The Collections and Catalog of Officer’s Library of the Staff of Trans-Amur Military District of the Separate Corps of Frontier Guards before the First World War

The high priority of studying the library collections and reading circle of frontier guards is stipulated by the important role that libraries play in organization leisure time for this category of military servicemen, whose service often takes place in so called “bear corners”, outside of civilization. In connection with the absence of publications on the history of Officer’s Library of the Staff of Trans-Amur Military District of the Separate Corps of Frontier Guards the presented article for the first time gives careful consideration its collection, acquisition of books and periodicals for different departments and underdepartments by January 1, 1911. The results obtained show that the catalog in a bibliographic sense has been prepared professionally. The book collection of the library contributed to the professional development of guards and solution of their official tasks, as well as to the organization of cultural leisure activities. The owner of the catalog served as the base for an analysis of this collection is clearly defined. The editions prepared by the Staff of the District and later presented in the book catalog are specially identified. The fulfilled investigation broadens and advances the understanding of this library, its collection specific features and also of publishing activities of the Staff of District and its participation in book holdings acquisition.

Academician B. V. Voitsekhovsky’s Book Collection

The study of personal libraries (book collections) is timely due to the implementation of the state policy to expose library collections and study regional book (documentary) heritage. One can note an increasing interest of book historians, specialists in the field of library and book study activities in private book collections of famous people, outstanding cultural and scientific figures, as well as personal libraries of scientists.A holistic look at the book collections of scientists through the prism of the scientist’s book environment complements and enriches the idea of the researcher’s creative laboratory, and provides additional material on the history of science and book culture. The scientist’s personal library acquires a memorial status and contributes to preservation of his memory.The article is dedicated to the memory of Bogdan Vyacheslavovich Voitsekhovsky, a famous scientist, who made a great contribution into the national science and economy, the main years of whose life were associated with the Siberian Branch (SB) of the USSR Academy of Sciences – SB RAS and Novosibirsk Academgorodok. The purposeof this article is to characterize the personal library of Academician B. V. Voitsekhovsky stored in the Central Scientific Library of UrB RAS. The work reveals the composition of the library, characterizes the owner’s records and inscripts; determines the status of the researcher’s book collection as a personal (memorial) library, reflecting the main directions of the scholar’s scientific and inventive activities. This will permit to add to the data on the history of Russian science, with the aim of popularization of historical and cultural heritage.

Print Book and e-Book Collections in Academic Libraries in Malawi

Arrival of e-books on the scene has had a significant effect on the collection development activities of many academic libraries. Whilst some libraries have made the radical decision to ditch print books in favor of e-books, others are cautiously navigating the new terrain by acquiring both. The current study used the survey research design to study the collection development trends of print books and e-books in academic libraries in Malawi. The study found that academic libraries in Malawi are acquiring both print books and e-books. The trend has resulted from collection development decisions, practices, and budgetary constraints.

Perancangan Sistem Inventaris di Perpustakaan Berbasis Website (Studi Kasus: Perpustakaan SMP Strada Nawar)

A library is an institution that professionally manages collections of written, printed, and recorded works with a standardized system to meet the users’ needs for education, research, preservation, information and recreation. To manage library collections effectively, a system that can support an inventory of book collections in the library is needed. One of the libraries that requires such a system is the Strada Nawar Middle School Library. By using an inventory system, librarians can record and store related data in the library more easily, such as borrowing data, book collection data, incoming book data, and outgoing book data. This study uses a qualitative method with the system development method using the prototype method and collects data through observation, interviews, documentation and literature review. The results of this study are library inventory applications that are compatible with the existing business processes in the Strada Nawar Middle School Library.

