Comparative study of funding sources for faculty development following COVID-19 in China and the United States

In the post-epidemic era (COVID-19) context, funding university faculty development in China and the United States faces severe challenges. From the perspective of government education grants and social donations from foundations, except for top-ranked universities, most universities have faced increasing difficulties in financing faculty development. In this context, the U.S. government and U.S. universities have promoted university–enterprise cooperation for a long time, and faculty research teams independently seek enterprises’ financial support. These efforts have effectively alleviated the problem of insufficient funding for faculty development. In doing so, these cases provide a valuable example for the funding of faculty development in China. Universities, businesses, and local governments should think about “directed cooperation subjects” from the standpoint of funding units. As a result, university instructor growth will be accomplished through a progression from “money” to “win-win cooperation” and ultimately “wisdom.” As a result, long-term collaboration is required between local governments, businesses, and academic institutions. Moreover, there are two aspects to cooperation between local governments, businesses, and academic institutions. First, collaboration tends to be closer when economic conditions are better; conversely, cooperation tends to be lower when conditions are worse. Second, cooperation is more likely when the program has greater influence.

A Study on the Application of Python in Corporate Financial Analysis

This article examines the application value, current status, and challenges of Python in corporate financial analysis and proposes targeted solutions to enhance its extensive use in financial practices. Currently, despite Python being recognized as a key tool to bolster corporate financial analysis due to its robust capabilities in data processing and analysis, its application in finance departments is limited by several core issues: a general lack of programming knowledge among finance professionals, insufficient operational training, and a lack of policy guidance for digital technology transformation. To address these issues, the paper puts forward five recommendations: 1) leverage the guiding role of governments and accounting associations; 2) continuously improve higher education programs for finance and accounting talent, integrating programming skills with traditional accounting courses; 3) strengthen university-enterprise cooperation and deepen teachers' enterprise practice; 4) develop comprehensive internal training and incentive mechanisms within companies; and 5) transition from abstract application guidelines to detailed application instructions. These strategies aim to significantly enhance the Python application skills of finance personnel, drive the digital transformation of the financial industry, and thereby generate greater value for businesses.

Evaluation Model Construction of School-Enterprise Cooperation Innovation Ability Based on Big Data Analysis

Abstract This study analyzes SCIE papers published by 39 universities as a substantial big-data sample, employing latent class analysis to explore the characteristics of university-enterprise cooperation in Chinese institutions. It identifies five categorical attributes to construct a latent class model. This paper integrates hierarchical analysis with fuzzy mathematics to develop a comprehensive fuzzy evaluation model. By organizing and layering the factors, a rational set of indicators is established, and a hierarchical analysis structure is constructed. Utilizing a judgment matrix, the study calculates the importance rankings of all indicators, thereby highlighting the significant influence of the factors. Empirical results indicate that the model achieves optimal fit with five latent categories. Within the five primary indicators for evaluating the innovation capability of university-enterprise cooperation, the weight of innovation outcomes is the highest at 0.24, followed by industrial innovation at 0.22. The analysis reveals a regional imbalance in university-enterprise collaboration across the eastern coastal area, with Guangdong achieving the highest rating of 84.03, closely followed by Jiangsu. In assessing the innovation capability of university-enterprise cooperation in Guangdong's applied universities, the overall scores for universities categorized as B, C, and D are 3.641, 3.522, and 3.409, respectively. Notably, the scores for R&D investment intensity and Chinese patent applications are relatively low, suggesting these areas require enhancement to bolster support and development, thereby improving university-enterprise cooperation and innovation capabilities.

