Analysis of the Impact of Employee Workplace Loneliness on Corporate ESG

In contemporary society, with the transformation of the economy, the theory of sustainable development has been fully integrated into China's current development model. In addition, investors also consider the positive impact of a company on society and its good management as important criteria for measuring investment before making decisions. The impact of workplace loneliness among important participants and employees in homework companies can also affect investors' decision-making and judgment. This article analyzes and evaluates the impact of different directions on employee workplace loneliness by reviewing relevant research results. The research results show that employee workplace loneliness is related to S and G in the company's ESG evaluation report. Therefore, companies and their leaders should pay attention to the emotions and needs of individual employees in order to promote the sustainable and healthy development of the enterprise. This study has important reference value for the impact of individual differences among employees and workplace loneliness on the development of enterprises.

Examining the fidelity of implementation of SKIP Cymru (Successful kinaesthetic instruction for pre-schoolers- Wales) by early childhood teachers in Wales following a programme of professional development

ABSTRACT Purpose Early childhood is a crucial time to develop fundamental motor skills (FMS) such as throwing, running and kicking (Goodway, J. D., J. C. Ozmun, and D. L. Gallahue. 2019. Understanding Motor Development: Infants, Children, Adolescents, Adults. Jones & Bartlett Learning.). Existing research into the play-based early childhood curricular in Wales found that children were not making progress in learning object control skills (Wainwright, N., J. Goodway, M. Whitehead, A. Williams, and D. Kirk. 2018. “Laying the Foundations for Physical Literacy in Wales: The Contribution of the Foundation Phase to the Development of Physical Literacy.” Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy 23 (4): 431–444. https://doi.org/10.1080/17408989.2018.1455819.). This was a concern as object control skill competency is critical to physical activity later in childhood and adolescence (Barnett, L. M., E. Van Beurden, P. J. Morgan, L. O. Brooks, and J. R. Beard. 2009. “Childhood Motor Skill Proficiency as a Predictor of Adolescent Physical Activity.” Journal of Adolescent Health 44 (3): 252–259. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jadohealth.2008.07.004.). Therefore, SKIP (Successful Kinaesthetic Instruction for Pre-schoolers) – Cymru (Welsh word for Wales), a programme of professional development was developed based on the evidence-based work of SKIP by Goodway and colleagues (Goodway, J. D., J. C. Ozmun, and D. L. Gallahue. 2019. Understanding Motor Development: Infants, Children, Adolescents, Adults. Jones & Bartlett Learning.) to address the gaps in teacher knowledge. A limitation of previous SKIP and motor development literature is the lack of evaluation of the teacher’s fidelity to implementation. Ensuring fidelity of implementation (FoI) is a critical indicator of quality intervention programmes. Thus, this study examined the extent to which teachers could implement a 10-week SKIP-Cymru programme with fidelity with ongoing mentoring following a programme of professional development. Method Participants: Early childhood teachers (N = 5), with no prior experience of SKIP Cymru, from 4 Welsh schools took part in the study. Mentors (N = 2) supported the teacher’s implementation of SKIP Cymru following the one-day professional development workshop. Quantitative data were collected using fidelity checklists for both the Teacher Workshop and the implementation of SKIP Cymru. Descriptive statistics of fidelity data were calculated. Results The results for the Teacher Workshop found that 100% of the content was delivered in relation to the Core Instructional Principles, Practices and Expectations of the SKIP-Cymru, and teachers learned the key outcomes. The average teacher fidelity for implementation of SKIP Cymru was 67.80% (ranging between 39% and 89%). On average the teachers delivered 16.4 out of the 20 lessons. The mentors supported the teachers for an average of 7.4 lessons out of the 10 lessons. Conclusion This study demonstrates that it is possible to train teachers to deliver a developmentally appropriate motor skills programme. Nevertheless, it was evident from the inconsistencies in implementation that teachers needed more in-depth knowledge, and specifically a lot more time to develop the pedagogical and instructional skills needed to optimize the impacts of SKIP Cymru on children. It is recommended that the current model of professional development needs to be re-evaluated, with consideration being given to either more in-depth training for mentors or more in-depth accredited training for the teachers that would negate the need for mentoring and have a bigger impact on the teacher’s pedagogy and delivery.

