Application of the thermoeconomic functional approach to the CGAM problem

A gas-turbine cogeneration system with a regenerative air preheater and a single-pressure exhaust gas boiler serves as an example for application of three different analysis and optimization procedures: 1. (i) direct use of a nonlinear programming algorithm, 2. (ii) thermoeconomic functional approach, and 3. (iii) modular simulation and optimization of the system. The results obtained with the three methods are compared with each other. The sensitivity of the optimal solution to certain parameters and of the objective function to the independent variables is studied. Conclusions are drawn regarding the applicability of each procedure to more complicated optimization problems.

Application of engineering functional analysis to the analysis and optimization of the CGAM problem

This article is intended to shed light on the use of a methodology called Engineering Functional Analysis (EFA) for the thermoeconomic optimization of energy systems. It is applied here to the gas turbine cogeneration cycle of the CGAM problem.

Exergoeconomic evaluation and optimization of energy systems — application to the CGAM problem

A simple cogeneration system consisting of a regenerative gasturbine system and a heat-recovery steam generator serves as an example to illustrate the application of exergoeconomic methods for evaluating and optimizing complex energy systems. We discuss various exergycosting approaches, the exergoeconomic variables, and the procedures used in evaluating and optimizing energy systems.

Application of the exergetic cost theory to the CGAM problem

An optimization strategy for complex thermal systems is presented. The strategy is based on conventional techniques and incorporates assumptions and consequences of the exergetic cost theory (ECT) and of symbolic exergoeconomics. In addition to the results obtained by consventional techniques, this method provides valuable information about the interaction of components.
