Improving The Quality Of Google Translate Indonesian-Arabic Translations

Arabic Language Education Study Program students must be able to write theses in Arabic. A common obstacle students face is relying on Google Translate to help them translate from Indonesian to Arabic. However, even though it is easy to use, Google Translate still has obstacles when measured using Larson's translation quality indicators. This study aims to improve the quality of Google Translate translation results for Arabic theses using an Android-based term dictionary. This study is a type of classroom action research carried out in 2 cycles, each including planning, action, observation, and reflection procedures. Data collection was carried out through an assessment of the translation results of 22 students selected based on the criteria of being in the process of completing their thesis. The study results showed that of the 12 sub-indicators of translation quality, the aspects of equivalence and suitability of the source and target languages were the lowest quality. Using an Android-based term dictionary significantly reduced error scores and improved translation quality compared to Google Translate as a translation machine. However, the dictionary does not match the efficiency or time savings the translation machine provides. Furthermore, researchers are expected to be able to produce translation machines that can accommodate the intricacies and complexities of the Arabic language in the future.

NsDCC: dual-level contrastive clustering with nonuniform sampling for scRNA-seq data analysis.

Dimensionality reduction and clustering are crucial tasks in single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) data analysis, treated independently in the current process, hindering their mutual benefits. The latest methods jointly optimize these tasks through deep clustering. However, contrastive learning, with powerful representation capability, can bridge the gap that common deep clustering methods face, which requires pre-defined cluster centers. Therefore, a dual-level contrastive clustering method with nonuniform sampling (nsDCC) is proposed for scRNA-seq data analysis. Dual-level contrastive clustering, which combines instance-level contrast and cluster-level contrast, jointly optimizes dimensionality reduction and clustering. Multi-positive contrastive learning and unit matrix constraint are introduced in instance- and cluster-level contrast, respectively. Furthermore, the attention mechanism is introduced to capture inter-cellular information, which is beneficial for clustering. The nsDCC focuses on important samples at category boundaries and in minority categories by the proposed nearest boundary sparsest density weight assignment algorithm, making it capable of capturing comprehensive characteristics against imbalanced datasets. Experimental results show that nsDCC outperforms the six other state-of-the-art methods on both real and simulated scRNA-seq data, validating its performance on dimensionality reduction and clustering of scRNA-seq data, especially for imbalanced data. Simulation experiments demonstrate that nsDCC is insensitive to "dropout events" in scRNA-seq. Finally, cluster differential expressed gene analysis confirms the meaningfulness of results from nsDCC. In summary, nsDCC is a new way of analyzing and understanding scRNA-seq data.

Feasibility and Validity of Wearable Sensors for Monitoring Temporal Parameters in Manual Wheelchair Propulsion.

Upper extremity pain and injury are among the most common musculoskeletal complications manual wheelchair users face. Assessing the temporal parameters of manual wheelchair propulsion, such as propulsion duration, cadence, push duration, and recovery duration, is essential for providing a deep insight into the mobility, level of activity, energy expenditure, and cumulative exposure to repetitive tasks and thus providing personalized feedback. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the use of inertial measurement units (IMUs) to estimate these temporal parameters by identifying the start and end time of hand contact with the push-rim during each propulsion cycle. We presented a model based on data collected from 23 participants (14 males and 9 females, including 9 experienced manual wheelchair users) to guarantee the reliability and generalizability of our method. The obtained outcomes from our IMU-based model were then compared against an instrumented wheelchair (SMARTWheel) as a reference criterion. The results illustrated that our model was able to accurately detect hand contact and hand release and predict temporal parameters, including the push duration and recovery duration in manual wheelchair users, with the mean error ± standard deviation of 10 ± 60 milliseconds and -20 ± 80 milliseconds, respectively. The findings of this study demonstrate the potential of hand-mounted IMUs as a reliable and objective tool for analyzing temporal parameters in manual wheelchair propulsion. IMUs offer significant strides towards inclusivity and accessibility due to their portability and user-friendliness and can democratize health monitoring of manual wheelchair users by making it accessible to a broader range of users compared to traditional technologies.