Regional carbon inequality prediction in China based on shared socioeconomic pathways: A human well-being equity perspective

Carbon inequality is strongly related to economic development and human well-being (HWB) improvements. However, relatively little research has been undertaken to predict future interregional carbon inequality in China from an HWB equity perspective based on scenarios combining shared socioeconomic pathways (SSPs) and carbon reduction policies. The biproportional scaling method named after economist Richard Stone (RAS) was used to predict China's 2020 to 2050 multiregional input–output (MRIO) tables. Then, these MRIO tables were used to simulate future net carbon emissions (NCEs) and net human well-being (NWB) transfers under the SSP1–1.5 °C, SSP1-NEU, SSP2-2 °C and SSP5-BAU scenarios. China's interregional carbon inequality was predicted under different scenarios to clarify the ideal path for mitigating carbon inequality. In the SSP1–1.5 °C, SSP1-NEU, SSP2-2 °C and SSP5-BAU scenarios, the total carbon emissions (CEs) clearly decrease, whereas the total HWB clearly increases. Transfers of NCEs between regions increases, and transfers of NWB between regions decreases in each of the four scenarios. According to the mean regional environmental inequality (REI) value, China's interregional carbon inequality is relatively low under the SSP1–1.5 °C and SSP1-NEU scenarios and relatively high under the SSP2–2 °C and SSP5-BAU scenarios. Mitigating interregional carbon inequality is a long-term and arduous task that requires commitments from governments, businesses and society. These findings clarify the optimal path for China to reduce carbon inequality in the future and provide a theoretical basis for government agencies to rationally adjust the current development model. Furthermore, they provide a supportive reference to help other economies achieve equitable and sustainable development.

Global Governance and Sustainable Development: Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic

This manuscript explores the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on global governance, highlighting the significant weaknesses in both democratic and authoritarian regimes. The crisis exacerbated social inequalities and exposed the limitations of the current capitalist development model. Democratic countries faced challenges in balancing public health measures with individual freedoms, while authoritarian regimes used the crisis to consolidate power. The pandemic also intensified discrimination against minority groups and widened wealth disparities. This commentary advocates for a shift towards a sustainable development model that prioritizes social equity and environmental sustainability, addressing the ecological impact of current consumption patterns and the necessity for systemic change.

Navigating the Uncertain Terrain: Venezuela’s Future Using the Shared Socioeconomic Pathways Framework—A Systematic Review

We investigate Venezuela’s potential “futures” under Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs) through a systematic literature review, including systematic mapping and thematic analysis of 50 scientific articles. We categorised the SSP scenarios into two generational categories and classified the outcomes into positive, negative, and neutral futures. Under first-generation SSP scenarios, increasing poverty could be reversed, and the country’s economic growth could be stimulated by adopting unambitious climate measures. However, second-generation SSP scenarios paint a more challenging picture. They suggest that Venezuela could face heat waves, droughts, an increase in diseases, loss of biodiversity, and an increase in invasive species and pests during the remainder of the 21st century as a direct consequence of climate change. Venezuela’s geographic and topographic diversity could exacerbate these impacts of climate change. For instance, coastal areas could be at risk of sea-level rise and increased storm surges, while mountainous regions could experience more frequent and intense rainfall, leading to landslides and flash floods. The urgency of conducting additional research on the factors that could influence the severity of climate change’s impact, considering Venezuela’s geographic and topographic diversity, cannot be overstated. We also identified the critical need to explore alternative paths to move away from the current extractive development model. The potential actions in this regard could be instrumental in aligning the country with global adaptation and mitigation commitments.

CAN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ACCELERATE THE TRANSITION TO A CIRCULAR ECONOMY?

