Model Construction of Chinese Language Teaching from the Perspective of Artificial Intelligence

With the evolution of the information age, artificial intelligence has become an important variable affecting future social development, and its educational value has been widely recognized. In 2018, the Ministry of Education's "Education Informatization 2.0 Action Plan" put forward higher requirements for teaching informatization. The integration of artificial intelligence and education is the only way to improve teaching quality and cultivate talents that adapt to the development of the times. The core of educational informatization is the intelligence of teaching, which makes teaching methods intelligent, educational communication intelligent, and teaching methods technological. In view of this, firstly, the basic characteristics of the teaching information model were analyzed; Secondly, the application of the Chinese language information model was analyzed; Once again, the implementation of the Chinese language information model was analyzed to explore the opportunities and challenges faced by improving the application of artificial intelligence; Finally, from the perspectives of schools and teachers, strategies and suggestions are proposed to improve Chinese language education and teaching from the perspective of artificial intelligence.

The Influence and Application of ChatGPT in the Teaching Reflection of International Chinese Teachers

The appearance and use of Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (ChatGPT) has a great impact on the field of international Chinese education. The research on the combination of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language has attracted extensive attention from scholars, but there are relatively few studies on the combination of AI and teaching reflection of international Chinese teachers. This paper is to analyze the influence and application of ChatGPT in the teaching reflection of international Chinese teachers. It is concluded that ChatGPT plays a certain role in the reflection which is about teachers, students, and teaching media and environment. Based on this conclusion, the paper proposes the following suggestions: Through ChatGPT, these teachers could ensure that their attention continues to focus on information related to students' knowledge growth, and they can also provide individualized language practice and learning resources for students according to their language background. But at the same time, teachers need to pay attention to the maintenance of professional level and the improvement of human-AI interactive negotiation competence (HAINC).

The Impact of Meritocracy on Higher Education: A Perspective from College Admissions Policies in Mainland China

This study examines the impact of meritocracy on higher education in mainland China, focusing on university admission policies. Since the reform and opening-up period, Chinas economic and educational advancements have increasingly emphasized elitism, particularly in allocating university admission slots through mechanisms like the Gaokao. The analysis, conducted from historical and contemporary perspectives, reveals that while elitism has optimized the distribution of educational resources, it has also deepened social inequalities. Despite their intent to promote fairness, policies such as the provincial quota system and independent admissions have widened regional and urban-rural disparities in educational resources. Furthermore, government initiatives like targeted poverty alleviation and regional preferential policies have had limited success in addressing these disparities. The study concludes that while elitism has centralized high-quality educational resources, it has hindered upward social mobility, especially for students from rural and disadvantaged backgrounds, highlighting the need for comprehensive reforms to achieve educational equity and social justice.

Evaluating the Quality of Training Programs for Pre-Service Music Teachers in Chinese Higher Education Institutions

This research utilized an explanatory sequential design within a mixed-methods framework to assess the effectiveness of three pre-service music teacher programs aimed at Grades 1-12 in China. First, a group of four evaluators was asked to holistically assess the overall quality of these programs on a scale ranging from 1 to 10. Second, the evaluators were invited answer four open-ended questions about the areas for improvement in terms of program goals and objectives, program curricula, instructional methods, and learning assessments, respectively. The generalizability (G-) theory framework was employed to analyze the quantitative data, particularly to examine the variability in ratings and the reliability of the program evaluations. The qualitative data underwent coding, categorization, and organization according to recurring themes. The results indicated that the rating of the quality of these programs by the four program evaluators was extremely consistent and unbelievably reliable. Furthermore, major areas for improvement are identified in program objectives and curricula as well as instructional methods and learning assessments. Implications for pre-service music teacher training program developers in Chinese colleges and universities are discussed.

