Community Assistance in Understanding the Marriage Age Limit Law

Changes in the minimum age for marriage regulated in Law Number 16 of 2019 have significantly impacted the number of applications for marriage dispensation in North Sulawesi. This service aims to carry out educational activities so that the public understands Law Number 16 of 2019 concerning Marriage Limits. Metode pengabdian ini menggunakan Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) atau pendekatan partisipatif, meliputi pelatihan, pendampingan, dan kolaborasi dengan pemangku kepentingan terkait. Implementasinya dimulai dari koordinasi, sosialisasi kegiatan, tahap pelaksanaan kegiatan, keberlanjutan program, penyusunan laporan, hingga monitoring dan evaluasi. The result of this service is that the socialization runs smoothly with a team that expands the target of this socialization to include teenagers, namely students and parents of teenage children. The efforts made by the service team are to provide an understanding of the impacts of underage marriage. This is very important to do considering the condition of society, where child marriages are increasing day by day.

Peran Orang Tua dalam Mencegah Kenakalan Remaja di Huta I Bandar Malela

The role of parents is a form of obligation and duty that should be carried out by every parent, and where taking each of these roles has an influence on the level of independence of adolescent children for the next life. And the role of parents is not only seen as the foundation of teachers, but can also act as mentors and models for each of their children. In the process carried out by each parent, various problems often arise. Be it in terms of the child's social environment, parents' mistakes in pampering their children, and there are even some parents who have succeeded in forming children's independence so that they become good teenagers in the future. However, it is known that teenagers who commit crimes or delinquencies are generally due to a lack of self-control and actually abuse their way of controlling themselves, and even like to make their own rules without paying attention to the existence of other people around them. And in the Huta I area of Bandar Malela, researchers see and do very rarely, even a small incidence of juvenile delinquency in this village, because parents are smart in educating and supervising every child from childhood to adolescence. And this research aims to describe the role of parents in Huta I Bandar Malela in preventing juvenile delinquency. This research is also descriptive research using a qualitative approach. The subjects of this research were 6 parents who had teenage children aged 14 to 21 years, who lived in Huta I Bandar Malela, Gunung Maligas District, Simalungun Regency. The object of this research includes the role of parents in preventing juvenile delinquency. Data collection was carried out using observation, interview and documentation techniques. The results of this research show that parents in Huta I Bandar Malela have been able to carry out their roles as educators, encouragers, supervisors, communicators and friends of their children so as to avoid juvenile delinquency

Saragurokunaka Wiñaypak Runakunami Kashunchik (We Will Always Be Saraguro): Reclaiming the Kichwa Language and Saraguro Identity in the Diaspora

ABSTRACT Drawing from Critical Latinx Indigeneities, this study explored how Kichwa Saraguro families are (re)creating their Indigeneity and reclaiming their Kichwa language in rural areas of Wisconsin. Using a subset of data gathered through ethnographic work, we report on interviews with 10 members of the Saraguro community as they described the practices they enact to teach and learn what it means to be Saraguro. Our findings revealed that in response to experiences marked by ethnoracial minoritization, Saraguro youth and families have developed home- and community-based pedagogies to continue reclaiming their Kichwa language, culture, and epistemology. These practices included the intergenerational communal teaching of Saraguro culture, Kichwa language-learning initiatives, and Saraguro-led events designed to educate broader communities. Saraguro parents and teenage children pointed to the myriad of practical and emotional benefits they received from local and transnational Saraguro networks. Recommendations for critical educational research on transnational Indigenous Latine/x communities are discussed here.

