Calculation Method and Characteristic Analysis for Fault Current of Permanent Magnet Direct-Drive Wind Power System considering Positive and Negative Sequence Decomposition

In view of the fact that the influence of positive and negative sequence decomposition, which is widely used in positive and negative sequence decoupling control in control system, on the fault current calculation process is not deeply considered in the existing transient analysis methods of permanent magnet direct-drive wind farm short circuit current, this paper proposes a transient short circuit current calculation model that takes into account positive and negative sequence decomposition. The influence of the transient characteristics of positive and negative sequence decomposition on the control system is studied, and the mechanism of its action on the transient change of short circuit current is revealed. The positive and negative sequence decoupling processes of the circuit equation are modified, and the characteristics of the coupling equation are analyzed. The difference in the converter output voltage between the circuit equation and the control equation and the depth of its influence on the calculation process is revealed. On the basis of quantifying the difference at the converter output voltage, the circuit equation and the control equation are combined to form a short-circuit current calculation model with positive and negative sequence decomposition, which accurately characterizes the transient characteristics of fault current under different voltage drops and effectively improves the accuracy of the calculation results.

Repurposing calcium-sensing receptor activator drug cinacalcet for ADPKD treatment

ADPKD is characterized by progressive cyst formation and enlargement leading to kidney failure. Tolvaptan is currently the only FDA-approved treatment for ADPKD; however, it can cause serious adverse effects including hepatotoxicity. There remains an unmet clinical need for effective and safe treatments for ADPKD. The extracellular Ca2+-sensing receptor (CaSR) is a regulator of epithelial ion transport. FDA-approved CaSR activator cinacalcet can reduce cAMP-induced Cl− and fluid secretion in various epithelial cells by activating phosphodiesterases (PDE) that hydrolyze cAMP. Since elevated cAMP is a key mechanism of ADPKD progression by promoting cell proliferation, cyst formation and enlargement (via Cl− and fluid secretion), here we tested efficacy of cinacalcet in cell and animal models of ADPKD. Cinacalcet treatment reduced cAMP-induced Cl− secretion and CFTR activity in MDCK cells as suggested by ∼70 % lower short-circuit current (Isc) changes in response to forskolin and CFTRinh-172, respectively. Cinacalcet treatment inhibited forskolin-induced cAMP elevation by 60 % in MDCK cells, and its effect was completely reversed by IBMX (PDE inhibitor). In MDCK cells treated with forskolin, cinacalcet treatment concentration-dependently reduced cell proliferation, cyst formation and cyst enlargement by up to 50 % without affecting cell viability. Cinacalcet treatment (20 mg/kg/day for 7 days, subcutaneous) reduced renal cyst index in a mouse model of ADPKD (Pkd1flox/flox;Ksp-Cre) by 20 %. Lastly, cinacalcet treatment reduced cyst enlargement and cell proliferation in human ADPKD cells by 60 %. Considering its efficacy as shown here, and favorable safety profile including extensive post-approval data, cinacalcet can be repurposed as a novel ADPKD treatment.

56 Early Weaning Stress Relocates Epithelial Enteroendocrine Cells and Alters Intestinal Nutrient Sensing and Transport Functions in Pigs

