Key to successful legislation on the role of professional commitment, organizational behavior and understanding of legislation

This study aims to examine the effect of Professional Commitment (X1) and Organizational Citizenship Behavior (X2) on Legislative Function Performance (Y) through Legislative Function Understanding (Z) as a mediating variable among members of the South Kalimantan Provincial DPRD. The research method uses a quantitative design with mediation analysis. Data were collected from 117 DPRD member respondents using a questionnaire that was tested for validity and reliability. The results of the analysis showed that X2 did not have a significant effect on Y (p-value = 0.089), while X2 had a significant negative effect on Z (p-value = 0.000). On the other hand, X1 showed a significant negative effect on Y (p-value = 0.000), but was not significant on Z (p-value = 0.337). Legislative Function Understanding (Z) did not function as a mediator between X2 and Y (p-value = 0.882) and between X1 and Y (p-value = 0.905). These findings emphasize the importance of increasing the professional commitment of DPRD members and paying attention to organizational citizenship behavior in an effort to improve legislative performance, while also showing that understanding the legislative function does not strengthen the relationship between independent and dependent variables. Further research is needed to explore other factors that may affect legislative performance.

Exploring biometric attendance technology in the Arab academic environment: Insights into faculty loyalty and educational performance in policy initiatives

This study provides insights for decision-makers contemplating the implementation of Biometric Attendance Technology (BAT) for faculty in educational institutions. We conducted a comprehensive assessment of BAT’s impact on Arab educational systems, focusing on its influence on faculty loyalty and satisfaction, which are integral to enhancing overall organizational performance. Using SMART-PLS, we analyzed data from an electronic questionnaire distributed to 296 participants. Our findings highlight the importance of fostering faculty loyalty and satisfaction through training and education initiatives alongside BAT implementation strategies. Despite these efforts, there was no significant improvement in the relationship between loyalty, satisfaction, and educational system performance (ESP) following the introduction of BAT. Slope analysis indicated no significant correlations between Faculty Member Satisfaction (FMS), Faculty Member Loyalty (FML), and ESP. However, slight improvements in R-square values were observed: FML increased from 0.512 to 0.514, and ESP from 0.433 to 0.438 with the BAT moderator. These results are crucial for guiding informed decisions regarding the integration of modern technologies into educational systems.

On the development of criteria for determining the effectiveness of technical working groups: A case study about information processes in marine conservation and fisheries management in Belize

Use of scientific information in evidence-based decision-making is critically important in addressing coastal and ocean management concerns. In an ecosystem-based management context, ensuring that the “right” information (reliable) is available can be particularly challenging as the information often resides in different organizations with different management mandates. Many governmental and intergovernmental organizations have used a range of approaches, including technical advisory committees and working groups, to facilitate multidisciplinary input into the development of appropriate policies and management practices. This study examined the roles of multiple stakeholders participating in technical working groups that assist in decision-making for marine fisheries management in Belize, a coastal country in Central America. Through interviews with members of three working groups – the Spawning Aggregation Working Group, the Managed Access Working Group, and the National Hicatee Conservation and Monitoring Network – and decision-makers in the Belize Fisheries Department, information production processes and pathways for information uptake into policy were investigated. Major characteristics of communication at the science-policy interface associated with each working group were revealed. Important communication enablers and barriers were identified related to the operation of the working groups, such as membership commitment and resource availability, which influenced knowledge exchange within and outside the groups. Based on the results, a set of requirements for the creation and operation of effective working groups was formulated with regard to requisite inputs, the operational processes, and the types and uses of the information outputs of the groups. These requirements serve as a foundation for development of indicators of the effectiveness of working groups in environmental management contexts that support communication and decision-making at science-policy interfaces.

