„Muzeum etnograficzne na rozdrożu” Czwarte wiosenne seminarium muzeologiczne

In previous years, the Department of Ethnology of the Nicolaus Copernicus University, the Faculty of Theology of the University of Warsaw and the Missionary Seminary of the Verbist Fathers in Pieniężno organized a series of meetings under the common title "Spring Museological Seminars". Until 2019, we met three times, and reports from the conference and some texts of the speeches were published in ZWAM. In 2024, the Fourth Spring Museological Seminar was held (May 13–15), entitled: The Ethnographic Museum at the Crossroads, which this time took as its main topic the role and position of the contemporary ethnographic museum. The organizers of this year's meeting were: the Polish Ethnological Society, Branch in Łódź and the Missionary House of St. Stanisław Kostka in Chludowo, as well as the Editorial Office of the magazine ZWAM in cooperation with the Museological Section of the Polish Ethnological Society and the Department of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń. This time we met at the Mission House of St. Stanisław Kostka in Chludowo (SVD) near Poznań. The text presents the nature of this meeting and is also an introduction to selected articles resulting from the workshops.

Wilno i wątki urbanistyczne w przedwojennych tekstach Józefa Mackiewicza

The article points out the dominant themes of Józef Mackiewicz's pre-war work, indicates Vilnius as one of the main goals of Mackiewicz's writing, and analyses selected pre-war columns and reportages, primarily the diptych Z wileńskiego bruku (From the Vilnius Pavement) and a series of reportages under the common title Poszukiwania tajemniczego portcygaru w Wilnie (Search for the Mysterious Portcygar in Vilnius). In the diptych, Mackiewicz studies the city as a strictly urban space without reference to tradition or cultural and symbolic imagery. Observations and descriptions of the everyday life of pre-war Vilnius gave rise to texts in which motifs specific to urban literature appear, such as the movement and rhythm of urban life, the organisation of time, or the peculiarities of the audiosphere. The protagonist-narrator of these texts also resides in the city in a modern way: he focuses on empiricism and the sensory-bodily perception of the city. On the other hand, the reportage series belongs to the non-fiction literature of the 1930s. Some of Mackiewicz's pre-war works, including the analysed series, belong to the period of literature’s turn towards social issues, when the life of the lower classes, especially in the metropolis’s suburbs, gained its literary and journalistic representations. The analysed series about suburbs discovered new anthropological spaces, alternative to the time’s literary representations, and modified existing ideas about Vilnius.

SECURITY OF PERSONAL DATA. PART II - IDENTITY IN THE 21ST CENTURY

The technical progress that is presently taking place makes man not only a living organism in theworld of nature, but also an avatar in the form of a package of bits in the virtual ICT space, whichis created as a result and based on his activity on the Internet. This state of affairs means that thecommonly known and used methods of identifying environmental data of natural persons havebeen extended by technologically advanced methods of marking the environmental identity ofnatural persons on the basis of annotated data attributed to them. However, identification is notlimited to living natural persons, but is also required in certain situations to establish the identityof deceased individuals. The processing of data of deceased persons is not subject to rules set out inRegulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on theprotection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movementof such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (commonly referred to as: GDPR). Such data aredata about an individual. Despite the fact that in terms of content, data concerning a given personare at least identical to the personal data of a specific person during his or her lifetime, in the legalcontext their processing is carried out on the basis of provisions of other laws and regulations. Thisarticle complements the diptych bearing the common title Security of personal data, divided into2 parts: Part I – Identity specifics in the 21st century and Part II – Identification in the 21st century.

Speaking in Riddles on Trisolaris: Communicating Liberal Democracy to the Disillusioned

It is hard to overestimate the effect of The Three-Body Problem and the ensuing trilogy by Liu Cixin1 on the collective imagination. Not many works of science fiction have achieved such global fame as The Three-Body Problem trilogy, also known under the common title Remembrance of Earth’s Past,2 and even fewer have had a three-part documentary series produced by BBC Studios explore the science behind the fiction.3According to the IMDB, at least 65 million people have watched the docuseries. Netflix has now commissioned Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss to develop a TV series,4 to be released in January 2024—despite protests from several US Republican senators who had noted the writer’s controversial statements on Chinese policies against the Uighurs in Xinjiang. The first book of the trilogy had sold more than 8 million copies by the end of 2020. On Reddit, fans discuss which disciplines one has to study in real life to approximate ‘cosmic sociology’, a fictional academic field that one of the central characters, Luo Ji, develops in his work.

Nanoparticle-Based Approaches for Treatment of Hematological Malignancies: a Comprehensive Review.

