Development of International Chinese Language Education in Iran: An Analysis in the Context of Iran’s Foreign Language Policy Characteristics

This paper focuses on examining the relevant policies concerning Chinese language education within Iran’s foreign language education policy framework from the perspective of its historical context. By analyzing the characteristics of Iran’s foreign language policy and the current situation of Chinese language teaching in Iran, this paper studies the future development of international Chinese language education in Iran.

Analysis of lingual situation and foreign language teaching methods (quality) in China and Kyrgyzstan

Relevance The development of a quality language policy fully depends on the level of development of the language situation in the state. For this reason, during the introduction of the current reforms for the improvement of Kyrgyzstan, particular attention should be devoted to the state languages and their prevalence in society.Purpose. The research aims to study the linguistic situation in Kyrgyzstan and China and to investigate the concepts of foreign language teaching in these countries.Methodology. Analysis and synthesis, comparison, deduction, generalization, and abstraction were used in the study.Results. As a result, the characteristics of education, as well as the provision of the language situation in China and Kyrgyzstan, were revealed. Historical, political, economic, and socio-cultural aspects were characterised based on the source for the development of the state language policy. The study also differentiated the societies of China and Kyrgyzstan based on the nationality of the people living in these states. Such results allowed identifying the most common languages and dialects in these territorial entities, as well as determining the level of balance between them. In addition, the study explored approaches and starting points for Chinese and Kyrgyz language teachers. Based on this, the main pedagogical tools, both formal and informal, aimed at developing students� linguistic skills were characterized.Conclusions. Following the study, methodological recommendations for the formation and provision of effective interaction of educational actors were developed. The results are appropriate to be used in the process of developing curricula and materials for those involved in foreign language teaching.

Kowalewski Apropos the Chinese Book “Ming Xin Bao Jian”: Following up a Diary Entry

This article examines the notes of the prominent Russian mongolist of Polish origin Józef Kowalewski (1801–1878) in his “Diary of studies for 1832”, the manuscript of which is kept in the Department of Manuscripts of the Vilnius University Library. This diary entry has been previously published several times in the form of a facsimile. It is an excerpt in English from the annotation on the Chinese book Ming xin bao jian (明心寶鑑, Precious Mirror for the Enlightenment of the Mind) from the Protestant missionary magazine published in Malacca. The article clarifies and significantly supplements the previously published commentary on this entry, defines The Indo-Chinese Gleaner magazine as the source of the English annotation and William Milne (1785–1822) as its author. It is assumed that J. Kowalewski’s acquaintance with W. Milne’s note had determined later choice of Ming xin bao jian as a Chinese language teaching material at The Imperial Kazan University. The very fact of choosing this book by a Protestant missionary to be presented as an important manual on the Chinese language and the traditional worldview of the Chinese is discussed. The conclusion is made that, formally remaining in opposition to the earlier Catholic missionary work, Protestant preachers in assessing Ming xin bao jian were in consent with their predecessors.

Application of Sustainable Education in Chinese Language Education in the Context of Big Data

Abstract This paper explores all student related data using educational data mining techniques to draw conclusions about their performance and behavior. The main idea and theoretical basis of Random Forest is described, the importance of each feature is calculated using Random Forest based Important Feature Selection Algorithm, and each feature is ranked and the best feature is selected as the effective feature for constructing the performance prediction model. By Light GBM is to further improve the GBDT algorithm and XGBoost algorithm to construct the Light GBM grade prediction model in order to improve the training speed and the prediction ability of the model. In order to verify the feasibility of the constructed model, the application of sustainable education in Chinese language education is tested from various aspects such as model testing as well as learning behavior. The results show that the accuracy of the Ligth GBM grade prediction model increases from 0.68 to 0.918 when the course progress is raised from 10 to 100, i.e., the accuracy of the Ligth GBM grade prediction model in predicting students’ grades gradually increases as the course progresses, so that it can effectively analyze the application of sustainable education in Chinese education.

