Study on the Impact of Green Credit on Carbon Emission Reduction in the Manufacturing Industry

This study aims to explore the impact of green credit on carbon emission reduction in the manufacturing industry. As China actively promotes its “dual carbon” goals, green credit has become increasingly prominent as an essential policy tool in the manufacturing industry. This article first conducts a literature review on green credit and carbon emission reduction in the manufacturing industry, sorting out existing research’s main findings and perspectives. Subsequently, the current challenges and potential development opportunities are revealed by analyzing the development status, problems and future trends of green credit and carbon emission reduction in the manufacturing industry. We further used the SWOT and PEST analyses to conduct an in-depth analysis of the impact of green credit on carbon emission reduction in the manufacturing industry and identified its internal and external factors. Finally, this article puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions, aiming to promote further the application of green credit in the manufacturing industry and promote carbon emission reduction work to achieve more significant results. This study will deepen our understanding of the mechanism and effect of green credit in carbon emission reduction in the manufacturing industry and provide a valuable reference for formulating and implementing relevant policies in the future.

Research on Multi-Microgrid Electricity–Carbon Collaborative Sharing and Benefit Allocation Based on Emergy Value and Carbon Trading

In response to climate change, the proportion of renewable energy penetration is increasing daily. However, there is a lack of flexible energy transfer mechanisms. The optimization effect of low-carbon economic dispatch in a single park is limited. In the context of the sharing economy, this study proposes a research method for multi-park electricity sharing and benefit allocation based on carbon credit trading. Firstly, a framework for multi-park system operation is constructed, and an energy hub model is established for the electrical, cooling, and heating interconnections with various energy conversions. Secondly, a park carbon emission reduction trading model is established based on the carbon credit mechanism, further forming an optimal economic and environmental dispatch strategy for multi-park electricity sharing. Matlab+Gurobi is used for solving. Then, based on asymmetric Nash bargaining, the comprehensive contribution rate of each park is calculated by considering their energy contribution and carbon emission reduction contribution, thereby achieving a fair distribution of cooperation benefits among multiple parks. The results show that the proposed method can effectively reduce the overall operational cost of multiple parks and decrease carbon emissions, and the benefit allocation strategy used is fair and reasonable, effectively motivating the construction of new energy in parks and encouraging active participation in cooperative operations by all parks.

Social Capital in the Patron-Client Dimension towards the Sustainability of Seaweed Cultivation Businesses in Rural Areas, South Sulawesi, Indonesia

The system of livelihoods in seaweed cultivation becomes the subject of study because of the factor of production, and the distribution of the output of production requires a strategy of merging between something material and non-material that involves interaction with various actors in society. The social capital awakened by the actors in the seaweed cultivation business through the patron-client dimension is an effort to ensure the sustainability of the business. The study aims to characterize the components of social capital that bind, bridge, and connect in the context of the relationship between actors in seaweed cultivation, including the important role of the combination of these three types of social capital in the sustainability of the seaweed cultivation business. The Research methods use qualitative descriptive approaches. Data is collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed with open, axial, and selective encoding. The results show that actors in seaweed cultivation enterprises combine the social capital components of bonding, bridging, and linking selectively, depending on the interests behind each interaction with different actors. Social bonding capital is owned by seaweed farmers in their interactions to gain access to financial capital (in the form of cash and loans). The patron-client relationship pattern is the most prominent of the reciprocity relationships, where the patron is the provider of corporate capital and the guarantor of subsistence is the cultivator. The social bridging and linking capital is owned in its interaction to gain access to social assistance and political support as well as networking. Mechanisms of sale of seaweed production are dominated by marketing networks using intermediary services (middlemen) through the concept of personalized exchange. In such market trading, the symptoms of “boro” (guarantees) are detected through subscription relationships between sellers and buyers characterized by regular personality contacts and through credit mechanisms known as “take now, pay later”. Therefore, social capital plays an important role in the sustainability of seaweed farming in the countryside. In a situation of economic or environmental change, social capital can help the farmer adapt and survive in his business and household life. We found that social capital plays an important role in the rural habitat system, where access to livelihoods depends on social relationships. Thus, support is needed to strengthen the capacity of social capital in societies because the configuration of the social capital elements can inherit the cognitive social capital, the social structural capital and the social relational capital necessary for the improved social, economic and cultural development of societies.