A Theoretical Review: Globalization and Preventing Premarital Sex

Background: Globalization is a double-edged sword since it improves human efficiency and effectiveness along with the development of technology. However, the negative impacts of globalization hit developing countries hard, such as the fading of traditional culture and people's tendency to be dependent on developed countries, or people imitate the negative behavior of those living in developed countries. Aims: This paper conceptualizes premarital sex behavior, which is a problem in the social environment that occurs in Indonesian society and generally in Islamic countries. The author will reveal sexual problems experienced by adolescents in terms of social phenomena in modern times. In addition, the impact of adolescent sexual behavior before marriage will also be discussed in this article, both in social, cultural, and religious settings. The author also offers alternative solutions to prevent premarital sex behavior in adolescents by looking at the role of the family, social environment, and educational institutions. Method: We use the Theory of Planned Behavior and Social Learning Theory approaches to explore the direction of adolescent behavior in making decisions. Results: As a result, our model can contribute to future research to research adolescent premarital sex behavior, especially in countries affected by globalization. In addition, we also offer a research model by formulating several propositions that will be a guide for further research. Conclusion: Globalization is very influential and we feel it in everyday life. Conditions such as promiscuity, negative internet, premarital sex, etc. can be found in social life. This condition cannot be avoided, which is something that should happen and needs to be addressed wisely by the whole community, especially parents who have teenage children. Several alternatives are offered to overcome this problem, among others, through educational institutions, the role of the family, and the social environment. These three factors are an alternative to preventing adolescent associations that lead to premarital sex.

In their own voices: immigrant mothers’ experiences and perceptions of the group-based self-assured parents programme for parents in disadvantaged areas in Sweden

ABSTRACT Culturally responsive parenting interventions are crucial for immigrant parents in disadvantaged areas. This qualitative study delves into the experiences of 18 immigrant mothers (Mage = 41.2 years) from Somalia, Syria, Turkey, Eritrea, and Iraq participating in the Swedish Self-Assured Parents programme, targeting immigrant parents who live in social disadvantage with teenage children. Thematic analysis revealed seven main themes (1) the meaning of the programme content and structure, (2) enjoying oneself and being comfortable, (3) putting the adolescent in the centre, (4) mothers’ own socioemotional development, (5) changing from being a passive reactor to an active agent, (6) empowered citizenship, and (7) having always been a strong and good mother. Overall, the mothers were positive about both the content and the format of the programme, appreciating the warm and supportive climate. They also perceived themselves as being more attentive to adolescent needs, having improved their own socio-emotional skills, and being empowered both as a citizen and as a mother on account of attending the programme. With the development of culturally responsive programmes that take into account the unique needs and experiences of diverse populations, governments can effectively support parents, promote child positive development, and help cultivate social cohesion among the members of society.

PERAN ORANG TUA DALAM MEMBIMBING KARAKTER ANAK REMAJA USIA 12-15 TAHUN DI GEREJA BETHEL INDONESIA TABGHA TANJUNG PIAYU BATAM

Parents do not yet have an understanding of the role of parents in guiding the character of teenagers aged 12-15 years. The character of teenagers at GBI Tabgha Tanjung Piayu Batam has challenges because there are still those involved in racing, the temptation to smoke, drink alcohol, the social interactions of school children who often tempt them not to take part in church activities, like to go against their parents, have a bad temper and are stubborn. . Parents lack communication with teenage children at GBI Tabgha Tanjung Piayu Batam so that there is a breakdown in the relationship between parents and children and the children's character is not formed from a positive environment. The character of teenagers at GBI Tabgha Tanjung Piayu Batam has challenges because some are still involved in racing, tempted to smoke, drink alcohol. This research aims to find out the extent of the benefits of the role of parents in guiding the character of teenagers aged 12-15 years at Bethel Indonesia Tabgha Church Tanjung Piayu Batam. The role of parents is realized through regular and personal guidance regarding positive and negative things that should be avoided or done. Parents play a role in forming the spiritual maturity of their teenagers based on God's Word so that in the future teenagers will become individuals who are strong and sturdy in their faith and fear of God. This research uses qualitative methods and the informants in this research are five parents whose data can be collected from interviews. The results of the research found that church worship is very useful and proven to develop the character of teenagers. Parents often do not provide space for teenagers to talk about their feelings, problems or worries. A lack of open communication can make children feel unheard or unappreciated. Guiding the character of teenagers, especially parents, is very important in forming a family environment that is harmonious, full of love and understanding for children

The Tragic Life of Kong Yiji from the Perspective of a Little Fellow at the Salty Hotel

Kong Yiji, an article included in secondary school textbooks, is one of the representative works of China's modern literary giant Mr Lu Xun, and one of the classic short stories in the history of modern Chinese literature in the 20th century. Mr Lu Xun's unique perspective is from the point of view of a teenage child -- hotel mate, with a twelve-year-old "little fellow" who has not yet experienced the world of youth as a narrative perspective, using a child to describe the facts to ensure that the "Kong Yiji" image of justice, objectivity and truthfulness. Developing the concept of maternal in teenage mothers: a hybrid model.