The Role of Guidance and Counseling in Forming Pancasila Student Profiles

The negative impact of digitalization on students' personal development and moral degradation highlights the urgency of character education as a solution. The government's strategic plan for implementing the Pancasila student profile requires the contribution of counselors as front guards in strengthening character education in schools. This study aims to describe the role of Islamic guidance and counseling on shaping the profile of Pancasila students. The research method applied in this paper is qualitative research with a literature study approach. The researchers gathered the data from supporting articles, books, and research publications. This research reveals that the innovative programs such as online consultations, intensive character courses, and the role of Pancasila student agents are also explained as concrete efforts in achieving character education goals. A proper understanding of the role of counselors in harmonizing the Pancasila student profile, as well as the urgency of awareness and commitment of all school members to achieve intelligent students with character in national and state life.

Influence of academic leadership on organizational commitment of faculty members in private sector universities: mediating role of work engagement

Purpose This study aims to investigate the impact of academic leadership on the organizational commitment of faculty members in private universities in Punjab. Work engagement was examined as a mediator, and co-worker support was considered as a moderator. Design/methodology/approach The study used a quantitative, cross-sectional approach with convenience sampling. Regression and correlation analyses were used for hypothesis testing. Social exchange theory guided the exploration of academic leadership’s impact on faculty members’ organizational commitment. Findings Results of the current study indicated a positive and significant effect of academic leadership on organizational commitment. Work engagement was identified as a partial mediator in this relationship. However, co-worker support was found to be an insignificant moderator, indicating no substantial influence on the relationship between academic leadership and work engagement among faculty members in private-sector universities. Originality/value The similarity of the paper is less than 18%.

Pacific tuna update: 20th Meeting of the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission

The Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC), the governing body for the world’s largest tuna fishery, held its 20th annual Commission meeting in Rarotonga, Cook Islands, in December 2023. This commentary provides an overview of the meeting and its outcomes. Revisions to the tropical tuna measure were the main focus of member states’ attention, alongside the determination of an interim Target Reference Point for South Pacific albacore, compliance monitoring reporting, and updates to measures and harvest strategies for Northern Stocks. The members were able to comprehensively address the management of the tropical tuna species and made progress on harvest strategies. Harvest strategies are pre-determined management actions that would reduce the reliance on short-term management decisions and achieve a long-term management framework. However, other important issues, such as developing an allocation framework, remained unresolved despite the member's commitment to start developing such a framework at this year’s meeting. Emerging shifts in meeting dynamics were observed and may signal changes in how the WCPFC operates moving forward.

The background to this Community Service Activity (PkM) is: First, there is a need among congregation members for speakers/lecturers/who can speak Javanese so that the participants better understand the material for faith formation, in the context of commemorating Good Friday and Easter. Second, there is a need to refresh the commitment of congregation members in their faith in Jesus Christ. Third, there is a need for a correct understanding of Good Friday and Easter for the general public, so that they get the correct information about this. The aim of this Community Service activity is as follows: First, so that the message of the lecture about the coming of Jesus who gives life and abundance (John 10:10b) can be captured or understood more clearly by the recipients of this PkM service, because it is delivered in Javanese . Second, to explain the material for community service through faith formation lectures. Third, to determine respondents' satisfaction as participants in this community service activity. The results of this devotion are: First, faith formation material with the theme "Christ came to give life and abundance" including that Jesus is the door to guaranteeing safety and security, Jesus came to give life and abundance and Jesus guides the lost sheep. The level of satisfaction of the participants with the material and its delivery is at the level of hight (85,11%).

Analysis of Farmer's Perception and Constraints on Dairy Cooperatives in Amhara Region, Ethiopia

This study was done to examine the farmer’s perception and constraints on dairy cooperatives in Amhara region, Ethiopia. A sample of 266 smallholder dairy farmers was selected using a multi-stage sampling technique. Perception of farmers was analyzed using relative importance index, and constraints of dairy cooperative performance were analyzed using Henry Garrett's ranking technique. The result indicates that farmers have a positive perception of certain attributes of dairy cooperatives; such as increasing social networks, improving income, and serving as a saving source. This suggests that farmers believe these aspects of dairy cooperatives are beneficial. Conversely, farmers have concerns and dissatisfaction with the way the cooperative is running, the loyalty of members to the cooperative, member's treatment by cooperatives, and the decision-making process. The study also identified that lack of milk processing facilities, poor member awareness, and member involvement in the decision-making process are the foremost internal challenges of dairy cooperatives, while high cost of cross-breed cows, occurrence of animal disease, and low productivity of local breed cows are external constraints hindering dairy cooperative performance. Thus, to enhance farmers' perception and participation in cooperative activities, emphasis should be given to addressing concerns and improving the overall functioning of dairy cooperatives.

