Influence of 3D spatial effect of underground structure on the nonlinear seismic response of subway station based on the comparison of 2D and 3D models

This paper takes an actual station of Nanjing Metro Line 2 as the research object and establishes the corresponding 2D and 3D overall time-domain nonlinear finite element models, respectively. By analyzing the results of the two models, the influence of the 3D spatial effects of the underground structure on the seismic response of the structure is studied. The results show that the 2D model cannot correctly reflect the deformation characteristics of the 3D station structure at the middle of the longitudinal length. The results obtained from the 2D model are roughly equivalent to the results at 1/4 of the longitudinal length of the 3D station structure. The overall longitudinal bending deflection of the station's top and middle slabs in their own plane can well reflect the 3D cooperative work degree of the station. Based on this, the conversion coefficient of the maximum inter-story displacement angle proposed in this paper can better convert the 2D model results. The minimum error between the converted 2D model results and the 3D model results is only 0.78%, and the maximum error is only about 10%. The maximum inter-story displacement angle conversion coefficient with 95% probability guarantee finally given is 1.447. Through the statistical analysis of the internal force ratio of the 3D model and the 2D model at the key cross-sections, this paper also gives the conversion coefficients with 95% probability guarantee for the bending moment, the axial force and the shear force of the key cross-sections, which are 0.696, 0.773, and 0.785, respectively.

Validation of Questionnaire on Teachers’ Beliefs and Practices of Cooperative Group Work Assessment

This paper aimed to validate a questionnaire intended to measure secondary school teachers’ beliefs and practices of cooperative group work assessment in selected secondary schools in SNNPRS, Ethiopia. To this effect, five experts were selected to rate the content and face validity of the tool. To rate the questionnaire for construct validity, 213 randomly selected secondary school teachers were involved. The validation procedures made use of face validity index, Item Content Validity Index (I-CVIs) and Content Validity Index for scale (S-CVI/Ave), principal component analysis (PCA), and Cronbach alpha. The final questionnaire, which consisted of 31 items, has been found psychometrically valid and reliable to measure teachers’ beliefs and practices of cooperative group work assessment.

Iraqi EFL Students’ Perceptions Towards Entertainment And Rigorous Learning

This study aims to investigate Iraqi students’ perceptions towards entertainment and rigorous learning at the College of Education for the woman/university of Tikrit. Educational computer game research expanded rapidly as a result of the widespread perception among younger generations that games might provide several educational advantages. It is useful to understand how educational games can help strengthen the engagement and learning perceptions of our students towards technology in the light of intensive teaching activities and the actions of teachers to build a respectful, constructive learning atmosphere for the conduct of students towards each other and the rate and level of involvement of students in class discussion. The tool of the study is a questionnaire checklist from strongly agree to disagree strongly. The sample of the study consists of 82 (female) participants at the English department/university of Tikrit. This paper investigates two aspects of learning and comprehensive learning for educational games. The results demonstrated that the majority of students were more motivated to learn programming through the use of games than through traditional methods, fostering hopeful attitudes. Hopefully, the results would serve to enrich information in recognizing the attitudes of students about educational learning games, with the outcome of the exchange for rigorous learning revealing that students have negative perceptions about several points that respect teachers for students, weak cooperative work, and guidelines for respect during class conduct.

The purpose of this paper is to reveal a form of activity of the majority of the people of Plalangan Village, Sumbermalang District as fish sack craftsmen. This is motivated by the relationship that the craftsmen have with local and outside collectors which is a factor in the emergence of these craftsmen. Being a craftsman is not only limited to economic needs, but the social and cultural sectors are also built in it. Bringing up an informal community for craftsmen, especially housewives to strengthen togetherness and kinship. The mothers there become informal workers making fish sacks. Trust, norms, and networks each have their own characteristics in strengthening, strengthening, and increasing the togetherness of craftsmen in the process of sustainable production. The three concepts of social capital also play a role in group management to form development strategies, fund allocation, cooperation, and group work division.