Study on the role of “pre-incubators” in a high-quality vocational education system based on an information diffusion model

Abstract From the perspective of integrating social resources, the pre-incubator provides specialized training for college talents through in-depth cooperation between enterprises or governments and colleges and universities and guides the high-quality development of the vocational education system. This paper puts forward the basic model of information diffusion, based on the construction of an incubator network, combined with the role of incubator network nodes, and puts forward the information diffusion model of a “pre-incubator” network based on information content. The network structure of “pre-incubator” knowledge diffusion is analyzed with respect to the interest-matching degree of information content. Combined with the intrinsic connection between “pre-incubator” and a high-quality education system, we analyze the functional positioning of “pre-incubator” in higher vocational education. Combined with the descriptive statistics, analyze the role of “pre-incubator” on university-enterprise cooperation and innovation quality. The statistics show that the mean value of the number of patents of higher vocational institutions is 2.954, and the number of joint invention patents of university-enterprise is 0.721, and the estimation results show that, compared with the universities without higher vocational “pre-incubator”, the quality of innovation of the universities relying on the higher vocational “pre-incubator” is significantly improved after the establishment of the higher vocational “pre-incubator”. The results show that the quality of innovation of the universities based on the higher vocational “pre-incubator” is significantly improved after the establishment of the higher vocational “pre-incubator” compared with that of the universities without it.

The Operation Strategy for the Training Project of Undergraduate Innovation and Entrepreneurship Guided by the Creator Training Course

In order to cultivate the innovative engineers, the Training Project of Undergraduate Innovation and Entrepreneurship, shorted as TPUIE, was presented from 2007. Also, in the Emerging Engineering Education, the TPUIE is one of most important methods to training the creativity, the engineering thinking and others abilities for the future works. Besides University-Enterprise cooperation, the Scientific and technological research projects can effectively promote the students to participate TPUIE. Unfortunately, the freshman can not realize what the difference between the high school education and the university education, so as they usually abandoned the TPUIE when there would be a little difficult or misunderstanding the knowledge in engineering. An Operation Strategy of TPUIE guided by the creator training course was presented to make sure that most freshmen can avoid the falling in their mind caused by the heavy responsibility of TPUIE in the first server months in campus. The strategy could promote the students to transform their interests into practice through the creator training course with some simple but visible tasks. Cases show that introduced by the creator tasks step by step, students’ innovative thinking and practical ability could be effectively improved, as well as the success rate of TPUIE were higher.

An analysis of the cultivating mode and its existing problems of university-enterprise cooperation for engineering majors in college in the information technology age

Abstract School-enterprise cooperation in talent cultivation enhances the quality of talent training, enriches and updates enterprise production resources, and promotes stable and healthy societal development. This paper, after reviewing relevant research materials, designs an evaluation index system for the university-enterprise cooperation talent training model for engineering majors in colleges and universities and employs the combination assignment method to calculate the weight value of each index. The comprehensive evaluation index method is used to assess the development level of the university-enterprise cooperation talent cultivation model. The cluster analysis is conducted for each college and university according to their measurement levels. The study results show that colleges and universities are classified into four types. Type A colleges and universities have the highest level of talent cultivation, though they only constitute 7.14% of the total. Type D colleges and universities are the least advanced in developing the school-enterprise cooperation talent cultivation model for engineering majors, with a score of 2.14 points. The correlation between the proportion of schools uniformly equipped with teachers’ terminals (0.493) and the development level of the university-enterprise cooperation talent cultivation model is the strongest. The optimization suggestions presented in this paper, in response to the research findings, provide an innovative and breakthrough direction for the university-enterprise cooperation talent cultivation model in colleges and universities.

Fostering talents in biotechnology major through the university-enterprise collaborative training mode

With the high-quality development of biotechnology-related industries in China, the demand for talents and training quality in this field have received extensive attention. Several universities in Nanjing have conducted in-depth analysis on the shortcomings of talent training that does not closely match the needs of industries and enterprises. These universities have since effectively leveraged its professional characteristics, deepened university-enterprise cooperation, and encouraged the alignment of professional development with industrial growth. Biotechnology major has always focused on nurturing individuals with "right conduct, good learning, and strong ability", and capitalized on its comparative disciplinary advantages. These universities vigorously promoted and continuously optimized the model of university-enterprise collaborative training, highlighted the integration of science, industry and education, focused on innovative education teaching methods, as well as practical engineering practice to enhance its quality. The preliminary training results show that this model has promoted students' engineering practical abilities and comprehensive qualities, garnering recognition from employers and students alike.