Mobility, Print and Trade in Europe: The Case of the Tesini Pedlars (17th–19th Centuries)

This article focuses on the itinerant print trade that actively involved the Alpine Tesini pedlars for more than three centuries (between the seventeenth and nineteenth centuries) and that profoundly influenced the cultural, social, and economic history of their home valley. The case study of the pedlars from the Tesino valley, in what is now the Trentino region of Northern Italy, offers a privileged perspective for analysing three interrelated broader questions: the dynamics and effects of mobility in Ancien Régime Alpine societies; the spread of cheap print in pre-modern Europe; and the economic system underlying this large-scale trade. Through the analysis of a corpus of previously overlooked notarial sources, this article aims to unravel the complex financial and credit mechanisms that enabled the Tesini pedlars to succeed, but which in many cases were also the cause of their downfall.

The article examines the financial and credit infrastructure of agriculture and the credit mechanism as elements of the financial and credit systems of the state. The institutional and functional structures of the financial and credit infrastructure of agriculture are analyzed. The trends, problems and features of the formation and functioning of the credit mechanism of the agro-industrial complex are considered. Recommendations for improving the credit mechanism of the agro-industrial complex have been formulated. Methodical approaches to forms of agribusiness lending are proposed and a description of certain types of lending, most acceptable for enterprises in agriculture, is given. The need for the formation of special lending mechanisms for agricultural production enterprises, adapted to the specifics of the industry, has been proven.

The impact of green credit on environmental quality: empirical evidence from China.

As an innovative financial instrument, green credit is a new driving force for environmental governance. To study the impact of green credit on environmental quality, this paper uses the provincial panel data from 2007 to 2020 to construct a panel model for analysis based on the comprehensive environmental quality index. At the same time, it discusses the mechanism and regional heterogeneity of green credit affecting environmental quality. The results show that green credit significantly improves the overall quality of the environment, which has a significant effect on air quality and green quality but has no significant impact on water quality and soil quality. Green credit improves environmental quality by improving green technology innovation and promoting industrial structure upgrading. At the same time, there is obvious heterogeneity in the environmental effect of green credit. Among them, the environmental quality improvement effect of the eastern region and the carbon emission pilot area is more evident than that of the central and western regions and the non-carbon emission pilot area. This paper has important implications for promoting the development of green credit and giving full play to the environmental effects of green credit to achieve sustainable goals.

Does digital inclusive finance increase land rent? Evidence from rural China

In developing countries, household credit constraints are determining factors affecting the efficient allocation of land resources. Digital financial inclusion is a new type of digital financial business by providing financial services through Internet technology. It broadens the information dissemination channels, provides more nonagricultural employment opportunities, and lowers the household credit constraint. By using data from Chinese farm households, we find that digital inclusive finance affects income of renting out households and expenditure of renting in households through credit mechanisms. Developing digital inclusive finance is a method to promote market-oriented land transfer and the effective utilization of land resources.

Theoretical aspects of the formation and development of the financial and credit mechanism of the agro-industrial complex have been studied. The specifics of credit relations in the field of agricultural production are determined. The market for credit resources of subjects of the agro-industrial complex and the possibilities of expanding financial relations in agriculture are analyzed. The current practice of providing agricultural enterprises with borrowed funds by credit institutions is analyzed. The process of transformation of state policy to support the formation and development of the agricultural sector with credit resources is analyzed and the need to make appropriate changes is substantiated. Practical measures are proposed to eliminate gaps in the existing practice of financial and credit relationships between subjects of the agro-industrial complex and credit institutions.

