Preschooler recreational toy car form variable design

The core concept of the paper is to make the product more entertaining and applicable by changing the shape of the toy car. It also gives children a sense of novelty when using the product, making it more valuable and more usable for children. Based on the current market of children's toy cars, the concept of the multifunctional children's car is combined and transformed into a new solution, which will result in an innovative and highly utilised multifunctional children's car. The concept is based on the premise of safety, enhancing the design of the product while meeting the needs of children's curiosity and novelty, and designing a product that meets the expectations of pre-school children. The subsequent design not only shows the multifunctional aspect of the toy car for children, but also the innovative ways in which it can be transformed, allowing the buyer to see more possibilities, stimulating interest in children's products and inspiring a sense of childhood.

Support Children to Develop Desire in Science, Technical and Technology Education: The Case of Kinondoni Pre-Primary Classroom, Tanzania

Recent studies have shown that science, technical and technological fields are underrepresented academically and professionally from school to university level. The interests in learning such fields can be traced back from early childhood education to higher learning levels. Recent studies have shown that science, technical and technological fields are underrepresented academically and professionally from school to university level. The interests in learning such fields can be traced back from early childhood education to higher learning levels. Studies revealed that teaching and learning materials either guided or free when integrated into children's games and plays become valuable resources that create desires int learning these subjects. This study therefore, explored on the supportive teaching and learning materials employed by teachers and parents in children's game and plays to build their desire and interests of learning the subjects. The study was conducted in Kinondoni district, Tanzania. The study employed a mixed method approach based on descriptive survey design. The study collected data from 230 participants in 20 pre-primary classes. Purposive sampling was for teachers and parents. Random stratifies sampling technique adopted to get pre-primary classes. Findings revealed that children curiosity and interest in learning science, technical and technological elements are impacted by improper and inadequate supportive learning materials. Also, types of plays and games engaged in, classroom environment, parent's participation in children plays and communication done to children. Majority 20 (100%) teacher were employing certain common games and plays those bored children. Many 16 (80%) teachers do not implement recommended supportive materials effectively. The study concluded that supported children demonstrate curiosity and interest which build foundation for future professionals, expertise and specialists. The study recommends for positive support to children's ideas, natural curiosity and perspectives to enhance their interest in learning science, technical and technology aspects.

Youth Perceptions of Sex Education at The University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta

Adolescence is a period of transition from childhood to adulthood during which one undergoes psychological, cognitive, and sexual changes. Indonesian youth still lack knowledge about sexuality and reproductive health, because it is still considered taboo to convey information about it. This study aims to determine the perception of adolescents about sex education at the University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta. The factors studied were knowledge and perception. This research activity was carried out in June-July 2021. This research is qualitative research and the main informants of this research are 4 students of the Faculty of Public Health, University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta, who are not married, with 2 people each from semester 4 and semester 6. The research used a phenomenological qualitative method with data analysis based on content analysis and synthesis tables. Validation of this research data using triangulation of sources and observation of secondary data. Although the informants considered there was a controversy that sex education could protect negative things, it could also increase children's curiosity towards negative things. However, all informants considered sex education very important. Informants still view the goals of sex education as normative, according to the perception of adolescent students from the Faculty of the Public Health University of Muhammadiyah Jakarta, that the current environment directs people or teenagers to have free sex

PENINGKATAN KOMPETENSI GURU PAUD DALAM MELAKSANAKAN PEMBELAJARAN BERBASIS KONSEP MERDEKA BERMAIN DI KECAMATAN MARO SEBO ULU KABUPATEN BATANGHARI