AVAILABILITY OF CHINESE LANGUAGE AS AN ACADEMIC DISCIPLINE IN UKRAINE

This article explores the increasing interest among Ukrainian citizens, particularly students, in learning the Chinese language. This trend is influenced by several key factors: China’s significant achievements on the global stage, its open-door policy, the expansion of Confucius Institutes, and the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the People’s Republic of China (PRC). The article discusses various dimensions of collaboration in higher education, including the development of academic exchange programs and joint educational initiatives aimed at enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation.The study highlights the critical importance of establishing favorable conditions for teaching Chinese in Ukrainian universities. It identifies several challenges that educational institutions face, such as a shortage of qualified Chinese language instructors, inadequate teaching resources, and limited opportunities for student engagement with native speakers. Additionally, the article emphasizes the need for improved infrastructure and institutional support to facilitate effective language instruction.The findings suggest that while there is a growing demand for Chinese language education in Ukraine, many higher education institutions currently lack the necessary organizational and economic resources to meet this demand. The article calls for further research to investigate the barriers to implementing Chinese language programs and to explore potential solutions, including increased international collaboration and support from Chinese organizations.

Current status, challenges, and future directions of laparoscopic training in young surgeons: a nationwide survey in China

BackgroundWith the rapid advancement of technology, minimally invasive surgery, particularly laparoscopic surgery, has made significant progress in the field of surgery. Despite the advantages of laparoscopic surgery, a systematic training system for laparoscopic procedures is lacking in Chinese postgraduate medical education. Our study aims to explore the prevalence of laparoscopic training among resident and attending physicians in China and to assess the current state of training programs.MethodsA 10-item questionnaire was distributed to 1,750 resident and attending physicians specializing in surgery across China, with 1,324 valid responses (75.7% response rate). The survey focused on demographics, training curriculum content, and feedback on training effectiveness. Data analysis was conducted using Microsoft Excel and IBM SPSS.ResultsAmong the 1,324 respondents, 30.7% reported receiving laparoscopic training, primarily at the attending physician stage. Only 4% of resident physicians and 14% of attending physicians could independently perform complex laparoscopic surgeries. Most respondents (76.6%) could only assist in surgeries. The majority expressed a desire for more frequent and longer training sessions, with suture training being identified as the most beneficial.ConclusionsThis study underscores the critical need for comprehensive laparoscopic training in China. Early, frequent, and structured training programs are essential for developing proficient laparoscopic surgeons. Future initiatives should focus on expanding access to training at all levels of medical education, ensuring continuous skill development and improved surgical care quality.

Analysis of Effective Use of Interactive Video in International Chinese Education

With the passage of time, many colleges and universities around the world have set up online classes and integrated the course teaching assistance system into them. With the innovation of science and technology, the use of interactive video in offline teaching is becoming more and more common. By integrating it into the offline learning education system, students’ enthusiasm in class can be significantly improved, and it can also be widely used in international Chinese classes. Therefore, this paper takes international Chinese education as an example. By studying the overall situation of international Chinese classrooms, teachers discuss the operation mode of interactive video in offline teaching, and put forward relevant suggestions, hoping to help international Chinese classroom teachers improve teaching quality and consolidate students’ academic performance. By introducing new teaching concepts, teachers’ teaching methods can be greatly improved, and at the same time, students’ active participation can be promoted, making it easy and practical to conduct a robust assessment of students’ learning progress.

Research on English Listening Teaching Based on Production-oriented Approach

This paper aims to explore the application effect and teaching design of Production-oriented Approach (POA) in listening teaching of English major. The approach was proposed by Chinese education scholar Professor Wen Qiufang, emphasizing the integration of learning and application, guiding students to actively engage in language learning through tasks, and promoting the combination of input and output. This paper first outlines the basic concept and teaching process of Production-oriented Approach, including three stages: "driving", "facilitating", and "evaluating". Next, this paper describes the current situation and challenges of English listening teaching and takes specific teaching practices as examples to elaborate on the design of English major listening teaching based on POA.