The world’s current model of economic development is unsustainable. It promotes the inappropriate use of limited natural resources, encourages consumption and waste, causing serious damage to the environment and generating large amounts of waste. The circular economy, an economic model in which resources are recycled and reused as much as possible by following a circular path rather than a linear path during consumption, has been gaining popularity around the world in recent years. Artificial intelligence (AI), one of the most important developments of our time, can also play an important role in the realisation of the circular economy. AI can complement and extend the skills of humans. It helps people learn faster, deal with complexities more effectively, and better understand the abundance of data. AI can facilitate new circular business models within the circular economy and help design sustainable and robust products. The aim of this study is to seek answers to questions such as how artificial intelligence contributes to the transition to a circular economy and whether artificial intelligence can accelerate the transition to a circular economy. While seeking answers to these questions, we argue that artificial intelligence has significant potential in the transition to a circular economy and will play an important role in this transition.

Towards achieving status of green economy in OECD countries: Articulating the role of nuclear energy, greenfield investment and environmental taxation

In today's era, the green economy has become the central focus worldwide, along with the clean energy transition. Unfortunately, the current economic development model flourishes at the expense of the natural environment and ecosystems. Thereby, the concept of green economy gets immense attention among scholars and policy analyst. Most countries are dependent on energy import due to limited and unsustainable natural resource use. In this context, environmental taxation can play a key role in restricting the unsustainable use of natural resources, and nuclear energy can reduce energy import dependency, helping to shift from conventional growth to green economic growth. In this context, this study is an attempt to explore the relationship between nuclear energy, environmental taxation, greenfield investment, and the green economy in a panel of 16 Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) economies from 2000 to 2019. To get empirical estimate the study relies on Method of Moment Quantile Regression (MM-QR) approach. Interestingly, this study found that nuclear energy development discourages green economic growth across all quantiles in OECD countries. Furthermore, the study found that environmental taxation helps OECD countries achieve green economy status. Greenfield investments are another factor promotes the green economy. Climate policy measures are suggested in line with increasing share of nuclear energy in energy mix through greenfield investment in energy sector.

Temporal Course of Interference Control from Early to Late Young Adulthood: An ERP Study.

In the present study, we aimed to investigate the neural dynamics of interference control using event-related potentials (ERPs) to reveal time course of interference control from the beginning to the end of young adulthood. Three groups of participants aged 19-21, 23-27 and 28-44 performed a Stroop task. The results revealed age differences in both accuracy and ERP amplitudes during all aspects of interreference control processing that reflect selective attention (P2), conflict monitoring (N2), conflict evaluation (P3) and interference control (N450). Both younger groups made more errors on incongruent trials compared to participants in their early 30s. The presence of higher P2 and N2 amplitudes, diminished P3 and again higher N450 amplitudes in participants in their early 20s points to a shortage of available resources for top-down control at this age. These results are in accordance with structural and functional studies that show that development of the frontoparietal network, which underlies interference control, continues after adolescence. While brain mechanisms are still developing, the use of accompanying cognitive abilities is still not optimal. The findings that change in neural dynamics and related performance continues into early adulthood challenge current models of cognitive development and call for new directions in developmental theorizing.

The Impact of the Industrial Internet on the Innovation and Development Level of China’s Manufacturing Industry: Under the Perspective of Government Incentives