Challenges and opportunities for identifying people with Familial hypercholesterolaemia in the UK: Evidence from the National FH PASS database

BackgroundFamilial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH) is a monogenic disorder that causes high levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol. Cascade testing, where relatives of known individuals with FH (‘index’) are genetically tested, is effective and cost-effective, but implementation in the UK varies. ObjectiveThis study aims to provide evidence on current UK FH cascade yields and to identify common obstacles cascade services face and individual- and service-level predictors of success. MethodsElectronic health records from 875 index families and 5,958 linked relatives in the UK's Welsh and Wessex FH services (2019) were used to explore causes for non-testing and to estimate testing rates, detection yields, and how relative characteristics and contact methods relate to the probability of relatives being tested (using logistic regression). ResultsIn Wales (Wessex), families included 7.35 (7.01) members on average, with 2.41 (1.66) relatives tested and 1.35 (0.96) diagnosed with FH per index. Cascade testing is limited by individualised circumstances (too young, not at-risk, etc.) and FH services’ reach, with approximately one in four relatives out-of-area. In Wales, first-degree relatives (odds ratio (OR):1.55 [95 % confidence interval (CI):1.28,1.88]) and directly contacted relatives (OR:2.11 [CI:1.66,2.69]) were more likely to be tested. In Wales and Wessex, women were more likely to be tested than men (ORs:1.53 [CI:1.28,1.85] and 1.74 [CI:1.32,2.27]). ConclusionIn Wales and Wessex less than a third of relatives of an index are tested for FH. Improvements are likely possible by integrating geographically dispersed families into cascade testing, services directly contacting relatives where possible, and finding new ways to encourage participation, particularly amongst men.

A Fused Deep Denoising Sound Coding Strategy for Bilateral Cochlear Implants.

Cochlear implants (CIs) provide a solution for individuals with severe sensorineural hearing loss to regain their hearing abilities. When someone experiences this form of hearing impairment in both ears, they may be equipped with two separate CI devices, which will typically further improve the CI benefits. This spatial hearing is particularly crucial when tackling the challenge of understanding speech in noisy environments, a common issue CI users face. Currently, extensive research is dedicated to developing algorithms that can autonomously filter out undesired background noises from desired speech signals. At present, some research focuses on achieving end-to-end denoising, either as an integral component of the initial CI signal processing or by fully integrating the denoising process into the CI sound coding strategy. This work is presented in the context of bilateral CI (BiCI) systems, where we propose a deep-learning-based bilateral speech enhancement model that shares information between both hearing sides. Specifically, we connect two monaural end-to-end deep denoising sound coding techniques through intermediary latent fusion layers. These layers amalgamate the latent representations generated by these techniques by multiplying them together, resulting in an enhanced ability to reduce noise and improve learning generalization. The objective instrumental results demonstrate that the proposed fused BiCI sound coding strategy achieves higher interaural coherence, superior noise reduction, and enhanced predicted speech intelligibility scores compared to the baseline methods. Furthermore, our speech-in-noise intelligibility results in BiCI users reveal that the deep denoising sound coding strategy can attain scores similar to those achieved in quiet conditions.

QOL-19. THE SIBLING TOOLKIT: DEVELOPMENT OF A PSYCHOLOGICALLY-INFORMED TOOLKIT TO SUPPORT SIBLINGS OF CHILDHOOD CNS TUMOUR PATIENTS WITH LIMITED ACCESS TO FORMAL SERVICES

Abstract BACKGROUND There is a recognised gap in service provision addressing the psychological and social needs of siblings of children with a diagnosis of brain tumour. In the absence of funding to provide direct psychological service provision for siblings, a project development group was established to identify and advance alternative methods of delivering support. METHODS Funding for a two year sibling-needs project was sourced from UK child brain tumour charity Tom’s Trust and led by the Neuro-Oncology psychology service at the Great North Children’s Hospital (Newcastle, UK). A development group was established of clinical psychologists and neuropsychologists representing nine UK hospital Trusts and one former school teacher. Following a comprehensive priorities exercise a toolkit was developed to support siblings of children with brain tumours. Significant further stakeholder involvement, including input from the regional Young People’s Advisory Group, resulted in positive revision to the initial draft. RESULTS A 39 page toolkit was produced for the use of any adult involved in the sibling’s life. This psychologically-informed toolkit provides guidance and support for a caring but potentially uninformed adult, such as a teacher, community leader, or member of the wider family, to be able to offer support to siblings. Guidance is included to help the adult talk about cancer, know what common issues siblings face, and to think about how to safely and appropriately undertake supportive work with this age group. The kit is associated with a website link, allowing toolkit users to download worksheets and resources for use with the sibling. CONCLUSIONS Early feedback on the published toolkit is highly positive, suggesting that the toolkit is considered ‘comprehensive’, ‘accessible’, and ‘practical’. We believe that this toolkit offers the potential to bridge some of the gap in service provision to siblings of a child with brain tumour.

