Insertion of lattice-valued functions for some topological spaces

In [14] and [8], insertion theorems for normal spaces by lattice-valued functions were obtained which extend the well known Katětov-Tong insertion theorem. As a monotone version, some analogous results for monotonically normal spaces were presented in [16]. In this paper, we consider insertion of lattice-valued functions for some other spaces such as stratifiable spaces and MCP-spaces. The results obtained extend some corresponding insertion theorems formulated with real-valued functions in literature.

Crataegus sinaica defatted methanolic extract ameliorated monosodium iodoacetate-induced oxidative stress andinhibited inflammation in a rat model of osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint disease without definite treatment. It is characterized by intra-articular inflammation, cartilage degeneration, subchondral bone remodeling, and joint pain. The objective of the current study was to assess the anti-osteoarthritic effect and the possible underlying mechanism of action of Crataegus sinaica extract (CSE). Intra-articular injection of monosodium iodoacetate in the right knee joint of all rats was done except for the sham group. One week later, the anti-inflammatory efficacy of CSE (100, 200, 300 mg/kg, daily p.o) for 4 successive weeks versus ibuprofen (40 mg/kg, p.o) was assessed. Serum inflammatory cytokines; as well as weekly assessment of knee joint swelling, joint mobility, and motor coordination were done. At the end of the experiment, a histopathological investigation of the affected knee joints and an x-ray investigation were also executed. CSE significantly decreased joint swelling, pain behaviors, and serum levels of TNF-α, IL6, hyaluronic acid, and CTX-II. The radiographic findings revealed almost normal joint space with normal radiodensity and diameter in CSE-treated rats. As well, the histopathological and immunohistochemical investigations of the knee joints in CSE-treated groups retained the cartilage structure of knee joints. A significant reduction in the percentage of caspase-3-stained chondrocytes and a decrease in TGF-β1 immuno-positive areas in the synovial lining and sub lining were recorded in CSE-treated rats, compared to the osteoarthritis control group. This study approved the chondroprotective effects of CSE, and its ability to inhibit the pain associated with osteoarthritis.

Third-trimester ultrasound for antenatal diagnosis of placenta accreta spectrum in women with placenta previa: results from the ADoPAD study.

ABSTRACTObjectiveTo evaluate the performance of third‐trimester ultrasound for the diagnosis of clinically significant placenta accreta spectrum disorder (PAS) in women with low‐lying placenta or placenta previa.MethodsThis was a prospective multicenter study of pregnant women aged ≥ 18 years who were diagnosed with low‐lying placenta (< 20 mm from the internal cervical os) or placenta previa (covering the internal cervical os) on ultrasound at ≥ 26 + 0 weeks' gestation, between October 2014 and January 2019. Ultrasound suspicion of PAS was raised in the presence of at least one of these signs on grayscale ultrasound: (1) obliteration of the hypoechogenic space between the uterus and the placenta; (2) interruption of the hyperechogenic interface between the uterine serosa and the bladder wall; (3) abnormal placental lacunae. Histopathological examinations were performed according to a predefined protocol, with pathologists blinded to the ultrasound findings. To assess the ability of ultrasound to detect clinically significant PAS, a composite outcome comprising the need for active management at delivery and histopathological confirmation of PAS was considered the reference standard. PAS was considered to be clinically significant if, in addition to histological confirmation, at least one of these procedures was carried out after delivery: use of hemostatic intrauterine balloon, compressive uterine suture, peripartum hysterectomy, uterine/hypogastric artery ligation or uterine artery embolization. The diagnostic performance of each ultrasound sign for clinically significant PAS was evaluated in all women and in the subgroup who had at least one previous Cesarean section and anterior placenta. Post‐test probability was assessed using Fagan nomograms.ResultsA total of 568 women underwent transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound examinations during the study period. Of these, 95 delivered in local hospitals, and placental pathology according to the study protocol was therefore not available. Among the 473 women for whom placental pathology was available, clinically significant PAS was diagnosed in 99 (21%), comprising 36 cases of placenta accreta, 19 of placenta increta and 44 of placenta percreta. The median gestational age at the time of ultrasound assessment was 31.4 (interquartile range, 28.6–34.4) weeks. A normal hypoechogenic space between the uterus and the placenta reduced the post‐test probability of clinically significant PAS from 21% to 5% in women with low‐lying placenta or placenta previa in the third trimester of pregnancy and from 62% to 9% in the subgroup with previous Cesarean section and anterior placenta. The absence of placental lacunae reduced the post‐test probability of clinically significant PAS from 21% to 9% in women with low‐lying placenta or placenta previa in the third trimester of pregnancy and from 62% to 36% in the subgroup with previous Cesarean section and anterior placenta. When abnormal placental lacunae were seen on ultrasound, the post‐test probability of clinically significant PAS increased from 21% to 59% in the whole cohort and from 62% to 78% in the subgroup with previous Cesarean section and anterior placenta. An interrupted hyperechogenic interface between the uterine serosa and bladder wall increased the post‐test probability for clinically significant PAS from 21% to 85% in women with low‐lying placenta or placenta previa and from 62% to 88% in the subgroup with previous Cesarean section and anterior placenta. When all three sonographic markers were present, the post‐test probability for clinically significant PAS increased from 21% to 89% in the whole cohort and from 62% to 92% in the subgroup with previous Cesarean section and anterior placenta.ConclusionsGrayscale ultrasound has good diagnostic performance to identify pregnancies at low risk of PAS in a high‐risk population of women with low‐lying placenta or placenta previa. Ultrasound may be safely used to guide management decisions and concentrate resources on patients with higher risk of clinically significant PAS. © 2022 The Authors. Normal spaces associated with fuzzy nano M -open sets and its application

