This study aimed to interpret the value of integration of TRIZ (Teoriya Resheniya Izobretatelskih Zadach; Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) and ChatGPT(Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer) to enhance technological and entrepreneurial problem-solving and decision-making. TRIZ offers a structured approach to innovation, while ChatGPT excels in generating diverse and innovative responses through advanced natural language processing. From the combination of them, we tried to discover synergies that promote innovation in highly competitive business areas. Through the analysis of case studies, including "Imperfect Waterproof Zipper" and "Drilling a Hole in a Thin-Walled Tube", we discovered that this integration not only aligns with actual problem-solving outcomes but also enhances the quality of solutions, particularly benefiting developers with limited TRIZ knowledge. We identified that leveraging ChatGPT enables developers and entrepreneurs to approach challenges with enhanced creativity, yielding practical and innovative solutions through these case studies. Our approach, focusing on real-world applications, demonstrates the study's contribution by providing a novel strategy for combining structured problem-solving with AI capabilities. The primary motivation behind this research was to ascertain whether AI can amplify the problem-solving framework of TRIZ, thereby extending its utility beyond traditional domains. The findings underline the importance of AI in creative problem-solving, suggesting that even those unfamiliar with TRIZ can apply its principles effectively with the aid of ChatGPT. This research adds to the existing knowledge by showcasing how AI can be a powerful ally in the creative process, offering new avenues for problem-solving and strategic decision-making. In conclusion, our study demonstrates that the collaboration between TRIZ and ChatGPT not only elevates creativity but also equips developers and entrepreneurs with competitive strategies, emphasizing the role of AI in driving forward human innovation and creativity.

Exploring the Vital Role of Colors and Shapes in Architectural Design and Education

This study investigates the crucial influence of color and form on architectural design and architecture education, highlighting how these elements shape the aesthetics of the built environment and impact human experiences. The central problem addressed is the need to understand the interaction between color and form in creating spaces that evoke specific emotions and cultural narratives, contributing to an architecture that goes beyond functionality. The importance of this study lies in demonstrating how the careful integration of these elements can enrich the built environment and improve the quality of architectural education. The methodology adopted includes the analysis of case studies and expert opinions, along with the exploration of innovative methods in the teaching of architecture, which combine practical learning, virtual simulations and interdisciplinary collaboration. The results indicate that an in-depth understanding of the dynamic relationship between colors and shapes allows architects, but also society in general, to enhance their creativity, contributing to a more culturally significant and aesthetically impactful built environment.

Pushing the Boundaries of Architectural and Engineering Education

This study investigates the impact of an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach to architecture and engineering education through a case study analysis based on a Solar Decathlon studio conducted in Turkey. The studio, which competed in the Solar Decathlon Design Challenge 2024, engaged architecture and engineering students, academics, and professionals in collaboration with design and industry partners to repurpose an abandoned school site. The study uses a hermeneutic methodology to explore the lived experiences of team participants and assess the outcomes, benefits, and challenges of the interdisciplinary and collaborative studio experience in developing a professional horizon and design knowledge and skills to address contemporary issues. Through semi-structured interviews, surveys, and thematic analysis, the study sheds light on the symbiotic relationship between academia, industry, civil society, and state departments in architectural and engineering education. This research contributes to understanding the potential of interdisciplinary design education in addressing the 21st-century problems in the built environment.

The Balakat Tree Project: A Case Study on Higher Education Institutions’ Role in Climate Change Mitigation and Environmental Sustainability

This study examines the Balakat Tree Project, a sustainability initiative by Mabalacat City College (MCC), highlighting the critical role of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in climate change mitigation and environmental sustainability. The project focuses on restoring and protecting the culturally and ecologically significant Balakat tree, a species vital for local biodiversity and cultural heritage. Through a mixed-methods approach combining a scoping review and case study analysis, this research demonstrates the transformative potential of HEIs in mitigating climate change and advancing sustainability efforts. The study emphasizes the importance of academic stewardship, community engagement, and conservation efforts in promoting environmental conservation and biodiversity preservation. The Balakat Tree Project is a prime example of HEIs’ leadership in sustainability initiatives, leveraging their resources to drive environmental responsibility and foster a culture of sustainability.

Analysis of the Current Situation and Countermeasures for College Students Returning to Employment and Entrepreneurship under the Background of Rural Revitalization

With the in-depth implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, an increasing number of college students are choosing to return to their hometowns for employment and entrepreneurship, becoming an important force in promoting rural development. This paper aims to explore the current situation of college students returning to their hometowns for employment and entrepreneurship against the backdrop of rural revitalization, as well as the challenges they face. Through an analysis of relevant policies, data, and case studies, it was found that college students currently face issues such as insufficient funding, unstable market conditions, and a lack of skills and experience during their return. To address these challenges, this paper proposes corresponding countermeasures, including strengthening policy support, providing vocational training, utilizing social resources, and encouraging innovative cooperation. It is hoped that this research can provide references for policymakers and college students, promoting the sustainable development of the rural economy.