In the era of the digital economy, it has become an inevitable trend for manufacturing enterprises to establish industrial Internet platforms toward achieving transformation and innovative development. However, the current development model of industrial Internet platforms is still imperfect, wherein the application scenario is complex, the investment cost is too high, the return-on-investment cycle is too long, and other factors have hindered the willingness of manufacturing enterprises to employ cloud services and capital investment. For this reason, governments have introduced a series of relevant incentive policies to promote the development of industrial Internet platforms and the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing enterprises. Considering the role of government incentives, this study first constructs an evolutionary game model with local governments, manufacturing enterprises, and industrial Internet platforms as the main players. Then, the dynamic change process of each game player’s strategy choice and the stable state of the system evolution under multiple scenarios are analyzed, and the validity of the conclusions is verified through a numerical simulation analysis. Finally, the statistical data of 28 provinces in China from 2018 to 2020 are used to conduct an empirical test to explore the impact of the industrial Internet on the transformation and innovation development of the manufacturing industry and the role of government incentives. The results show that the development of the industrial Internet has a significant role in promoting the innovation and development of the manufacturing industry; government incentives can promote the innovation and development of the industrial Internet and manufacturing industry, but incentives should not be too generous; and the impact of developing the industrial Internet on the level of innovation input/output of the manufacturing industry shows obvious regional differences. This study takes the local government as an independent game participant into consideration, which enriches the research field of combining evolutionary game theory with the transformation and innovative development of the manufacturing industry. In addition, this study provides theoretical guidance and practical references for the government to formulate incentive policies to promote the development of industrial Internet platforms and for manufacturing enterprises to utilize these platforms to carry out innovation and perform upgrades.

“They Are Taking the Sea from us” - Maritime Extractivism, Dispossession and Resistance in Rural and Ethnic Communities of the Colombian Caribbean

This article provides an overview of the impacts of the current Colombian extractivist development model on peasant, Afro-descendant, and Indigenous communities’ territorial seas ( maritorium) in the Colombian Caribbean. We reflect on the implications of a gradual penetration of concepts such as the blue economy in national public policy. The impacts of activities such as port infrastructure, oil drilling and mining, tourism and industrial fishing, are briefly analyzed, using examples gathered in different parts of the region where growing dispossession is evident. The article ends with a reflection on the various forms of resistance employed by these communities today to confront the plundering of their living spaces associated with coastlines and the sea.

Weaving Futures: Enhancing Learning and Innovation Capabilities of Rural Women in the MSME Textile Sector

Purpose: Industrialization has led to centralized development, urbanization, migration and concentration of people in selected areas, that is, cities. The current model of development is not a sustainable one. While progress has been made through this model, it has also increased social inequalities, damaged health and caused irreversible depletion of the natural environment. The need of the hour is to create a new model of development to achieve sustainable development across rural and semi-urban regions. Objective: The objective of the new development model is to find out the relation between learning and innovation capability on the customer-based performance of a textile-based micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME). The research questions that will be answered are how rural women working in textile MSMEs can improve their learning and innovation capabilities? What is the impact of learning and innovation capabilities on the customer-based performance of the MSMEs? Methodology: The research method used for this study was based on primary data collected from the stakeholders of rural textile-based MSMEs and secondary data. Findings and Suggestions: The paper suggests that localized micro-factories enable people to stay close to their roots. The need of the hour is to train people with the required skill sets. The learning and innovation capability of the MSMEs reflects on their customer-based performance. The implementation of advanced technology will make localized micro-factories profitable. These technologies will provide services to citizens efficiently and equitably. The proposed smart cities will have to create more equitable and symbiotic relationships with the surrounding semi-urban and rural areas. The emphasis should be on learning new techniques of production using locally available resources. Once the new techniques have been learned, the company should be able to implement them innovatively to improve its customer experience.

Balancing Forest Tourism and Environmental Protection

In light of escalating global environmental issues, balancing forest tourism development with effective environmental protection has become a critical academic and practical concern. This study investigates the equilibrium mechanisms between forest tourism and environmental protection, focusing on policy regulation, community involvement, and ecological compensation under globalization. Employing a literature review and theoretical analysis, the study systematically reviews relevant research and introduces a new theoretical framework to elucidate the interaction between tourism development and environmental sustainability. The research identifies the negative impacts of forest tourism on the environment and the shortcomings of current development models. It then explores sustainable principles to optimize forest tourism planning and management, aiming to promote economic growth while protecting forest ecosystems. Results indicate that achieving this balance requires sound planning, policy support, and heightened public environmental awareness and participation. The study ultimately proposes a theoretical model for "eco-friendly" forest tourism, offering insights for future policy and management practices.

