Fostering Scientific Research Ability of Graduate Students in Chinese Local Universities: A Critical Review

Local universities and colleges constitute a significant portion of China’s educational landscape, with graduate enrollment increasing steadily each year. Against the backdrop of escalating technological competition between nations, the cultivation of Scientific Research Ability (SRA) among graduate students has garnered increasing attention. While the initial aim of postgraduate education is clear – to nurture research-oriented talent for future academic pursuits – the objectives of graduate training have evolved over time. Today, they encompass not only the development of academics but also the cultivation of high-level professionals for various industries. This paper offers a systematic overview of relevant studies in the field of postgraduate SRA cultivation, delving into the entrenched challenges within Chinese educational institutions regarding the fostering of SRA among postgraduates. Additionally, it proposes a theoretical model for SRA-oriented training and provides insights into future reforms and developments in this area.

Design and Implementation of University Students Scientific Research Ability Evaluation System Based on Neural Network

At present, many colleges attach more and more importance to the cultivation of scientific research ability of college students. However, there is no unified standard to effectively measure the cultivation effect. The current performance inference method cannot comprehensively evaluate the scientific research ability of college students. Few scholars have directly analyzed the college students’ scientific research ability from the internal and external influencing factors. Therefore, this paper tries to design and implement a neural network analysis system for scientific research ability evaluation of college students. After surveying the status quo of scientific research ability evaluation of college students in northern China’s Hebei Province, a hierarchical evaluation index system was constructed for college students’ scientific research ability, referring to the existing evaluation index systems, and the weights were designed for the evaluation indices. Next, the backpropagation (BP) neural network was optimized by chaotic sine-cosine grasshopper optimization algorithm (CSCGOA) and used to establish a neural network analysis system for scientific research ability evaluation of college students. The proposed system was proved effective through experiments. The relevant results effectively enhance the scientific level and accuracy of the evaluation of college students’ scientific research ability, improve the cultivation of college students, and provide a scientific basis for colleges to understand the scientific research ability of their students.

Analysis of the Present Situation of the Cultivation of Scientific Research and Innovation Ability in Medical Students and Exploration of the Scientific Research Training Mode

Background: This study aims to investigate, from different perspectives, the problems faced and the countermeasures suggested by five-year clinical medical students in an entrepreneurship training programme for medical students to promote medical teaching reforms. Methods: A total of 600 five-year clinical medicine majors (grades 16-18) at Bengbu Medical College (including those who did and did not participate in large-scale entrepreneurship programmes) were studied by means of internet questionnaires and interviews. Statistical analysis was used to analyse the results of 568 questionnaires. Results: Students generally hope for improvements in the quality and mode of scientific research instruction; they have a strong interest in scientific research and hope to receive training in scientific research in their spare time and that does not interfere with their studies. Moreover, students desire improvements in incentive policies for innovation, the introduction of liberal laboratory opening policies and the optimization of funding for scientific research. Conclusions: Clinical medical students in our hospital attach great importance to the cultivation of scientific research ability. The results clarify the problems faced by medical undergraduates participating in entrepreneurship programmes and provide specific quantitative data for the reform of medical education modes to cultivate the innovation capacity of medical students.

Discussion on the Cultivation of Scientific Research Ability of Postgraduates Majoring in Medicine

In order to further promote the development of medical education in China, China officially promulgated the "Guidelines for the Training of Postgraduate Students in Clinical Medicine" in 2015, and formulated the "four-in-one" training program. The clinical skills and clinical knowledge of professional degree graduates have been developed, but their research capabilities are obviously lacking. Therefore, how to improve the scientific research ability of professional degree graduate students is an urgent problem to be solved in medical graduate education. This article aims to explore some of the problems faced by medical graduate education and their reflections.

Exploration and reflection on the cultivation of scientific research ability of postgraduates in neurology department

The training of clinical theory and scientific research thinking is very important for postgraduates of neurology, however, of which, problems are existing, such as the low level of scientific research and the imperfect system. Based on the experience of postgraduate training in the hospital, the authors put forward some improving measures, specifically, to arouse the interest of scientific research, to build the scope of scientific research, to improve the comprehensive strength of personal scientific research, to establish the guarantee mechanism of scientific research and to perfect the system of graduation evaluation. Practice shows that these measures has promoted the enthusiasm and subjective initiative of neuroscience academic postgraduates for scientific research, improved the quality of postgraduate education, and formed a certain basic and clinical research output. An investigation on the effect of conducting laboratory rotation for academic medical postgraduate students

Objective In order to understand the effect of laboratory rotation, improve and streng-then the cultivation of scientific research ability for academic medical postgraduate students. Methods Questionnaire surveys including training content, teaching mode, achievements, necessity, quantity, duration and cultivating approach for scientific research ability were conducted on the 130 students in four grades who joined in the laboratory rotation project. Results A total of 130 questionnaires were sent out, and 130 valid ones were retrieved with the efficient rate of 100%. As shown in the result, postgraduate students considered the learning specific technique (34.9%), directly participating in the research projects (27.9%) and watching the experimental operation (21.4%) as the main training contents; senior students teaching (39.2%) and advisor teaching (36.1%) as the teaching mode. 58.6% students believed that advisor teaching mode was better; 68.4% students believed that senior students teaching mode was better; 67.7% students thought that the effect of laboratory rotation was good; 60.8% students thought that conducting laboratory rotation could help to cultivate the research ability; 45.4% students suggested the rotation training in three laboratories; 41.5% students thought that the duration of training in each laboratory should be two months. 28.5% students thought that the assessment method should be writing thesis. Conclusion Conducting laboratory rotation is a very effective method for improving the cultivation of scientific research ability for academic medical postgraduate students. Investigation on the satisfaction degree of the combination training mode for the professional master's degree of clinical medicine

