IMPLEMENTASI KESELAMATAN DAN KESEHATAN KERJA PADA PEKERJAAN PEMELIHARAAN RUTIN JALAN NASIONAL BLANGKEJEREN – LAWEAUNAN SECARA SWAKELOLA

Routine maintenance on the Blangkejeren - Laweaunan road is done by self-managed and continuously every year with road length 65 Km. The committing officer undertakes work with the subcontractor who is deemed capable of carrying out the work and provides wages to the foreman who is a resident. To avoid risks, the Committing Officer undertakes the implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health Management System (OSHMS). Therefore, this study aims to identify the level of OSH risk in routine road maintenance work, identify the level of compliance of subcontractors and workforce employees in OSH implementation on routine maintenance work, and identify the selection of service providers in each routine road maintenance work. The identification of OSH risk level is made based on the Minister of Public Works Regulation no. 05/PRT/M/2014 criteria, and data collected by interviewing the owner's personal. Identification of labor compliance rates of subcontractors and foremen is based on Construction and Building Guidelines No. 004/BM/2006, judged from the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The analysis method used in this study is descriptive analysis. The result from the analysis indicates that the level of OSH risk in routine national road maintenance work for the routine maintenance of pavement, routine road shoulder maintenance, and routine maintenance of road equipment has a low risk. Whereas in routine maintenance work of sewer, drainage, trenching and heap have a medium risk. Labor compliance from subcontractors has shown a higher percentage about 59% compared to 40% for labor compliance from the foreman. It means that most of the subcontracted workforce is compliant, and almost half the workforce of the foremen adheres to the use of PPE. У статті розглянуто теоретичні підходи до побудови системи комплаєнс-контролю як елемента внутрішнього корпоративного управління. У банківській діяльності комплаєнс є невід’ємною частиною функції внутрішнього контролю, мета якої захист інтересів інвесторів, банків та їхніх клієнтів за рахунок дотримання співробітниками положень чинного законодавства, вимог органів нагляду, а також документів, які визначають внутрішню політику та процедури. Досліджено необхідність його запровадження в діяльність банківських установ та фінансових організацій з метою убезпечення від комплаєнс-ризиків.

Charismatic and corrective leadership dimensions as antecedents of employee safety behaviours

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to investigate idealised influence under transformational leadership and active management-by-exception (MBE-A) under transactional leadership as the predictors of employee safety behaviours among engineers and technicians in the Ghanaian power transmission subsector.Design/methodology/approachThe study employed a cross-sectional survey design and a quantitative approach to gather data from 278 respondents through the use of a structured questionnaire. Covariance-based structural equation modelling was used to analyse the data and test the hypotheses with 264 usable responses.FindingsThe analysis revealed that idealised influence had positive significant effects on both safety compliance and safety participation of employees. Surprisingly, MBE-A had a positive influence on safety participation but not on safety compliance.Practical implicationsThe findings of this study present useful practical implications for leaders and policy makers in organisations in engendering good safety behaviours of employees and improving overall organisational safety performance.Originality/valueThe variables used in the study together with the study’s Ghanaian bureaucratic context present interesting and fresh insights into the interplay between leadership and employee safety, thereby contributing to the discourse on the safety leadership construct.

Analysis of Factors Affecting Employee Compliance to the Non-Smoking Area Policy at the Police Station in Palembang