The costs of school exclusion: a case study analysis of England, Wales and Scotland

ABSTRACT The cost of permanent exclusion from school is an issue that has been gaining increasing attention in recent years. However, efforts to estimate these costs have mainly focused on those incurred after the student has been excluded, such as those for alternative education providers. Less focus has been given to costs associated with processes leading up to exclusion, including the time spent by school staff and other professionals (e.g. counsellors, special education needs specialists) in efforts to prevent exclusion, or to mitigate negative outcomes. Moreover, the unpaid time and effort spent by parents/carers during this process often go unaccounted for, despite significant financial implications from foregone productivity and income. In this paper, we use a series of five case studies based on in-depth interviews with different stakeholders from England, Scotland and Wales to illustrate the potential involvement of the professionals and parents/carers in the process leading up to – or the measures preventing – permanent exclusion, and estimate the associated costs. It is important to highlight these costs for future resource planning, as well as to present a more comprehensive picture of the true costs of permanent exclusion.

Buddhist participatory communication for rural development: a comparative analysis of case studies in Sri Lanka, Lao PDR, Thailand and lessons learned for Vietnam

ABSTRACT Religion, the foundation of all cultures, can serve as a potential substitute for participatory communication and rural community development. This paper attempts to (1) analyse how the Buddhist approach is integrated into development communication initiatives in three countries, namely Sri Lanka, Lao PDR and Thailand, (2) identify the key principles and values of Buddhist philosophy that inform development communication practices in these countries, (3) examine similarities and differences in the Buddhist-based development initiatives and projects conducted in the three countries and (4) provide insights and recommendations for Vietnam through analysing how Buddhist-inspired approaches to development communication have been conceptualised and implemented in these Asian nations by making use of comparative case studies research method. The study reveals that while these initiatives share a philosophical basis centred on Buddhism and local culture integration where Buddhist monks/nuns play important roles, they vary notably in the methods applied due to differences in cultural context. This comparative analysis aims to inform future endeavours in Vietnam and beyond, advocating for culturally sensitive and spiritually grounded approaches to rural development.

This trend underscores the importance of having a mobile-friendly online presence for entrepreneurs to effectively reach their target audience. E-commerce is a tool through which firms can attain competitive advantage. Therefore it is interesting to further explore how firms exactly go about implementing e-commerce systems, and which path firms take from e-commerce idea generation up to realization of e-commerce success.To comprehensively understand the impact of e-commerce on small businesses, it is crucial to conduct a multiple case studies analysis using a qualitative research design. Small businesses experience challenges before, when, and after integrating e-commerce into their operational structures internally and externally, such as perceiving the technology as an unnecessary business cost, lack of resources to fund e-commerce infrastructure, and absence of managerial support to adopting a radical approach to innovation and growth of the business. The analysis of the impacts of e-commerce on small businesses helps to determine the opportunities and challenges in the business operation process.

Social-Ecological Urbanism as a Research Perspective to Analyse Transportation Inequalities in the Region of Łódź, Poland

The systems perspective enables the understanding of complex transformations which take place in urban regions. Social-ecological urbanism is an analytical methodology that integrates the systems perspective and unpacks relationships between the social-ecological and socio-technical subsystems of urban regions. In this article, we look for the most suitable approach to analysing the transformations of a tramway system and its impacts on public transportation inequalities in the metropolitan region of Łódź, Poland. As a departure point, we use the classic methods of communicative planning theory. The presented method uses a detailed case study analysis that carefully follows all the activities, stakeholders, and processes. We complement this approach by looking at the ongoing transformations of transportation equity through the lens of socio-ecological urbanism and by analysing the stakeholders’ roles and attitudes within the process. Our analysis indicates the role of public participation in the process, which affected and strengthened the transformations. This approach is greatly enhanced by the application of the social-ecological urbanism framework, with its analysis of services performed by various system components. Understanding their specific roles helps in planning future redevelopment. Our key finding is the necessity of combining communicative planning methods with strategic planning of the systems transformation process.

Environmental and economic dynamics of the Galician fishing sector and compared perceptions of the agents involved in the value chain

ABSTRACT This case study analyses and compares the perceptions of agents that participate in different productive and commercial processes of the fishing activity (such as small-scale fisheries, distant-water fisheries and processing and commercialisation companies). It focuses on the regional level (Galicia, NW Spain) and considers sustainability, governance and socioeconomic aspects from the perspective of socioecological systems. Results show similarities and differences in agents’ perceptions related with specific aspects and problems relevant to each group, intersectoral relations and sustainability issues. In this sense, agents share a positive perception of the sustainability objectives proposed by international organisations, as well as concerns about the uncertainty linked to globalisation processes. However, they differ in their evaluation of some specific regulatory measures. Regulatory policies could consider this information in order to achieve a greater degree of complicity and compliance by fishers and other agents of the value chain.