Caseworkers’ participation in procurement: Infrastructuring Child Welfare Services in Norway

Procurement is a widely adopted collaborative approach for acquiring new systems in the public sector. It exemplifies a situation in which the early stages of digital system design define the boundaries and constraints of a new system that must be specified in the tender document (i.e., a binding offer). Researchers and government officials have long recognized the benefit of end-user participation in system design. Given the central role of the pre-tender phases in procurement processes, however, there is a need to better understand what affects user participation in such early stages. In this paper, we research a procurement process in municipal Child Welfare Services in Norway. We focus on caseworkers' participation in procuring a future case management system. We build on the concept of participatory infrastructuring to characterize how the meaning of participation was shaped through three overarching participatory infrastructuring practices of decision-making within a rigid procurement process: (i) scaling up the project, (ii) negotiating participation in meetings with potential suppliers and in tender documents, and (iii) positioning caseworkers as subject experts. The analysis of these practices reveals that the definition of user needs in the tender documentation and the creation of knotworks define both the boundary conditions and the modalities of participation. We contribute to the conversation on participatory infrastructuring in Computer-Supported Cooperative Work by discussing how participatory infrastructuring provides a conceptual understanding of participation in the context of municipal systems procurement.

Music in Spanish schools, high schools and conservatories: educational response strategies against the COVID-19 pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic has meant that practically all Spanish educational centers have had to adapt the teaching they provide. The case of the musical field in general and that of instrumental practice in particular has had to organize an effective educational response with which to ensure the well-being and learning of students. That is why we have carried out a systematic review based on research questions and a main objective related to the strategies that conservatories and general education centers have adopted in the musical field. Initially we selected a series of databases of recognized international and Hispanic prestige in which to carry out searches with the defined key terms. The different phases of study of the documents were limited by the inclusion criteria and the search formulas, giving rise to the final selection once those documents that appeared duplicates in the databases had been eliminated. The results show how the main strategies in the primary stages are related to collaborative and cooperative work, even in the phase of suppression of educational attendance. In addition, in music conservatories, group instrumental practice has had certain peculiarities during the different phases of the pandemic, with the main strategy carried out by teachers being teacher coordination.

Realization and Scheduling of Free Spot Assembly Method for Machine Tools Using Cooperative Industrial Robots

The manufacturing industry is increasingly demanding flexible manufacturing and existing manufacturing methods with fixed equipment do not meet this requirement. The free spot assembly system is an ultra-flexible method that responds to this demand, enabling spatiotemporal free assembly by conveying all necessary resources with automated guided vehicles (AGVs). Although some studies have proposed free spot assembly, free spot assembly feasibility for assembling heavy objects, such as machine tools, by aligning them at high precision has not been verified. Work hour shifts, differences in worker skill levels, and cooperative work with robots have also not been considered in free spot assembly scheduling. This paper presents elemental technologies for realizing a free spot assembly system, with a scheduling method where a genetic algorithm is supported by dispatching rules with six genes. The computational results reveal the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Training Digital Competencies in Future Primary School Teachers: A Systematic Review

Technology proliferated in our daily lives, including in the educational system. To make good use of it, it is so important that teachers have the best training in its use and possibilities. The main objective of this study was to analyze the different methods of training for future primary school teachers and assess the efficacy of the methods. We used SCOPUS, and Web of Science databases to carry out this systematic review and we followed the PRISMA statement. Two authors independently conducted the literature search, and then, they reached a consensus. A total of 13 relevant articles were selected to be analyzed in detail. Our results showed that the training programs carried out improved the digital competencies of students of primary education degrees. Moreover, they improved the knowledge of theoretical content, improved linguistic competence and fostered cooperative work and creativity. In conclusion, we encourage teachers, not only future teachers but also current teachers, to take these types of training programs in order to improve their digital competency, which is a necessity in current society.

