Recently, there has been an increasing interest towards the integration of esports initiatives inside universities. However, little is known about how universities based in countries where esports curriculum is missing can learn from more experienced universities based in countries where esports curriculum is more established. Based on an integrative approach to curriculum development, this research aspires to discover how Vietnamese Universities could learn from the experience of British ones that are already committed in esports to develop their own dedicated esports curriculum national policy. Following a qualitative approach, twenty-one semi-structured interviews were done with British esports lecturers, British esports stakeholders as well as Vietnamese esports actors. Drawing upon a thematic analysis, the results portray the rationales behind environmental scanning of esports curriculum development, graduate competencies and curriculum development. Finally, this research provides both theoretical and practical implications regarding the potential development of an esports curriculum national policy in Vietnam.