In this paper, we introduce some new spaces called fuzzy nano \( M \) normal spaces and strongly fuzzy nano \( M \) normal spaces with the help of fuzzy nano \( M \) open sets in fuzzy nano topological space. Also, find their relations among themselves and with already existing spaces. Also, we study some basic properties and the characterizations of these normal spaces. The stated properties are quantified with numerical data. Furthermore, an algorithm for Multiple Attribute Decision-Making (MADM) with an application regarding candidates choose their works by using fuzzy nano topological spaces is developed.

The aim of this paper is to introduce new types of dimension functions which are sf-covering.dimension,sf-dim X, and sf-local dimension, sf-loc dim X , by using semi feebly open (sf-open) sets, with examples and theorems. The relationships between them and other concepts will be studied like - -space, -regular space and -normal space.

The Influence of Different Row Spacing and Weed Control Intervals on Weed Infestation and Yield-Related Traits of American (Gossypium hirsutum L.) and Desi (Gossypium arboreum) Cotton

Narrow row spacing has attracted significant attention due to its beneficial impacts on weed management in cotton. This study compared the effects of normal and ultra-narrow row spacing on critical periods of weed control in American (Gossypium hirsutum L.) and ‘Desi’ (Gossypium arboreum) cotton. Two different row spacings (i.e., recommended (75 cm) and ultra-narrow (30 cm)) and three weed control intervals (i.e., weed control at 30, 60 and 90 days after sowing (DAS)) were included in the study. Weedy-check and weed-free treatments were included in the experiment as controls for comparison. ‘Desi’ cotton grown under ultra-narrow spacing recorded the lowest weed density and individual density of Trianthema portulacastarum L., Cyperus rotundus L., Cynodon dactylon L., Echinochloa colona (L.) Link and Digera muricata (L.) Mart. Moreover, ‘Desi’ cotton sown under ultra-narrow spacing with weed-free and weed control at 30 DAS resulted in the highest leaf area index (LAI), leaf area duration (LAD), net assimilation late (NAR), root elongation rate (RER) and root growth rate (RGR) at all sampling dates. Likewise, ‘desi’ cotton sown under recommended row spacing and weed-free conditions produced the highest number of sympodial and monopodial branches, number of flowers and bolls per plant, whereas the highest seed cotton yield of ‘Desi’ cotton was noted under ultra-narrow spacing and weed-free conditions. It is concluded that sowing both cotton types in ultra-narrow row spacing and controlling weeds at 30 DAS will result in lower weed infestation and higher seed cotton yield.

On Intuitionistic Fuzzy β Generalized α Normal Spaces

In this paper a new concept of generalized intuitionistic fuzzy topological space called intuitionistic fuzzy β generalized α normal space is introduced. Several characterizations of intuitionistic fuzzy β generalized α normal space, intuitionistic fuzzy strongly β generalized α normal and intuitionistic fuzzy strongly β generalized α regular spaces are studied. Moreover, the related intuitionistic fuzzy functions with intuitionistic fuzzy β generalized α normal spaces are investigated.

Infinite families of manifolds of positive kmathrm{th}-intermediate Ricci curvature with k small

Positive kmathrm{th}-intermediate Ricci curvature on a Riemannian n-manifold, to be denoted by {{,mathrm{Ric},}}_k>0, is a condition that interpolates between positive sectional and positive Ricci curvature (when k =1 and k=n-1 respectively). In this work, we produce many examples of manifolds of {{,mathrm{Ric},}}_k>0 with k small by examining symmetric and normal homogeneous spaces, along with certain metric deformations of fat homogeneous bundles. As a consequence, we show that every dimension nge 7 congruent to 3,{{,mathrm{mod},}}4 supports infinitely many closed simply connected manifolds of pairwise distinct homotopy type, all of which admit homogeneous metrics of {{,mathrm{Ric},}}_k>0 for some k<n/2. We also prove that each dimension nge 4 congruent to 0 or 1,{{,mathrm{mod},}}4 supports closed manifolds which carry metrics of {{,mathrm{Ric},}}_k>0 with kle n/2, but do not admit metrics of positive sectional curvature.