Abstract Intestinal nutrient sensing and enteroendocrine functions are critical in controlling feed intake and nutrient transport, yet have been overlooked in agricultural animals. Enteroendocrine cells (EECs) residing on intestinal epithelium monitor luminal chemical environment and orchestrate body neuronal and hormonal responses. After nutrient stimulation, the EECs release hormones, such as glucagon-like peptide 2 (GLP2), which dynamically regulates intestinal nutrient transport and epithelial barrier homeostasis. In pigs, early weaning stress has negatively impacted intestinal development and functions. The objective of the present study is to evaluate effects of early weaning on intestinal nutrient sensing functions, EEC-derived GLP2 production, and epithelial nutrient transport in pigs. Commercial pig littermates (females, n = 9) were split-weaned at the age of d15 (early weaning, EW) and d 26 (late weaning, LW). Piglets were all raised under the same conditions and euthanized at 35 days of age. Intestinal tissues were collected and preserved for later immunohistochemistry staining and gene expression analyses. Immediately post euthanasia, the mucosal layers from jejunum and ileum were mounted on the Ussing chambers to investigate physiological functions. Nutrients transport activities were measured by short circuit current changes (ΔIsc) in response to luminal nutrients (glucose, alanine, lysine, and di-peptide) applications. Nutrient sensing function was measured by GLP2 release rate following glucose stimulation in Ussing chambers. Serum and intestinal tissue concentrations of GLP2 were also measured by ELISA. Data were analyzed by the student’s t-test. Our results showed altered electrogenic nutrients and ion transport activities between EW and LW pigs. The ileal basal Isc was significantly less in EW pigs, indicating a reduction in ions transport. The EW pigs significantly downregulated electrogenic lysine transport, while upregulated active transport of dipeptide. The EECs number in ileum was reduced in EW pigs, indicated by less ChgA (EEC cell marker) mRNA and significantly less ChgA positive-stained cells. In addition, EW pigs exhibited a pattern of EECs relocation, in which the ChgA-positive cells enriched towards the lower half of villi. Nutrient sensing activities of the EECs were suppressed in both jejunum and ileum in EW pigs, indicated by a significant reduction in the glucose-stimulated GLP2 release on Ussing chambers. Moreover, in contrast with the significantly greater GLP2 concentration in ileum, the serum GLP2 concentration was significantly less in the EW pigs, which reflected a decreased GLP2 release rate. In summary, our results suggested that early weaning stress altered EECs number and locations on epithelium, reduced EECs nutrient sensing activities and endogenous GLP2 release, and changed nutrient transport activities. Understanding the mechanism by which early weaning stress regulates intestinal nutrient sensing and transport functions will lead to novel feeding strategies that improve intestinal health and animal production.

Analysis of short-circuit electrodynamic vibration response of triangularly arranged iced transmission lines based on finite element method

The alternating reciprocating electrodynamic load with periodic variation of short-circuit current will be generated when the triangular arrangement of iced transmission lines is short-circuited, which may lead to the occurrence of adhesion accidents. In order to analyze the vibration law of triangularly arranged iced conductors under the action of short-circuit alternating electrodynamic force, this paper establishes a mathematical model of spatial magnetic field and electrodynamic load of triangularly arranged conductors according to the principle of field strength superposition. The transient solution domain of COMSOL finite element analysis software is used to establish the simulation model of transmission conductor. The variation law of alternating reciprocating load of transmission conductor under short-circuit state is clarified, and the mathematical model of adhesion judgment of triangularly arranged transmission conductor is established. The horizontal displacement and vertical displacement of transmission conductor under different conditions are solved. The results show that: 1) The electrodynamic force generated by short-circuit current changes periodically, and the amplitude will gradually decay. 2) The thicker the conductor icing is, the smaller the electrodynamic force is, and the smaller the displacement of the conductor is; 3) The horizontal displacement and vertical displacement amplitude of the triangular arrangement wire are similar, indicating that when the direction of the electric dynamic load is the same, considering the displacement of the two directions, it is found that the A and C two-phase wires first adhere.

Research on Distributed Photovoltaic Grid-connected Mode Based on PSASP

With the continuous implementation of the carbon peak and carbon neutrality, a large number of distributed solar power stations have been integrated into the grid, which has caused a strong impact on the safe and stable operation of the traditional power system. Based on this, the grid-connected mode of distributed solar power stations is studied, and three types of grid connection are proposed. Mode A is merged into the 66 kV bus side of the 220 kV substation through the 66 kV dedicated line; Mode B is merged into the 66 kV bus side of the 66 kV substation through the 66 kV dedicated line; Mode C is T-connected to the 66 kV transmission line through 66 kV dedicated line. By using a power system analysis software package (PSASP), we can build a model of a certain regional power grid and study the effects of the above three grid-connected modes on system voltage stability, short-circuit current, and network loss. The study shows that the three modes are all feasible. Mode A has the smallest change in voltage quality and short-circuit current of the grid-connected substation and has the smallest network loss of the three modes.

CONTROL OF THE ELECTROPHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF TWO-BARRIER SILICON STRUCTURES WITH A NANOSTRUCTURED BASE USING GAMMA RADIATION

During this experimental study, samples of double-barrier structures were irradiated with various doses from a 60Co source. The current-voltage characteristics of two-barrier structures from a silicon-based nanostructured base and the change in their spectral photocurrent before and after gamma irradiation were recorded and studied. Experimental results show that voltage values such as open-circuit voltage (VOC) as well as short-circuit current (ISC) and efficiency (η) change with the magnitude of the collection-dissipation voltage.