Molecular Photoelectrochemical Energy Storage Materials for Coupled Solar Batteries.

ConspectusSolar-to-electrochemical energy storage is one of the essential solar energy utilization pathways alongside solar-to-electricity and solar-to-chemical conversion. A coupled solar battery enables direct solar-to-electrochemical energy storage via photocoupled ion transfer using photoelectrochemical materials with light absorption/charge transfer and redox capabilities. Common photoelectrochemical materials face challenges due to insufficient solar spectrum utilization, which restricts their redox potential window and constrains energy conversion efficiency. In contrast, molecular photoelectrochemical energy storage materials are promising for their mechanism of exciton-involved redox reaction that allows for extra energy utilization from hot excitons generated by superbandgap excitation and localized heat after absorption of sub-bandgap photons. This enables more efficient redox reactions with a less restricted redox potentials window and, thus, better utilization of the full solar spectrum. Despite these advantages, practical application remains elusive due to the mismatch between the short lifetime of the charge separation state (<ns) and the slower redox reaction rate (>μs). This mismatch results in a significant portion of the photogenerated charges recombining before participating in desired electrochemical energy storage reactions, leading to diminished overall efficiency. It is therefore highly important to develop molecular materials with intrinsic prolonged charge separation state and extrinsic effective mass-electron transfer to enable efficient coupled solar batteries for practical applications.In this Account, we begin with an introduction of the general solar-to-electrochemical energy storage concept based on molecular photoelectrochemical energy storage materials, highlighting the advantages of periodic oxidative donor-reductive acceptor porous aggregate structures that have synergistic implications on charge separation state lifetime extension and mass-electron transfer. We then present our earliest trial on the design and application of molecular photoelectrochemical energy storage materials, which stimulated our subsequent studies on tuning electron donor and acceptor structures for enhanced charge separation and diverse photoelectrochemical redox reactions. Moreover, we introduce the best practices in the design and assembly of various coupled solar battery devices, along with our literature contributions and progresses in solar-to-electrochemical energy storage efficiency (ηSES) over nearly the past decade. Finally, we conclude by highlighting the universality of our strategies as essential design principles, spanning from regulating long-lived charge separation states and photocoupled ion transfer processes in molecular materials to the construction of efficient coupled solar batteries. We offer perspectives on the synergy between photovoltage and redox potentials and the practical significance of 3D printing, providing key evaluation indicators for large-scale application. This Account provides molecular level insights for the construction of high-efficiency photoelectrochemical energy storage materials and guidance for practical solar-to-electrochemical energy storage applications.

A look inside the gut as a clue to nutritional status.

Malabsorption and malnutrition are common gastrointestinal manifestations clinicians face, requiring diagnostic workup for effective diagnosis and management of the underlying cause. This review discusses recent advances in diagnostic approaches to malabsorption and maldigestion of macronutrients - lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates. We highlight underrecognized causes, available testing modalities, and ongoing diagnostic unmet needs. Innovations in the diagnostic landscape are enhancing our understanding of malabsorption syndromes. Stool collection and handling is uncomfortable and commonly avoided. The objective quantification of stool lipids, bile acids, and gut enzymes is therefore underused in the diagnosis and management of common disorders such as exocrine pancreatic insufficiency, bile acid diarrhea, protein-losing enteropathy, and more. We review the recent advancements in spot quantification of stool fat and bile acid content, endoscopic imaging techniques such as endocytoscopy, confocal laser endomicroscopy, and optical coherence tomography and the future place in clinical practice. Malabsorption and maldigestion represent significant challenges in clinical nutrition and gastroenterology. Through the integration of advanced diagnostic techniques, clinicians will be better equipped to tailor therapy and monitor treatment response, ultimately improving patient health outcomes. This review underscores the critical role of innovative diagnostic tools in accurately detecting and effectively managing gastrointestinal disorders linked to nutritional status.