Research on the Reform of Ancient Chinese and Modern Chinese Language Teaching in the Context of Deep Learning

Abstract In this paper, we use a deep learning algorithm to optimize the loss function of Chinese data, dynamically adjust the learning rate by gradient descent method, and adopt an exponential moving weighted average to deal with language information. The second-order information of the historical gradient is processed to calculate the change value of the objective function of the Chinese language variables, and the learning rate is scaled accordingly, which is inversely proportional to the teaching reform model. Ultimately, the error between the objective function value and the predicted value is optimized with a smaller learning rate, and the neuron learning rate is scaled to achieve the best solution for the language teaching reform of ancient Chinese and modern Chinese. The accuracy rate of the deep learning algorithm is verified to be as high as 0.9, which provides reliable technical support for teaching reform. The reform’s weighting of teaching content to 0.471 underscored its significance in teaching. Fifty-three percent of the students showed strong interest in the teaching method reform, highlighting the popularity of teaching mode innovation. The teaching rating before the reform increased by 6 points compared to that after the reform, showing the positive impact of the reform on teaching.

Parental involvement in online education during Covid-19 lockdown: a netnographic case study of Chinese language teaching in the UK

Abstract This paper reports on a study of Chinese parents’ involvement in their children’s heritage language (HL) development during the COVID-19 lockdowns in the UK. Involving seven transnational families, we examined the roles parents played during the online learning sessions and the factors shaping their involvement. Employing a netnographic approach, this study incorporates online classroom observations, semi-structured and focus group interviews with parents, and analysis of their Instagram posts. The study underscores the critical role of parental involvement (PI) in enhancing children’s HL education, offering insights into distinct parental roles, including as emotional supporters, co-educators, teaching assistants, and technical supporters. The study introduces a three-dimensional PI model within the framework of family language policy (FLP), enhancing our understanding of FLP by concretely manifesting what, how and why parents get involved in their children’s HL development. This study contributes to the discourse on PI and FLP, shedding light on the evolving roles of parents and the complexity of their involvement during the unique circumstances of the pandemic.

The Construction of Chinese Language and Literature Resource Base in Colleges and Universities under the Construction of Cognitive Mapping

Abstract Keeping up with the development of the Internet era, it is imperative for colleges and universities to vigorously carry out the construction of a Chinese language and literature resource base to promote the healthy development of Chinese language and literature education. This paper starts with the construction of Chinese language literature resource base related technology, analyzes the basic model of the cognitive map and the construction of the cognitive map of Chinese language literature. The graph database technology is used to transform the data structure of the resource base and load data from the Chinese literature resource base. Based on the cognitive map and graph database, jointly constructed the Chinese language literature resource base and introduced the fuzzy C-mean integration algorithm to integrate the data resources for better access to Chinese language literature resources. To verify the effectiveness of the Chinese language and literature resource base constructed in this paper, it was tested and analyzed through practice. The results show that the overall average response time of the resource library in this paper is 718.50ms, which is 214.78ms lower than that of the online learning data platform, and the resource library developed in this paper can realize the loss in data sharing to be controlled to be less than 0.5MB. Utilizing the resource library to experiment with teaching Chinese language and literature, the average score of the experimental class increased from 88.96 to 95.23, which is an improvement of 6.27 points. The construction of the Chinese language and literature resource base under the cognitive mapping architecture can effectively enhance the common sharing of Chinese language and literature educational resources and prompt teachers to have richer teaching resources.

Education Gamification and Student Motivation: A Case Study of Chinese Language Education

<div align="center"><div align="center">A new generation of pupils has grown up with a strong familiarity with technology in the context of Industry 4.0. This technological revolution has made learning a foreign language more critical. However, learning a foreign language can only be accessible with that crucial component- motivation. The purpose of this study was to find out how students' motivation to learn Mandarin was affected by gamification. A gamification application was designed with the Game Development Document (GDD) as a foundational guide, utilizing the Mechanics, Dynamics, and Aesthetics (MDA) architecture. Two schools participated in the experimental research project, with 56 and 58 students divided into control and experimental groups. A questionnaire gathered data, and SPSS was used to compute Cronbach's Alpha. The results showed that gamification increased students' enthusiasm to study Mandarin well. When employing gamification as a teaching strategy, students with different levels of Mandarin proficiency saw varied results. Therefore, gamification can tailor Mandarin language instruction to each student's needs and skill level.</div></div>

The Exploration and Utilization of Ancient Chinese Resources in the Context of International Chinese Language Education