Teaching Model of International Chinese Education from the Perspective of Cross-Cultural Communication

The essence of international Chinese education is the teaching, promotion and dissemination of Chinese language and culture, while the differences between Chinese and foreign cultures will create certain obstacles to this dissemination process. In order to cope with the challenges brought by cultural differences and make full use of their positive factors, this paper proposes the application strategy of diversified teaching models, including: first, the interpretation teaching model, which helps students establish a deep understanding of Chinese culture by deeply analyzing the cultural connotations behind Chinese language phenomena; second, the cultural collision teaching model, which encourages students to stimulate critical thinking and innovation in the process of comparing the differences between Chinese and foreign cultures; third, the research-based teaching model, which guides students to participate in cultural research and cultivate their independent learning ability and research literacy; fourth, the exemplary teaching model, which allows students to experience and learn the unique charm of Chinese language and culture in practice by showing representative cultural cases.

Ecolinguistic Thinking on the Application of Information Technology in International Chinese Education

The existing education system cannot meet the Chinese learning needs of social groups well. There are certain problems in ecological, balanced and benign development. Since the new century, information technology has developed rapidly, and Internet technology has been widely used in cross-cultural education. Starting from the current development status of international Chinese education in the new era, this paper takes its healthy development as the guiding principle, explores the feasible ideas of promoting educational development through interdisciplinary studies from the perspective of ecolinguistics, proposes some development strategies for international Chinese education, strengthens the construction of international Chinese education response mechanism for emergencies, promotes the effective allocation of international Chinese education resources, and especially strengthens the in-depth application of modern information technology in all aspects and fields of international Chinese education.

Analysis of Innovative Strategies of Classical Chinese Education in Colleges and Universities from the Perspective of Cultural Confidence

Under the background of the steady advancement of social and economic development and the continuous improvement of international status, colleges and universities occupy an important position in the whole education system. At the same time, college students also bear the important responsibility to realize the dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. To this end, colleges and universities need to take effective measures to improve students’ comprehensive quality, which can enhance students’ cultural self-confidence and stimulate their cultural consciousness through the development of classical Chinese education. Therefore, teachers can innovate the education ideas, methods and models of classical Chinese studies from the perspective of cultural self-confidence. This paper studies classical Chinese studies education, which plays a vital role in cultivating students’ cultural self-confidence and the construction of school quality education. Therefore, this paper briefly analyzes the practical significance of carrying out classical Chinese studies education in colleges and universities and then analyzes the existing problems in the current classical Chinese studies education, and finally puts forward specific innovative strategies based on the perspective of cultural self-confidence.

The complexity of the student counselor system in China’s higher education: A case study on restrictions and possible flexibility in ideological education

Student counselors in Chinese higher education serve as conduits for providing political guidance and indoctrinating students with socialist values. Their primary role is to administer citizenship education as a means of political socialization, encompassing both ideological and organizational aspects. This article examines this phenomenon within the context of a specific university’s historical trajectory, drawing upon qualitative data to present a nuanced understanding of its complexities. Through this case study, the article sheds light on various approaches to citizenship education and offers valuable insights into the landscape of Chinese higher education amidst globalization. It reveals the coexistence of constraints and flexibility in ideological education within this context, shaped by the intricate interactions between student counselors and students. These dynamics are driven by the imperative of stability maintenance mandated by both the state and the university. The pragmatic approaches adopted by student counselors in their daily work serve as means to facilitate its implementation.

The study aims to explore the impact of examination-oriented education on Chinese English learners and the importance of cultural intelligence in second language acquisition. Through a questionnaire administered to postgraduate students majoring in English in China, the research discovered that the emphasis on test scores and strategies in China’s higher English education system has led to a neglect of cultural backgrounds and cross-cultural communication. The findings underscore the necessity for reforms in English teaching within Chinese higher education to cultivate students’ intercultural intelligence and enhance their readiness for international careers in the era of globalization.