Objective To discuss the views and significance of the parallel training mode, and provide a reference for the smooth development of the graduate students' standardized training work. Methods The self-designed questionnaire included rotation/training, clinical skills, scientific research, supporting conditions, and the rationality and prospect of the integrated training mode. We chose the graduate students of professional type classes of Grade 2014 and 2015 in a university affiliated hospital of Kunming, in a secret-based manner, and questionnaires were distributed and collected by stratified sampling and random sampling according to the proportion of 50% of the total number of them. Excel database was used for data processing and analysis. Results A total of 200 questionnaires were distributed and 167 were recovered with an effective recovery rate of 83.5%. The research items involved in the investigation of the students that were more satisfied with the project were as follows: methods of integrated training mode being more reasonable (85.0%, n=142), improving clinical comprehensive ability (83.2%, n=139), accelerating the development of high-level clinical talents (67.7%, n=113), conducive to unify the clinical practice standards (55.1%, n=92), conducive to employment (48.5%, n=81), saving medical resources (44.3%, n=78). Meanwhile, the survey found that graduate students were not satisfied with the following items: research time (88.0%, n=147), arrangements for plans of rotate conversion (65.8%, n=110), monthly income (89.8%, n=150). Conclusion The integrated training mode can accelerate the development of high-level clinical talents, save medical resources, further improve the medical education system and better improve the clinical comprehensive ability of medical students. However, it still needs to be further improved in terms of the arrangements for plans of rotate conversion of clinical departments, cultivation of scientific research ability, and salary, etc. Key words: Standardized training for residency; Clinical medicine; Professional degree; Post-graduate education

Practice and Discussion of Scientific Research Ability Training for Undergraduates Major in Geomatics

Using the School of Geomatics and Urban Information at the Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture as a case, this article first explores the connotation of the undergraduate research. Then it investigates the research capability of undergraduates, followed by a detailed depiction of the implementation of the training methods such as academic lectures, practice-oriented teaching, laboratory construction and research-oriented supervisors. Finally it analyzes the problems in the trainings for the undergraduate scientific research ability in colleges and provides some suggestions. This research can provide some new ideas and new measures and will be helpful in enhancing the undergraduates’ scientific research level and promoting the cultivation of scientific research ability and innovative ability of college students across china.

高校大学生科研实训活动的现状及对策—以湖北大学为例

通过问卷调查法、访谈法和个案分析法，对武汉市几所高校大学生科研能力培养的现状进行调查与分析。研究发现：在高校大学生参加科研实训方面，主要存在学生对科研实训认识不全面、对科研实训的目的和意义存在误解、学生参加科研实训的机会不多，教师自身职责定位存在偏差，以及在科研人才培养制度方面缺乏足够的制度保障等不足，文章同时以湖北大学为例，介绍了在加强和引导大学生参加科研实训活动方面所采取的有效措施。 Through the questionnaire method, interview method and case analysis method, this paper investigated and analyzed the current situation of the cultivation of scientific research ability of several colleges’ students in Wuhan. It was found that there were some misunderstandings about the purpose and significance of scientific research and training, the deviation of teachers’ own job responsibilities, and the lack of sufficient scientific research personnel training system in the aspects of college students’ participation in scientific research and training. At the same time, taking Hubei University as an example, this paper introduced the effective measures to guide college students to take part in the activities of scientific research and training.

Analysis of papers published by nursing staff in an upper first-class hospital in Guangxi province between 2009 and 2013

Objective Through the analysis of papers published by nursing staff in an upper first-class hospital in Guangxi province from 2009 to 2013, this paper aimed to find out the regularities, problems, and countermeasures, then provide empirical reference for promoting the progress of the nursing research. Methods Documentary metrology method was used to describe and analyze the distribution characteristics of published year, as well as professional title, educational background and length of service of the first authors. Results In these five years, nursing staff in the hospital had published 435 papers, 129 papers were published in core journals; the number of papers accelerated annually, the average published number per author was 0.18; the majority of the papers published by authors with middle professional title, junior college and working more than 20 years, which were more than 65%; the core authors were formed, elite authors were fine enough, but the quantity of the author group was deficient. Conclusions The amount of paper increased annually as a whole, the average number of paper published per author showed the features of great fluctuation, and the quality of those papers should be improved. High qualification nurses published the majority of the papers, while junior nurses would be potential authors who should publish more papers. We should establish excitation mechanism, strengthen scientific research consciousness, attach more importance to the cultivation of scientific research ability, and comprehensively improve the research level of the nurses. This paper dissertate the importance of cultivation of scientific research ability in undergraduate education stage, summarizes the present situation and the features of cultivation of scientific research ability in undergraduate education stage of medical schools, and presents the routes and measurements to enhance the cultivation of scientific research ability of medical undergraduates. The aim of this paper is to give a reference for teaching reform in medical schools.