Controllable Local Propagation Environment to Maximize the Multiplexing Capability of Massive MIMO Systems

The capability of controlling and modifying wireless propagation channels is one of the prerogatives of beyond-5G systems. In this paper, we propose the use of a controllable local propagation environment surrounding the terminals, and analyze its positive effect on the multiplexing capability of massive MIMO systems. In particular, we focus on using a few switched passive elements surrounding each terminal. In this way, the modification of the propagation environment is not realized by means of a single structure, as in reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS), but is achieved by the cooperative work of all the terminals. By employing numerical simulations, we show that the proposed system outperforms its non-reconfigurable counterpart in terms of the number of contemporary connected users. Moreover, the optimized system enables a substantial increase in the minimum received power by the terminals, thus guaranteeing superior channel fairness.

Governance transformation towards localisation of sustainable development goal 11 in India

Sub-national governments play an essential role in transforming existing governance to deliver on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with SDG 11 intrinsically linked to SDG localisation. The Indian government is reforming its existing institutional mechanisms, and a research gap exists in assessing these reforms and sub-national responses to changes at the national level. Drawing from a transition management approach, this study focuses on the localisation of SDG 11 in India through a systematic evaluation of the national-level changes, which are then used as a reference to examine sub-national responses. Our findings indicate that the governance transformation for SDG 11 localisation in India is optimistic but has yet to generate deep transformational reforms given its developing stages. First, the Indian governance system attempts to make cooperative and competitive federalism work complementary to SDG localisation. Second, the political impact of the SDGs on sub-national governance has remained primarily discursive. Third, there is an advantage to exerting the overlaps between SDG 11 and existing government schemes to discern governance adaptiveness and reflexiveness in monitoring and evaluation systems. Four, there are limitations to the usage of the SDG India Index and risks of over-reliance on scheme-based monitoring and evaluation frameworks. In analysing different governance changes around India's SDG localisation across its cyclical process (strategic, tactical, operational, reflexive), this study provides a nuanced understanding of the transition of the governance system in India towards a governance model for achieving the SDGs.

A novel vertical waterproofing joint with trapezoidal steel plate connections for steel–concrete underground silos: Bending test and numerical simulation

Steel-concrete silo is a popular option in green grain storage project due to its pretty stiffness and better waterproof. However, the structural form and mechanical properties of vertical joints in the prefabricated steel–concrete silo are two key problems, which restrict its wide application. Consequently, a novel vertical waterproofing joint with trapezoidal steel plate (TSP) connections is proposed for steel–concrete underground silos. The TSP is welded laterally between the adjacent prefabricated silo walls, and it also needs to undertake part of the axial force transmission of underground silos. Firstly, the steel–concrete specimen of two-TSPs’ deformation, interior force, failure mode and mechanism are analyzed comprehensively. Secondly, two numerical model of the steel–concrete silo wall with non-TSP and two-TSP are established on ABAQUS. Finally, the effect of different parameters on mechanical properties are analyzed. Experimental results show that, compared with the specimens with non-TSP, the deflection of the proposed two-TSP connection is decreased by 270% and the yield load of internal waterproof steel plate is increased by 29%. When the internal waterproof steel plate is yield, the compressive strain of external waterproof steel plate and TSP in the upper part are similar, while its internal tensile strain in the lower part have a little gap. TSP can cooperative work with both internal and external waterproof steel plates. Numerical results are difference from test results by only 5.34% and 4.48% respectively, which verifies that the numerical model is effective and feasible. Meanwhile, it is also found that the proposed novel connection has the greatest strength enhancement effect on flexural bearing capacity of vertical joint, and the greatest effect on improving the flexural bearing capacity of vertical joint.