The relevance of the topic of the article is determined by the need to improve bank lending as an effective way to solve the problem of economic development of agricultural enterprises. The reasons behind the difficulty of lending to small agricultural enterprises have been identified. The general factors constraining lending to agricultural enterprises are examined. The analysis of the factors ensuring the formation of the credit services market was based on the assumption of the need for a balanced presence of conditions on the part of supply and demand factors. The reasons for the low effectiveness of government policy measures to create credit mechanisms are identified. Proposals have been formulated to increase the availability of credit in the context of the efficiency of banks serving agricultural enterprises. Measures have been proposed to improve credit support for the agricultural sector of the economy.

The presented study analyzes the main sources of financial resources that are necessary for the effective and sustainable development of territories. Currently in Russia there is uneven distribution of financial resources, the bulk of which is concentrated in several large federal centers, while the remaining territories often experience a significant shortage of financial resources, which does not allow the regions to reach their full economic potential. This issue becomes especially relevant in conditions of macroeconomic turbulence and emerging trends in the deglobalization of the world economy. The purpose of the study is to analyze the main financial and credit mechanisms used to support the economic development of the Republic of Adygea, existing programs and projects to attract investment, as well as problems and prospects for further development of the financial sector in the region. The study is based on the use of a system-functional approach. During the research process, general scientific methods and techniques were used, as well as private methodological tools for economic developments. In the course of the analysis, the authors identified the existing problems of financing the economy of the region, identified growth points, and substantiated the concept confirming the need to create and develop an effective financial and credit mechanism in the regions due to the objective need to decentralize management in the country, providing regions with greater economic independence.

Research on the Review and Supervision Mechanism of Green Credit

Green credit involves the government, enterprises and commercial banks, among which commercial banks are not only the executors of the government’s macro-control functions, but also the lenders of credit business, which are both public and commercial, and are the core subjects of green credit. Due to the different classification standards of green credit, the low availability of environmental information and the lack of third-party auxiliary institutions, commercial banks are left without resources when auditing green credit enterprises and projects, but the necessary supervision mechanism is lacking because of the ambiguous division of supervision subjects and their responsibilities. In order to prevent the phenomenon that commercial banks neglect the audit, which virtually helps enterprises to cause environmental and resource damage accidents, we should improve the review and supervision mechanism of green credit from two aspects: unifying the classification standards of green credit and establishing the legal system of green credit supervision.

Shared recycling model for waste electrical and electronic equipment based on the targeted responsibility system in the context of China

The formal recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) has long faced collection difficulties owing to the inadequate recycling system and insufficient collection capacity under China’s fund-based recycling model. The government has introduced the recycling Target Responsibility System (TRS) to motivate producers to develop and share recycling systems, yet without clear incentive mechanisms. In this study, we provide a “1 + N” shared recycling model referring to the theory of the sharing economy, and we propose a credit mechanism with a deposit system and a penalty mechanism for dishonesty to constrain the opportunistic behavior of sharing. In addition, according to the TRS, we design a “reduction-penalty-subsidy” fund policy to incentivize producers and recyclers to achieve recycling targets. On this basis, we apply evolutionary game theory and system dynamics approach to analyze the collaborative mechanism of shared recycling and the incentive effect of the funding policy. Game analysis yields the evolution of shared recycling from the developing stage to the mature stage. The system simulation results indicate that the government’s “penalty” and “subsidy” strategies provide evident incentives for producers and recyclers, respectively, in the developing stage, whereas endogenous dynamics derived from economies of scale under market mechanisms promote the multi-agent collaborative implementation of shared recycling in the mature stage.