Maternal transition is a challenging developmental process requiring physical, mental, social, and cognitive preparedness. Therefore, the transition to motherhood is even more challenging for teenagers who are exposed to both the maturation process and adaptation to the parenting role. Therefore, the present study was conducted to provide a deeper understanding of the maternal role in Iranian teenage mothers. A three-phase hybrid model was adopted for concept analysis. In the theoretical phase, 50 articles were analyzed. In the fieldwork phase, 10 participants were interviewed. In the final phase, the findings of the previous two stages were analyzed. This study was conducted between October 2021 and November 2022. After determining the attributes, antecedents, and consequences, a final definition was presented for parenting in teenage mothers. The concept of motherhood for teenage mothers was described as "a process-oriented phenomenon in nature," "complex, challenging and multidimensional," "development with immature transition," "a turning point in life," "a stressful event," "affected by several factors," and "bidirectional effects on life" according to antecedents, including "the level of received social support," "reaction to teenage motherhood," "teenage mother's characteristics," and "family structure" leading to "positive psychological consequences," "negative psychological consequences," and "loss of educational and career opportunities." This study provides a suitable ground for evaluating the concept of motherhood in teenage mothers and employing it in nursing care of teenage mothers and children by identifying this concept.

Today humanity is going through a period of great upheavals and rapid changes in every sphere of life, including the environment, that inevitably lead to general destabilisation and disruptions. In the latest novel by Rumaan Alam, apocalyptic Leave the World Behind (2020), a crisis appears to reshape our closest bonds and forge new ones. This story of an invisible terror deals with cataclysmic but mysterious events that shut down the communication networks we over-rely on, and sees an almost overwhelming sense of uncertainty, panic and increasing anxiety. Isolated in the remote holiday house with the Vermont stone kitchen tops and night-lit swimming pool, a couple of New Yorkers and their teenage children are looking forward to taking a rest from the routines of city life when catastrophe strikes. In addition to the major theme of the threat of human extinction, Leave the World Behind explores the relationship between class and race and the complexities of parenthood and solitude during an unspecified disaster. Those issues are included in the context of the global problem of anthropogenic impacts on the environment. At the same time, Alam demonstrates how habituation to the ongoing crises in the modern world, including social-ecological transformations, affects the understanding of a severe situation people are facing and ways to prevent it: they have increasing tolerance for the absurd. The suspenseful, provocative and prescient book, Leave the World Behind, captures the generalised panic of 2020, the year of a global outbreak of coronavirus. As a kind of end-of-the-world fiction, the novel is full of moments of exquisite recognition and reappraising of our attitudes the article discusses.

Human Rights Implications Of Minimum Age For Criminal Liability Laws In Sexual Offenses: A Case Study Of India

The abuse of children sexually is a terrible worldwide problem that leaves victims with lifelong scars. In order to ensure justice and deter similar acts, legislative frameworks are essential. Balancing this objective with the evolving rights and autonomy of teenagers poses a significant challenge. With an emphasis on India's Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, this study examines the human rights consequences of minimum age requirements for criminal liability laws pertaining to sexual offences. POCSO establishes 18 as the minimum age of consent for all sexual activities, which has raised concerns about the possible infringement of teenage rights, such as the freedom from unjustified arrest and imprisonment, privacy, bodily autonomy, and access to knowledge about sexual and reproductive health. The conflict between teenage rights and child protection is examined in the paper. This study examines how teenagers' ability to give consent is developing, as well as how criminalising any sexual behaviour under the age of 18 may violate their right to autonomy. International comparisons show how different countries handle this complicated topic and how their minimum age regulations vary. A human rights-based strategy for POCSO reform is put out in this study. In order to distinguish between consensual sexual behaviour between adolescents of similar ages and exploitative abuse, this study involves investigating the possibility of a tiered age of consent system. Furthermore, it is suggested to prioritise preventive interventions through detailed sexual education programmes for setting explicit rules for assessing capacity to consent. The necessity of open communication, stakeholder participation, and ongoing legislative revision is emphasised in the conclusion of the paper. India may develop a more effective framework for preventing child sexual abuse while defending the rights and welfare of all young people by giving human rights a higher priority.