"We are half-doctors": Family Caregivers as Boundary Actors in Chronic Disease Management

Computer-Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) and Human--Computer Interaction (HCI) research is increasingly investigating the roles of caregivers as ancillary stakeholders in patient-centered care. Our research extends this body of work to identify caregivers as key decision-makers and boundary actors in mobilizing and managing care. We draw on qualitative data collected via 20 semi-structured interviews to examine caregiving responsibilities in physical and remote care interactions within households in urban India. Our findings demonstrate the crucial intermediating roles family caregivers take on while situated along the boundaries separating healthcare professionals, patients and other household members, and online/offline communities. We propose design recommendations for supporting caregivers in intermediating patient-centered care, such as through training content and expert feedback mechanisms for remote care, collaborative tracking mechanisms integrating patient- and caregiver-generated health data, and caregiving-centered online health communities. We conclude by arguing for recognizing caregivers as critical stakeholders in patient-centered care who might constitute technologically assisted pathways to care.

Toward a Feminist Social Media Vulnerability Taxonomy

Vulnerability intimately shapes the lived human experience and continues to gain attention in computer-supported cooperative work and human-computer interaction scholarship broadly, and in social media studies specifically. Social media comprise sociotechnical affordances that may uniquely shape lived experiences with vulnerability, rendering existing frameworks inadequate for comprehensive examinations of vulnerability as mediated on social media. Through interviews with social media users in the United States (N = 20) and drawing on feminist conceptualizations of vulnerability and social media disclosure and privacy scholarship, we propose a feminist taxonomy of social media vulnerability (FSMV). The FSMV taxonomy reflects vulnerabilitysources, states, andvalences, within which we introduce the state ofnetworked vulnerability andambivalent, desired, andundesired valences. We describe how social media enable forms of vulnerability different from in-person settings, challenge framings that synonymize vulnerability with risk/harm, and facilitate interdisciplinary theory-building. Additionally, we discuss hownetworked, ambivalent, andun/desired vulnerability extend and diverge from prior work to create a theoretically rich taxonomy that is useful for future work on social media and vulnerability. Finally, we discuss implications for design related to granular control over profile, content, and privacy settings, as well as implications for platform accountability, as they pertain to social media vulnerability.

Mixed gardening is a form of traditional agroforestry whose management is carried out from generation to generation. The people of Jawapogo Village refer to mixed gardens as uma. Uma is a land management system that has been practiced by farmers and developed in the community according to local wisdom. Local wisdom is a custom and habit carried out by a group of people from generation to generation that is still maintained by indigenous peoples in certain areas. This study aimed to find out the form of local wisdom used by the Jawapogo Village community in managing uma. This research was carried out from September to November 2021 in Jawapogo Village, Nagekeo Regency. This data collection method was carried out through in-depth interviews with farmers, who were respondents, and also with traditional leaders using a questionnaire. The data is then presented descriptively using data analysis techniques, which consist of three paths: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. Based on the results of the research, traditional agroforestry management in Jawapogo Village, Nagekeo Regency, has several forms of local wisdom, namely: Lera Ie, which usually occurs the day after the funeral of a deceased person, and on that day the community is not allowed to carry out activities on the land; Ti'i Ka Ebu Kajo, which is a gift eaten to the ancestors and done before and after planting; and Voe, which means doing a work in mutual cooperation. and Mendi persembahan Lau Gereja, which means giving offerings to the church.

Gen Z students' work-integrated learning experiences and work values

PurposeThis study aims to explore the relationship between the number of co-operative (co-op) education work terms that students completed and the importance they attach to employer and job attributes (i.e. work values).Design/methodology/approachData were collected from a large cross-sectional survey of co-op students (N = 2,097) from one Canadian university.FindingsOf the 19 work values measured, only six were related to work experience. Whereas work experience was related to several of the least important work values, such as geographic location, it was unrelated to many of the most important work values, such as work–life balance. Further, evidence suggests that changes in work values occur when work experience is first introduced in the curriculum (e.g. first co-op work term), not at subsequent work experiences.Research limitations/implicationsThe findings extend the understanding of how work-integrated learning (WIL) prepares students to make decisions about their careers in the future of work and provide insights to address the challenge of scaling WIL. However, the study draws on cross-sectional data from one single Canadian university and does not explore potentially confounding factors including time itself or critical events such as the COVID-19 pandemic.Practical implicationsWIL educators may leverage these findings to improve their understanding of how students' work values evolve as they complete WIL experiences. They may also use insights from the study to align students' needs and employers' understandings of those needs.Originality/valueThis study is the first to explore how work values might change throughout a WIL program, particularly among Gen Z students whose work values seem divergent from those of previous generations.