Comparative small-signal stability analysis of voltage-controlled and enhanced current-controlled virtual synchronous generators under weak and stiff grid conditions

Currently, the academic and industrial community have considerable expectations for the modern power converter control strategy – a grid-forming control. Within this strategy, the most promising and effective is considered one based on the voltage-controlled virtual synchronous generator (VC-VSG). However, such control system is characterized by challenges in ensuring small-signal stability under continuously changing conditions of the grid strength. The major cause is associated with the emergence of the power coupling problem. Therefore, this paper proposes an enhanced control structure based on a current-controlled virtual synchronous generator (CC-VSG). Additionally, in this paper theoretical analysis, analysis of small-signal models in Matlab and experimental studies of detailed nonlinear models via PSCAD™/EMTDC™ for the conventional structure of VC-VSG and the proposed CC-VSG were performed. As a result, it has been proved that in the enhanced CC-VSG model the power coupling problem is practically excluded due to which small-signal stability is ensured in a wide range of short-circuit current ratio changes from 1 to 100. At the same time, a fast dynamic performance and a high damping level that provide an appropriate inertial response have been achieved. It is also proved that the improvement of damping by tuning the virtual damper winding allows to reduce the rise time and has a favorable impact on the inertial response of the CC-VSG model over the entire considered range of grid strength variation, which cannot be obtained for the conventional VC-VSG.

Effects of fault type and pre-fault load flow on optimal coordination of directional overcurrent protections

• This paper is on optimal coordination of directional overcurrent protections (OC-DOCP). • Effects of fault type and pre-fault load flow on OC-DOCP are analyzed. • Changes in optimal settings can be considerably greater than changes in short-circuit currents. • Changes in objective functions can be considerably lower than changes in short-circuit currents. This short article shows an analysis of the effects of fault type and pre-fault load flow on the optimal coordination of directional overcurrent protections. A well-known case from the literature is taken as an example, because this case has been previously solved considering only three-phase faults and only one pre-fault load flow. The fault type and the pre-fault load flow have an influence on the results of short-circuit currents and, consequently, on the results of the optimal coordination of directional overcurrent protections. It is shown herein that the effects of pre-fault load flow and single-line-to-ground faults can be important on the results of optimal coordination. For the analyzed cases, the percentage changes in the optimal results of time delay settings can be considerably greater than the percentage changes in short-circuit currents. On the other hand, the percentage changes in optimal results of objective functions can be considerably lower than the percentage changes in short-circuit currents for the analyzed cases.

Anion Transport Across Human Gallbladder Organoids and Monolayers.

Fluid and anion secretion are important functions of the biliary tract. It has been established that cAMP regulates Na+ absorption through NHE3. However, mechanisms of gallbladder anion transport are less defined. We created organoids and organoid-derived monolayers from human gallbladder tissue to measure organoid swelling and transepithelial electrophysiology. In our in vitro models, forskolin-stimulation caused organoid swelling and increased transepithelial anion transport. Full organoid swelling required Cl−while changes in short-circuit current were HCO3 −-dependent. Organoids and monolayers from an individual homozygous for the cystic fibrosis-causing ΔF508 CFTR mutation had no apical expression of CFTR and minimal changes in transepithelial current and conductance with forskolin treatment. However, organoid swelling remained intact. Dilution potential studies revealed that forskolin treatment increased the paracellular permeability to anions relative to cations. These data suggest a novel paracellular contribution to forskolin-stimulated fluid transport across the gallbladder epithelium.

Transport and Barrier Functions in Rainbow Trout Trunk Skin Are Regulated by Environmental Salinity.