Against the backdrop of globalization, international Chinese language education has gradually emerged as an important bridge for disseminating Chinese culture and deepening mutual understanding among nations. Among this trend, ancient Chinese language resources stand out like a bright pearl, with their unique value receiving attention. Utilizing both literature analysis and case studies, this research delves deeply into the significant role of ancient Chinese language resources in international Chinese language education, and explores effective methods for tapping into and utilizing these resources. The ancient Chinese language resources possess multiple values in international Chinese language education. To effectively tap into and utilize these resources, this study proposes a series of strategies. Firstly, it is necessary to strengthen resource integration, systematically integrating scattered ancient Chinese language resources to form a convenient resource library, facilitating easy access and use by educators and learners. Secondly, it is essential to promote innovative teaching methods, exploring teaching techniques suitable for international Chinese language education in light of the characteristics of ancient Chinese, thereby enhancing teaching effectiveness. Simultaneously, personalized textbooks should be developed based on learners' needs and characteristics, making ancient Chinese language resources more attuned to learners' practical requirements. Furthermore, it is crucial to enhance teacher training, improving teachers' understanding and teaching abilities of ancient Chinese language resources, providing a solid talent guarantee for international Chinese language education. Lastly, modern technological means, such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality, should be fully utilized to assist in the teaching of ancient Chinese language resources, providing learners with a more vivid and visual learning experience.

Chinese Language and Literature Education and Humanistic Literacy Enhancement in Colleges and Universities under the Background of Education Informatization

Abstract Based on the background of education informatics, this paper uses natural language processing technology to analyze the teaching effect in the Chinese language and literature. By analyzing the basic methods of processing natural language, the CBOW model is constructed using text vectorization. Combined with the LDA model for Chinese language literature text, a keyword is automatically extracted. GRU is chosen as the master control unit of the information feature loop. The CBOW model is optimized using the gradient descent optimization algorithm, which improves the analysis efficiency of education and teaching. Relevant strategies for improving humanistic quality are proposed by analyzing the humanistic quality of Chinese language and literature majors in colleges and universities using natural language processing technology. The results show that the CBOW model performs better in analyzing the textual features of Chinese language and literature, and its MR value is 0.8007±0.0028 compared with the traditional neural network models such as RNN, CNN, etc. Among the strategies for improving humanistic qualities under the education of Chinese language and literature, the effect of strengthening the dissemination of cultural knowledge is 0.8. This study promotes the education of Chinese language and literature in colleges and universities to a certain degree, which is It is conducive to improving students’ humanistic literacy.

An Analysis of the Implications of Tao Xingzhis Educational Thought on Junior High School Chinese Language Classrooms

In contemporary society, various aspects are rapidly progressing, leading to an increasing gap between traditional education and modern development, with their shortcomings becoming increasingly evident. In contrast, the progressive ideas of the great educator Tao Xingzhi, such as life is education, have gained new relevance in the current era. The New Curriculum Reform explicitly emphasizes a student-centered teaching philosophy, highlighting the active role of students in the teaching process. These two aspects converge to some extent. Therefore, this paper will analyze the existing shortcomings of traditional education, specifically focusing on junior high school classrooms. Guided by Tao Xingzhis thought, it seeks to actively explore the optimal integration of educational reform and Tao Xingzhis educational ideas to address the deficiencies of traditional education and enhance the effectiveness of Chinese language teaching.

THE APPLICATION OF IMITATION WRITING TEACHING METHOD FOR AN ONLINE CHINESE WRITING COURSE OF GRADE 5 STUDENTS IN SINGAPORE

This mixed-method study compared the Chinese writing skills of grade 5 students before and after using the imitation writing teaching method and investigated their attitude towards the use of the imitation writing teaching method in Singapore. The sample group consisted of 20 grade 5 students from Singapore. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected through a pre-test, post-test, questionnaire, and semi-structured interview over the course of eight sessions. The results from the pre-test and post-test indicated an improvement in the language writing skills of the sample group students, with post-test scores (x̅ = 15, SD = 0.73) surpassing pre-test scores (x̅ = 17.2, SD = 0.77). The data gathered from the participants suggested that all items on the survey received high ratings. The majority of students in the sample group demonstrated a positive attitude towards using the imitation writing teaching method in Chinese writing learning. This study suggests that the imitation writing teaching method offers an alternative and effective approach to Chinese writing instruction. Therefore, Chinese language educators worldwide, including those in China, can consider incorporating this method into their Chinese teaching methodologies.
