Discourse and its Types in Theoretical Linguistics Summary Discourse is defined as a system with real and virtual dimensions. Discourse is considered a set of events. It also reflects a certain social process and occurs within a certain time. Discourse can never cover the whole language. Both discourse and text are based on the rules of language. The discourse is realized in the text and through the text. The text can consist of several discourses. Discourse is a concept of speech patterns, a collection of genres and speech acts. The presented article talks about the emergence of discourse and its explanation in scientific theories. Different opinions of linguists about discourse are noted in the article and its main features are investigated, the relationship between discourse and text and the types of discourse are briefly explained separately.
