed by stress management and diet. The level of spousal support for subjects was below average, and the level of quality of life was above the medium. The most difficult thing in their life was the difficulty in language. There was a significant difference in quality of life by level of education, level of life satisfaction, number of childbirths, and age. There was also a significant difference in spousal support by level of life satisfaction. Conclusion: There is a need for a multidimensional strategy to improve the quality of life and spousal support for immigrant females in international marriages.】

Investigation on health education demands of diabetic retinopathy patients and countermeasures

目的 通过对糖尿病(DM)患者进行眼科健康教育的需求调查,制定护理对策,使糖尿病视网膜病变(DR)患者做到早诊断、早治疗,以保留健康的视力.方法 对175例DR患者进行健康教育内容及需求调查,制定相应护理对策.结果 175例DR患者中63例(36%)患者掌握有关DR的知识,接受过健康教育的患者视力明显好于未接受健康教育者.结论 必要的DM教育,使患者正确认识DM,大力培养专科护士是减少DR发病的有力护理措施。

Investigation on health education demands of patients with laryngeal cancer

目的 了解喉癌患者对健康教育的需求并分析其原因.方法 采用自行设计的调查表对105例喉癌患者入院时、围手术期、出院前健康教育需求情况进行调查.结果 喉癌患者在入院时最希望了解自己目前病情及其治疗方案;围手术期时患者最关心的是:由自己决定是否手术,在术后能及时咨询和得到医护人员的指导;出院前费用情况及各项收费标准;患者出院后日常护理的健康需求具有多样性.结论 现有的健康教育模式需要不断改进,才能满足不同患者的健康需要。

Demands for Health Education through Internet in Middle and High School Students

Background: It is important to provide health education to students to ensure a healthy life. Using the internet for health education may be a way to overcome the practical barriers to health education such as time and content. This study was conducted to investigate the demands for health education using the internet. Subjects and methods: Six hundreds and twenty-four and male female students in middle and high schools, who lived on Gyeongju-si and Seongju-gun in Gyeongsangbuk-do province, were interviewed by means of structured questionnaires, from March 5 to March 28, 2003. Results: More than 90% of the subjects had their own computers, and nearly 38% of those possessing their own computers had accessed internet sites related to health and medicine. Middle school students and in particular, female students were more desirous for health education through e-mail. Regarding content, the three major topics which the respondents wanted to learn about were healthy lifestyles, growth and development, and disease prevention. In terms of the interval for providing educational materials, over half of the students wanted information once a week. Most of the students wanted to have the quantity of the material be one page. In addition, there were numerous additional topics requested by the students such as sleep and health, contraception and family planning, safety education, cancer prevention, emotional instability of juveniles, the utilization of medical care facilities, stress management, etc. Conclusion: The students had a desire for health education through the use of e-mail, and methods and materials should be developed for appropriate health education using the internet.

Management of the Danish Programme on Prevention and Control of HIV and AIDS

After a brief description of the major Danish political discussions on the AIDS problem, the basic steps in setting up a major informational activity as the AIDS campaign are described. A number of positive and negative lessons have been learned, which can be used in health education and health promotion in general. The most important are: It is possible to achieve changes in awareness, knowledge and attitudes by adopting the methods of modern marketing to the special needs and demands of health education and health promotion. Behavioural changes can be achieved by supplementary activities with a direct approach and dialogue. However, it is a long and difficult process and continuous and consistent plans including resource allocation for at least two to three years have to be made ‐ and kept to. Close co‐operation between central and local initiatives is necessary and sufficient attention should be given to establishing and securing the organisation, the co‐operative network, the distribution of material etc. Certain groups of health personnel, the press and local personalities are crucial to the effect of the campaign. Special information and motivation of these groups early in the programme is necessary. Finally attention should be paid to the prevention of general problems in health education and health promotion: the short attention span of the public, together with the fact that long lasting results do not occur for years, so that the need to continue the effort seems to disappear ‐ as do the resources.