Blood cancer, also known as hematological malignancy, is one of the devastating types of cancer that has significantly paved its mortality mark globally. It persists as an extremely deadly cancer type and needs utmost attention owing to its negligible overall survival rate. Major challenges in the treatment of blood cancer include difficulties in early diagnosis, as well as severe side effects resulting from chemotherapy. In addition, immunotherapies and targeted therapies can be prohibitively expensive. Over the past two decades, scientists have devised a few nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems aimed at overcoming this challenge. These therapeutic strategies are engineered to augment the cellular uptake, pharmacokinetics, and effectiveness of anticancer drugs. However, there are still numerous types of nanoparticles that could potentially improve the efficacy of blood cancer treatment, while also reducing treatment costs and mitigating drug-related side effects. To the best of our knowledge, there has been limited reviews published on the use of nano-based drug delivery systems for the treatment of hematological malignancies. Therefore, we have made a concerted effort to provide a comprehensive review that draws upon recent literature and patents, with a focus on the most promising results regarding the use of nanoparticle-based approaches for the treatment of hematological malignancies. All these crucial points covered under a common title would significantly help researchers and scientists working in the area.

Mykola Lysenko’s «Kupalo Case»: Concert and Choral Implementation of Folk Rite

The purpose of the article is to identify the peculiarities of concert and choral implementation of the cycle of Kupalo songs in the interpretation by Mykola Lysenko. Research methodology is based on the synthesis of the folkloristic and art-studying approaches, which enable us to prove the fruitfulness of complementarity of various types of the artist’s creative activities. Cultural-historical, system-analytical and didactical methods are used in order to study the ways of concert reinterpretation of the folk-rite performance presented by a mixed choir with piano accompaniment, as well as to generalise the cognitive and spiritual values of that type of the repertoire. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the first analysis of the conformity of the composer’s idea and its implementation through the selected set of the expressive means to the content and essence of the ancient ritual authenticity on the example of a specific choral work. Conclusions. The ritual-choral cycle «The Kupalo Case» is a synthesis of folk archaism and innovative ways of concert enrichment of music language. Three folk songs under the common title are united by a dramatic idea, based on folk philosophy of the summer fest of Kupalo, its symbolism of purification through fire, water, and pairing of youth. The general cyclicality of the composition is cemented by an optimistic idea of glorifying the life. The piano part plays an important formative role, makes the verbal text more detailed and enriches the choral score in figurative and meaningful aspects. The harmonious language of the work contributes to the preservation of the archaic coloration. The general homophonic and harmonic texture sometimes reveals the signs of polyphonic layers, differentiated by male and female voices. Their layering reflects the contrast of timbres, registers, and character of melodies. As a result a peculiar style of choral theatricalisation is achieved, which coincides with the syncretism of the primary calendar-ritual performance.

In this article, the authors propose Latin lesson scenarios. The scenarios are based on common lexical material, which is the names of animals. Based on it, the authors propose two versions of the lesson - lexical and grammatical, both under the common title Ex ungue leonem. However, the main task of the article is to present the range of possibilities offered by one of the platforms (Genial.ly) when creating materials, worksheets, and presentations (PhotoGallery, Puzzly) used by teachers of various subjects.

The article presents the “Yearbook of Armenian Printing.” In 1925, the first Armenian bibliographic periodical “Book Chronicle” was published in the Soviet Armenia Book Chamber. Based on the collected printed materials, a state bibliography of publications was compiled. “Book Chronicle” was published monthly from 1971 with the title “Printing Yearbook” including also bibliographic descriptions of music and fine art publications, as well as materials published in periodicals of the USSR and socialist countries about Soviet Armenia. “Journal Articles Yearbook” and “Newspaper Articles Yearbook” were published under the common title “Articles and Reviews Yearbook” from 1972, and under the general title “Arme-nian Printing Yearbook” from 1995. Since 2017, the publishing of this yearbook has been continued at the National Library of Armenia.

Postsoviet “ambivalence of consciousness” of the Ukrainian youth (based on the poll “Soviet past and its impact upon the life of contemporary youth”)

In September – November 2021, the project team “Soviet Past: (Re)thinking of History” conducted an online-poll for school youth of 14-18 year-old under the common title “Soviet Past and Its Impact upon the Life of Contemporary Youth.” This was one of the first polls focused on the views and understandings of the youngest Ukrainian citizens.This article examines the poll results within a broader context of ongoing discussions about the impact of the Soviet past upon the life of contemporary Ukrainians and about the phenomenon of “post-Sovietness” on the territories of the former Soviet Union. The poll was conducted on the eve of the Russo-Ukrainian war, which broke on February 24, 2022. It therefore fixed those behavioral patterns and value orientations of the so-called “generation of Ukrainian independence” that are defined as “ambivalent” by sociologists: they simultaneously testify to the declarative break of the Ukrainian youth with the Soviet past and this past’s continuing impact upon its present.The Russo-Ukrainian war will undeniably impact Ukrainians’ attitude towards the Soviet past. It will most probably cause a complete and final symbolic break with this past, especially at the level of policy making and public presentation. Still, as the author argues, we cannot determine at the moment its deeper impact upon personal perceptions, value orientations, and behavioral models of Ukrainians, including of the youngest ones, which are analyzed in this article.