Situational Leadership Practices of Higher Education in China as Correlates to Organizational Commitment

This study delves into the relationship between situational leadership practices and the organizational commitment of faculty members within Chinese higher education institutions. Through a survey and in-depth interviews with 352 in-service teachers from three universities in Jiangxi Province, this research collected data on situational leadership practices and organizational commitment. The findings indicate that the seven dimensions of situational leadership practices—supportive behavior, leadership behavior, members' maturity level, teaching guidance behavior, academic exchange and collaboration, personal growth and self-management, and technology application—are significantly and positively correlated with the organizational commitment of faculty members. Specifically, supportive behavior and leadership behavior play a crucial role in enhancing the affective commitment, continuance commitment, and normative commitment of faculty members. Additionally, the study discovered significant differences in the situational leadership practices related to academic exchange and collaboration among teachers from different academic backgrounds. This research underscores the pivotal role of situational leadership in enhancing the organizational commitment of faculty members and the effectiveness of higher education institutions, and it offers targeted suggestions for improvement.

The Role of Management Psychology in Forming Attachment and Motivation for Organizational Performance

Management psychology is a management discipline that uses a psychological approach to understand the personality of each person in an organization. Psychological factors influence individual performance, communication patterns, and interactions in the work environment. The aim of this research is to explain the role of managerial psychology in shaping engagement and motivation for organizational performance. This research uses a literature review method from various books, articles and research reports. The results of the literature review conducted show that a supportive work environment can only be built through good leadership practices. Good leadership practices can be identified from how leaders manage communication and interaction patterns to meet the needs and expectations of each individual. These needs and expectations are met through a fair and humane approach to all members, clear career paths, rewards for work performance, quality development programs, objective job evaluations, and follow-up on job evaluation results. Leaders cannot create a comfortable work environment unless they earn the trust and loyalty of members. Trust can only be obtained when leaders care about all their members, are willing to accept opinions and suggestions, and are willing to share experiences with their members.

Model of the Relationship of Religious, Image, Trust, and Satisfaction towards Member Loyalty in BMT in Jambi, Indonesia

This research aims to evaluate the influence of Religiosity, Image, Trust, Satisfaction, and Loyalty of Baitul Maal wat Tamwil (BMT) members in Jambi, Indonesia, both with and without mediation by the variables image, trust, and satisfaction. Considering that the development of BMT in Jambi is slower than in other provinces in Sumatra, this research was conducted in Jambi, Indonesia. The research design uses quantitative methods with a survey approach to collect primary data through questionnaires distributed to 100 BMT members in Jambi, Indonesia, using a purposive sampling method for sample selection. Quantitative data was then analyzed using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) with the help of SPSS 22 and SmartPLS software. The research results showed that Religiosity significantly influenced BMT's Image, Trust, and Member Satisfaction in Jambi, Indonesia. The image does not affect member loyalty to BMT, but Trust and Satisfaction significantly influence member loyalty to BMT in Jambi, Indonesia. This research is expected to provide theoretical contributions in the field of Sharia marketing management and consumer behavior at BMT, as well as practical contributions for BMT management and related parties as information for determining marketing strategies for BMT products in Jambi, Indonesia to increase satisfaction and loyalty of BMT members in Jambi, Indonesia

Membangun Komitmen untuk Sukses: Studi Kasus pada Koperasi Petani Bunga di Kopeng Kabupaten Semarang