Real-time word recognition in heritage speakers: Evidence from the visual world paradigm

Up to 20% of children in the US come from multilingual households (Census, 2019). However, current language development models are still mostly based on monolingual input. Heritage speaker (HS) children pose a challenge for current understandings of monolingual language development because their first language (the heritage language, HL) becomes their less dominant language as they age (often when schooling begins), and their second language (the majority language, ML) eventually becomes dominant, despite a delayed start. Here, lexical processing—a key hub in the language system—is targeted as a model system in which to ask how HSs become more automatic language processors in the ML. To do so, the proposed study focuses on spoken word recognition, which is a critical bottleneck in early language development, as the ability to efficiently recognize continuous speech paves the way for higher level language abilities. Successful recognition requires listeners to suppress competitors, such that only the target word remains. We present eye-tracking data from school-aged HSs who have become more dominant in English (n = 30). Our findings show that HSs, despite a delayed start in English, reach target words efficiently. We discuss the strategies employed by HS children to resolve competition in their ML.

A practical tool to enable Indigenous enterprise planning and development grounded in culture

Globally, Indigenous people seek to develop sustainable livelihood options that enable them to practice their culture, look after their traditional estates and generate economic development outcomes for their wider community. Enterprise development can and may provide one such pathway. However, challenges can arise with regard to reconciling the core drivers of ‘economic development’ with aspirations to practice and preserve culture. Current enterprise development approaches and models do not always suit Indigenous contexts. In this paper, we present a practical tool to enable Indigenous leaders, their partners, and others, to consider enterprise development options grounded in culture that may generate multiple benefits including economic outcomes. Our tool combines critical review of alternative development models, with empirical research to outline a set of foundational principles, building blocks and potential enterprise development options. We apply the practical tool to a case study of a nascent enterprise from the northern Australia Indigenous-led bush products sector. The case study illustrates how enterprise development planning is integral and discussions should consider how to enable cultural governance, protection of Indigenous cultural and intellectual property, potential benefits and sharing, access to resources, as well as the ‘building blocks’ for enterprise development and consideration of different enterprise approaches. The practical tool aims to ensure development pathways build on local economies and ecologies, do not compromise culture and recognise the influence of extra-local political economies on lived experiences and outcomes.

An advanced hybrid deep learning model for predicting total dissolved solids and electrical conductivity (EC) in coastal aquifers

For more than one billion people living in coastal regions, coastal aquifers provide a water resource. In coastal regions, monitoring water quality is an important issue for policymakers. Many studies mentioned that most of the conventional models were not accurate for predicting total dissolved solids (TDS) and electrical conductivity (EC) in coastal aquifers. Therefore, it is crucial to develop an accurate model for forecasting TDS and EC as two main parameters for water quality. Hence, in this study, a new hybrid deep learning model is presented based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNE), Long Short-Term Memory Neural Networks (LOST), and Gaussian Process Regression (GPRE) models. The objective of this study will contribute to the sustainable development goal (SDG) 6 of the united nation program which aims to guarantee universal access to clean water and proper sanitation. The new model can obtain point and interval predictions simultaneously. Additionally, features of data points can be extracted automatically. In the first step, the CNNE model automatically extracted features. Afterward, the outputs of CNNE were flattened. The LOST used flattened arrays for the point prediction. Finally, the outputs of the GPRE model receives the outputs of the LOST model to obtain the interval prediction. The model parameters were adjusted using the rat swarm optimization algorithm (ROSA). This study used PH, Ca + + , Mg2 + , Na + , K + , HCO3, SO4, and Cl− to predict EC and TDS in a coastal aquifer. For predicting EC, the CNNE-LOST-GPRE, LOST-GPRE, CNNE-GPRE, CNNE-LOST, LOST, and CNNE models achieved NSE values of 0.96, 0.95, 0.92, 0.91, 0.90, and 0.87, respectively. Sodium adsorption ratio, EC, magnesium hazard ratio, sodium percentage, and total hardness indices were used to evaluate the quality of GWL. These indices indicated poor groundwater quality in the aquifer. This study shows that the CNNE-LOST-GPRE is a reliable model for predicting complex phenomena. Therefore, the current developed hybrid model could be used by private and public water sectors for predicting TDS and EC for enhancing water quality in coastal aquifers.

