Analysis and Research on the Effectiveness of Computer Teaching in Colleges and Universities

With the deepening of curriculum reform, computer courses are becoming more and more important in the higher education system. To improve the effectiveness of computer teaching has become a topic of particular concern to many educators. This paper aims to build an efficient computer classroom, based on the current situation of computer teaching, summarizes and puts forward many strategies and suggestions to improve the effectiveness of computer teaching in colleges and universities, to provide a new idea and perspective for the reform and innovation of computer teaching, and promote the high-quality development of the overall computer teaching in colleges and universities.

Research on the Development Model of Computer Course Resources in Vocational Colleges Based on the Integration of Industry and Education

China is currently experiencing a critical period of development in vocational education from a scale-based approach to a content-based approach. The integration of industry and education is considered the main theme of vocational education reform, and one of its core issues is curriculum construction. The traditional reform of computer courses has a series of problems in terms of matching the structure with talent training goals, matching the content with professional job requirements, and integrating the evaluation system with professional development. To address this challenge, this article focuses on the construction of integrated curriculum resources between industry and education, with student ability cultivation as the core, and is committed to strengthening the deep connection between talent cultivation and enterprise development. To this end, we have explored and proposed a development model for industry education integration courses based on the concept of "school enterprise coeducation - practical majors - industry connectivity - zero distance docking", in order to solve many problems faced by traditional computer course reform and promote vocational education to move towards a more connotation rich development stage.

Prize‐Based Learning in an Introductory Computer Course—A Case Study

ABSTRACTIntroduction to Computer Science is traditionally the first course that all computer science and software engineering majors take. The course introduces many problem‐solving techniques which can be challenging for many freshman students. In order to mitigate some of the issues of this course, we, at the Higher Education Institute, introduced a new prerequisite course, Introduction to Programming Logic, which is a required course for all students who have not taken any previous computer science course. In the Summer Session of 2022, we included prize‐based learning in one of the sections of the course. Prize‐based learning is similar to both problem‐based learning and project‐based learning in many aspects, including the principle of student‐centred learning. However, it differs with respect to the motivation for student success. This approach utilises the students' ambition to win, to encourage students to work harder and learn more both inside as well as outside the classroom.

Effect of Small Private Online Course + Presentation, Assimilation, Discussion (SPOC+PAD) on Student Achievement in a Computer Course

This paper aims to document the implementation of the Small Private Online Course (SPOC) + Presentation, Assimilation, Discussion (PAD) teaching strategy to a computer course in a Chinese higher vocational college and assess its effect on student achievement. Through a quasi-experimental design, pre- and posttests will be used to assess student achievement in two lessons in a computer course. The study aims to enlist 160 first-year college students from four Stomatology classes in Gansu Health Vocational College. N-gain scores and tests of significant difference will be used to analyze the data.

Data Privacy in Social Media: Awareness and Comfortability of Mathematical Computing Course Session I 2023/2024 Sultan Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah Polytechnic’s Students

The increasing integration of social media into daily lives of individuals has raised significant concerns about data privacy. As users actively engage with various platforms, the extent to which they are aware of the privacy implications and their comfort levels with the use of personal data become vital issues. This study aimed to identify social media platforms that are often used by students, their level of awareness towards social media data privacy policy and their comfortability towards data privacy by social media companies. The respondents in this study comprises of 106 male and female students. The data are analyzed descriptively by mean, frequency and percentage. The level of awareness towards social media data privacy policy is high with average mean score 3.94, WhatsApp is the often-surfed social media platform by score of 89.62% and most students were highly comfortable with how educational social media platform used their data with mean 3.85. This study proposes the necessity of a diverse approach involving education, user empowerment, and technological advancements to enhance data privacy awareness and comfort levels among students in the realm of social media and prepare to a more secure and responsible online environment for the next generation users