Latar Belakang : Merokok menimbulkan berbagai permasalahan dalam kehidupan baik dari aspek kesehatan, ekonomi maupun aspek sosial budaya. Merokok tidak hanya membahayakan kesehatan si perokoknya saja, tetapi juga orang-orang yang ada di sekitarnya. Dalam upaya penanggulangan bahaya akibat merokok pemerintah Kota Palembang telah memiliki Peraturan Daerah No.7 tahun 2009 tentang Kawasan Tanpa Rokok yang bertujuan untuk memberikan perlindungan yang efektif dari bahaya paparan asap rokok orang lain, memberikan ruang dan lingkungan bersih dan sehat bagi masyarakat, dan melindungi kesehatan masyarakat secara umum dari dampak buruk merokok baik langsung maupun tidak langsung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas peraturan daerah berdasarkan analisis faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kepatuhan pegawai pada pelaksanaan kebijakan kawasan tanpa rokok di kantor Satpol PP. Metode : Metode kuantitatif desain cross sectional, jumlah sampel sebanyak 158 pegawai diambil berdasarkan accidental sampling, Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji chi square dan regresi logistik ganda. Hasil Penelitian : peraturan daerah belum efektif, hal ini dibuktikan rendahnya kepatuhan pegawai terhadap kebijakan kawasan tanpa rokok sebesar 30,4 %, terdapat pengaruh antara pengetahuan tentang peraturan daerah (p=0,000 ), pengetahuan tentang bahaya rokok (p=0,000 ), tanda larangan merokok (p=0,000 ), penerapan sanksi (p=0,000 ), dukungan atasan (p=0,000) terhadap kepatuhan pegawai terhadap kebijakan kawasan tanpa rokok. Kepatuhan pegawai Satuan Polisi Pamong Praja Kota Palembang masih rendah yaitu 30,4 %. penerapan sanksi (OR=8,695) adalah faktor yang paling dominan berpengaruh terhadap kepatuhan pegawai pada pelaksanaan kebijakan kawasan tanpa rokok.

Barriers to the Adoption of Wearable Sensors in the Workplace: A Survey of Occupational Safety and Health Professionals.

To gather information on the (a) types of wearable sensors, particularly personal activity monitors, currently used by occupational safety and health (OSH) professionals; (b) potential benefits of using such technologies in the workplace; and (c) perceived barriers preventing the widespread adoption of wearable sensors in industry. Wearable sensors are increasingly being promoted as a means to improve employee health and well-being, and there is mounting evidence supporting their use as exposure assessment and personal health tools. Despite this, many workplaces have been hesitant to adopt these technologies. An electronic survey was emailed to 28,428 registered members of the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) and 1,302 professionals certified by the Board of Certification in Professional Ergonomics (BCPE). A total of 952 valid responses were returned. Over half of respondents described being in favor of using wearable sensors to track OSH-related risk factors and relevant exposure metrics at their respective workplaces. However, barriers including concerns regarding employee privacy/confidentiality of collected data, employee compliance, sensor durability, the cost/benefit ratio of using wearables, and good manufacturing practice requirements were described as challenges precluding adoption. The broad adoption of wearable technologies appears to depend largely on the scientific community's ability to successfully address the identified barriers. Investigators may use the information provided to develop research studies that better address OSH practitioner concerns and help technology developers operationalize wearable sensors to improve employee health and well-being.

Cognitive‐affective drivers of employees' daily compliance with information security policies: A multilevel, longitudinal study

AbstractWe present a model of employee compliance with information security policy (ISP) that (1) explicates stable, cognitive beliefs regarding the consequences of compliance and noncompliance as well as state‐based affective constructs, namely, positive and negative mood states and episodic, security‐related work‐impediment events, and (2) provides an expanded conceptualisation of moral considerations and normative influences regarding employees' ISP compliance. Because affect is central to this theorisation, we ensure that the model captures and explains differences in day‐to‐day affective constructs to account for the often fleeting nature of affective states. We test our multilevel model using an experience‐sampling methodology design, in which employees completed daily surveys over a 2‐week period, followed by a hierarchal linear modelling statistical assessment. Our contribution to theory is a unique account of ISP compliance that integrates affective factors with constructs from rational choice theory and theory of planned behaviour and that diverges from prior conceptualisations of ISP compliance as a purely stable and reason‐based phenomenon. For practitioners, our results suggest that a combination of cognitive and affective influences may produce discrete episodes of ISP compliance that do not coincide with prior behavioural trends.