A literature review on digital content management: trends and future challenges

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to review the literature on digital content management (DCM) published between 2001 and 2021, as well as to provide insights and research directions for the future.Design/methodology/approachThis study followed the systematic literature review framework PRISMA for reviewing existing literature on DCM. The PRISMA checklist helps the researcher in refining the reporting of the review paper. Data was collected from Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases. A total of 136 documents were selected for analysis from Scopus and WoS.FindingsBased on current papers, this study attempted to discuss some key DCM trends and themes. Seven themes have been identified in the literature: virtual reality and its implications on DCM; personal DCM; microservices based DCM; model for DCM; DCM using Bluetooth Low Emergency technology; DCM software; and DCM codification. This study identifies influential authors, top contributing countries, top contributing institutions, most cited papers, most common title words and contributions by fields.Originality/valueThe findings of this study, as well as future research projects, open the path for more research and contributions to the field.

50th Edition of WILGA Symposium on Photonics Applications

The Jubilee 50th edition of WILGA Symposium on Photonics Applications crowns 25 years of diligent service by this exceptional series of scientific and technical meetings to the local and international photonics research, academic, industrial, business and societal communities. The paper reviews concisely, and only generally without details, some of the chosen topical tracks related to photonics present during the previous meetings and in particular during WILGA 2022 sessions. The paper summarizes shortly the achievements of WILGA Photonics Applications meetings of young researchers, during the quarter of a century, and gives a general sense of the unique nature of these meetings. Wider description of WILGA achievements are available in around 30 Proc. SPIE volumes published continuously under the common title Photonics Applications in Astronomy, Communications, Industry, and High-Energy Physics Experiments in the years 2002-2022. ANALISIS BIBLIOMETRIC DARI SERTIFIKAT TANAH (BIBLIOMETRIC OF LAND CERTIFICATE)

This article is a bibliometric analysis of articles published in Scopus indexed journals that discuss land certificates. Knowing how studies related to land certificates are progressing is the aim of this research. Data was collected from the Scopus database by using the keyword term "land certificate". The researchers analyzed and visualized the database obtained in the VosViewer software. The highest number of citations occurred in 2016-2020 was 31 citations. The most publication trend occurred in 2019 with 40 articles. Articles from the collaboration of three authors include 12 articles from Deininger K., 8 from Ritz B. 8 and 3 from Zhang I. The most common title terms are “policy, demography” (2000) 20 items, “environmental protection” (2005) 55 items, “human, female, male” (2010) 23 items, “certification, land tenure, land use” (2015) 24 items. Abstract as many as 52 items 'human', 41 items 'humans', 23 items 'certificate', and 21 items 'land use'. Moreover, the country that published the most land certificate articles was the United States with 64 articles, followed by China with 29 articles and Germany with 21 articles. Citation analysis in the article the land certificate shows an increase as well as a decrease. The highest citation rate occurred in 2020, while the citation of land titling articles decreased in 2021.

The Oriental Annual[s]: Colonial Representations of Indian life and Culture

This paper highlights how two early nineteenth-century British colonial writers Rev. Hobart Caunter and Thomas Bacon represented Indian life and culture in The Oriental Annual[s]. The Oriental Annual was the common title given to a series of seven volumes, which were published every year between 1834 and 1840. Combining anecdotes, short sketches and accounts of first-hand travel experiences of the writers, these volumes sought to present India and its people to readers back home in Britain. This paper shows how British colonial ideology shaped the representations of India and its people in these books. It specifically foregrounds how, in depicting India, both writers highlighted those aspects of Indian cultural and religious life that foreigners usually found disagreeable. It is argued that they did this to construct a vision of India which seemed to call for urgent reforms. This in turn helped them vindicate British colonialism in India, which both authors presented as being benign and reformative in nature. The paper thus demonstrates that these volumes were not mere innocuous travelogues, but works complicit in the colonial project of dominance and control.

The article is a review of the third part of a series of books by the philosopher Maria daVenza Tillmanns, united by the common title “Why we are in need of tales”. The book deals with the problems of existential self-determination and moral choice in the dialogue of fairy tale characters. At the request of the author of the book, the review is published in English and is accompanied by a translation into Russian with minor additions.