New frontiers in the teaching of the agricultural enterprise: elements for a debate

The ecological transition assigns a strategic role to farms in achieving the sustainable transformation of agricultural systems. Therefore, teaching of agricultural economics must make these demands of civil society its own and rethink topics, decision-making tools, and teaching methods fostering the transition to sustainable agriculture. The main aim of this article is discussing the relevant teaching topics and the useful decision support tools useful for concrete progress in agricultural economics in the cycles of university studies. Five topics are recognized as priorities for the rethinking of courses on agricultural economics: agricultural systems, equitable distribution of value, quality and value of agri-food products, territorial regeneration, protection and regeneration of natural resources. The paper focuses also on the nature and role of decision support tools in university teaching. Finally, some considerations are extended to the opportunities offered by formal teaching in the context of informal training such as university-enterprise cooperation and in the context of the internationalization of degree courses supported by the Erasmus+ program. Further analysis is needed to evaluate how to rethink both single training courses, and global study programs in agricultural economics.

This model has demonstrated its significance in enhancing students’ understanding of the market, their ability to adapt, and their overall potential for employment. The emerging cross-border e-commerce industry in Qingdao has introduced a new set of demands for skilled professionals in the business sector. These span complex topics such as cross-cultural communication, innovative digital marketing tactics, and a comprehensive awareness of the numerous legal and regulatory frameworks governing e-commerce businesses. In this particular context, the strategy known as “SCO-Integration-Combination” has been introduced as an innovative technique aimed at enhancing the collaboration between academic institutions and enterprises inside the Qingdao SCO demonstration zone. The findings of this study highlight the crucial significance of enhancing partnerships between universities and enterprises in the Qingdao SCO demonstration zone. These strategic relationships serve to accelerate the process of talent development and guarantee a smooth synchronization between educational paradigms and the constantly changing industrial requirements of China, particularly in the dynamic field of cross-border e-commerce.

Research on "zero distance" employment and realization path of applied undergraduate graduates

"Zero distance" employment is a new educational idea and direction, which is put forward by social progress and rapid development of enterprises for the training of applied technology and skilled talents. In this work, the concept and major characteristics of "zero distance" employment are interpreted, the research progress of "zero distance" employment is summarized and the realization path of "zero distance" employment is presented including determining the goal of training vocational ability of the post, using the integrated teaching method of "teaching, learning and doing" and implementing order-type training for deepening university-enterprise cooperation. The research results are expected to provide reference for the "zero distance" employment talent training of applied undergraduate education graduates.

From university basic research to firm innovation: diffusion mechanism and boundary conditions under a U-shaped relationship

The paradox between China's dazzling S&T output and the technological dilemma of enterprises challenges the positive effect of basic research on technological innovation, and extant research has not solved this problem. To bridge this theoretical gap, we integrated resource dependence theory and institutional theory, and matched the data of universities and governments at the provincial level and the data of enterprises at the micro level to clarify whether and how university basic research promotes firm innovation. We found that: (1) there is a U-shaped relationship between university basic research and firm innovation. (2) University-enterprise cooperation, S&T services and paper achievements played a mediating role, but invention patent achievements did not. (3) Neither the supporting nor the intervening hand of the government can moderate the U-shaped relationship. (4) Only when the enterprise has no political connection, is located in the eastern region, and is not in the provincial capital city or special economic zone, is the U-shaped relationship established. Furthermore, the functional mechanism and boundary conditions of the U-shaped relationship are further clarified through a robustness test of variable substitution and sample subdivision.

Coal is an important guarantee of energy security, and energy enterprises urgently need a large number of applied technical and management talents who love their jobs and can adapt to the needs of modern industry development.
