Research on Innovation and Flexibility of Senior High School Education System

Chinese senior high school exam-oriented education has been continuously influenced by the Chinese traditional education system for thousands of years which is often based on scores and rankings as the core competition points. In modern times, constant education reform and learning from the continuous improvement and improvement finally evolved into the current exam-oriented education system. Under the exam-oriented background, it has its own unique excellent characteristics, but it also has some shortcomings which mainly embody at the lack of innovation and flexibility, the severe situation of students' psychological behavior under great pressure and other small aspects. This paper will analyze the education system from these aspects, and puts forward relevant suggestions for improvement in view of the problems existing in exam-oriented education: pay more attention to students' academic performance and comprehensive quality and ability, and build a Chinese-style quality-oriented education suitable for Chinese senior high school students. Additionally, it is better to introduce related technology to assist in order to learn from the existing basis and constantly innovate. Only in this way can China promote a balanced development of China's education.

The pilot application of escape rooms as a method to evaluate basic nursing skills: a qualitative study of student experiences

BackgroundEscape rooms have become increasingly popular in recent years as teaching tools. However, traditional Chinese education still relies heavily on teacher-led instruction, and there is limited research on the application of escape room-style teaching methods in nursing education. This study initially applied the escape room method to evaluate basic nursing skills and aimed to explore the experiences of undergraduate nursing students participating in escape room-style assessments for basic nursing skills using qualitative interviews.MethodsIn this study, a descriptive phenomenological research method was employed to conduct in-depth interviews with 12 undergraduate nursing students who participated in a basic nursing skills assessment using an escape room scenario. Interview data were organized and analysed using the Colaizzi’s seven-step analysis method.ResultsData analysis revealed two overarching themes and five corresponding sub-themes. The primary themes included learning experience and learning feedback, while the sub-themes encompassed a relaxed environment, motivation enhancement, team collaboration fostering a learning community, integration of theory and practice, cultivation of critical thinking skills, improvement of assessment design plans, as well as inclusion of teacher evaluation and review sessions.ConclusionsEscape room teaching has received positive evaluations. It combines relaxation, fun and interactivity, and supports teaching goals such as improving students’ initiative, teamwork and critical thinking. Future improvements to escape room training can enhance its role in consolidating knowledge and improving nursing skills.

Current approaches and future trends in integrating digital education methods in Chinese traditional art education

Introduction. The modern information society has had a significant impact on the education systems of many countries around the world. It enables openness, accessibility, mobility and lifelong education. In recent years, arts institutions and educators have grappled with finding the right balance between traditional and digital arts education. Traditional art techniques have long been the foundation of art education in colleges and universities. Aim. This study aims to investigate the integration of digital education methods in Chinese traditional art education and examine future trends and directions in this field. Focusing on exploring current approaches and anticipating future developments, the research seeks to provide insights into the evolving landscape of digital integration within the context of Chinese traditional art education. Research methods. To achieve the research objectives a systematic review involved to conducting a comprehensive search of relevant literature, including academic journals and conference proceedings. Studies discussing various methods, technologies, and pedagogical approaches for incorporating digital education in traditional art education settings would be identified and synthesized. A systematic review would involve searching and analyzing literature to explore methods of integrating digital education into Chinese traditional art education. Results. This study sheds light on the current approaches to integrating digital education methods in Chinese traditional art education while also offering insights into future trends and directions in this field. Based on Google Scholar search results using the keywords "digital education" and "traditional arts education" resulted in 19,800 publications. Multiple indexes were used leaving 13,600 publications. After filtering the types of literature into articles and review articles, 65 publications remained. Additionally, we removed duplicates, poorly indexed documents, and documents inconsistent with digital arts education research, reducing the number of publications to 10. Each bibliography entry includes author, institution, abstract, Google Scholar category, research topic, year of publication, publications (volumes), and references. In conclusion this study highlights the need for ongoing research and adaptation to effectively navigate the complexities of integrating digital education into traditional Chinese arts education while preserving its rich cultural heritage for future generations.

Literacy Transmission and Development of Xu Gongning Bianzhong in Chinese Universities

The Xu Gongning Bianzhong, an ancient musical instrument dating back to the Western Zhou Dynasty, embodies China’s rich cultural heritage. This study investigates the literacy transmission and development of Xu Gongning Bianzhong in Chinese universities, aiming to understand its preservation and development in traditional Chinese music education. Utilizing qualitative interviews, archival research, and thematic analysis, the research focuses on the School of Music at Pingdingshan University in Henan Province, China, as the research site. A total of 18 informants, including experts in Bianzhong reproduction and performance, students, and teachers, provide insights into the transmission process. Data analysis reveals structured classroom teaching, curriculum integration, and student experiences shaping Bianzhong’s literacy. Results highlight historical findings, innovative teaching methods, and positive student feedback, emphasizing the instrument’s cultural significance and educational impact. The study suggests a continued emphasis on immersive teaching practices, interdisciplinary collaboration, and cultural preservation efforts within higher education settings.