COMPUTER EDUCATION REFORM IN TAIWAN

This article discusses the evolution of computer education curricula in primary and high schools worldwide, highlighting the significance of adapting to the rapid advancements in information technology. It addresses the varying perspectives on the content and timing of computer courses and analyzes literature on pre-university computer curricula across different countries. These differences reflect the unique societal and economic conditions of each country. Taiwan's computer education reform, initiated in 2019 with the 12-Year Curriculum Guidelines, is explained. The reform significantly emphasizes computational thinking, a recent shift in curriculum orientation incorporating problem-solving skills to address real-world issues. The discussion also notes the difficulties in promoting new computer curricula, emphasizing the need to understand these challenges to prevent potential conflicts. A Realist Review of Undergraduate Student Attitudes towards Ethical Interventions in Technical Computing Courses

As computing educators begin to recognize that their students need strong ethical foundations, there is a growing interest to integrate meaningful ethics education into undergraduate computing curricula. To achieve this, it is crucial to understand how students respond to ethical interventions in the classroom. This review examines the acceptance of ethical interventions in undergraduate computing courses, using the realist synthesis method to identify and refine underlying theories of student acceptance, and refine them through available studies. Four theories were identified in a synthesis of 13 reports, providing insight into what may improve student attitudes towards ethical interventions in which contexts and under which circumstances. The findings of this realist review offer guidance to intervention designers, researchers, and educators seeking to meaningfully engage students with ethics in computing education.

Constraint free physics-informed machine learning for micromagnetic energy minimization

We introduce a novel method for micromagnetic energy minimization which uses physics-informed neural networks to find a magnetic configuration which minimizes the Gibbs Free energy functional without the need of any constraint optimization framework. The Cayley transform is applied to a neural network to assure that the model output lives on the Lie group of rotation matrices SO(3). For the stray field computation we use the splitting ansatz of Garcia-Cervera and Roma together with a hard constraint extreme learning machine in combination with a Taylor series approximation for very accurate evaluation of the single layer potential which only requires a very coarse discretization of the surface. Further, we present a modeling framework for constructive solid geometry which uses R-functions to exactly satisfy essential boundary conditions arising in the course of stray field computation. This framework can be applied to many other areas of interest. Our method shows promising results on the NIST μMAG Standard Problem #3, and is also applied to compute the demagnetization process of a hard magnetic Nd2Fe14B cube.

Artificial Intelligence Empowers Innovation in Teaching of Public Computer Courses

This paper expounds the core characteristics of artificial intelligence and its application potential in the field of education, analyzes the challenges currently faced by computer public course teaching, and proposes innovative strategies and methods to effectively integrate artificial intelligence into computer public course teaching. It uses large language models for personalized teaching, optimizes teaching content through knowledge graphs, and uses recommendation systems to improve practical operation capabilities. The course teaching system that supports the entire process of" learning - teaching -evaluation- continuous improvement" realizes personalized and customized learning , promotes the advancement of traditional computer public course teaching with the support of artificial intelligence technology and tools , and assists teachers in completing teaching evaluation. Through teaching empirical research, it is shown that it can better support teaching, facilitate the updating of teaching knowledge, help improve practical operation capabilities, and cultivate autonomous learning ability, thereby improving teaching quality and effectiveness.

The Effect of Using Interactive E-activities on Motivation towards Learning and Academic Achievement of Tenth-Grade Female Students in the Information Technology and Computer course

هدفَ هذا البحث إلى التعرف على أثر استخدام الأنشطة الإلكترونية التفاعلية في تدريس مقرر الحاسب وتقنية المعلومات على: الدافعية نحو التعلم، وتنمية التحصيل الدراسي، لدى طالبات الصف الأول الثانوي. واستخدمت الباحثة المنهج شبه التجريبي، وتكونت أدوات البحث من اختبار تحصيلي ومقياس الدافعية نحو التعلم، وقد اشتمل مجتمع البحث على جميع طالبات الصف الأول الثانوي في المدارس الثانوية التابعة لمكتب تعليم الحرس الوطني بالرياض في الفصل الأول من العام الدراسي 1440/1441 هـ وعددهن (570) طالبة، تم اختيار عينة مكونة من (60) طالبة من طالبات ثانوية فاطمة بنت محمد بالحرس الوطني، بطريقة قصدية مثّل أحدهما المجموعة التجريبية (30) طالبة، ومثّل الآخر المجموعة الضابطة (30) طالبة، من فصول الصف الأول الثانوي التي تدرس مقرر (الحاسب وتقنية المعلومات). وقد أظهرت نتائج البحث حصول طالبات المجموعة التجريبية اللاتي دُرِّسنَ باستخدام الأنشطة الإلكترونية التفاعلية على درجات أعلى من طالبات المجموعة الضابطة اللاتي دُرِّسنَ بالطريقة المعتادة، في مجمل الاختبار التحصيلي، كما حصلت طالبات التجريبية على درجات أعلى من طالبات المجموعة الضابطة اللاتي دُرِّسنَ بالطريقة المعتادة في بعض أبعاد الاختبار التحصيلي: التذكر، التحليل، التطبيق، بالإضافة إلى وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في مقياس الدافعية لصالح المجموعة التجريبية. وبناءً على هذه النتائج أوصت الباحثة بتشجيع الطالبات على استخدام الأنشطة الإلكترونية التفاعلية لتنفيذ المهام التعليمية؛ والاستفادة من أدوات الرسم الإلكتروني التي توفرها برامج الأنشطة الإلكترونية التفاعلية.