Main results of the 20-year innovative development of the Russian regions

The key objective of the study is a retrospective statistical indicators’ analysis of innovative development of Russian regions over the past decades. As part of the search for solutions to overcome the “technological impasse” and to reduce dependence on foreign technologies and raw materials export orientation, it is advisable to rely on the implementation of the innovative potential of all regions of the country due to the limited technological and scientific capabilities of individual existing leading regions. It is necessary to accelerate the transition from the current export-raw materials model of economic development to resource-innovative, assuming harmonious development, considering the innovative potential realization of the entire country territory. To fulfill the tasks set in the study, an assessment of innovative progress in Russia on a territorial basis using mathematical and statistical methods was carried out. In the course of the work, it was found that among the regions of the country there is a high degree of difference in the level of innovative financing and, as a consequence, in the pace of innovative development. There are several main leaders on which the main scientific activity and the production of high-tech products are based. Most of the regions show a significant lag, which is primarily due to the high concentration of innovation activity in only a few key points of the country.

Dynamic Successive Assessment of Water Resource Carrying Capacity Based on System Dynamics Model and Variable Fuzzy Pattern Recognition Method

The water resource carrying capacity (WRCC) system comprises multiple complex and non-linear interactions related to society, economy, water resources, and the water environment. A comprehensive comprehension of its internal mechanisms is essential for the continual enhancement of the regional WRCC. This study concentrates on the temporal and spatial variability of the WRCC to investigate a method for dynamic successive assessment. Firstly, the pressure–state–response (PSR) framework is used to develop a systematic and causal indicator system. Then, the variable fuzzy pattern recognition (VFPR) model and an analytic hierarchy process—entropy (AHP-E) model are combined to successively and dynamically assess WRCC. The proposed method is applied to the dynamic successive assessment of WRCC in Hebei Province, and it is obtained that the poor water resource carrying capacity in Hebei Province is mainly due to the basic attribute of the decision on the water resource shortage, but Hebei Province actively adopts a variety of measures to save water and pressurize mining, which has made the province’s water resource carrying capacity tend to become better gradually. Simultaneously, a system dynamics model (SD) for water resource carrying capacity was established based on an analysis of the model structure. Moreover, three scenarios were designed, including existing continuation, high-efficiency water saving, and cross-regional water transfer. Subsequently, each scenario is further categorized into high- and low-speed economic development and population growth schemes. Afterward, simulations and predictions were conducted for a total of six schemes spanning from 2023 to 2030. The results indicate that if the current development model is adopted, the water resource carrying capacity will continue to maintain low levels. It was concluded that the high-speed development of the economy and population, the efficient water conservation, and the interbasin transfer scenario (scenario 2 with high speed) are the best choices for the sustainable development of water resources and social economy in Hebei.

The current development model's accumulation logic has resulted in the emergence and consolidation of social processes like segregation, leading to differentiated access and availability of urban goods and services among social groups based on socioeconomic, ethnic, or societal standing. This disparity impacts employment levels, educational performance, urban decay, and environmental degradation. In this context, the article aims to examine the socio-spatial segregation in the access to socio-environmental amenities provided by public green spaces (EVP) in a medium-sized city, specifically Durango, Mexico. The analysis utilizes spatial analysis and statistical methods that involve five variables associated with EVPs: surface area, percentage, number, density, and the socioeconomic level of the population. A spatial pattern of segregation was identified through these variables, resulting in four clusters that impact how the city of Durango is inhabited, produced, reproduced, lived, and constructed.