A spirit of service in liberal arts education: the legacy from China’s former Christian universities and the influence of contrasting social contexts

AbstractLiberal arts education in Chinese higher education can be traced back to the liberal arts tradition that existed in China’s former Christian universities prior to the 1950s. The mission and goal of liberal arts education in Chinese contexts focuses on cultivating whole persons to serve their societies. Using data from documents and interviews, the study examines the liberal arts tradition for developing whole persons with a spirit of service in China’s former Christian universities. It also explores to what extent the legacy has been carried on to the development of liberal arts education in contemporary universities in Chinese societies (Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan). The study provides insight into how some elements of whole person development from faith-based education could contribute to today’s higher education reform in terms of the goals of global citizen cultivation.

The Contribution of Cultural Factors to Mobile Learning Acceptance in Chinese Higher Education

Mobile learning has become a need of the modern education system because of its advantages. However, its utilization could be better in Chinese higher education. In Chinese culture, college students’ willingness to adopt mobile learning may be essential. This study investigates the effects of two cultural factors on mobile learning acceptance among Chinese college students. It applies the technology acceptance model and Hofstede's theory of cultural dimensions. This research pilot study recruited 90 student samples from 3 private colleges in Chongqing City, responding to an online questionnaire. Data analysis used the SPSS 24 version to conduct correlation and regression analyses. The results indicated that cultural trust could predict students’ intentions of using mobile learning, as perceived usefulness and ease of use do. Meanwhile, students’ individual growing backgrounds significantly moderated the effect of other variables in this model to influence students’ intentions of mobile learning. The study also discussed the significance, the limitations, and the research directions in the future.

Relationship of professional identity and efficacy of Chinese public university lecturers under the appointment system in sustainable human resource management

For Chinese university lecturers, implementing sustainable human resource management (SHRM) is particularly critical. China's higher education is going through an essential stage of appointment system reform aiming to overturn the traditional civil service status of university lecturers and introduce a more flexible work and talent management mechanism to universities to international teaching standards; lecturers also raise concerns about their professional role, educational mission, balance of rights and interests, and the reshaping of the evaluation system. Based on the resource-based perspective and psychological contract theory, this study aimed to explore the relationship between sustainable human resource management (SHRM) and lecturers' professional identity in the context of China's appointment system, focusing on analyzing the moderating role of lecturers' self-efficacy. This study used a quantitative research approach to collect survey data from 610 lecturers at public colleges and universities in China. The data were analyzed with a structural equation model to test the hypothesized relationships. SHRM was directly and positively related to lecturers' self-efficacy and sense of professional identity and indirectly improved sense of professional identity by enhancing self-efficacy. The findings are consistent with existing literature, emphasize the importance of SHRM in promoting lecturers' career development, and provide empirical support for applying SHRM in the context of Chinese higher education. The study provides recommendations in three dimensions: Government, University, and Faculty. It provides guidance for strategic reform of human resource management in higher education, faculty career development, and improving education quality.

An Experimental Study of Flipped Classroom to Enhance Students' Basketball Teaching Design Ability

This study takes the teaching innovation of compulsory basketball courses as the research object in the context of teaching innovation of information technology in physical education disciplines in Chinese higher education. It adopts the method of using literature, action research and mathematical statistics. An experimental study was conducted on the application of the offline combined with online group flipped classroom teaching model in the basketball major compulsory course to explore the impact of the model on improving students' basketball instructional design ability. The experiment shows that the post-test t-test result of instructional design ability is -32.217 with a p-value of 0.000, and the experimental group is significantly better than the control group in terms of instructional design ability. It is concluded that the application of offline combined with online group flipped classroom teaching model can very significantly improve students' basketball instructional design ability. The aim is to construct a scientific and feasible teaching practice model for the teaching innovation of physical education courses, and to promote the educational quality change and teaching innovation of physical education professional courses.