The mechanisms underpinning ionic transport and barrier function have been relatively well characterised in amphibians and fish. In teleost fish, these processes have mostly been characterised in the gill and intestine. In contrast, these processes remain much less clear for the trunk skin of fish. In this study, we measured barrier function and active transport in the trunk skin of the rainbow trout, using the Ussing chamber technique. The effects of epithelial damage, skin region, salinity, and pharmacological inhibition were tested. Skin barrier function decreased significantly after the infliction of a superficial wound through the removal of scales. Wound healing was already underway after 3 h and, after 24 h, there was no significant difference in barrier function towards ions between the wounded and control skin. In relation to salinity, skin permeability decreased drastically following exposure to freshwater, and increased following exposure to seawater. Changes in epithelial permeability were accompanied by salinity-dependent changes in transepithelial potential and short-circuit current. The results of this study support the idea that barrier function in rainbow trout trunk skin is regulated by tight junctions that rapidly respond to changes in salinity. The changes in transepithelial permeability and short circuit current also suggest the presence of an active transport component. Immunostaining and selective inhibition suggest that one active transport component is an apical V-ATPase. However, further research is required to determine the exact role of this transporter in the context of the trunk skin.

Short circuit fire risk assessment in investigating and examining fires caused by emergency modes in overhead transmission lines

Emergency modes (short circuits) in electric power system and equipment are the main technical cause of fires. However, it is not always possible to prove the involvement of a particular operating mode in a fire. The fire hazard can be due to three components: a fuel load, an oxidizer and an ignition source. Since overhead transmission lines are used in an open space, they are oxidized. The presence of a fuel load is confirmed by a fire. The source of ignition should be identified. The aim of the study is to develop an algorithm for assessing the fire hazard for short circuits in overhead transmission lines with 1000 V. The study was conducted using scientific analysis, physical experiment and simulation. The ignition source is due to the appearance of an energy source with parameters sufficient to ignite a fuel load. The probability of ignition in overhead line wires depends on the probability of occurrence of the short circuit itself ( Qi (v1) ) , the probability of failure of protection devices ( Qi (v2) ), and the probability that the electric current value in the event of a fault is in the range of fire hazard values (Qi(z)). The values of the first two components are determined on the basis of statistical data, taking into account the theory of reliability. The third component is based on the experiment results. The experimental studies made it possible to establish the ranges of fire hazard values for uninsulated aluminum wires of various cross-sections, thereby providing the possibility of calculating ( Qi (z). Using the data obtained and information about the nature of changes in short-circuit currents and performance characteristics of protection devices, depending on the line length, an algorithm for assessing the fire hazard for a short circuit was developed. The results make it possible to assess the fire hazard for short circuits in various sections of the electrical network, made by overhead transmission lines, and to establish the involvement of sparks generated by short circuits in a fire

This paper discusses how short-circuit currents of turbo-genset depend on its inductive reactances for the cases of triple-, double- and single-phase shorts. The study tackles air-cooled turbo-gensets. The purpose of this work was to investigate the effect of changes in synchronous, transient and subtransient inductive reactances of turbo-genset upon short-circuit currents for different types of shorts. Short-circuit currents were calculated as per Park-Gorev equations. The changes in currents were plotted against both longitudinal and transverse axes. The results were further used to plot short-circuit currents as functions of subtransient and transient turbo-genset reactances. These plots show that even a minor change in subtransient and transient reactance results in a significant change of short-circuit current.

Modulation of Cerebrospinal Fluid Production by Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 4: Implications for Disorders of Brain Fluid Volume