Indigenous engagement challenges and carbon mitigation activities in Malaysian forest policy

Malaysia’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 hinges on its ability to protect its abundant carbon sinks, notably its natural forests. However, several challenges impede effective forest protection, including the undervaluation of forested land, the absence of regulatory safeguards against land use changes, and the insufficient protection of land rights of indigenous communities. This paper examines these challenges and their implications for Malaysia’s net-zero emissions goal. It argues that remedial action is necessary, including the development of carbon credit mechanisms that recognize indigenous communities as integral stakeholders and the implementation of regulatory reforms to address the undervaluation of forested land and to strengthen the protection of land rights of indigenous communities.

Does green credit benefit the clean energy technological innovation and how? The policy catering behavior of enterprises

Green credit can alleviate the financing constraints of green enterprises, and thus is an important policy to encourage green development and mitigate climate change. However, how green credit affects the technological innovation of clean energy enterprise (TICEE) and the role of corporate policy catering behavior (CPCB) both need to be further explored. Therefore, the impact mechanisms of green credit and the roles of CPCB are empirically tested by the mediation model and moderation model, respectively. Compared with large, eastern and mature enterprises, green credit plays a stronger positive role in the technological innovation of small, central and western and growing enterprises. Green credit optimizes enterprises' debt financing by alleviating financing constraints, reducing debt costs and extending debt maturity structure, thus driving technological innovation. Besides, the two most typical types of CPCB — research and development (R&D) manipulation and rent-seeking — weaken the positive effect of green credit on TICEE. However, CPCB weakens less on the quality of innovation of large, mature and eastern enterprises. Accordingly, green credit should be strengthened to promote TICEE, and the supervision of corporate speculation should also be strengthened to avoid the policy's failure.

Access to housing credit and marriage: evidence from redlining maps

AbstractThis study evaluates the impact of a policy popularly known as “redlining” on marriage. This policy led to the creation of a series of maps that guided banks in their lending, where some areas were favored and others were discriminated against. Given the quasi-randomness of mortgage discrimination, this policy allows us to make inferences regarding whether housing credit constraints affect marriage. Furthermore, it also provides insight into whether unequal access to housing credit played a role in the contemporary racial marriage gap. This policy allows us to make these inferences due to the fact that neighborhood blocks that were more heavily discriminated against had higher proportions of Black residents. The study uses a spatial differences in discontinuities design to show that the maps led to a reduction in marriage in discriminated areas. These effects are shown to not be due to sorting. They can also be ascribed to the housing credit mechanism per se, rather than competing second-order mechanisms that result from individuals being denied mortgages. These second-order effects can include, for instance, neighborhood decline effects found in other redlining work.

The article examines the issues of the formation of a modern legal model of financial relations aimed at strengthening the financial sovereignty of the state. Based on the analysis of financial legislation, law enforcement practice and legal doctrine, the author comes to the conclusion that it is necessary to carry out administrative reform aimed at integrating the Bank of Russia with the tasks of the Government of the Russian Federation to achieve the goals of sustainable economic development of the state. According to the author, the relations developing in the sphere of functioning of the financial system do not fit into the sectoral model of law. The use of general logical research methods, including analysis and synthesis, formal legal and comparative legal methods allowed the author to come to the following conclusions. 1. The formation of a modern model of financial and legal regulation, ensuring the strengthening of the financial sovereignty of the Russian Federation, should be based on administrative reform that creates conditions for the integration of the Bank of Russia with the tasks of the Government of the Russian Federation to achieve the goals of sustainable economic development of the state. 2. A balance between the tasks of the Government of the Russian Federation to achieve economic development goals and the goals of inflation targeting carried out by the Bank of Russia can be found through work to harmonize monetary and fiscal policy instruments - these two principles of managing the financial and credit mechanism. 3. In order to create a legal model of monetary circulation that prevents the withdrawal of capital and the legalization of proceeds from crime, it is necessary to carry out work to harmonize private law and public law methods of regulating financial relations. This will create the basis for the integration of legal instruments regulating the circulation of funds currently covered by different legal regimes.