The Scourge of Job Deceit: Teenager’s Prostitution and Baby Factories in Nigeria

Could ignorance on the part of parents and economic hardship be the reasons they fall prey to job deceit, which might have led to teenager prostitution and baby factories, or could the parents be aware of the practice and just want to use their child as a survival wage? It was against these backdrops that this study examined ‘the Scourge of Job Deceit: Teenagers' Prostitution and Baby Factories in Nigeria’. The research design is explorative in nature. The sample size for the study was 35 residents in cities and towns who identified as having experienced this act. A questionnaire was developed, titled Job Deceit: Teenagers' Prostitution and Baby Factories in Nigeria, which has a reliability coefficient of 0.75. In scoring the instrument, the study adopted the measure of central tendency (the mean score). The highest possible mean average was 4.00, while the least was 1.00; the mid-point mean was 2.50 (since it was a four-point scale). Content analysis was used for the newspaper review. Findings from the study revealed that people complain that most jobs' posters or banners with phone numbers promising huge pay are deceitful. On this note, the study concluded that teenagers are lured into prostitution and babymaking in baby factories on the premise of employment and financial liberation from poverty for their struggling families. A recommendation was made that parents should desist from the act of giving their teenage children to people who promise to help get them jobs in the city without prior notice.

The case of crimes against humans seems to never run out of time. More and more cases of crime continue to increase. The research used qualitative methods with the approach of framing analysis model Zhoungdang Pan Gerald M. Kosicki to find out how the framing carried out by the online media of The Harianjogja.com Newspaper in delivering news related to klithih action in Yogyakarta. The results of this study showed that the media Harianjogja.com in its reporting showed that the tendency of news to lead to the truth of klithih. Regardless of tarnishing the name of the city of Yogyakarta as a city of culture and education. Emphasis related to criminal acts that exist in the perpetrators of kithih actions becomes the source or basis of news carried out by Harianjogja.com.

CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS (CDA) BY SARA MILLS ON THE NEWS ABOUT A MAN IN WONOGIRI RAPING TWO OF HIS STEPDAUGHTERS ONE OF WHOM GAVE BIRTH TO HIS CHILD

This research discusses two girls who were raped by their stepfather until one of the victims gave birth in online media reports. Various reports regarding sexual harassment often experienced by women represent a person in a discourse. This research uses the Sara Mills model of critical discourse analysis theory which focuses on women's issues such as how women are presented in texts, images, photos and in the news. This research aims to describe the discourse analysis of the case of two children who were raped by their stepfather in online news from Sara Mills' perspective (Bkompas.com media reporting study). The method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection techniques namely reading techniques and note-taking techniques. In this research, it was found that in the subject position in the two news stories about the case of two children being raped by their stepfather was a father who had the heart to rape his two children until one of them gave birth, then in the object position were both teenage children. one is 14 years old and his older brother is 17 years old. Then, in the writer's position, namely the Kompas.com news journalist who describes the story very clearly but briefly and concisely. Describes the flow of events and the background of the perpetrator and victim and gives voice to the heart of a woman who has been harassed. The Self-Concept of Adolescent Girls Regarding Physical Changes During Puberty