The concept of 'Merdeka bermain' has revolutionized the role of educators, shifting them from the traditional center of learning to facilitators of play-based learning. It emphasizes the pivotal role of play environments in nurturing children's curiosity and engagement. In this framework, preschool (PAUD) teachers function primarily as motivators and facilitators, creating rich and enticing play environments that encourage exploration. To enhance PAUD teachers' competency in 'merdeka bermain,' a service initiative was initiated. It aimed at achieving three key objectives: 1) Enhancing PAUD teachers' comprehension of 'merdeka bermain' and the eight essential indicators in early childhood education. 2) Developing their capacity as motivators and facilitators in the learning process. 3) Strengthening their ability to implement free play-based learning by harnessing local resources. The service activities employed training, technical guidance, and mentoring. Outcomes included improved understanding of 'merdeka bermain,' enhanced motivational and facilitation skills, and a better grasp of incorporating local resources into play-based learning. Constraints included time and funding limitations. Future efforts aim to provide further support to PAUD teachers in Maro Sebo Ulu Sub-district, promoting comprehensive implementation of the eight key indicators, creative game design, optimal utilization of the environment as a learning resource, and precision in assessment.

Fostering Epistemic Curiosity in School Children by Instructional Teaching Design: Classroom Realities of Indian Schools

The study attempted to answer two basic questions of classroom teaching: a. what were the most common teaching practices at the elementary school level? And b. did teachers foster curiosity in children during teaching? Classroom proceedings enfolded various teaching activities that might lead to a knowledge gap in students. 137 primary and middle schools (altogether 411 classes) were randomly selected to measure a pattern of questioning and answering during classroom teaching. Findings revealed that a large number of teachers adopted lecturing followed by writing on the board, dictating, and ignored some important teaching techniques such as explaining, demonstrating, and experimentation; though they were familiar with all these. Hardly any student asked questions to the teachers. Teachers missed to generate a gap of knowledge in them, showing hardly any use of curiosity-led instructional teaching design. Throwing any question to class or a group of students was an unplanned teaching behaviour. It was a limitation of an in-built education system that prioritised rote learning, exam scores, and grades that measured more static knowledge rather than understanding knowledge. The findings discussed limitations of the in-built education system and mindset of teachers that discouraged epistemic curiosity in children.

Elementary school children's curiosity about smartphones can be very beneficial if used properly for elementary school children themselves and their parents. The purpose of this writing is to help introduce elementary school children who are starting to study Natural Sciences lessons on various measuring instruments in three dimensions. For the development of this research system using the SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) waterfall model. This model has a system development flow consisting of analysis, design, implementation, testing, and management stages. Application testing uses two tests, namely alpha testing and beta testing. Based on the results of the alpha test, it can be concluded that making an Android-based augmented reality application can increase knowledge, interest in learning and have an attractive appearance for elementary school students.

Educators who creatively very influential towards the participants of his protégé. In addition, the factors that support the creativity of art comes from the support of parents as well as adequate infrastructure and facilities. While the factors that inhibit the creativity of art located on educators or parents who break the idea put forth child, competition between the child, the limitation on the child's curiosity, many educators forbid children, as well as parenting parents too keep an eye on the child.

Materials usually employed in the production of teaching apparatus and learning include, plastic, Wood, paper, leather etc. These materials may be too heavy as found in Wood, easily perishable as in paper, dangerous in plastic. Clay in terms of properties and suitable to children learning is versatile, durable and can be painted in different colors to attract children at primary school stage. Since clay is light, easily manipulated its usage in making teaching apparatus will help reduce weight, promote durability of teaching and learning materials, and also reduce the high cost of imported materials such as charts, plastic and electronically operated teaching and learning apparatus for pre-school education. The researcher employed the use of product development using descriptive and experimental methods. Clay was identified to be a convenient material for making teaching apparatus for primary school education since it has been found to be readily –accessible easily manipulated, remarkably light. The researcher recommends classroom' should have a plentiful supply of clay instructional materials and object. Which have educational value and benefit when children play with them, schools, parent, guardians, teachers are encourage to make ample provision for stimulating children curiosity through the use of clay teaching apparatus.