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) secretion into the brain ventricular system is an active process via the choroid plexus (CP) - a specialized convoluted epithelial sheet surrounding a fenestrated capillary bed which is fed from the cerebral arterioles. The final CSF composition differs from a simple plasma filtrate implicating the CP as an important regulatory site controlling CSF composition and volume. Flux across this blood-CSF barrier is tightly controlled by ion and water transport proteins. Transient Receptor Potential Vanilloid 4 (TRPV4) is a polymodal, non-selective cation channel which functions as a regulatory hub protein in epithelia, including the CP. Our previous studies have shown that TRPV4-selective antagonists were effective at reducing ventriculomegaly in a genetic rat model of severe postnatal hydrocephalus. In CP, we found that activation of TRPV4 caused the influx of both Ca2+ and Na+ ions, and entry of both of these ions was selectively blocked by a TRPV4 antagonist. Systemic treatment with TRPV4 antagonists reduced TRPV4 mRNA expression in the CP in hydrocephalic rats, but not in normal rats, indicating a role for TRPV4 as part of a regulatory pathway in CSF production. To study the mechanism of CSF secretion by the CP, we utilized two continuous, high resistance CP cell lines: the porcine choroid plexus – Reims (PCP-R) and the human choroid plexus papilloma (HIBCPP) cells. The current experiments utilize Ussing chamber electrophysiological techniques, western blotting, qRT-PCR, and fluorescent immunolabeling. Immunolabeling and mRNA expression demonstrate a robust abundance for TRPV4 and other well-characterized CP membrane proteins in both cell lines. In both lines, TRPV4 activation stimulates a large change in short circuit current (ISC), a measure of net electrogenic ion flux. This change in ISCis coupled with a substantial change in transepithelial membrane conductance, a measure of cellular permeability. The transepithelial membrane transport changes due to TRPV4 activation in human and porcine cells are similar in overall effect, but differ in baseline, duration, and magnitude, indicating species-specific CP transport mechanisms. In both cases, these responses can be inhibited by either pre- or post-incubation with TRPV4 antagonists, substantiating the specificity to TRPV4 activation. The human cells, but not the porcine cells, demonstrate a substantial baseline transepithelial transport which is dependent on K+, Na+, and Cl- gradients. Furthermore, in both the porcine and human cells, the TRPV4 response is dependent upon K+ secretion, Cl- absorption, and Na+ secretion. These data confirm a role for TRPV4 in regulating ionic gradients, modulating both electrogenic and electroneutral transporters, and controlling CSF production. The promising results of these studies, coupled with published data from other investigators suggesting a role for TRPV4 in blood-brain-barrier permeability and astrocyte volume regulation, shows the importance of TRPV4 as a regulatory hub protein in brain fluid volume regulation.

Robust and adaptive coordination approaches for co-optimization of voltage dip and directional overcurrent relays coordination

Selectivity constraints are very crucial in directional overcurrent relays (DOCRs) coordination and could be affected by the change of short circuit current (SCC), which itself is highly dependent on network topology change (NTC). In this paper, robust and adaptive coordination approaches are used to achieve an acceptable level of power quality (PQ) and selective operation of DOCRs under NTC conditions and to find the optimal setting of DOCRs. Also, considering the importance of voltage dip, an objective function consisting of three main parts is used. The first part is defined to minimize the tripping time of relays, and the other parts are set to minimize the voltage dip energy index and voltage dip duration. Due to the importance of impedance of fault current limiter, it is considered as an optimization variable along with the time setting multiplier, setting current, and operation characteristic of DOCRs. Based on the simulation results, using robust and adaptive coordination, the DOCRs have selective operation during NTC, and voltage dip improvement is achieved.

Quaternary Protection Scheme with Optimal Dual-Directional Overcurrent Relay Setting for Smart Microgrids

The implementation of the microgrid concept with flexible grid-connected and islanded operation in distribution networks creates a variety of protection problems, including mis-coordination, protection blinding, and false tripping. Conventional protection schemes that use traditional overcurrent protective relays cannot respond to the microgrid operations in the manner of short-circuit current changes. In this paper, a novel quaternary protection scheme, along with intelligent electronic device-based dual-directional overcurrent relays, is developed for protecting against faults in microgrids with distributed generations. The proposed protection scheme provides the optimal relay setting groups that rely on the dynamic changes in the microgrid system states and the characteristics of forward and reverse short-circuit currents. The optimal protection coordination is formulated as a non-linear programming optimization problem, which is solved by evolutionary programming. The proposed approach is tested on the IEEE 34-node test feeder, which is modified as the microgrid operation equipped with multiple synchronous-based distributed generations. Test scenarios, including the implementation of different protection schemes and protective devices, are analyzed with different fault locations. The simulation results show that the quaternary protection scheme can overcome all the protection problems. In addition, the significant reduction in the total relay operating times indicates that the proposed protection scheme provides fast fault clearing when compared to the conventional protection approach.

