The interest in the spiritual heritage of Crimea is huge. Saint Luke of Crimea (Valentin Feliksovich Voino-Yasenetsky, 1877–1961) presents one of the most intriguing figures in Russian history. As a physician, scholar, philosopher, and theologian, he was canonized as a saint and left behind a significant scientific legacy, despite 11 years of persecution (arrests, exile, camps, prisons), and lost health. Numerous works have been written about Saint Luke, both by theologians and representatives of the scientific community. The saint himself authored twelve volumes of sermons and scholarly treatises on medicine and philosophy. His life path exemplifies an unprecedented act of selfless service to humanity. Professor V.F. Voino-Yasenetsky is regarded as the spiritual patron of military medics in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The aim of this research is to examine the history of his life, revealing the perspectives and worldview of V.F. Voino-Yasenetsky as both a physician and a theologian. In conducting this study, various methods have been employed, including systematic and comparative analysis, principles of historicism, and dialectical reasoning. To facilitate the systematic study of the life and work of Saint Luke, several tables have been created that classify his contributions to medicine and theology, as well as analyze his life trajectory. Furthermore, his iconographic representation as a physician-priest has been explored, alongside key theological works such as “Science and Religion” and “Spirit, Soul, and Body”, alongside his spiritual legacy as articulated in his sermons, wherein he emerges as a genuine patriot. The fate of the Russian intelligentsia has intertwined with the life of this saintly figure, illustrating a profound synthesis of secular intellect and spiritual devotion. This article aims to contribute to the understanding of Saint Luke’s multifaceted identity and enduring influence in both the medical and theological spheres, paving the way for further scientific inquiry into his remarkable life and legacy.