Women in Nigerian Neurosurgery: A Cross-Sectional Survey

Although women have made remarkable strides in several medical specialties in Sub-Saharan Africa, their presence and contribution to the development of neurosurgery remain limited. We sought to study the gender differences within Nigerian neurosurgery, identify challenges resulting from these differences, and recommend how African female neurosurgeons can maximize their effects in neurosurgery. A structured online survey captured data on neurosurgical infrastructural capacity, workforce, and training from neurosurgical consultants and residents in neurosurgical centers in Nigeria. All the collected data were coded and analyzed. Altogether, 82 neurosurgical consultants and 67 neurosurgical residents from 50 primary medical institutions in Nigeria completed the online survey. Only 8 of the respondents (5.4%) were women, comprising 3 consultants, 2 senior residents, and 3 junior residents. Although 40.2% of the respondents did not believe that being female affected the decision of whether to specialize in neurosurgery, 46.3% believed that being female was a disadvantage. Most did not believe that being female affected admission (57.8%), completion of a neurosurgery residency (58.5%), or life working as a neurosurgeon after graduation (63.4%). The most common challenges women face while navigating through neurosurgery training and practice are erosion of family and social life, lack of female mentors, and lack of a work-life balance. There is a deficit of both female consultants and trainees among Nigerian neurosurgeons. Identifying female medical students with a strong interest in neurosurgery and providing early mentorship might increase the number of female neurosurgeons.

Insights into feeding preterm infants in Aotearoa, New Zealand: a mixed-method study

Optimal nutrition is essential for preterm infants as they face many barriers to achieving exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) and successfully introducing complementary foods (CF)(1). There is limited evidence of early feeding practices of preterm infants in Aotearoa, New Zealand (NZ). We aimed to investigate the facilitators and barriers to EBF and CF introduction in preterm infants in NZ. A nationwide self-completed electronic questionnaire was disseminated via social media to mothers of preterm infants. The survey collected quantitative data on hospital feeding practices, breastfeeding rates, timing of CF introduction, and fussy eating behaviours. Relationships between feeding practices and maternal and infant characteristics, such as ethnicity and level of prematurity, were explored using the Chi-Square statistical test in SPSS. Qualitative information regarding mothers’ experiences with breastfeeding, CF introduction, type of education and support received about the nutrition of preterm infants were collected for thematic analysis using Nvivo. The survey started in April and will close on 20th August 2023. Here we present preliminary findings of a subset of responses collected to date, and full results will be available for the conference. Up to 1st August 2023, 201 mothers had completed the survey. Most mothers self-identified as of New Zealand European (58%) and Māori (13%) background. Most infants (39%) were older than 12 months of chronological age (CA) and born moderate or late preterm (32+0 – 36+6 weeks’ gestation, 70%). Almost 50% of mothers required in-hospital supplementation of mothers’ milk (infant formula, 28% and donor breastmilk, 20%), and 44% of mothers were EBF at the time of hospital discharge. EBF for 5-6 months of CA was reported by 21% of mothers, and 46% provided any breastmilk for more than 6 months of CA. Among mothers who had introduced CF (n = 138), 74% reported introducing CF between 5-8 months of CA, and the infant’s first foods were primarily vegetables (65%) and fruits (60%). Fussy eating behaviour was reported by 47%, and food fussiness was significantly associated with a decreased frequency of vegetable (p&lt;0.001) and fruit (p = 0.004) consumption. Challenges with breastfeeding included the infant’s feeding difficulties, low milk supply, maternal stressors, lack of support and education from health professionals. Challenges to CF introduction included fussiness and maternal fears such as choking and lack of confidence. Support from lactation consultants and previous experience with introducing CF were the most common enablers for breastfeeding and timely CF introduction, respectively. Our findings provide the first insight into the early feeding practices of preterm infants in Aotearoa, New Zealand. This information will support strategies to improve the nutritional management of preterm infants by increasing awareness of common challenges mothers face to achieve the recommended breastfeeding guidelines and CF practices in this vulnerable population.