Investigate the impact of different school education systems on adolescent mental health (depression and anxiety) in Beijing.

The purpose of the study was to explore the differences in students' mental health levels across different types of schooling systems. The current Chinese education system is basically divided into two categories. Chinese traditional education and international education system. Traditional education puts more emphasis on competition and scores, while international education emphasizes a holistic and diverse educational environment. In this study, depression anxiety will be the two criteria that I used to measure students' mental health problems. I have used A convergent parallel mixed-methods and semi-structured interview to conduct both both quantitative and qualitative research. The effect of different education system are described by three dimension, Teacher-student relationship, Peer-relation, Academic pressure. Studies have shown that public school students show higher mean scores on depression and anxiety scales compared to international school students, and qualitative research suggests that this may be due to differences in the educational environments provided by the two schools and in students' perceptions of stress.

The Application of Informatization Teaching and Flipped Classroom in the Teaching of Traditional Culture in College Languages

For the teaching of traditional Chinese culture in universities, fully utilizing existing resources for innovation is crucial to its teaching effectiveness. Hence, this study advocates for the utilization of information technology and the flipped classroom methodology in university-level traditional Chinese culture education. By thoroughly examining the fundamental goals of teaching traditional Chinese culture at universities, this paper suggests employing information technology to develop diverse educational scenarios. These scenarios encompass generating cultural contexts, simulating cultural experiences, enhancing interactive exchanges, and broadening the scope of educational materials, all aimed at enriching the pedagogical approach to traditional Chinese culture. In the stage of designing flipped classrooms for traditional Chinese culture teaching in universities, the ARCS theory was introduced. Guided by attention motivation, association motivation, confidence motivation, and satisfaction motivation, research was conducted on course content design, teaching methods and means, learning experience, feedback, and evaluation. Through the integrated application of information technology and flipped classroom strategies, our objective is to diversify the pedagogical approaches for traditional culture. This initiative is designed to boost students' comprehension and learning outcomes regarding traditional culture, foster their enthusiasm and knowledge depth in traditional Chinese cultural studies, and encourage the preservation and evolution of traditional cultural heritage.

Research on the Impact of Organization Commitment on Traditional Chinese Medicine University Teachers' Innovative Work Behaviour

As a result of an imbalance of innovation, several countries' increase in productivity has stopped, which is why Education 4.0 promotes development. A world-class system of education that develops outstanding learners and cutting-edge concepts is essential, and talented teachers serve a key role in development—results from the current study on Innovative Work Behaviour (IWB) at Traditional Chinese Medicine University. Professors are discussed online. These research outcomes show that HE institutions significantly impact Organisation Commitment (OC) and IWB, with OC functioning as an initial step towards IWB. The paper intended to provide insight into how Higher Education (HE) institutions in the nation of China employ the principles of Traditional Chinese Medical Education Innovative Work Behaviour (TCMEWB) along with factors that might impact IWB analysis. The medical education on-the-job teachers' TCMEWB is investigated regarding their respective emotions, strengths, and adaptability. Similar to previous studies and current hypotheses, outcomes show that stress and unreasonable assumptions affect the relationship between self-confidence and TCMEWB, with both theoretical and practical impacts. The investigators in the southwest region of China analysed 500 teachers (F=75.5%; M = 24.5% ) and reported that IWB and the impact of OC dramatically improved academic achievement. The results of the study were examined using Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) and SPSS. Studies from the two statistical tests of weight (t-test and analysis of deviation) indicate that the mean OC of teachers at China's Traditional Chinese Medicinal Higher Education Institutions depends on demographic factors such as Experience, Education, and Salary. In order to figure out the level of OC among teachers, investigators evaluated several factors, including emotions, strength, and adaptability. The correlation and coefficients for these factors vary from 0.24 to 0.57.

Additionally, the article underscores the role of learning classic English translation appreciation in enhancing language proficiency, literary appreciation, cross-cultural communication, and cultural confidence. Lastly, it suggests that employing the teaching method of classic translation can effectively support students' vocabulary learning, memory, and understanding of special meanings in cross-cultural contexts, fostering natural experiences of cultural differences in language and text conversions and promoting cross-cultural awareness.