Artificial intelligence in Physics Education: a comprehensive literature review

This paper presents a comprehensive literature review on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in physics education. The study aims to explore the fundamental concepts of AI, its diverse applications in physics learning, and the benefits and challenges associated with its implementation. Through a systematic search of academic databases, a collection of relevant research articles, journals, conference papers, and books related to AI in physics education was obtained. The selected studies were analyzed and synthesized to develop a coherent framework for understanding the various ways AI is utilized in physics education, such as concept introduction, individualization, social interaction, and assessment. The findings underscore the positive impact of AI on enhancing conceptual understanding, providing personalized instruction, promoting social interaction, and improving assessment methods. However, challenges in terms of technical infrastructure, teacher training, data privacy, and ethical considerations were also identified. The paper concludes with recommendations for future research, addressing these challenges, and fostering effective implementation of AI technologies in physics education. This review provides valuable insights for educators, researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders seeking to leverage AI’s potential to revolutionize physics education.

Abstract: The Helen Wright Collection of Autographed Books at Vassar College testifies to a modernist market that was sustained in its capitalization of individual author signatures by a system of secondary literary labors. Straddling differently gendered spheres of this market, Wright competed with established book collectors while retaining a sense of "sentimental ownership" (Lori Merish) that set her apart from the bibliophile businessmen of her era. This endeavor involved commodifying celebrities such as Edith Wharton, whose conspicuous absence from the collection speaks to a conception of meaningful literary work that negates Wright's labor. Ultimately, the essay seeks to advance a broader discussion of how scholars can do justice to an understanding of literary production as integrally involving forms of labor that have historically been undervalued.

Don't memorize theorem proofs! The Modern Geometry of Osvaldo Sangiorgi

This paper aims to examine how deductive geometry was constituted in two didactic book collections by Osvaldo Sangiorgi — named by pre-modern (1950s) and the modern (1960s) ones. The guiding question of the study is: how does Sangiorgi change the proposal of a deductive geometry for the 3rd grade of junior Brazilian high schools in the modern collection compared to the pre-modern collection? Postulates, theorems, and demonstrations are examined in detail, emphasizing the quantitative and qualitative aspects, as well as the methodological recommendations. This analyzes shows that the modern collection brought about significant changes and contributions both in the scope of Euclidean geometry, of a geometry to teach, and in the methodological didactic aspects by proposing the insertion of exploratory and experimental exercises, different registers of representations, which means, in our point of view, a geometry for teaching, which can be interpreted as an intuitive geometry, taken from the 1st and 2nd grades of the Brazilian Minimum Program of 1951.

晚淸书院藏书目录的多种类型及其成因

During the late Qing Dynasty, the construction of the collection of books in the academies developed vigorously. According to statistics, there were more bibliographies for the collection of books in the academies handed down during this period than in the previous era combined. There are various types of bibliographies for the collection of books in the academies of the late Qing Dynasty. From a detailed perspective, there are both summary bibliographies that emphasize “debating the knowledge carefully and observing the origin clearly”, and account book bibliographies that only register the basic information of books. In terms of the selection of classification systems, there are not only classification of four types of classics, but also categories that seek to break the barriers between Chinese and Western learning and set up a new classification system, and some categories that are donation directory with donor item. The diversity development of the bibliography of late Qing academies was mainly influenced by the rapid growth of the book collection in different stages, the lack of a unified classification system, and the instability of book purchases. The book collection of late Qing academies achieved diversified development in the process of continuous transformation, and their collection theory and practice are in a stage of transitioning from traditional to modern times.
 
 晚淸时期, 书院藏书建设得到蓬勃发展, 据统计, 这一时期流传下来的书院藏 书目录比以往时代的总和还多. 晚淸书院藏书目录具有多种类型, 在详略程度上, 既有偏重“考镜源流, 辨章学术”的提要式目录, 也有只登记书籍基本信息的账簿 式目录. 在分类体系的选择上, 既有采用传统四部分类体系的目录, 也有力图打 破中西学壁垒, 设置新分类体系的目录, 更出现了以捐赠人为款目的捐赠目录. 晚淸书院藏书目录的多样性发展, 主要受晚淸书院藏书的阶段性急剧增长, 缺乏 统一分类体系以及书籍购藏的不稳定性因素影响, 晚淸书院藏书在不断的变革过 程中获得了多元发展, 其藏书理论和实践正处于从传统迈向近代的阶段.