In fluorides, the M4+ cations of M = Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Ge, Sn, and Pb favour the octahedral coordination of six F ligands. Some examples of M4+ with larger cations (M = Zr, Hf, W) in octahedral coordination are also known. If not enough F ligands are available to have isolated MIVF6 octahedra, they must share their F ligands. The crystal structures of such fluoride metalates (IV) show the variety of possible structural motifs of the zero-dimensional oligomeric anions [M2F11]3- (M = Ti, Cr), [M3F15]3- (M = Zr, Hf), [M3F16]4- (M = Ge), [M4F18]2- (M = Ti, W), [M4F19]3- (M = Ti), [M4F20]4- (M = Ti), [M5F23]3- (M = Ti), [M6F27]3- (M = Ti), [M6F28]4- (M = Ti), [M8F36]4- (M = Ti, Mn), [M10F45]5- (M = Ti) to one-dimensional chains ([MF5]-)∞ (M = V, Ti, Cr, Ge, Sn, Pb), double chains ([M2F9]-)∞ (M = Ti, Mn), columns ([M3F13]-)∞ (M = Ti), ([M4F19]3-)∞ (M = Ti), ([M7F30]2-)∞ (M = Ti), ([M9F38]2-)∞) (M = Ti), two-dimensional layers ([M2F9]-)∞ (M = Cr), ([M8F33]-)∞ (M = Ti), and three-dimensional ([M6F27]3-)∞ (M = Ti) architectures. Synthesis of Novel (Meth)acrylates with Variable Hydrogen Bond Interaction and Their Application in a Clear Viscoelastic Film.

Clear viscoelastic films (CVFs) have many applications in the display industry. Acrylic monomers containing a hydrogen bond (H-monomer) are often used in the preparation of CVF to increase the cohesion and form favorable interactions with the display substrate. Common H-monomers face a counterbalance between the glass transition temperature (Tg) and the hydrogen-bonding association constant (Ka). Strong hydrogen bonding often leads to a high Tg and high modulus, which are unfavorable in certain applications such as foldable display. To solve these problems, four types of hydrogen-bonding (meth)acrylic monomers (carbamate acrylate, carbamate methacrylate, urea acrylate, and urea methacrylate) with different Ka and Tg were readily synthesized. Among them, urea acrylates displayed the highest Ka while still maintaining moderate Tg. These H-monomers were copolymerized with 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (EHA) and cross-linked to obtain a series of copolymers (H-copolymers) as pressure-sensitive adhesives. After the characterization of rheology, optics, and peel adhesion, urea-acrylic H-copolymers showed the best overall performance by combining great optical property (>98% in transmittance, < 1% in haze) and mechanical performance (8-12 N/25 mm in peel adhesion, 84-92% in creep recovery). This work provides a new path to prepare acrylic CVF for flexible display application.

Studies Advanced in Development and Application of Facial Expression Recognition

Facial expression is an important way to convey people's inner emotional changes, as the basis of emotional understanding and the prerequisite for computers to understand human emotions, expression recognition has attracted more and more research attention from academia and industry in recent years. Most of the early expression recognition methods relied on manual features such as texture, geometry, and contour. Thanks to the powerful feature representation capability of convolutional neural networks, deep learning-based face recognition technology has made breakthroughs in recognition accuracy and speed. This paper details the latest research progress in the field of face expression recognition, including the design ideas, key steps, advantages and disadvantages of representative methods. This paper also introduces the common face expression recognition datasets and quantitatively compares the results of different methods on these datasets. Finally, this paper discusses the problems in the face expression recognition research field and look forward to the future development.

Inter-firm relationships and the special role of common banks

Using a novel dataset that combines information on customer-supplier trade relationships with information on firm-bank lending relationships, we show that common banks that lend to firms at both ends of a trade link grow and strengthen such trade relationships. To establish causality, we use bank mergers, which generate exogenous variations in the presence of common banks, and show that common bank relationships between customers and suppliers increase trade relationships by 49.6%. We find that the role of a common bank is greater when it is more informed and when supply chains suffer from larger information and holdup problems. We also document that suppliers with common banks face lower spillover risks from a distressed customer. Overall, our findings show the unique role of banks in driving inter-firm growth and investment by mitigating information and holdup problems, which arguably leads to greater economic growth.

Breaking barriers to adoption: A multi-stakeholder platform approach to promoting improved common bean varieties among farmers in Malawi

Farmers’ low adoption rate of improved common bean varieties is the root cause of other challenges that stakeholders in Malawi's common bean value chain face in marketing, seed production, processing, and consumption. As a result, it is ideal to address the issue of low uptake by encouraging farmers to adopt improved varieties to make more significant contributions to the common bean value chain. The study's main objective was to assess the impact of multi-stakeholder platforms (MSPs) and farmers’ attitudes on the uptake of improved common bean varieties. According to the findings of the KAP survey, there is a correlation between farmers’ knowledge, attitude, and uptake of improved common bean varieties. Using a probit model, the paper discovered that farmers in the project area's intervention site had a 25% higher probability of uptake than farmers in the counterfactual site. Farmer households that were members of MSPs were more likely to participate than farmer households that were not members of any MSP. Meanwhile, farmers who were negative or neutral about the accessibility and affordability of improved common bean varieties were less likely to uptake them than those who were positive. According to the findings, farmers with a neutral attitude toward the yield potential of the improved common bean varieties had a lower probability of uptake than farmers with a positive attitude. Therefore, the study recommends MSP-based initiatives as one way to promote the uptake of improved common bean varieties.