Connes spectral distance and nonlocality of generalized noncommutative phase spaces

We study the Connes spectral distance of quantum states and analyse the nonlocality of a 4D generalized noncommutative phase space. By virtue of the Hilbert–Schmidt operatorial formulation, we obtain the Dirac operator and construct a spectral triple corresponding to the noncommutative phase space. Based on the ball condition, we obtain some constraint relations about the optimal elements, and then calculate the Connes spectral distance between two Fock states. Due to the noncommutativity, the spectral distances between Fock states in generalized noncommutative phase spaces are shorter than those in normal phase spaces. This shortening of distances implies some type of nonlocality caused by the noncommutativity. These spectral distances in the 4D generalized noncommutative phase space are additive and satisfy the normal Pythagoras theorem. When the noncommutative parameters go to zero, the results return to those in normal quantum phase spaces.

The Space-Time Meshless Methods for the Solution of One-Dimensional Klein-Gordon Equations

A simple direct space-time meshless scheme, based on the radial or non-radial basis function, is proposed for the one-dimensional Klein-Gordon equations. Since these equations are time-dependent, it is worthwhile to present two schemes for the basis functions from radial and non-radial aspects. The first scheme is fulfilled by considering time variable as normal space variable, to construct an "isotropic" space-time radial basis function. The other scheme considered a realistic relationship between space variable and time variable which is not radial. The time-dependent variable is treated regularly during the whole solution process and the Klein-Gordon equations can be solved in a direct way. Numerical results show that the proposed meshless schemes are simple, accurate, stable, easy-to-program and efficient for the Klein-Gordon equations.

Experimental analysis of the multiaxial failure stress locus of commercially pure titanium at low and high rates of strain

The mechanical response and failure mechanism of commercially pure titanium subjected to combined tension-torsion loading are studied experimentally at strain rates ranging from 10−3s−1 to 103s−1. A novel tension-torsion split Hopkinson bar (TTHB) equipped with a high speed camera was utilised during high-rate experiments, while quasi-static tests were conducted using a universal screw-driven machine. The multiaxial dynamic experiments demonstrate the ability of the developed TTHB apparatus to achieve synchronisation of longitudinal and torsional waves upon loading the specimen, to satisfy the dynamic equilibrium of the specimen and to attain constant strain rate loading. The failure envelope of commercially pure titanium was analysed over a wide range of stress states including pure torsion, shear-dominated combined tension-shear, tension-dominated combined tension-shear, and plain tension. The analyses of the loading paths show that these were nearly proportional in terms of strain. The multiaxial failure stress locus was constructed in the normal versus shear stress space from experiments conducted at low and high rates of strain.The Drucker-Prager criterion was employed to approximate the failure envelope and to assess its rate sensitivity. The failure stress locus of commercially pure titanium and its rate dependence are reported for the first time. The TTHB apparatus developed allows the definition of the failure stress locus of aerospace materials directly from experiments and, therefore, the evaluation of the existing failure/yielding criteria.

Sequential Reliability Analysis for the Adjusting Mechanism of Tail Nozzle Considering Wear Degradation

The adjusting mechanism is an important part of an aero engine, and the wear degradation of clearance is widely present in its hinges. In this work, an adjusting mechanism with hinge clearance is analyzed by dynamic simulation and the wear depth is predicted precisely using a wear model. Based on that, a sequential reliability analysis of motion accuracy is carried out. In order to avoid the expensive computational cost of simulation, the adaptive radial-based importance sampling method combined with the adaptive Kriging model (AK-ARBIS) is employed, which describes the decrease of reliability in the standard normal space sphere by sphere with the updated Kriging model. To further utilize the information about each state of wear degradation, the advanced AK-ARBIS method is investigated. Through analytical examples of two typical mechanisms and the engineering application of the adjustment mechanism, the results show that the calculation cost of the sequential reliability analysis under different states can be effectively reduced.

In this paper, we discuss various results about variation of the local fundamental group of normal complex spaces. It is proved that the finite Galois descent of upper semicontinuity of the local fundamental group holds at a factorial complex analytic germ. We also show by an example that finite Galois descent of upper semicontinuity of the local first homology group at a smooth germ is not true in general. We prove that the local fundamental groups of a normal complex algebraic variety are finite in number upto isomorphism.