Rancangan Sistem Informasi Perpustakaan Berbasis Web Pada SMK Negeri 1 Tanjungpinang

Technology that is now growing rapidly is widely used by the community for various activities, such as administrative activities. Of the many administrative activities that exist, the library is one of them that requires information technology in data management. The library is a building of an institution or agency that has the task of providing, compiling, and managing various collections of books. SMK Negeri 1 Tanjungpinang is one of the schools that still processes library data manually, which still does not utilize existing information technology. Data collection that is still done manually will cause problems, where data collection is slow and inefficient. Therefore, the design of this library information system will assist the administrative activities of SMK Negeri 1 Tanjungpinang by having a library data management website. This is useful for librarians in facilitating all data management processes, including making membership cards, the process of making reports, making and collecting data on borrowing and returning books. Making a web-based library information system at SMK Negeri 1 Tanjungpinang using the laravel framework with mysql database.

A library or book or book is a collection of paper or similar material containing written or printed results, bound into one material so that it is easy to read and totaling at least 48 pages. The term library then gets a prefix to become a library. Library means (a) a place, building, space provided for maintaining and using a collection of books, and so on, (b) a collection of books, magazines and other library materials that are stored for reading, study and discussion. other derivative terms such as: library materials, librarian, librarianship, and science. Library management is an effort to achieve goals by utilizing human resources, information, systems and sources of funds while taking into account management functions, roles and expertise. In order to achieve the goal, human and non-human resources are needed in the form of financial, technical, physical, equipment, natural, information, ideas, regulations and technology resources. These resources are managed through a management process that includes planning, organizing, leading and supervising the expected and dispensing of services. This study uses a qualitative approach to the type of library research. Library research or library research aims to collect data and information sourced from books, scientific articles, magazines, documents, notes, and historical stories as well as other stories contained in the library room. Changes and developments in the times have positive and negative impacts that consciously change human functions and are replaced by technology. Technological changes occur in all joints and areas of life, including Islamic educational institutions. This attracts the attention of stakeholders in the field of Islamic education in determining policy directions, innovating, developing contemporary educational curricula and media and changing conventional education patterns by synergizing with changes in the current era. Changes - changes in the context of improving service quality need to be considered to answer customer requests in this case students and parents of students and be able to print quality output and improve the quality of education in Islamic educational institutions.

ANALYSIS OF DIGITAL LIBRARY SERVICE QUALITY ON USER SATISFACTION USING WEBQUAL, LIBQUAL AND IPA METHODS

Universitas Pahlawan Tuanku Tambusai has used the information system Senayan Library Management System (SLiMS) version 7. SliMS is an integrated system to provide information to support operational, management and decision-making functions in libraries. However, there are still obstacles in its use, namely, the lack of tools and technology to support the implementation of the SLiMS system, the unattractive SliMS content, the OPAC service menu is less effective in searching for references in the library, and the book collection is rarely updated so it does not meet what the user needs. This study aims to measure the service quality of SLiMS from the user's perspective. This research instrument used Web Quality (WebQual), Library Quality (LibQual), and Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) methods. The results of this study resulted in a good level of system service quality but GAP was still found from perceived performance which still had a value of <0 or -0.63 and a conformity level of 78%, which meant that there were still results of user dissatisfaction with the performance provided by the service. Epistemologies of love and desire: Chicana Lesbians: The Girls Our Mothers Warned Us About

This article provides a context for the publication of Chicana Lesbians: The Girls Our Mothers Warned Us About (1991). As Chicana literature and feminism flourished, the visibility of Chicanas increased dramatically, and at the same it became noticeable that Chicana lesbian representations lacked considerably. During this time roughly from the 1980s through 2000, the focus on Chicana lesbian representation reached a new level of awareness which ultimately led to an increase in demand for publications by and about Chicana lesbians. However, this new visibility did not materialize so easily and there were still resistances in the academy and at national conferences that led to major, well-documented confrontations. This was a dramatic and momentous period for the establishment of a public discourse about Chicana lesbians within Chicana/o studies that still continues today. Arguably, contributions by Chicana lesbians provided many foundational theories critical to the development of Chicana feminist thought and Chicana Studies that merits recognition. Published by Third Woman Press in 1991 and edited by Carla Trujillo, this book collection signaled a turn in perceptions of Chicana/o gays and lesbians across communities and in academic circles. This article argues that the publication of Chicana Lesbians: The Girls Our Mother Warned Us About was made possible by a confluence of social, cultural, and literary engagements with other publications that arose from a politics of love and desire. As a result, love and desire are epistemic expressions that shape the collective voices in Chicana Lesbians.