Effect of work status on healthy life style among staffs of Kufa University

This study aims to determine the effect of the work status on the healthy lifestyle among staffs of Kufa university, An correlation descriptive design is carried out through the present study in order to achieve the early stated objectives. The period of study is from 1 Feb. 2016 to 20 April 2016, A non-probability (convenience sample) of (100) employee in university of Kufa. Result: the result of study shows the majority result for age 30-39 years with (41%), regarding the gender (67%) for female, level of education more than half sample study university level with (51%), and for work status the majority result for part-time with (64%), the body mass index table that most of the study sample were to have over weight (52%), The results of the stress table show for the first item of the majority was no (66%), item two was majority Yes (63%), item three the majority result for no (85%), item fourth majority result for no (88%), item five the majority for no(95%),item six the majority result no (80%),item seven no(65%),item eight the majority for no (58%), item nine the majority for no (52%).The study concluded that the work status affects the employee life style and this effect present through the studied life style domains and the study findings reveal that there is a deficit in the employee compliance with life style measures. And it’s recommended further studies should be conducted to involve a large sample in a national level to make the results more generalizable. And a mass media should be used to increase the employee knowledge about the importance of improving the life style and quality of life through health promotion, health protection, and disease prevention strategies.

Human Resource Management and Security Policy Compliance

Given the regulatory requirements imposed on organizations within numerous industries, research in the area of employee compliance with organizational security and privacy regulations remains necessary and highly desirable. Therefore, the objective of this study provides a unique framework for understanding the influence of HRM practices on individual security policy compliance outcomes. The unit of analysis for this research project is the individual employee of a bank organization. With the survey of 257 bank employees, a components-based approach to structural equation modeling was taken. The results of this study indicate that developmental-oriented appraisal, externally or internally equitable reward, selective staffing and training for career development are positively associated with employees' behavioral intent to comply security policy through their affective commitment.

Why not comply with information security? An empirical approach for the causes of non-compliance

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to empirically investigate the negative casual relationships between organizational security factors (security systems, security education, and security visibility) and individual non-compliance causes (work impediment, security system anxiety, and non-compliance behaviors of peers), which have negative influences on compliance intention.Design/methodology/approachBased on literature review, the authors propose a research model together with hypotheses. The survey questionnaires were developed to collect data, which then validated the measurement model. The authors collected 415 responses from employees at manufacturing and service firms that had already implemented security policies. The hypothesized relationships were tested using the structural equation model approach with AMOS 18.0.FindingsSurvey results validate that work impediment, security system anxiety, and non-compliance peer behaviors are the causes of employee non-compliance. In addition, the authors found that security systems, security education, and security visibility decrease instances of non-compliance.Research limitations/implicationsOrganizations should establish a mixture of security investment in their systems, education, and visibility in order to effectively reduce employees’ non-compliance. In addition, organizations should recognize the importance of minimizing the particular causes of employees’ non-compliance to positively increase intentions to comply with information security.Originality/valueAn important issue in information security management is employee compliance. Understanding the reasons behind employees’ non-compliance is a critical issue. This paper investigates empirically why employees do not comply, and how organizations can induce employees to comply by a mixture of investments in security systems, education, and visibility.

Usually these factors are represented by normalized numbers (e.g. 0-100%) and maximizing or minimizing them is equivalent to making progress toward operational or strategic goals of the organization. Different KPIs of variable levels of complexity exist, rating factors such as customer and employee satisfaction, compliance, security or economic success. This article focuses on KPIs closely related to process operations like production performance, energy consumption, availability and safety. These KPIs are mainly based on measurable process data.

Effect of Application of E-Government on the Staff Performance in the Greater Amman Municipality A Field Study

<p>This study aims to identify effect of application of e-government with its dimensions (cost reduction, HR efficiency, transparency, and service quality) on the job performance with its dimensions (task completion, job loyalty and staff compliance) in the Greater Amman Municipality. The study uses the descriptive analytical method (theoretical and field), and (245) questionnaires were distributed to all administrative staff in the Municipality. The study shows a number of results; the most important of which are that there is an evident effect of application of e-government on the staff performance, compliance of employees with regulations and instructions, and the transactions are characterized by accuracy and quality unlike the situation in the past. The study recommends that it is necessary to increase incentives so that staff's loyalty gets greater, and that it is important to make ongoing improvement to maintain the present distinct performance level.</p>

