An analytic solution to a problem of MHD heat and mass transfer flow of an incompressible, viscous, electrically conducting, partially ionized, heat absorbing and chemically reacting fluid in the presence of thermal radiation and Hall current with ramped temperature and concentration has been presented. In the entire investigation, only the externally applied magnetic field is taken into consideration and the induced magnetic field is neglected. Laplace Transform technique in closed form is adopted to solve the governing equations of the motion describing the velocity, temperature and concentration profiles. The effects of the relevant physical parameters on these fields and also on skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are displayed and discussed through graphs.

Soret and Dufour Effects on Unsteady Free Convection Fluid Flow in the Presence of Hall Current and Heat Flux

Unsteady MHD natural convective heat and mass transfer flow through a semi-infinite vertical porous plate in a rotating system have been investigated with the combined Soret and Dufour effects in the presence of Hall current and constant heat flux. It is considered that the porous plate is subjected to constant heat flux. The obtained non-dimensional, non-similar coupled non-linear and partial differential equations have been solved by explicit finite difference technique. Numerical solutions for velocities, temperature and concentration distributions are obtained for various parameters by the above mentioned technique. The local and average shear stresses, Nusselt number as well as Sherwood number are also investigated. The stability conditions and convergence criteria of the explicit finite difference scheme are established for finding the restriction of the values of various parameters to get more accuracy. The obtained results are illustrated with the help of graphs to observe the effects of various legitimate parameters.

Effects of soret, dufour, hall current and rotation on MHD natural convective heat and mass transfer flow past an accelerated vertical plate through a porous medium

This article concentrates on the impact of Hall current, Radiation, Soret, and Dufour on an unsteady MHD Natural convective flow over an infinite vertical plate fixed in a porous media. The entire system is supposed to revolve with an unvarying angular velocity Ω′around the perpendicular to the plate and an unvarying transverse magnetic field is enforced along the normal to the plate which is coordinated in the fluid area. The solution of the non-deimensional governing equations along with the boundary conditions are solved by using effeicient Galerkin Method. The effect of different pertinent flow parameters on velocity, temperature, and concentration distributions and the numerical outcomes are examined and revealed graphically. With the increase of Sorent number the concentration profile increases and reverse trend is observed in the case of Dufour numbers. Comparision done with the recent work on exceptional instances of the problem is acquired and is seen to be in accord.

Hall effect on MHD transient free convection flow of chemically reactive Casson fluid with heat source/sink past an infinite vertical cylinder

This article presents an analytical investigation of the effect of Hall current, magnetic field, and chemical reaction on an unsteady MHD transient free convection heat and mass transfer flow of viscous incompressible, electrically conducting Casson fluid past an infinite vertical cylinder subject to heat source and sink. Closed-form solutions are obtained by employing Laplace transform and inverted using Mellin-Fourier integral and presented them in terms of Bessel functions and modified Bessel functions. To get an insight into the model, we have depicted the graphs of velocity, temperature and concentration profiles for various values of the pertinent flow parameters. The values of Sherwood number, Nusselt number, and skin friction are calculated and presented in the tabular form. Further, we have also considered a special case and investigate the velocity profiles of the Newtonian fluid for both heat source and sink as the Casson parameter α → ∞. From the investigation, it is perceived that with an increase in the values of chemical reaction parameters the species concentration and the velocity of the Casson fluid get reduced while its reverse trend has been observed on Sherwood number and skin friction. With an increase in the Prandtl number the fluid temperature decreases whereas, the Nusselt number increases. A crossing over point is observed in velocity distribution for the Hall current parameter. This fluid flow model will be applicable in geophysics, mining industry, chemical and biomedical engineering such as underground energy system, electromagnetic material production, and automotive fuel level indication, etc.

Effect of Hall Currents on Convective Heat and Mass Transfer Flow of a Viscous Electrically Conducting Fluid in A Nonuniformly Heated Vertical Channel with Radiation

In the present document we inspect the deportation study of heat and mass transfer flow of a viscous electrically conducting fluid in a vertical wavy channel under the influence of an inclined magnetic fluid with heat generating sources. The walls of the channels are perpetuated at constant temperature and concentration. The equations reign over the flow heat and concentration are solved by employing perturbation technique with a slope d of the wavy wall. The velocity, temperature and concentration distributions are investigated for a different value of Grashof number Hartmann number, Buoyancy ratio etc. The rate of heat and mass transfer are numerically estimated for a different variation of the governing parameters. It is found that higher the Lorentz force lesser the axial velocity in the flow region. An increase in the Hall parameter (m) enhances the axial velocity.