Effectiveness of root canal instrumentation for the treatment of apical periodontitis: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

The development of endodontic instruments has rapidly advanced, but their impact on endodontic outcome parameters remains unclear. This systematic review aimed to answer the following PICOT questions: In patients with apical periodontitis (P) what is the effectiveness of root canal instrumentation ([Q1] performed with contemporary techniques [I] in comparison with 'traditional' techniques [C]] and ([Q2] performed with contemporary engine-driven NiTi instruments [I] compared with other types of contemporary engine-driven NiTi instruments [with different design and/or technology] [C]) in terms of clinical and patient-related outcomes (O)? After PROSPERO protocol registration, a literature search was conducted using Clarivate Analytics' Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials. Grey literature and major journal contents were examined. Two independent reviewers performed the study selection, data extraction and appraisal of included studies. A quantitative meta-analysis was considered, and statistical heterogeneity and overall quality of evidence were assessed. Nine studies were identified showing substantial methodological differences. Five studies addressed PICOT 1 and three PICOT 2, whereas one study aimed both. A random-effects meta-analysis model was considered for the outcome 'radiographic evidence of normal periodontal ligament space or reduction of apical lesion size' (PICOT 1) based on three studies with 332 evaluable participants and showed that contemporary instrumentation was associated with a more favourable outcome (p=.005) compared with root canal preparation with stainless steel instruments (odds ratio=2.07 [95%-confidence interval=1.25-3.44]) with no evidence of statistical heterogeneity (I2 = 0%) but low quality of evidence. Albeit a few studies fulfilled eligible criteria, no study had a low risk of bias. Compelling evidence indicating significantly different outcome rates using different endodontic instruments when treating teeth with apical periodontitis is lacking. In terms of healing, the results of the meta-analysis determined the higher effectiveness of root canal instrumentation performed with contemporary techniques in comparison with conventional stainless steel instruments in patients with apical periodontitis followed for a minimum of 1year with low quality of evidence. No differences could be demonstrated between preparations with traditional stainless steel and contemporary NiTi instruments for other clinical and patient-related outcomes. Spectral and spatial distribution of subthalamic beta peak activity in Parkinson's disease patients

Current efforts to optimise subthalamic deep brain stimulation in Parkinson's disease patients aim to harness local oscillatory activity in the beta frequency range (13–35 Hz) as a feedback-signal for demand-based adaptive stimulation paradigms. A high prevalence of beta peak activity is prerequisite for this approach to become routine clinical practice. In a large dataset of postoperative rest recordings from 106 patients we quantified occurrence and identified determinants of spectral peaks in the alpha, low and high beta bands. At least one peak in beta band occurred in 92% of patients and 84% of hemispheres off medication, irrespective of demographic parameters, clinical subtype or motor symptom severity. Distance to previously described clinical sweet spot was significantly related both to beta peak occurrence and to spectral power (rho −0.21, p 0.006), particularly in the high beta band. Electrophysiological landscapes of our cohort's dataset in normalised space showed divergent heatmaps for alpha and beta but found similar regions for low and high beta frequency bands. We discuss potential ramifications for clinicians' programming decisions. In summary, this report provides robust evidence that spectral peaks in beta frequency range can be detected in the vast majority of Parkinsonian subthalamic nuclei, increasing confidence in the broad applicability of beta-guided deep brain stimulation.

Comanipulation Robotic Platform for Spine Surgery With Exteroceptive Visual Coupling: Development and Experimentation

Abstract In this paper, a novel surgical robotic platform intended to assist surgeons in cervical spine surgery is presented. The purpose of this surgery is to treat the cervical spine instabilities. The surgical procedure requires drilling into specific region of the vertebrae in order to attach spinal implants and thus ensure a normal spacing between each vertebra concerned. In this context, the proposed robotic platform allows to control and restrict the surgeon's movements to a specific drilling direction set by the surgeon. The current platform is composed of a collaborative robot with seven degrees-of-freedom (DoF) equipped with a drilling tool and directly comanipulated by the surgeon. A motion capture system, as an exteroceptive sensor device, provides the robot controller with the movement data of the vertebra to be drilled. Robot Operating System (ROS) framework is used to enable real-time communication between the collaborative robot and the visual exteroceptive device. In addition, an implemented compliance control program allows to enhance the safety aspect of the robotic platform. Indeed, the collaborative robot follows the patient's movements while constraining the tool movements to an optimal trajectory as well as a limited drilling depth selected by the surgeon. The collaborative robot's elbow movements are also restricted by exploiting the null-space in order to avoid collisions with other equipment or the medical team members. Experimental drilling trials have been performed by an orthopedic surgeon to validate the usefulness and different functionalities of the developed robotic platform, and provide that a collaborative robot can comply with a spine surgery procedure. These preliminary tests were performed in a lumbar spine model for which the use of a robotic device is most frequent due to a lower complexity compared to the cervical spine.