To disclose or not to disclose? Caregivers experiences of disclosure of HIV status of children living with HIV in Accra, Ghana

AbstractBackgroundStatus disclosure remains a major challenge for most caregivers of children living with HIV/AIDS, and it remains suboptimal, resulting in reduced adherence and negative psychological and physical outcomes in these children. This study explored caregivers’ experiences of disclosure of the HIV status of their affected children within the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.MethodsUsing the interpretive phenomenological qualitative approach, in‐depth interviews were conducted among 15 caregivers (aged 27–55 years) who were either the biological parents or guardians of children living with HIV (aged 6–15 years) from three main hospitals giving antiretroviral care in the Greater Accra Region. Interviews focused on the reasons for disclosure, the process of disclosure, and the aftermaths of disclosure. The interviews were recorded, transcribed, and subsequently analyzed thematically.ResultsThree main themes emerged from the analysis: “The Despair of HIV Diagnosis,” “The Dilemma and Nuances of Disclosure,” and “Aftermaths of Disclosure” Generally, the diagnosis of HIV in the children came as a shock to most caregivers which led to subsequent testing and diagnosis of caregivers. Two forms of disclosure were observed from the narratives: partial and full disclosure. Reasons for full disclosure were the child's curiosity, non‐adherence to antiretroviral therapy, and transition to high school. Non‐disclosure was as a result of stigma, the child been too young, and a lack of skill to disclose. Overall, caregivers reported that disclosure improved adherence and well‐being in their children; and helped reduce tension and anxiety among caregivers.ConclusionsThese findings suggest disclosure of HIV status to children living with HIV/AIDS has the potential to positively influence health outcomes in these children. However, caregivers need to be educated to initiate disclosure with the needed assistance from health care providers.

Protective Factors to Promote Health and Flourishing in Black Youth Exposed to Parental Incarceration.

Mass incarceration of Black fathers and mothers in the United States has had an undeniably negative effect on the health and well-being of their children, families, and communities. Nearly 1 in every 9 Black youth in the United States has had an incarcerated parent compared to 1 in every 17 White youth. To mitigate the consequences of such historical and structural racism, family and community protective factors that promote health and flourishing in Black youth need exploration. The aim of this study was to understand the associations of protective family, school, and neighborhood factors of overall health and flourishing in Black youth ever exposed to parental incarceration. Using the 2016-2019 National Survey of Children's Health, secondary data analyses were conducted of Black youth ages 6-17 years exposed to parental incarceration (n = 839). Multivariable logistic regression models predicted the associations among protective family and community factors and two child outcomes of interest: overall good health status and flourishing. Overall good health status was measured dichotomously comparing children in "good, very good, or excellent" health to children in "fair or poor" health. Flourishing was measured as a count score using three survey questions designed to assess the child's curiosity and discovery about learning, resilience, and self-regulation. Protective factors of interest included family resilience and connectedness, neighborhood support and safety, and school safety. Other child and caregiver demographics and health characteristics were also included as covariates. Across all models, higher levels of family connectedness were associated with greater odds of having overall good health and flourishing in Black youth exposed to parental incarceration after adjusting for covariates and neighborhood and school protective characteristics. No significant associations were found between neighborhood or school protective factors and either outcome. To achieve health equity and maximize opportunities for all youth, we must remove the obstacles and consequences of mass incarceration. Improving the health and flourishing of Black youth who have had incarcerated parents requires greater investment in structural supports to bolster family connectedness and better evidence on how to support families affected by mass incarceration and structural racism.

Classroom reading program to increase children's reading interest at the Emha Ainun Najib (EAN) Yogyakarta library

The problems faced by partners are the lack of children's interest in reading and the lack of library facilities other than school libraries that are specifically available for children. So that the purpose of this service is to increase children's interest in learning and at the same time facilitate children to be able to use the library around them by providing classroom reading programs. The library was the Emha Ainun Najib (EAN) library in Kadipiro Yogyakarta City which is provided for the general public. This dedication means a lot to children and the local librarian. Children live around the EAN library were more enthusiastic to come and read books in the library. This was due to the pleasant library layout supported by interesting books. This activity was also able to respond to children's curiosity to be more interested in reading so that literacy increases. This service recommends that children's reading rooms need attention, including the types of books that need to be adjusted according to age.