Introduction: Self-conception is a mental health problem often experienced by teenage girls who will or have experienced menstruation, especially during early puberty. This situation requires special attention. According to a preliminary survey conducted by the researchers of the State Primary School 1 Turi District of Lamongan, 80% of teenagers have experienced physical changes. The aim of this study was to determine the description of a teenage girl's self-concept about physical changes during puberty.Methods: descriptive research design. The research population was part of the seventh grade teenage children in the State 1 Turi High School, Turi district, Lamongan district, with a sample size of 40 teenage girls. Sampling is done using quota sampling. Data collection method with closed questionnaires. The data collected is analyzed descriptively.Results: 92.5% of adolescents have a negative self-image. 77.5% have negative ideas about themselves, and 90% of teenagers have bad self-esteem.Conclusion: Almost all of the teenage girls in the 7th grade in the 1st grade in Turi, Turi district, and Lamongan district have a negative self-concept. Counseling teachers and UKS (School Health Unit) should work together to provide communication, information, and education on physical changes in adolescents during puberty, especially women's gymnastics, so that they have a positive self-concept and adolescent girls' mental health is improved. Pelaksanaan Program Kerja KKN-Sains Tematik Desa Berbasis Sosialisasi Peran Keluarga Sebagai Salah Satu Pencegahan Bahaya Narkoba Di Desa Mojodowo

Implementation of KKN-Science is one of the community services aimed at solving a problem in the region. In the implementation of this KKN-Science the main focus is to know the role of families towards the dangers of narcotic abuse and the prevention of narcotic dangers in Mojodowo Village. The KKN-Science activities of Mayjen Sungkono Mojokerto University conducted by students and DPL were held on 09-16 December 2023 at Mojodowo Village office, Kembagi, Mojokerto. The benefits of this service activity are aimed at adding insight and education to the public in the prevention of the dangers of narcotics and the relationship of criminal offenses to narcotic abuse. This study uses destriptive research methods with quantitative approach as well as data collection sourced from primary data using socialization and documentation. The study was conducted on parents with teenage children in the vicinity of Mojodowo Village. The results of the study and discussion show that the role of the family is very important in providing broad information, knowledge and understanding of the dangers of drugs and their negative impact on all aspects of life. Obstacles in the prevention of drug harm in the family are differences in the personality of the child, the child's lack of openness to parents, and exposure to a negative social environment. The study's recommendation is that each family supervise and guide adolescents to avoid falling into narcotics.

Education for Kenyan Girls in the Post Covid-19 ERA: Mitigating Strategies for Future Pandemics

The study examined the effects of school closure during the COVID-19 pandemic on the education of secondary school girls in Moiben Sub-County, Uasin Gishu County, Kenya. It used a mixed-method research design that targeted classroom teachers and Form III and IV students from mixed-day public secondary schools. A sample size representing 251 students was selected, while 66 teachers were purposively selected as respondents for the study. The data for the paper was collected using questionnaires. Data analysis was done using descriptive statistics and presented in tables and figures. The study found that 10 – 14% of students dropped out of school due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Of those who dropped out, the girls accounted for more than 60.0% of the ones who did not resume their education after the opening of schools in January 2021. The study found that teenage pregnancies, child labour, early marriages, and low household income contributed to girls’ not returning back to school. The paper recommends that the government set up appropriate interventions to ensure that future pandemics do not result in the discontinuity of education for students by investing in proper physical and human infrastructure. Parent’s awareness of, and influence on, their 14–17-year-old child’s vaping and smoking behaviours; an analysis of 3242 parent–child pairs in Australia