The Influence of UK Education on Chinese Primary English Teaching through a Cultural Education Perspective

As the present-day lingua franca, English is increasingly becoming more critical. Schools worldwide have adopted measures to teach non-native students English as part of their national curriculum to provide students with a broader range of opportunities in the global market. This paper investigates the current emergent problems in the Chinese teaching methodology and analyzes the UK teaching methods to seek possible Western solutions. This paper mainly focuses on the English classes taught at primary schools in the UK and China to explore this cross-cultural communication difference. The study will first raise awareness of these problems affecting students, which include a lack of motivation, poor language knowledge, and a poor language environment. Having established the main concerns and better understanding of the broader teaching spectrum, the study will make possible modifications to the traditional Chinese teaching of second language learners.

Effectiveness of a Game-Based Mobile App for Educating Intensive Critical Care Specialist Nurses in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation Pipeline Preflushing: Quasi-Experimental Trial

Abstract Background In the context of training specialist nurses and nursing education, a game-based mobile app was used as a simulation to teach intensive critical care specialist nurses the knowledge and skills of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) pipeline preflushing. Objective This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a game-based mobile app on improving ECMO pipeline preflushing skills in intensive critical care specialist nurses. Methods A total of 86 intensive critical care specialist nurses who were learning ECMO for the first time were included in this study. The nurses were divided into 2 groups: a control group (n=43) and an experimental group (n=43). Participants in the experimental group used a game-based mobile app for simulation exercises; the control group received no additional intervention. All participants took a theoretical test and a skill operation test at the beginning of the study and 1 week later. The differences in scores between the 2 groups were compared, and the learning curve of the experimental group was observed. Results The final theoretical test scores (88.44 and 85.02) and skill operation test scores (89.42 and 86.33) of the experimental group and control group, respectively, were significantly higher than those of the initial tests (theoretical test scores: 75.88 and 74.42; skill operation test scores: 75.44 and 75.93; all P<.001). The scores of the final theoretical test (88.44) and the final skill operation test (89.42) in the experimental group were higher than the scores of the control group (85.02; P<.001 and 86.33; P<.001, respectively). Learning curve analysis showed that the experimental group needed an average of 17 operations to master the skill. Conclusions This study suggests that a game-based mobile app may be more effective for intensive critical care specialist nurses in ECMO pipeline preflushing education than traditional Chinese lecture-practice education.

An Empirical Research on the Reasonable Limits of Teacher Discipline in Primary and Secondary School in China - Focusing on Corporal Punishment

With the promulgation of the Rules on Educational Discipline for Primary and Secondary School Teachers (for Trial Implementation), China has initially established a four-tier educational disciplinary system. The disciplinary power is a natural and legitimate power of teachers, and discipline is a necessary means and statutory function for teachers to carry out their educational management duties, while the current operation of the disciplinary power in China shows a trend of polarisation. Corporal punishment, an important part of Chinese traditional education system, is still used by teachers today, but there is a lack of written regulations to define its form and judge its reasonableness. In order to achieve a rational return to corporal punishment and discipline, it is necessary to further refine the relevant legal policies and build a better educational disciplinary system, as well as to strengthen the guidance of ideas and public opinion, so as to build a favourable social environment for teachers to implement corporal punishment and discipline within reasonable limits.

A Comparative Study of International and Local School Teachers’ Perceptions and Enactments of Humility in Hong Kong

Abstract While humility has been widely explored philosophically and psychologically, there is little research on humility in educational settings. Based on semi-structured interviews with teachers from local and international schools, we investigated the role of humility in the pedagogy and wider contexts of schools in Hong Kong. Both international and local teachers regarded humility as being important for education, but they conceptualized and enacted it differently, reflecting the high power distance of Hong Kong’s Confucian heritage culture and teacher-centeredness of traditional Chinese education, and the more social constructivist form of pedagogy in international education. These findings provide a lens to understand how teaching and teacher-student relations are shaped by cultural, pedagogical, and educational philosophies and practices in different educational settings.

The Effect of Gratitude Intervention on Life Satisfaction of University students: The Role of Self-Esteem

Gratitude education is very common in traditional Chinese education. Gratitude is both an emotion and a trait (Rash et al.,2011). It is a tendency to perceive benefits bestowed by others or by some impersonal source, and accompanied by positive, social emotions (Lin C.C.,2015). As a trait, gratitude draws attention to positive outcomes in life (Emmons et al.,2019). Furthermore, this project chooses life satisfaction and self-esteem as variables in the research. ‘Life satisfaction is a subjective evaluation of overall quality of life’，and is the key dimension of subjective well-being (Proctor et al.,2009). Self-esteem is a sense of individuals’ general value or worth from his or her aspects (Rosenberg, 1979). Self-esteem is commonly considered as the “feeling that one is good enough” (Orth & Robins,2014). Life satisfaction and self-esteem are often used in studies of gratitude，but few of them find the complicated correlations between these three factors. So the purpose of this project is to explore whether gratitude interventions can enhance gratitude and subsequently increase life satisfaction and self-esteem.

