AbstractThis research was aimed at describing the forms and causes of misconceptions that found inSD Negeri 2 Nanga Silat. The method in this study used the interview technique, which 9students of class V elementary school were selected as samples by purposive sampling.Technique of Interview About Instances (IAI) was used to explore the concepts of light,especially to found out the forms and causes of students' misconceptions who used theKapuas Hulu Malay language. The results show misunderstandings occurred in all conceptsof light, such as connection of light with the sense of sight and the reflection of light (9misconceptions from 9 students), in the concept of light travels straight line (3misconceptions from 4 students), in the concept of light encounter transparent materials (3misconceptions from 3 students), misconceptions about refraction of light (6 misconceptionsfrom 9 students), and misconceptions about light (13 misconceptions from 9 students). Thecauses of misconceptions which dominated by students such as preconception, associativethinking, humanistic thinking, interest in learning, wrong intuition, incomplete/wrongreasoning, and textbooks.Keywords : Describe, Misconceptions, Causes, Light.