The Pastoral Model of Educating Seniors at Universities of the Third Age at UPJPII in Krakow

Universities of the third age have become very popular in Poland and in the world. As institutions dealing with lifelong learning, they have the appropriate competencies to ensure that the various needs of seniors are met. U3A, established at UPJPII in Kraków in 2011, is one of such programs, dynamically operating in Poland. It is aimed not only at increasing the level of general knowledge but also at the religious formation of the students. The university has a religious profile and implements a pastoral and educational program, that includes lectures and workshops in the field of the Bible and anthropology, ethics, theology, philosophy and history of the Church, as well as an educational and cultural program (religious tourism, theatre arts), that is meant as a form of creative support for seniors. Plenary lectures and seminar workshops are complemented with the offer of additional educational and developmental classes. They include foreign language learning, computer courses, tourism, sports and cultural activities. Thanks to our U3A, many elderly people have improved their self-esteem and sense of dignity. They have also learned how to overcome problems related to old age and barriers preventing them from full participation in social and parish life.

Point- and contact-symmetry pseudogroups of dispersionless Nizhnik equation

Applying an original megaideal-based version of the algebraic method, we compute the point-symmetry pseudogroup of the dispersionless (potential symmetric) Nizhnik equation. This is the first example of this kind in the literature, where there is no need to use the direct method for completing the computation. The analogous studies are also carried out for the corresponding nonlinear Lax representation and the dispersionless counterpart of the symmetric Nizhnik system. We also first apply the megaideal-based version of the algebraic method to find the contact-symmetry (pseudo)group of a partial differential equation. It is shown that the contact-symmetry pseudogroup of the dispersionless Nizhnik equation coincides with the first prolongation of its point-symmetry pseudogroup. We check whether the subalgebras of the maximal Lie invariance algebra of the dispersionless Nizhnik equation that naturally arise in the course of the above computations define the diffeomorphisms stabilizing this algebra or its first prolongation. In addition, we construct all the third-order partial differential equations in three independent variables that admit the same Lie invariance algebra. We also find a set of geometric properties of the dispersionless Nizhnik equation that exhaustively defines it.

Course Construction and Practice of Embedded Computing for New Engineering Education

Facing the reform and development of the New Engineering Education, the paper combines the Embedded Computing course construction and practice. The course of Embedded Computing is an elective course for postgraduates majoring in Computer Science in Harbin University of technology. Under the guidance of the education direction for Emerging Engineering Education, it must be strengthened the construction and practice of the course. This paper combines the traditional teaching mode with the online teaching mode, the theoretical content driven by problems with DIY practice, and adopts a diversified evaluation system. Through the curriculum reforms, the students' learning enthusiasm has been actively mobilized, and the teaching quality has been significantly improved. This paper can provide reference for reform of talent training in our teaching courses.