Human resource management and cooperatives are very important for sustainability and performance in an era of globalization and increasingly fierce economic competition. This study investigates flower farmer cooperatives in Kopeng, Semarang Regency, and focuses on appropriate management methods to increase member commitment, which impacts the success and competitiveness of the cooperative. This research found a lack of knowledge about the components that influence member commitment and how to increase it. This research found that social factors, such as relationships between members, and economic factors, such as financial benefits, have a large influence on member commitment. The research results show that strengthening social relationships and providing financial incentives are effective management strategies to increase member commitment. The research results show that two effective management approaches to increase member commitment are improving social relationships and providing financial incentives. In addition, it was found that increased communication and participation in decision making were important components in increasing member commitment. This research offers theoretical and practical insights into managing member commitment in the context of flower farmer cooperatives and provides recommendations for cooperative practitioners and academics about management strategies that can be implemented to increase member commitment, which in turn will improve cooperative performance and sustainability.

Exploring the impact of social responsibility on staff engagement in Ghanaian Universities:

Ghanaian universities have embraced a corporate identity and are actively participating in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), which is referred to as University Social Responsibility (USR). The purpose of this is to enhance the perception of identification (organisational identity) and promote employee involvement. This research examines the effect of University Social Responsibility (USR) on the level of involvement and commitment of staff members in Ghanaian institutions. It also proposes that the sense of identity plays a role in mediating the relationship between USR and staff engagement. This study utilised a cross-sectional survey methodology. The poll utilised a two-stage multi-stage sampling procedure to choose 412 participants. The survey utilised a validated questionnaire using a 5-point Likert scale. The questionnaire had a Cronbach's alpha coefficient (?) greater than 0.70. The data acquired from this questionnaire was customised for the survey. The data collected were configured and subjected to Structural Equation Modelling for analysis at a significance level of p<.05 using the SMART pls software. The findings indicate that identification perception does not significantly and directly predict the mediation effect of internal CSR on employee engagement (beta=0.008; t<1.96; p=0.439: p>0.05), and external CSR on employee engagement (beta=0.002; t<1.96; p=0.443: p>0.05) in the surveyed Ghanaian universities. The study concluded that the impression of identification did not operate as a mediator in the predicted association between the internal and external corporate social responsibility activities of the universities and employee engagement. According to the findings and conclusion, Ghanaian universities should take into account several elements and adopt a comprehensive approach when aiming to enhance employee job engagement. It is important not to exclusively concentrate on employee identification with the institution. It is advisable for the administration of Ghanaian institutions to develop efficient employee-focused engagement strategies and activities, both internally and externally, to boost the welfare of their workers, promote a sense of belonging, and improve overall performance.

Internal control and financial management in the treasury of a Caribbean religious organization

This study investigates the role of internal control in predicting financial management within the Treasury Department of a Religious Organization in the Caribbean, aiming to address financial mismanagement issues prevalent in faith-based organizations. Utilizing a non-probabilistic quota sampling method, 733 church treasurers were surveyed, with 147 treasurers forming the final sample, ensuring demographic diversity. Data collection employed a reliable questionnaire adapted from prior research. Results from simple linear regression analysis revealed that internal control significantly predicts financial management, explaining 69.2% of the variance. The findings underscore the importance of robust internal controls in enhancing financial management practices within religious organizations. Strengthening internal control mechanisms is crucial for fostering credibility and member loyalty, thereby promoting financial and spiritual well-being in faith-based institutions.

The Implementation of Value Chain Holistic Model of Ulos Weaving Fabric Creative Industry

This research has a long-term goal to increase the income of stakeholders in the us weaving fabric industry in North Sumatra and the National Gross Domestic Product in Indonesia. The specific target to be achieved is to improve the concept of a value chain holistic model of the Ulos weaving fabric industry, which will soon be implemented. The methods used in achieving this goal are an experimental study by a value chain holistic model of the Ulos weaving fabric industry using the strength and opportunities strategy. Through a Focus Group Discussion involving MUSRENBANG, KOPERINDAG, City Government, Provincial Government, Ulos Weaving Fabric Manufacturers Group, Weaver Group, and Producers Cooperative, information and data will be collected, which will be grouped into Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats information. The evaluation of data and information through a SWOT analysis shows the results that the proposed model is good and continues to implement a production and marketing strategy, where the establishment of a production cooperative will strengthen SMEs with a joint commitment of members and will facilitate the capital. The Association of SMEs was formed to produce quality production and standardized prices so as to be able to deal with internal competition properly, which will be able to support the Lake Toba tourist destination as a tourism activity in North Sumatera. Standing for marketing is also needed to support the construction of toll roads along the Lake Toba area through the tourist gateways of Medan and Silangit.