Steady natural convection heat and mass transfer flow through a vertical porous channel with variable viscosity and thermal conductivity

AbstractThe present article studies the effects of suction/injection and variable physical properties on steady natural convection flow through a vertical channel. The investigation was done analytically using Differential Transformation Method (DTM). The variability in viscosity and thermal conductivity are considered linear function of temperature. The governing equations are transformed into a set of coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations. Results obtained were compared with exact solution when some of the flow conditions were relaxed and results from DTM show an excellent agreement with the exact solution which was obtained analytically. The influence of the flow parameters on fluid temperature, concentration, and velocity are presented graphically and discussed for variations of the governing parameters. From the course of investigation, it was found that an increase in suction (S > 0) through the heated plate causes fluid temperature, velocity as well as concentration to decrease. However, an increase in injection causes heat transfer rate as well as skin friction at the heated plate to decrease.

Transient natural convention heat and mass transfer flow in a vertical channel in the presence of Soret and Dufour effects: An analytical approach

This paper presents an analytical solution for transient natural convection heat and mass transfer flow in a vertical channel with Soret and Dufour effects. Due to the presence of these two effects, energy and concentration equations are coupled. The dimensionless governing equations for momentum, energy and concentration are first decoupled using perturbation method and then solved using Laplace Transform Technique (LTT) under relevant initial and boundary conditions. The expressions for temperature, concentration, velocity, rate of heat transfer, rate of mass transfer and skin-friction are obtained. Numerical solutions are also obtained using pdepe in MATLAB so as to validate the accuracy of the proposed analytical method. The effects of Soret parameter, Dufour parameter, Grashof number, modified Grashof number, Prandtl number, Schmidt number and dimensionless time are presented graphically and discussed. It is observed that the temperature and velocity increase with increase in Dufour number, while concentration decreases with increase of Dufour number. The Dufour effect is more significant on the temperature and velocity in comparison to concentration. Moreover, it is observed that the concentration and velocity increase with increase in Soret number while the impact of Soret number is just contrast on temperature variation.

MHD free convective heat and mass transfer flow of dissipative Casson fluid with variable viscosity and thermal conductivity effects

In this paper, the Cattaneo–Christov heat flux relocation paradox on Casson fluid with MHD and dissipative effects was considered. The buoyancy and heat generation effects were believed to be responsible for the natural convection, while variable properties were perceived as temperature-dependent linear function. Under the given assumptions, the governing system of equations was formulated and transformed. Hence, the Chebyshev collocation spectral approach was therefore employed to achieve an approximate solution. However, the behaviour of temperature-dependent variability establishes the relationship between the boundary layer flow of plastic dynamic viscosity and the Casson fluid. Furthermore, it was observed that a corresponding increase in the stretching index increases the skin friction and decreases the energy and mass gradient accordingly. The relocation phenomenon contributes to a decrease in the thermal process, while the temperature gradient attained maximum within variation of the Casson parameter.

Soret and Dufour effects on transient free convention heat and mass transfer flow in a vertical channel with ramped wall temperature and specie concentration: an analytical approach

This work investigates unsteady free convection heat and mass transfer flow in a vertical channel in the presence of Soret and Dufour effects. The bounding walls and the specie are considered to have ramped temperature and ramped concentration respectively. Perturbation method is first used to decouple the governing equations that arise from the model due to the presence of combined Soret and Dufour effects. Laplace transform technique is then used to obtain an analytical solutions for the temperature, concentration and velocity. In order to cross check the accuracy of the proposed analytical method, numerical solutions are obtained using PDEPE in MATLAB. The influences of the two effects as well as the ramped boundary conditions on the fluid flow are graphically presented and discussed. The results show that these two effects and the imposed boundary conditions affect the fluid temperature, concentration, velocity, rate of heat transfer, rate of mass transfer and wall Skin friction. Moreover, it is found that the solutions obtained by the authors Jha and Gambo correspond to the results of the present work when Soret effect is absent.