Africa's Data Privacy Puzzle: Data Privacy Laws and Compliance in Selected African Countries

This study sought to give a thorough analysis of data privacy legislation, compliance rates, enforcement strategies, and related issues in seventeen (17) African countries that were chosen for the study. The study's objectives were to assess the state of data privacy laws in selected African countries, analyse levels of compliance among entities operating within these countries, assess the effectiveness of enforcement mechanisms, and identify and analyse the common challenges African countries face in complying with and enforcing data privacy laws. Researchers conducted a systematic review of 48 data privacy publications to gain a deep understanding of the complex data privacy landscape. This involved rigorous criteria for inclusion/exclusion, comprehensive search strategies, quality assessment, and data extraction/synthesis. While 15 African countries have implemented comprehensive data privacy legislation, two (Ethiopia and Burundi) rely on general regulations. The analysis found that regulatory bodies significantly enhance compliance, and highlighted recurring challenges such as insufficient public awareness, resource limitations, and complex governance structures. The research underscores the crucial role of dedicated legislation, public education, empowered regulatory authorities, and regional collaboration in guaranteeing data privacy rights in the digital age across Africa.

Exploring Preventive Health Care Utilization Among Black/African American Men.

Black/African American (BAA) men have the lowest life expectancy among other major demographic groups in the United States, with BAA male mortality rates 40% higher than their White male counterparts. Despite known benefits of preventive health care utilization, BAA men are 43% more likely to use the emergency department for usual care. Many intersecting factors like medical mistrust and religion have been identified as common barriers BAA men face in health care utilization with few studies exploring factors that impact their current preventive health care utilization. In addition, BAA men's perceptions of health and ability to identify or seek help have always been disproportionately lower than other racial groups despite higher rates of preventable diseases. Using the tenets of the Andersen Healthcare Utilization Model, this cross-sectional study of 176 BAA men explores BAA men's current preventive health care practices while examining the intersection of predisposing, enabling, and need factors on BAA men's preventive health care utilization. While it is well known that higher income levels and higher education positively influence health care utilization, the intersection of religious affiliation and higher levels of medical mistrust was associated with BAA men's decreased engagement with health care as religion posed as a buffer to health care utilization. This study demonstrated that BAA men's perception of health differed by sexual orientation, educational status, and income. However, across all groups the participants' perspective of their health was not in alignment with their current health outcomes. Future studies should evaluate the impact of masculine norms as potential enabling factors on BAA men's preventive health care utilization.

Age of Onset of Menopause and Factors Associated with Common Symptoms Among Women in Lusaka District, Zambia

Background: Menstrual periods do not normally end suddenly; instead, there is frequently a period of transitional changes before and following the cessation of the period. Women typically endure physiological changes as a result of hormonal fluctuations, which impact their physical, emotional, and quality of life. Therefore, this study explored menopausal associated problems occurring in women residing in Lusaka, Zambia. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted for a period of six months on 171 women aged 40 – 60 years old who were bedsitters for a hospital patient or visited the hospital. The univariate (unadjusted) and multivariable (adjusted) logistic regression using backwards stepwise analysis was performed to identify factors associated with the most common symptom women face after menopause reporting at 95 % confidence interval (95 % CI). Results: The study revealed that the average age of menopause onset was 47.43 ± 4.46 years, with 75% of the women experiencing menopause between the ages of 45 and 55. Women complained of back pain (66.1%), headache (45%), hot flushes (30.6%), and mood changes (24.0%). Widowed (AOR 2.94; 95 % CI: 1.24–6.63), Obese (AOR 3.19; 95 % CI: 1.16 – 8.73), overweight (AOR 3.91; 95 % CI: 1.31 – 11.73) and early menopause (AOR 0.35, 95% CI: 0.13 – 0.92) were associated with back pain. Conclusion: Women experience a variety of menopausal and postmenopausal problems like back pain, headache, hot flushes and mood changes which will require interventions to improve the health of women.