Lifeline-based load balancing schemes for Asynchronous Many-Task runtimes in clusters

A popular approach to program scalable irregular applications is Asynchronous Many-Task (AMT) Programming. Here, programs define tasks according to task models such as dynamic independent tasks (DIT) or nested fork-join (NFJ). We consider cluster AMTs, in which a runtime system maps the tasks to worker threads in multiple processes.Thereby, dynamic load balancing can be achieved via cooperative work stealing, coordinated work stealing, or work sharing. A well-performing cooperative work stealing variant is the lifeline scheme. While previous implementations of this scheme are restricted to single-worker processes, a recent hybrid extension combines it with intra-process work sharing between multiple workers. The hybrid scheme, which was proposed for both DIT and NFJ, comes at the price of a higher complexity.This paper investigates whether this complexity is indispensable for multi-worker processes by contrasting the hybrid scheme with a novel pure work stealing extension of the lifeline scheme to multiple workers. We independently implemented the extension for DIT and NFJ. In experiments based on four benchmarks, we observed the pure scheme to be on a par or even outperform the hybrid one by up to 18% for DIT and up to 5% for NFJ.Building on this main result, we studied a modification of the pure scheme, which prefers local over global victims, and more heavily loaded over less loaded ones. The modification improves the performance of the pure scheme by up to 15%. Finally, we explored whether the lifeline scheme can profit from a change to coordinated work stealing. We developed a coordinated multi-worker implementation for DIT and observed a performance improvement over the cooperative scheme by up to 17%.

Values and Value Conflicts in the Context of OSINT Technologies for Cybersecurity Incident Response: A Value Sensitive Design Perspective

The negotiation of stakeholder values as a collaborative process throughout technology development has been studied extensively within the fields of Computer Supported Cooperative Work and Human-Computer Interaction. Despite their increasing significance for cybersecurity incident response, there is a gap in research on values of importance to the design of open-source intelligence (OSINT) technologies for this purpose. In this paper, we investigate which values and value conflicts emerge due to the application and development of machine learning (ML) based OSINT technologies to assist cyber security incident response operators. For this purpose, we employ a triangulation of methods, consisting of a systematic survey of the technical literature on the development of OSINT artefacts for cybersecurity (N = 73) and an empirical value sensitive design case study, comprising semi-structured interviews with stakeholders (N = 9) as well as a focus group (N = 7) with developers. Based on our results, we identify implications relevant to the research on and design of OSINT artefacts for cybersecurity incident response.

The purpose of this article is to substantiate socio-pedagogical technologies aimed at improving the processes of education in an educational organization in interaction with childrenʼs public associations. The focus is on the socio-pedagogical technologies of the activities of the adviser to the Director for education and interaction with childrenʼs public associations. The article clarifies the concept of “socio-pedagogical technology in the activity of an adviserˮ. Three groups of socio-pedagogical technologies are presented: the inclusion of students in socially significant social projects of childrenʼs public associations; the interaction of participants in educational relations when they are included in various public associations; the involvement of socially significant adults in educational work in cooperation with childrenʼs public associations. The theoretical idea of the relationship between the use of socio-pedagogical technologies by the adviser to the director for education and interaction with childrenʼs public associations and the education of the individual in accordance with spiritual and moral, family, socio-cultural values is substantiated.