Mikhail Zinovievich Vinokurov: Yakut Emigrant, Librarian at the USA Library of Congress

The purpose of this study was to reconstruct the personal history of Mikhail Zinovievich Vinokurov (1894-1983), one of the brightest representatives of the Russian intelligentsia of Yakutia, as a biographical narrative. The biography and heritage of M. Z. Vinokurov are considered in the historiography of the topic under study, publications of foreign and Russian researchers. The article reveals the American period of M. Vinokurov life in emigration, cites documents from his collection, transferred in 1983 to the State Library of Alaska (Alaska, USA), copies of which are stored in the National Library of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). M. Z. Vinokurov was a writer and public figure who devoted his whole life to enlightenment and creative activity for the benefit of his motherland. While in exile, being a librarian of the US Library of Congress, he initiated and implemented a global project to form the Russian collection of books, ethnographic sources of Siberia, manuscripts, photographs, letters related to Russian America, the Orthodox Church and the literary heritage of the Russian emigration. In this work, he saw his patriot mission. Introduction of Mikhail Vinokurov’s biographical world to the scientific context dictates the need to turn to new archival, visual and personal sources. The article also presents materials on the perpetuation of the memory of M. Z. Vinokurov by the National Library of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in the form of publishing documents from his collection. The plan-prospect of the collection of documents ”The Heritage of Mikhail Zinovievich Vinokurov” in 4 volumes was prepared and approved.The c ollection will become an important step in preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Yakutia and Russia as a whole, as well as in further studying the history of Russian intelligentsia and culture.

Formation of the Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library Named After V. G. Belinsky Collections in 1940

The article is devoted to the history of the collections acquisition of the Sverdlovsk Regional Universal Scientific Library named after V. G. Belinsky (SOUNB) in 1940 as a part of the study devoted to the history of the library collections formation. The efficiency of any library depends on the quality and quantity of the book collections, so the selection of documents is the main function of librarians throughout the entire period of the library existence. The author aims at tracing how approaches to the creation of collections have been changing for the space of work of the Library named after V. G. Belinsky. The purpose of the study is to present the history of the library through the collections acquisition. The task was to find documentary and statistical materials about the activities of librarians working with collections. The history of the acquisition is unstudied yet, therefore, official government documents, publications in the local periodical press and documents from the archive of SOUNB served as sources for research. For the first time, data revealed in the library archive are introduced into scientific circulation, and an attempt is made to recreate the history of the most important component of library activities – the acquisition of the largest library in the Middle Urals. Special attention is paid to the topic of obtaining the mandatory copy, opening the department for blind readers, creating an exchange stock, also the problems of current acquisition, preservation of book collections and lack of the necessary space for their placement are considered. To study the topic, the method of historical alignment of the chronological sequence of events has been applied.