BackgroundVaping by young people in Australia is a rapidly emerging public health issue. Evidence shows that parental behaviours and attitudes can play a key role in influencing adolescent behaviours. Considering the health harms of vaping and evidence that it can be a gateway to tobacco smoking for never-smokers, it is important to understand whether parents’ smoking and vaping behaviours influence their teenage children’s smoking and vaping behaviours. MethodsOnline cross-sectional surveys as part of the Generation Vape study, conducted in Australia in 2021/2022, were used to assess parents' influence on, and awareness of, one of their 14–17-year-old child’s vaping and smoking behaviours. Participants were 3242 parents and 3242 14–17-year-old teenage children. ResultsThe risk of vaping and smoking uptake among 14–17-year-old teenagers was 42% (p = 0.003) and 97% (p < 0.001) higher, respectively, if their parent was an ever-vaper. The risk of vaping and smoking uptake among teenagers was 81% (p < 0.001) and 159% (p < 0.001) higher, respectively, if their parent was an ever-smoker. Parents of teenagers who have not vaped were considerably better at correctly predicting this (97% correct) than parents of teenagers who have vaped (70% correct). Compared to parents, teenagers tended to have less agreement with statements suggesting vaping is unsafe or harmful, and more agreement with statements suggesting vaping is relatively safe. ConclusionsParental smoking and vaping behaviours are associated with those of their children. Hence, it is important that both tobacco and vaping control policies and interventions are designed to influence behaviours of all demographics, consistent with the evidence.

THE EXPERIENCE OF PARENTAL CANCER FROM THE PARENTS' PERSPECTIVE: A QUALITATIVE STUDY

INTRODUCTION: Parental cancer is the experience of cancer at an early age in adulthood in people with dependent children, leading to changes in parent-child interaction, family dynamics, the performance of the parental role and socio-economic difficulties. OBJECTIVE: To analyze parents’ perspectives who are undergoing cancer treatment to understand the impact this has on their parental role. METHODOLOGY: Qualitative study. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews based on a structured script founded on the Betty Neuman Model. The sample consisted of cancer patients in the treatment phase, with different types of cancer, monitored in a Portuguese cancer hospital, with teenage children aged 14 to 19. Data analysis was carried out using content analysis according to Bardin. The ethical assumptions associated with the study were safeguarded. RESULTS: From the analysis of the 13 interviews carried out, the domain Experience of parental cancer emerged, with two categories “Everything changed in us: the cancer diagnosis” and “Life goes on: repercussions of parental cancer on parent-child interaction” and respective subcategories. CONCLUSION: This study demonstrated the implications of the diagnosis of cancer and the repercussions of parental cancer on parent-child interaction. The results will support the design of a nursing intervention program for the dyad experiencing parental cancer.

Parenting adolescents: Parent-Teen communication training

Puberty is often experienced by adolescents in relation to psychological changes, including letting go of dependence on parents to achieve greater independence. Adolescents begin to spend more time with their friends, and share less information with their parents. However, support and direction from parents are still needed by adolescents, considering that they will grow into adults with all the complexity of their problems. So parents need to understand the changes that adolescents are experiencing, and how to assist adolescents in dealing with these changes. "Parenting Adolescents: Parent-Teen Communication Training" is aimed to increase parents' understanding of the characteristics of adolescent development and how to communicate with adolescents. The training was conducted through three stages, preparation, implementation, and follow-up. There were 38 parents who have children aged 12-23 years attended training. The training was held face-to-face on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Madrasah Thosin Cikopo, Cipacing Village, Jatinangor District. "Parenting Adolescents: Parent-Teen Communication Training" was considered fun and useful by parents who have teenage children. The parents were satisfied with the material provided, which was in accordance with their needs.

The unequal spread of COVID-19 was accompanied by disparities in adherence to social distancing. Research is needed on social processes that facilitated widespread adherence to distancing, how they connected with existing resource access and belief systems, and how they potentially strengthened intergroup boundaries. We integrated insights from research on social norms and cultural capital to analyze early pandemic (April–August 2020) qualitative interviews with parents and their teenage children in two higher-resource communities in the United States. Our findings uncovered four interrelated processes that facilitated the rapid establishment of norms around distancing, concurrently strengthening group boundaries. Community members: 1) drew on existing cultural capital to smooth the establishment of new social norms, 2) associated social distancing with individual moral worth and community identity, 3) applied double standards that granted certain exceptions to ingroup members to maintain social cohesion, and 4) drew strong distinctions between their own and outsiders’ social distancing behaviors and moral worth. Our findings articulate social processes that allowed for rapid cohesion around distancing and show how these mechanisms strengthened existing community social boundaries.