Implementation of Optimal Protection Coordination for Microgrids with Distributed Generations Using Quaternary Protection Scheme

The flexible operation of microgrids, along with the availability of distributed generation (DG) units, causes a variety of changes in short-circuit current levels, magnitudes, and directions, which has undesirable effects on the operation of protection systems. Conventional protection schemes use typical directional overcurrent relays (DOCRs) with limited operating capability, unable to respond to microgrid operations in the manner of short-circuit current changes. In this paper, a quaternary protection scheme implemented with dual-directional overcurrent relays (dual-DOCR) and a protection control strategy is developed for protecting against faults in microgrids, taking into account the existence of DGs and connection and disconnection of DG units. The optimal dual-DOCRs setting and coordination are formulated as an optimization problem solved by evolutionary programming to minimize the relay operating times. The proposed protection scheme is implemented with a centralized protection control system based on the smart grid concept to increase the adaptability of the dual-DOCRs, which have multiple relay setting groups in accordance with system state changes. The simulation case studies are performed using the IEEE 14-bus test system, which is modified as a meshed microgrid operation. Test scenarios, including possible operations of microgrids, DGs availabilities, and different fault events, are analyzed and discussed. The comparative studies and simulation results show that the proposed scheme provides efficient coordination between the primary and backup relays and increases the responsibility of the protection system, which can be observed from the significant reduction in the relay operating times, resulting in the enhancement of selectivity, sensitivity, and speed of microgrid protection systems.

5 Transport and cholinergic innervation in the bovine oviduct are dysregulated in cystic ovary disease

Cystic ovary disease (COD) is one of the most common causes of bovine infertility and affects 7-14% of cows in European herds. The morphological and molecular causes of this disease are largely unknown. Because the oviduct is pivotal to gamete transport, fertilization, and early embryonic development, the aim of this study was to analyse the effects of COD on the function of the oviduct. Oviducts were excised from cows affected by COD (n=29) as well as from healthy cows in mid diestrus (n=20) immediately after slaughter. A unique digital live cell imaging system established in our laboratory was used to capture real-time videos of ciliary beat and tubal fluid flow under near invivo conditions. For ciliary beat frequency, the differences in grayscale of beating cilia were transformed into frequencies using ImageJ (National Institutes for Health) and AutoSignal (SyStat Software Inc.). For particle transport speed (PTS), polystyrene beads were added to the buffer media and were automatically tracked using ImagePro (Media Cybernetics). Additionally, smooth muscle contraction and epithelial ion transport were investigated using organ baths and Ussing chambers. Our results showed that PTS was significantly decreased in oviducts from cows affected by COD as compared with controls (P=0.01, unpaired t-test). Further, in healthy control cows, PTS was consistently increased in the oviduct ipsilateral to ovulation as compared with the contralateral oviduct (P=0.03, paired t-test). This was not the case in cows affected by COD (P=0.47, paired t-test). Reduced PTS in oviducts from cows with COD was not due to changes in ciliary beat frequency. Although smooth muscle contraction was similar in oviducts from healthy and COD cows, the contractile response (mN) to the cholinomimetic drug carbachol (10−7-10−4 M) was significantly reduced in COD as compared with the controls (P<0.0001, nonlinear regression best fit analysis). Active epithelial ion transport, as measured by the change in short circuit current (μA cm−2), was stimulated by carbachol. Carbachol-induced active ion transport in the oviducal epithelium of COD cows was significantly decreased as compared with controls (P=0.03, unpaired t-test of area under the curve). These results suggest, for the first time, that the transport of the gametes and the early embryo might be impaired in COD. Further, inadequate or insufficient cholinergic innervation may result in dysregulated fluid flow, which might be associated with alterations in oviducal metabolism and gamete or embryo nutrition. This knowledge is pivotal to establish novel therapeutic concepts for successful treatment of infertility in individuals affected by COD.

An electron donating controlling strategy for design several dithieno[3,2-b:2′,3′-d]pyrrole based dyes with D–D–A structure in dye-sensitized solar cells