Robotics as a Tool to Awaken Interest in Engineering and Computing Among Children and Young People

Training is critical on engineering and technology disciplines, and it must be used to encourage today's children and youngsters to become the engineers and scientists of the future. For this reason, the Techno Museum Project carried out a series of workshops that used robotics as a motivational item to bring electronics and programming closer to children from 6 to 18 years. These topics are, a priori, commonly considered complex. The effects of these experiences on engineering and science understanding were analyzed. This work presents those analyses, which prove that learning scenarios based on the use of robotic equipment increases the motivation and curiosity of children and young people towards the use of new technologies. Motivation promotes their will to understand engineering and science. The paper shows the processes carried out by the Techno Museum Project. As for the results, a set of questions was asked to each of the participants in the experience. We will conclude that the use of mechatronics and robotics on education is a powerful motivational tool to enhance the interests of children and young people with minimal training on science and engineering.

Curiosity in Children and Adolescents

Abstract. This research presents data on the Polish adaptation of the Need for Cognition Scale for Children and Adolescents ( Keller et al., 2016 ; Preckel & Strobel, 2017 ). Two samples of children, mostly from Grade 6 of primary school, were recruited ( N1 > 1,001, N2 > 433), as well as one sample of 130 child–parent pairs. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the nested factor structure suggested in previous studies ( Keller et al., 2016 ) is also replicated in the Polish sample. Scalar measurement invariance with regard to gender has been demonstrated. Scale scores show convergent and discriminant validity with learning/performance goals as well as traits from the Big Five Questionnaire for Children ( Cieciuch et al., 2016 ). Criterion-related validity with measures of leisure time interests in popular science, identification with science, and objectified cultural family capital is shown. Data confirm that the Polish version of the scale is suitable for use; nonetheless, some possible revisions of the scale are also discussed.

The pen, the receiver and the pump: Exploring young children's experiences of having a parent with type 1 diabetes

AbstractIn this article, we explore young children's experiences of having a parent with type 1 diabetes (T1D). In our research we found that the children's knowledge about T1D was not age related, and that some had more in‐depth knowledge than others. This seemed related to how and what the parents taught them about diabetes, the individual child's curiosity and interest, and the parent's history with fluctuating blood sugar levels. Several children were affected by their parents' diabetes in their daily life. Our research contributes to knowledge about how children's lives can be affected by having a parent with chronic illness.

A Study on Science Teaching Efficacy Beliefs During Pre-Service Elementary Training

Two science teaching workshops for students of the Elementary Teacher Education Degree Course at the University of Anonymous are discussed, one based on scientific investigation methods and the other on “traditional” teaching methods. A questionnaire aimed to understand the teaching styles preferred by students, their reasons for learning/teaching science and their ideas about the difficulties a teacher faces when planning and trying out science teaching activities in class was completed by the students before, during and after the workshops. The answers given by the students were analyzed using cluster analysis methods. The answers given by the students to the questions in the initial and intermediate questionnaire indicate that trainee teachers recognize the importance of teaching scientific subjects in elementary school. However, the self-perception of their abilities and opportunities to effectively teach science is fairly negative, both before and after attending the “traditional” type teaching workshop. After doing the IB teaching workshop and holding several days of science fairs most of the student negative perceptions have changed into positive ones. A better general understanding of the fundamental role played by the teacher in encouraging the natural curiosity of children and offering scientific activities based on everyday life experiences was observed.

Perlindungan Hukum Terhadap Anak Sebagai Pelaku Penyalahgunaan Narkotika Di Pengadilan Negeri Koto Baru

In today's modern era, child delinquency tends to increase in the process of development because the curiosity of children is not limited to positive things or negative things, such as the many cases of criminal acts committed by children, one of which is narcotics abuse. Narcotics abusers are people who use narcotics without rights and against the law. Based on the SPPA Law, even though a child commits a crime, the child must receive legal protection. Based on a case that occurred at the Koto Baru District Court regarding narcotics abuse committed by a 16 (sixteen) year old child in Jorong Lubuk Pulai Nagari Sirukam, Payung Sekaki District, Solok Regency. Children as perpetrators of crime, need to get legal protection, including against children as perpetrators of narcotics abuse. The form of legal protection given to narcotics abusers is given during the trial process and in the judge's decision which decides the defendant to be returned to his parents and gets a rehabilitation program, both medical rehabilitation and social rehabilitation.