Kreowanie wirtualnej wspólnoty komunikacyjnej wokół dyskursu kryminologicznego na materiale podcastu Justyny Mazur Piąte: Nie zabijaj

The subject of the article is the ways of creating a virtual communicative community that is shaped around the criminological discourse, realized in the form of a podcast – a virtual genre of expression. The material basis are sound recordings under the common title “Piąte: nie zabijaj” (“The Fifth Commandment: You Shall Not Kill”), published on Justyna Mazur’s online channel, available on the YouTube platform. Addictionally, some comments of Internet users published under each analyzed recording were taken into account. The aim of the study is to show that the authors and recipients of audiovisual materials available on the Internet create a communication community specific to the virtual space, based on the similarity of interests, exchange of information and observations, on the closeness of moral and social attitudes towards crimes, their perpetrators and victims. The article presents the position that Justyna Mazur – the author of the analyzed material – not only makes her recordings available for entertainment or cognitive purposes, but also cares for the constitution of a permanent recipient group that interacts with the material and other participants of virtual communication. It has been shown that the author consciously uses various communication strategies: referring to the shared knowledge of the sender and the recipient, showing concern for listeners, sharing own experiences and observations, or formulating various requests in order to win the attention of recipients and encourage them to actively comment on recordings or interact with the author or other Internet users. The communicative activity in question also fosters the development of criminological discourse by informing a large group of recipients about the events that have occurred, exchanging information and accumulating knowledge on a specific topic. An important aspect that attracts attention when reading the analyzed materials is the linguistic setting of content relating to such sensitive topic as crime. The author, who aptly uses language as a tool can, thanks to her authority, sensitize Internet users to the issue of ethics and aesthetics of expression.

Wound and Travel – Sophocles’s 193 Philoctetes and Homer’s Odyssey in Inflammation du verbe vivre (Inflammation of the Verb To Live) by Wajdi Mouawad

In her article, the author analyses an example of a text and its staging brought about by the sudden death of a member of the playwright’s creative team. In his solo performance Inflammation du verbe vivre (Inflammation of the Verb To Live), created at the Paris Théâtre National de la Colline in 2015, Canadian-Lebanese playwright, director and actor Wajdi Mouawad interwove the ancient Greek literary and mythological heritage with a personal confession about the loss of his friend and professional colleague Robert Davreu, upgrading it with a socially critical depiction of the situation in today’s Greece. The performance was made as the penultimate part of a staging cycle of Sophocles’s seven preserved tragedies under the common title Le dernièr jour de sa vie (The Last Day of his Life). Mouawad had intended to direct the cycle in new translations by Davreu. Mouawad thus connected the process of mourning the death, which stopped the project, with the documentation of the writing process of the text that he later also directed and performed in the form of a peculiar theatre elegy. He fused the character of Philoctetes with the character of Odysseus; not the Odysseus from Sophocles’s tragedy who plots to steal Philoctetes’s bow, but the one from Homer who seeks his way home to Ithaca for ten years after the conquer of Troy and visits Tiresias’s shade in the underworld.

On the issue of the artistic integrity of Sergey Gorodetsky's cycle “Prison Songsˮ

This article is devoted to the characterisation of the main signs of integration, observed in “Prison Songsˮ by Sergey Gorodetsky, the presence of which testifies to the cyclical structure of the work. The work provides a detailed analysis of the core themes of the cycle, central motifs and images. The author points out that the leading role in the formation of the principle of textual construction of artistic unity is played by antithesis, through the use of which the development of the position of the lyrical hero is most clearly traced, which becomes identical with the position of the author himself. The article concludes that the poems that make up the structure of “Prison Songsˮ do reveal common artistic bonds that support the cyclical nature of the work, as well as maintain strong artistic ties with the entire structure of the collection “Unbound Freedomˮ. These include both a common title, a single lyrical hero, close to the very figure of the author, common motifs and images, and genre characteristics of individual poems of the cycle. In addition, conceptual meanings for understanding the work as a whole are born at their junctions rather than within individual poems, which makes it possible to get closer to comprehending the author's picture of the world, embodied by the poet in the text of the cycle.

From the Philosophy of Cult to the Philosophy of History in the Work of Pavel Alexandrovich Florensky (* 1882 + 1937)

P. A. Florensky dedicated nine writings of his rich interdisciplinary work to the phenomenon of cult, which were first published in a censored form in 1977. We turn our attention to one of these writings called Cult, Religion and Culture, published under the common title Philosophy of Cult, in which the author elaborates a distinctive concept of the cult as the primary activity of man and at the same time as the gift offered to him for his own sanctification. It is the sacred cult—sacra from where, according to the author, two other human activities originate: namely, the ability to create tools—instrumenta—and the ability to create abstract concepts—notiones. However, both human activities have to be understood as a process of disintegration of the cult—sacra. Thus, by prioritizing one of the three human activities mentioned above, we can recognize three historical periods in history. According to Florensky, the human ability to create tools corresponds to the era of historical materialism, the ability to create concepts corresponds to the era of ideologism, and ultimately, the primary human activity—the life of man in the cult and its culture corresponds to the sacral materialism or concrete idealism.