조직구성원의 정보보안 정책 준수의도: 계획된 행동이론, 목표설정이론, 억제이론의 적용

정보보안의 중요성의 증대에 따라, 조직은 정보보안을 위한 정책 개발 및 기술 도입을 위한 지속적인 투자를 하고 있다. 조직 내부의 보안 수준을 높이기 위해서는 조직원들의 보안 준수의도 향상을 위한 조직 차원의 체계적인 지원이 필요하다. 본 연구는 조직의 보안 정책 기획 및 실행에 있어, 조직원의 보안 준수를 개선시킬 수 있는 방법으로서, 보안 정책 목표 설정 및 제재 실행을 제시하고, 조직원의 보안 준수의도를 설명하는 계획된 행동이론(Theory of Planned Behavior)와의 연관 관계를 검증하고자 한다. 연구가설 검증을 위하여 구조방정식 모델링을 사용하며, 정보보안 정책이 도입되어 있는 조직의 조직원들을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였다. 346개의 응답을 기반으로 가설을 검증하였다. 결과는 목표 설정 수준과 제재 실행 수준이 조직원들의 준수의도에 영향을 주는 선행 변수들인 자기효능감과 대처효능감에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였다. 결과적으로, 본 연구는 조직원의 보안 준수의도 향상을 위해서 보안정책 목표 설정의 중요성과 제재의 실행의 중요성을 제시함으로써, 조직 내 정보보안부서가 수행해야할 효과적인 조직 보안을 위한 전략적 행동 방향을 제시하였다. In accordance with the increase of the importance of information security, organizations are making continuous investments to develop policies and adapt technology for information security. Organization should provide systemized support to enhance employees' security compliance intention in order to increase the degree of organization's internal security. This research suggests security policy goal setting and sanction enforcement as a method to improve employees' security compliance in planning and enforcing organization's security policy, and verifies the influencing relationship of Theory of Planned Behavior which explains employee's security compliance intention. We use structural equation modeling to verify the research hypotheses, and conducted a survey on the employees of organization with information security policy. We verified the hypotheses based on 346 responses. The result shows that the degree of goal setting and sanction enforcement has positive influence on self-efficacy and coping efficacy which are antecedents that influence employees' compliance intention. As a result, this research suggested directions for strategic approach for enhancing employee's compliance intention on organization's security policy.

Taking food safety to the next level—An augmented reality solution

ABSTRACTFood safety training is utilized in the food industry to provide employees with the needed knowledge on how to prevent foodborne illnesses. However, although there is evidence that current food safety training is effective in increasing employee knowledge, employees’ observed behaviors often do not change and, therefore, the risk of foodborne illness is not decreased. In this review we discuss several motivational theories and propose a unique use of augmented reality for training to increase compliance of employees in regards to safe handling of foods.

An agent-based model to study compliance with safety regulations at an airline ground service organization

According to aviation statistics, most of the safety occurrences happen not in the air, but on the ground. Management of airlines and airports often consider failures to comply with safety-related regulations as important contributors to safety occurrences. To address the issue of compliance, approaches based on external regulation of the employees' behavior were proposed. Unfortunately, an externally imposed control is often not internalized by employees and has a short-term effect on their performance. To achieve a long-term effect, employees need to be internally motivated to adhere to regulations. To understand the role of motivation for compliance in ground service organizations, in this paper a formal agent-based model is proposed based on theories from social science with a wide empirical support. The model incorporates cognitive, social, and organizational aspects. The model was simulated and partially validated by a case study performed at a real airline ground service organization. The model was able to reproduce behavioral patterns related to compliance of the platform employees in this study. Based on the model, global sensitivity analysis was performed. The results of this analysis together with the simulation results were used to generate recommendations to improve compliance.