An Effective Proposal of Educational Development of College Students' Cultural Identity in the New Era

With the accelerated development of economic globalization and the international integration of cultural information, the cultures of various countries, especially the traditional culture, are constantly displayed to the world. For the Chinese youth in the new era, how to renew the identification of the excellent traditional Chinese culture and view the foreign culture correctly is the key topic that the Chinese society needs to pay close attention to at the present stage. Due to the impact of market economy, multiple values and the network, college students lack the cognition of the existence of excellent traditional culture, weaken the cognition, and deviate from the knowledge and practice. Correct and reasonable guidance and standardized education of young college students to understand traditional Chinese culture is not only related to the judgment of young college students' values and the choice of behavior, but also related to the stability and development of the whole youth education society. Compared with the traditional Chinese and western culture education mode, western countries highlight the combination of traditional culture and modern ruling class ideology, attach importance to traditional culture education, enhance the sense of national identity, and have unique characteristics in traditional culture education. In combination with the above, the Chinese excellent traditional culture identity education should conform to the development of The Times and the needs of students, innovate the way of expression; integrate and optimize resources, strengthen the construction of campus culture, and build a new path of Chinese excellent traditional culture identity education.

Artificial intelligence and its influence in adult learning in China

PurposeThis research aimed to examine the current status of artificial intelligence's (AI's) integration into Chinese adult education, by analyzing the influences that AI has had on current adult education practices in China and by discussing the opportunities and challenges that adult education in China is faced with under the rapid AI development in the past 12 years.Design/methodology/approachThis research employed systematic literature analysis. CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure) Chinese Journals Full-text Database was used to collect scholarly publications on the use of AI in adult education in China that was published in the past decade. Data analysis included the following steps: identifying key words and phrases, detecting underlying meanings, searching for logical connections and relationships, collecting and connecting evidence to the research questions, and drawing logical and credible conclusions.FindingsThe findings indicated that AI has been gradually integrated into Chinese adult education through innovations and explorations and AI's influence is broad and profound. More specifically, the following five main themes were identified. The field's understanding of AI technology and AI's influence on adult education has evolved and become more comprehensive; AI challenges traditional Chinese adult education practices by helping to actualize personalized learning and precision education; AI transforms adult learning resource development; AI helps to turn learning environment into an open intelligent learning system; and lastly, AI urges the shift of adult educator's role in adult learning.Research limitations/implicationsThis study is not without limitations. Contextualized in China, this study shares the limitations with other single country studies. One such limitation is “cumulation” issue. This study should be replicated in other country contexts to further validate the generalizability of the five main themes identified in this research.Practical implicationsThe five themes identified in this study can help understand the promises and challenges that AI brings to the field of adult education in China. These five themes can also serve as an integrated lens through which one can make sense of AI's integration into other countries' adult education practices.Originality/valueThis paper fulfills an identified need of understanding the current status of AI's integration into and influence on the field of adult education in China.

From the Hundred Days' Reform (1898) to the New Policies at the End of the Qing Dynasty ----The Imperial University of Peking in a Time of Drastic Change

The establishment of the Imperial University of Peking was a major event in the Hundred Days' Reformation and was preserved in the conflict between reformers and conservatives. Before the fall of the Qing Dynasty, the University witnessed the ancient empire's attempts to improve its backwardness. Against the backdrop of imperial reform, the newly established university also experienced the impact of old and new forces from the court itself. The country's new talent training system was modernized by constructing schools at all levels. Changes to the imperial examination system led to a change in the traditional path of upward mobility for students who had previously studied to become officials in the study of science and culture. Meanwhile, the University was faced with a composition of students from different educational backgrounds, from those who received a traditional Chinese education to Chinese students who received westernized knowledge, who together experienced the transformation of the education system and the talent system in modern China and had a significant impact on the modernization process in China. The article also discusses the life experiences of some formerly Jinshi titled intellectuals after the Qing government ceased to exist, mainly in the subsequent Republic of China era.

Constructing a modern theoretical system of education with Chinese characteristics

Well-developed educational system leads to a strong country. The Chinese government has emphasized and clarified the priority of developing the Chinese educational system, and it has accelerated efforts to modernize it to position China as one of the world leaders in education. This essay discusses the priority of developing the Chinese educational system, and it outlines the main factors for the construction of a modern theoretical system of education with Chinese characteristics. It argues that this construction should be based on the actual practice of education in China in the new era, it should be deeply rooted in the methods and wisdom of traditional Chinese education, it should incorporate the educational ideology and concepts nurtured by the modern Chinese revolutionary culture, it should draw on the latest scientific advancements and achievements throughout the world and keep pace with the development of the times, and, finally, it should be informed by the study of the nature and development of human beings with special attention to the theoretical issues embedded in educational activities themselves, which relate to the deepest levels of a philosophical worldview.