Chemical reaction and Dufour effects on nonlinear free convection heat and mass transfer flow near a vertical moving porous plate

AbstractA theoretical analysis is made for steady fully developed free convection and mass transfer flow near an infinite vertical moving porous plate by taking into consideration the first‐order chemical reaction and Dufour effects. The mathematical model responsible for the present physical situation is based on the nonlinear density variation with temperature as well as nonlinear density variation with concentration. Exact solutions are derived for heat mass and momentum equations under relevant boundary conditions. The dimensionless velocity, temperature, and concentration are presented in terms of exponential functions. The impact of controlling parameters such as Dufour number (diffusion thermo effect), chemical reaction parameter, Prandlt number, Schmidt number, on velocity, temperature, Nusselt number, and skin friction are discussed with the aid of line graphs, contours, and tables. The analysis of the result shows that Nusselt number, skin friction, and velocity increases with increase in Dufour number. Furthermore, velocity and skin friction are higher in case of nonlinear convection in comparison to linear convection.

Effects of Non-Uniform Heat Generation/Absorption and Radiation on Hydromagnetic Dissipative Flow over a Porous Nonlinear Stretching Surface with Heat and Mass Fluxes

Forced convective heat and mass transfer flow of hydromagnetic, radiating and dissipative fluid over a porous nonlinear stretching sheet in the presence of non-uniform heat generation/absorption is investigated numerically. The system of nonlinear partial differential equations governing the physical problem is reduced to nonlinear ordinary differential equations by means of suitable similarity transformations and are solved numerically using Nachtsheim Swigert shooting iteration scheme together with fourth order Runge Kutta method. The effects of various physical parameters on velocity, temperature and concentration distributions are depicted graphically. The important findings of this study exhibited that the effect of non-uniform heat generation/absorption parameter and radiation parameter have significant role in controlling thermal boundary layer thickness and temperature. Numerical values of the skin friction coefficient, temperature and concentration at the wall are shown in a tabular form. A comparison is made with previously published data which results in good agreement.

MHD Casson Nanofluid Past a Stretching Sheet with the Effects of Viscous Dissipation, Chemical Reaction and Heat Source/Sink

The effects of viscous dissipation, chemical reaction and activation energy on the two-dimensional hydromagnetic convective heat and mass transfer flow of a Casson nanofluid fluid over a stretching sheet with thermal radiation, have been discussed in detail. The formulated highly nonlinear equations for the above-mentioned flow are converted into first-order ordinary differential equations (ODEs). The shooting method along with Adams-Bash forth Moulton method is used to solve the BVP by using the Fortran language program. The numerical results are computed by choosing different values of the involved physical parameters and compared with earlier published results and excellent validation of the present numerical results has been achieved for local Nusselt number and local Sherwood number. The graphical numerical results of different physical quantities of interest are presented to analyze their dynamics under the varying physical quantities. From the results, it has been remarked that the heat transfer rate escalates for the large values of radiation parameter, viscous dissipation for the Casson nanofluid.

The effects of radiation and chemical reaction on MHD mixed convective flow and mass transfer from a vertical surface with Ohmic heating and viscous dissipation

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to address the combined effects of thermal radiation and chemical reaction on steady MHD mixed convective heat and mass transfer flow past a vertical surface under the influence of Joule and viscous dissipation.Design/methodology/approachThe governing system of partial differential equations is transformed to dimensionless equations using dimensionless variables. The dimensionless equations are then solved analytically using perturbation technique.FindingsWith the help of graphs, the effects of the various important parameters entering into the problem on the dimensionless velocity, dimensionless temperature and dimensionless concentration fields within the boundary layer are discussed. The authors noticed that the velocity increases with an increase in the porosity parameter. An increase in the Prandtl number Pr, decreases the velocity and the temperature field. An increase in the radiation parameter, decreases the velocity and the temperature field. Also the effects of the pertinent parameters on the skin-friction coefficient and rates of heat and mass transfer in terms of the Nusselt and Sherwood numbers are presented numerically in tabular form.Originality/valueTo the best of the authors’ knowledge, recent this work has not been finished by any other researchers.