Evaluation of food safety related behaviors of retail and food service employees while handling fresh and fresh-cut leafy greens

Foodborne illness outbreaks are often associated with fresh and fresh-cut produce (specifically leafy greens); however, effective training and methods of prevention have not been readily available for the retail and food service industry. The objective of this study was to assess and evaluate the current state of compliance and employee handling practices for fresh and fresh-cut produce, and to identify factors influencing employees' fresh and fresh-cut handling practices using an observational survey tool. A total of sixteen restaurants and fifteen grocery stores in Texas and Ohio were observed. The results revealed low compliance of employees' leafy green handling practices such as improper use of thermometers, lack of documentation, and poor employee hygiene. Statistical analysis results suggested that employees' food safety behaviors vary based on several factors such as operation size, cuisine, and operation type. The results of the study will provide practical guidelines for training employees handling leafy green produce at fresh and fresh-cut packing facilities, produce distribution centers, grocery stores, and restaurants.

The Benefits and Challenges of the Influenza Vaccination Among Home Health Care Workers

Home health care agencies provide services to some of the most vulnerable patients and must encourage influenza vaccinations of their employees. The current study assessed the impact of increasing employee compliance with vaccinations and aimed to determine why certain employees refuse vaccinations. This was an observational study that looked at employee vaccination rates, employee sick days, and responses to an employee survey of those who refused vaccinations. Data were collected at a large not-for-profit home health care agency in the northeast that provides services primarily to Medicare patients. Vaccination compliance and sick days information were collected on all employees of the home care agency over three flu seasons (2012-2015). Survey data were collected on employees ( n = 240) who refused the influenza vaccination during the 2014-2015 flu season. The agency more than doubled vaccination rates from 38% to 88% and found a corresponding reduction in staff sick time. By surveying the “refusers,” it was found that the common reasons for avoiding vaccinations were beliefs of not being in a high-risk group, not needing vaccine, being healthy and never getting the flu, and not liking injections. It is clear that a concerted effort to increase employee influenza vaccination rates can be successful and possibly decrease staff sick days. However, there seems to be a small group of employees who refuse vaccination. Better education of these employees should help eliminate the common reasons people decline vaccination.

Frontline Service Employee Compliance With Customer Special Requests

As companies struggle to deliver excellent service, many find they need to understand and plan for a diverse array of customer requests. Some requests are unexpected and require employees to go beyond their usual job duties. These requests may be classified as special requests. Knowing how and when to comply with these requests is critical to the firm and the employee, given that failing to comply could negatively affect customer satisfaction, while complying may produce unwanted consequences for the firm. We use grounded theory and content analysis of critical incident special requests from frontline employees to develop a framework and classification scheme that categorizes customer special requests and employee assessments of these requests. Customer special requests were classified into four types of customer deficiencies—physical resources, knowledge, financial, and time. Employee assessments were categorized as positive compliance factors (motivations and ability) or deterrents to compliance, including policy or legal, potential risk, and lack of resources. These findings contribute to theory, as they represent the first effort to categorize customer special requests and employee responses to them. Companies need to be better informed about the types of requests employees receive so that employees can make the most appropriate decisions.

Leader communication approaches and patient safety: An integrated model

IntroductionLeader communication is known to influence a number of employee behaviors. When it comes to the relationship between leader communication and safety, the evidence is more scarce and ambiguous. The aim of the present study is to investigate whether and in what way leader communication relates to safety outcomes. The study examines two leader communication approaches: leader safety priority communication and feedback to subordinates. These approaches were assumed to affect safety outcomes via different employee behaviors. MethodQuestionnaire data, collected from 221 employees at two hospital wards, were analyzed using structural equation modeling. ResultsThe two examined communication approaches were both positively related to safety outcomes, although leader safety priority communication was mediated by employee compliance and feedback communication by organizational citizenship behaviors. ConclusionThe findings suggest that leader communication plays a vital role in improving organizational and patient safety and that different communication approaches seem to positively affect different but equally essential employee safety behaviors. Practical applicationsThe results highlights the necessity for leaders to engage in one-way communication of safety values as well as in more relational feedback communication with their subordinates in order to enhance patient safety.