Voice Behaviours within Cooperatives. The Importance of the Relational Aspects of Leadership and Integrative Mechanisms for Loyalty

AbstractThis study explores the dynamics of cooperatives, with a focus on the internal challenges associated with sustaining democratic governance and promoting active member participation. The emphasis is on individual-level participation within the workplace, an often-neglected aspect in cooperative literature. An empirical model examines how member loyalty influences constructive and destructive voice behaviours. Leader–member exchange (LMX) relationship and integrative mechanisms are the proposed mediators in this context. Analysing data from 301 members of 19 worker cooperatives in Italy revealed different mediating effects through LMX, integrative mechanisms and a combined sequence. These findings enrich the cooperative literature by highlighting the importance of loyalty and voice behaviours in regenerating cooperative principles and member participation. The study also underscores the role of interpersonal relationships in affecting operational processes and explaining members’ loyalty and participation dynamics, proposing suggestions for cooperative management upholding democratic governance rooted in trust-based relationships, organic organisational models and mutual values.

Optimization model : Broiler chicken farmers plasma members from the core partnership of broiler chicken farming in Indonesia for recruitment and welfare

The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristics of broiler chicken farmers regarding their motivation in partnering in broiler chicken partnerships, to find out the factors that influence the loyalty of broiler chicken farmers to broiler chicken partnerships, and to know the optimization model for receiving BPJS contributions from members of broiler chicken partnerships. The method used is (research objective) this research is descriptive correlational, which aims to determine the description of the research variables and determine the relationship between these variables. The research results show that the breeder’s characteristics have a significant influence on the motivation to participate in the partnership. This means that the better the breeder’s characteristics, the higher the livestock’s motivation to participate in the partnership. From the results of the research presented, it can be concluded that Farmer characteristics influence the motivation for farmer participation in the plasma boiler chicken core partnership, farmer characteristics and community empowerment influence partnership member loyalty and motivation for participation in the partnership, community empowerment, partnership member loyalty, optimization of recruitment, and Empowerment influences member welfare, then member welfare influences the optimization of BPJS health contribution payments.

The Role of Transformational Leadership in Driving Educational Innovation

This study investigates transformational leaders who inspire and guide everyone in the educational community to commit to a common goal, provide clear direction, and create meaningful expectations for everyone. This research aims to develop a conceptual and comprehensive framework for how transformational leadership can influence and encourage change in educational innovation and related important concepts and obtain a comprehensive picture of how transformational leadership can influence and encourage change in educational innovation. The research method used in this journal is a literature review and descriptive method in which data is obtained from library sources, reading and taking notes to evaluate data obtained from the literature. Furthermore, the results of the review and analysis show that transformational leadership has a significant contribution in increasing innovation in the world of education. This study also explores the important role of transformational leaders in encouraging innovation through increasing innovation, technology support and commitment of organizational members.

The Effect of Digitalization and Customer Relationship Management on Member Loyalty

The study aims to find out and describe the influence of digitalization variables, and customer relationship management on member loyalty at BMT NU Artha Berkah, Cirebon Regency in the Millennial Generation. This research uses quantitative research methods. With a population of 185 active members who use products and services at BMT NU Artha Berkah, Cirebon Regency, then the sample was calculated using the slovin technique and was obtained at 126. The results of this study show that partially there is no significant influence between digitalization variables on member loyalty variables and a significance value of 0.842 which is > 0.05. Then there is influence and significant relationship between the customer relationship management variable and the member loyalty variable with a significance value of 0.000 which is <0.05. And simultaneously the digitization variable and the customer relationship management variable affect the member loyalty variable with a significance value of 0.000 which is <0.05.