Rare Editions of N. M. Karamzin’s Works in Novosibirsk Libraries

Lifetime and rare editions of works of great writers, researchers, public figures are of special cultural and historical value and enjoy the increased attention of the keepers of book collections and visitors of book museum exhibitions. The purpose of this article is to introduce into scientific circulation the rare copies of domestic and foreign editions of works of the historian and writer N. M. Karamzin (1766 – 1826), stored in the Novosibirsk State Regional Scientific Library (NSRSL) and the State Public Scientific and Technological Library of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SPSTL SB RAS). Among them are books from the library of the Kolyvan-Voskresensk mining plants, including those received there from personal collections of mining engineers, copies of the journal “Vestnik Evropy” for 1802-1803 from the collection of V. S. Mikhalkov, a volume of “History of the Russian State” used in one of the oldest educational institutions in Russia – the Smolensk Boys’ Gymnasium, a volume of a lifetime edition of the “History of the Russian State”, which belonged to the historian, archaeographer P. M. Stroev, the compiler of the “Key, or alphabetical index to the “History of the Russian State” by N. M. Karamzin”.Special attention should be paid to the first complete Russian-language edition of “On Ancient and New Russia in its Political and Civil Relations”, written in 1811, addressed directly to Emperor Alexander I and for censorship reasons first published only abroad, in Berlin, in 1861. A copy from the Department of Rare Books and manuscripts of the State Public Scientific Library of SB RAS is unique in that it contains proofreading notes of the historian A. N. Pypin. Relying on this copy of the Berlin edition of N. M. Karamzin’s work and consulting the handwritten copies of it which were at his disposal, he prepared the first complete publication of the text of this manifesto of Russian conservatism in Russia in 1900 as an appendix to his monograph “Social Movement in Russia under Alexander I”. A careful study of valuable publications from the collections of Novosibirsk libraries deepens our knowledge about the book culture of Siberia and, more broadly, about the history of Russian-language book culture, about the history of the formation of Novosibirsk book collections, demonstrates the continuity of these collections in relation to the outstanding book collections of the past.

Letters of D.V. Ulyaninsky to P.P. Shibanov as a Source on the History of Bibliophilia and Bibliography

On the basis of epistolary sources from 1895—1913 from the Department of Manuscripts of the Russian State Library and the Russian State Archive of Literature and Art, the history of the relationships between D.V. Ulyaninsky and P.P. Shibanov is reconstructed. The letters contain information about the sources and principles of the formation of D.V. Ulyaninsky’s library, his bibliographic studies, prices for antique books, personal relations, as well as about the lifestyle and communication style of the bibliophile, who avoided ritual visits on the occasion of holidays and took care of replenishing his book collection constantly, even on vacation and during illness. The sources demonstrate exactly which defects D.V. Ulyaninsky considered unacceptable for the books of his collection. The article shows the source aspects of his scientific work: determining the authenticity of book monuments, establishing their authorship and the history of the text. The unapproved coat of arms of the Ulyaninskys, which the bibliophile used on his seal in 1902, is first described. It is concluded that the letters of D.V. Ulyaninsky to P.P. Shibanov have a significant cognitive potential for studying the history of bibliophilia, bibliography, trade in antique books and intellectual life of Russian at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries.

Moral Principles in Naladiyar or Vaelanvaetham

History says Tamil literature is very old and unique. There are many types of literature that have flourished in the Tamil language and among them Didactic literature have gained distinction. This Didactic literature guides people in a good way. After the Sangam period, the literature emphasized justice and morals in abundance. During the rule of Kalapirar who came from the north, both the internal and external literature of Sangam literature lost its values. The way of life of Tamil people changed. Justice and virtue were needed in that context. The collection of books that appeared then is Eighteen Anthologies. Naladiyar or Vaelanvaetham is one among those Eighteen Anthologies. This book is a collection of songs written by many Jain sages. Like Thirukkural, Naladiyar is divided into three major divisions. The purpose of this article is to analyse the ideas, thoughts and opinions described in Naladiyar to improve the human society.

Implementasi Model Golden Rules Of User Interface Design Oleh Theo Mandel Pada Aplikasi Diary Sumsel

This study aims to evaluate the interface design of the Sumsel Diary application and find out its strengths and weaknesses using the Golden Rules of User Interface Design model by Theo Mandel. The research method used is a case study supported by literature studies such as scientific journals and books that are in line with the discussion of this article, and reinforced by simple interviews with users of the Sumsel Diary application. The results of the discussion show that the design of the Sumsel Diary application interface can be said to be good, although there are still many shortcomings. This can be seen from the evaluation results with three aspects from Theo Mandel namely, the first aspect positions the user as a control which shows that the Sumsel Diary application is user friendly even though there are deficiencies in collection downloads and supported smartphones. The features and interface display are easy for all users to understand, then finally there is the value of consistency from coloring, layout, positioning of features and menus in the Sumsel Diary application. However, there are also some deficiencies in technical issues and book collections in the application database.
