Humans do not optimize all of their brain's abilities, in general, humans only use 1% of their brain's abilities on average. 99% of the capabilities of the human brain can be accessed from super conscious awareness by practicing meditation. The purpose of this study was to find out the types and steps of meditation contained in the Patanjali Yoga Sutras to access self-awareness so that the human body, mind and spirit can function optimally. Meditation helps relax the muscles and nerves because the senses and mind focus on one object while meditating. In the Patanjali Yoga Sutras it is stated that meditation is able to overcome the turmoil of the mind, so that it is able to see the true self, with regular meditation the mind becomes a friend. This research is of a qualitative type with psychological, theological, and phenomonological approaches. Data collection methods in this study are observation, literature study, interviews, and documentation. The analysis strategy in this research is descriptive qualitative analysis. From the results of this study it can be concluded that the meditation contained in the Patanjali Yoga Sutras consists of 4 types, namely, chakra meditation, so-ham meditation, pranayama meditation and turya meditation (super conscious)