One of the important strategies for designing pure organic dyes is to improve the electron donating abilities of dye donors hence increase the intramolecular potential energy difference. In order to quantify the electron-donating capacity of organic units, we firstly propose a parameter donation ability (DA) value for evaluating the electron DA of organic units via theoretical calculation, by using of several fragments such as coplanar dithiophenyl pyrrole, triphenylamine (TPA), phenothiazine (PTZ) and cyanoacetic acid (CA) which is the research objects here. Inspired by the DA values of the above organic fragments, dye PSD-9, PSA-10 and PST-11 were designed and synthesized. Cyclic voltammetric (CV) measurements show that the DA values of dye PSA-10 and PST-11’s donor increases when TPA and PTZ groups are introduced into PSD-9, hence HOMO level increases and the band-gap narrow down. This change is reflected in the absorption spectra: the maximum absorption wavelength of PSA-10 and PST-11 is 63 and 84 nm red-shifted compared with PSD-9. Similarly, the molar extinction coefficients of PSA-10 and PST-11 are increased by 34.7 × 103 and 14.7 × 103 M−1 cm−1, respectively. Combining a mesoporous titania film grafted by these dithiophenyl pyrrole dye with iodine electrolyte, an 4.2% and 4.8% power conversion effciency (PCE) is achieved for PSA-10 and PST-11 at an irradiance of the AM1.5G sunlight, with an significant increasing compared to PSD-9 with an PCE of 1.6%. The typical photocurrent density–voltage (J–V) test shows that the short circuit current of dye PSA-10 and PST-11 is much higher than that of PSD-9, which is the main reason for the improvement of PCE. The red-shift and stronger IPCE curve is the most advantageous evidence of the change of short circuit current. Furthermore, electrochemical impedance measurements is studied for exploring the changes of open-circuit voltage of PSA-10 and PST-11, the results infer that larger donor units and long alkyl chains can effectively increasing current density on photoanode, hence increase the open circuit voltage of the devices.

191 Early weaning in pigs induces long-term alterations in intestinal nutrient transporter function and expression partially via beta adrenergic enteric neural receptors

Abstract Early weaning (EW) has negative impacts on performance and health that persist from wean-to-finish. The mechanisms linking EW and lifetime performance reductions are poorly understood. The objective of this study was to investigate whether EW influences the long-term development of intestinal epithelial nutrient transporter function and expression and the potential mechanisms. Yorkshire gilts were split-weaned from their sows at 15 d (EW) or 28 d of age (Late Weaning; LW) and transferred to an on-site nursery room. All pigs received the same diets in a standard phase feeding program and were euthanized at 75 d of age. Mid-jejunum and distal ileum were mounted on Ussing chambers to evaluate Na+-dependent glucose and amino acid (AA) transporter function, measured as nutrient-induced changes in short circuit current (Isc). EW gilts exhibited reduced capacity for electrogenic transport of glucose (by ~30%; P < 0.05) and glutamate, glutamine, and alanine by (~ 30–35%; P < 0.05), compared with LW pigs. In contrast, jejunal and ileal lysine transporter function was upregulated (by 110% and 25%, respectively; P < 0.05) in EW pigs. Epithelial expression for glucose transporter (SGLT1) was reduced (P < 0.05) while glucose/fructose transporter (GLUT2), fructose transporter (GLUT5) and lysine transporters (B0AT1, CAT1, and ATB0, +) were enhanced in the EW jejunum. No differences observed in villus morphology between EW and LW pigs. Pretreatment of ileal mucosa on Ussing chambers with the Na+ channel blocker (Tetrodotoxin) or the β-adrenergic receptor blocker (Propranolol) augmented glucose, lysine and alanine transporter function in EW but not LW pigs. Together, these data show that EW in gilts induces lasting and divergent alterations in intestinal nutrient transporter function and expression which is mediated in part by the enteric nervous system and β-adrenergic receptor pathways. These new findings may explain why EW pigs exhibit lasting deleterious impacts on performance. Further mechanism-based investigations could reveal new targets for optimizing performance in EW pigs throughout the production lifespan.

Study on the defect density of states in light soaking effect enhanced performance of perovskite solar cells

The light soaking phenomenon, in chlorine-based mixed halide perovskite solar cells (PSC) with p-i-n configuration, is studied. Due to light soaking, the solar cells have shown improved open circuit voltage, fill factor (FF), and power conversion efficiency without much change in short circuit current. The devices have returned to their original state upon extended exposure to dark conditions. Capacitance spectroscopy is used to understand the effect of light soaking on various photovoltaic parameters. The observed increase of capacitance value with light soaking in the low frequency region of the capacitance-frequency (C–F) plot is elucidated, as the coupled effect of electronic and ionic processes involving defects. The decrement in the mid-frequency capacitance is attributed to an increase in the width of the depletion region which eventually facilitated the improvement in open circuit voltage and FF. Defect densities, and its distribution in the energy space, are deduced before and after light soaking. The defects density of states of PSC studied are found to reduce from 1016 to 1015 eV−1 cm−3, with a Gaussian distribution, and having a peak energy shift from 0.27 to 0.26 eV.