Exploring the Ideological and Political Model of Graduate Computer Courses under the Background of “Three Comprehensive Education”

This paper expounds on the path exploration of constructing the cooperative education mechanism of “Curriculum Ideological and Political” in Computer Courses as the main content. Combined with the fundamental tasks and requirements of “establishing morality and cultivating people” and “Three Comprehensive education”, this paper analyzes and explores how to integrate “Curriculum Ideological and Political” in Computer Courses into the education process of engineering postgraduates, in order to realize the value of collaborative education mechanism in curriculum ideological and political teaching. This paper selects the “literature analysis and selection method” and the “expert consultation method” to screen and determine the connotation of evaluation indicators; and uses the “Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP)” to determine the weights of each indicator in the evaluation indicator system. And provide reference value for training new engineering comprehensive talents with reliable politics, rich humanistic literacy, excellent professional skills, and good professional ethics. At the same time, the construction of the evaluation system and the method of compiling scientific questionnaires also provide reference and guidance for the evaluation of teaching quality in various universities.

Research on cultivating computational thinking in university computer courses - Based on PBL strategies

This study focuses on the cultivation of computational thinking in the "University Computer" course, proposing a teaching model strategy based on PBL (Problem-Based Learning). By designing authentic and challenging teaching problems, students are guided to actively explore and collaborate to solve them, thereby cultivating their computational thinking abilities. The research found that the PBL teaching model can effectively enhance students' computational thinking skills, as well as strengthen their problem-solving and innovation abilities. Additionally, this study also discusses the issues and challenges encountered during implementation, providing valuable insights for future teaching practices.

Research on Intelligent Recommendation of Computer Course Items Combining Augmented Learning Algorithms and Data Mining Techniques

Abstract This paper combines augmented learning algorithms and data mining techniques for an intelligent recommendation system for computer course projects to optimize the allocation of learning resources and improve learning efficiency and effectiveness. The research methodology includes an improved association rule mining algorithm and an augmented learning model applying deep Q-network and adaptive reward function. The research results show that the system can effectively mine knowledge point associations and achieve personalized recommendation. In particular, the accuracy of knowledge point associations and the customized level of recommendation are improved by multi-support strategy improvement and knowledge point association correction. Experiments show that on the edX dataset, the recommendation recall reaches 0.347 at k=10 and 0.433 at k=20, significantly better than the traditional recommendation algorithm. This intelligent recommendation system can effectively improve the learning effect of computer course projects, and it has a positive impact on both learning attitude and independent learning ability, especially helping the backward students significantly and reducing the learning differences between classes.

Research on Microlecture Construction of Computer Teaching in Universities

With the advent of the era of big data, various education models adapted to informatization and modernization are emerging. Microlectures, as a new type of educational resource, are gradually being widely applied in the field of online education. This article introduces the characteristics and advantages of microlectures, and analyzes the issues that should be paid attention to in the construction of micro course resources, and proposes a construction plan. Taking the computer courses in universities as an example, an innovative teaching method based on microlecture technology is designed to build “micro” classrooms for university computer courses, ultimately improving teaching quality and efficiency. With the continuous development of technology, microlectures will play a more important role in future university teaching.

Determining the Factors that Influence the Professional Achievement of the Department of Youth Development Trainee: A follow-up Study on the Trainee of two Computer-Based Courses at Dhaka Region.

This study analyzes the factors affecting the performance of respondents trained under the DYD (the Department of Youth Development) computed project to enter the job market. The primary aim of this research is to evaluate the impact of computer courses provided by DYD in Dhaka city on the current job market. Though there are many factors in this sector, we focused on the factors influencing the trainee to build their career. 828 respondents from different institutions under the DYD computer training program at Dhaka were communicated over the telephone, and their opinions were analyzed using statistical software. In this work, seven key parameters for five distinct DYD institutions in the Dhaka region were considered, and the data was synthesized with the assumption of meta-analysis using the well-known fixed-effect approach. Furthermore, impact size and odds ratio have been combined in this study using the inverse variance approach. Further, Stouffer’s method evaluates the significance of factors for overall studies. Hence, this research has provided a more secure conclusion for assessing the development of the trainee in their job field. Based on our findings, the youth have utilized this computer training to participate in many income-generating endeavors and have secured well-paying employment. This study finds that factors such as sex, the respondent’s training period profession, the necessity of the training, the satisfaction of the respondent’s present profession, and fulfillment of the training play a significant role in the respondent’s professional success.