Contextualizing Human Rights in Multicultural Environments

This paper explores the intricate relationship between socio-cultural dynamics and human rights in multicultural societies. It examines how norms, belief systems, and power structures shape the perception and exercise of these universal principles. The study employs a qualitative research design, specifically using the Cultural Relativism Framework, to investigate how cultural norms and values influence the interpretation and application of human rights. Through the analysis of literature and case studies, the paper elucidates the interaction between cultural context and human rights interpretations. It acknowledges that human rights are not uniform but are influenced by diverse cultural contexts. Key findings underscore the significance of multiculturalism in human rights interpretation, the impact of social, cultural, and political contexts, the intersection of values, beliefs, and customs, and the roles of states, civil society, and international organizations in shaping human rights discourse. The paper advocates for educational initiatives, intercultural dialogue, inclusive policymaking, and legal reforms to promote and protect human rights in diverse societies. It recommends enhancing human rights education, facilitating intercultural exchange, empowering civil society, addressing discrimination and inequality, and integrating customary laws with formal legal systems. By fostering mutual respect and understanding, societies can uphold human rights and cultural diversity, enabling peaceful, equitable coexistence. This assertion is based on empirical observations and scientific principles that highlight the importance of mutual understanding in preserving human rights and promoting cultural diversity. This paper contributes to a deeper understanding of human rights, advocating for a balance between universal principles and cultural specificities.

Traditional Marriage Culture Among People from Different Nationalities: A Study of Cultural Adaptation in the Gampong Iboih Community, Suka Karya District, Sabang City, Aceh Province

A marriage between different nationalities is a marriage between two people residing in Indonesia who are subject to different laws due to differences in nationality, with one of the parties being an Indonesian citizen. The process of implementing marriages between nations often requires cultural adaptation. Cultural adaptation in traditional marriages between nations is a process in which couples from different cultures attempt to incorporate elements from their respective cultures into their marriage. This is an important step in understanding and respecting cultural differences, as well as ensuring that the marriage takes place in harmony. Apart from the many factors that support marriage between nations, various factors inhibit marriage between nations, obstacles, and problems that affect the harmony of relationships. Thus, this research aims to describe and analyze cultural adaptations to marriage between nations in the Gampong Iboih community, Suka Makmue District, Sabang City and analyze the supporting and inhibiting factors of marriage culture in the Gampong Iboih community, Suka Makmue District, Sabang City. The research uses a qualitative approach method and the nature of the research used is a descriptive analysis of research case studies. Data sources come from primary and secondary data, and data were analyzed using descriptive qualitative techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. Interviews were conducted in Gampong Iboih, Suka Makmue District, Sabang City, Aceh Province. The informants in this research were members of community groups who carried out traditional marriages between nations. Results show that the cultural adaptation process resulting from marriage between nations takes the form of language/communication, wedding ceremonies, culinary traditions, and children’s education. The supporting factors for marriage between nations include openness, tolerance between both parties, flexibility, education, and social support. Apart from that, several factors inhibit marriage between nations, namely different values and norms between husband and wife, citizenship and legal issues, and language differences. Increased Poverty: The Failure of Government Programs and the Natural Resource Factor

The Indonesian government, including local governments, has spent large sums of money and many programs to reduce poverty. However, in several regions in Indonesia, the number of poor people has increased, as in Central Kalimantan, where the poverty rate has increased in the last three years. The number of poor people in Central Kalimantan in 2020 is 132 thousand people; this number increased to 140 thousand people in 2021, then increased again to 145 thousand in 2022. Research on poverty has been carried out in Indonesia. However, research analyzing poverty caused by natural factors and mismanaged government policies has not been carried out. This research was conducted to analyze poverty in Central Kalimantan between state policy governance factors and natural factors. The research uses analytical qualitative methods and case study designs. The analysis uses the new institutional theory and the natural resource curse theory. The research finds that mistakes in managing government policies (structural dimension) and nature (natural dimension) are factors that both play a role in increasing poverty in Central Kalimantan. As a practical suggestion, the government needs to make more intense and detailed efforts to alleviate poverty in Central Kalimantan that are adapted to natural conditions. Adolescent dropouts’ functioning in relationships with parents and peers

A qualitative case study analysis of 14-19-year old dropouts and their relationships with the parents and peers is performed to determine differences in their functioning. Generalizations are made based on the decision tree generated by Quinlan’s algorithm. Based on it, a model of the variant modes of adolescent dropouts’ functioning is constructed. The results of the study show the mechanism and genesis of the different modes of functioning of adolescent dropouts in relationships with their parents and peers: from the rejection of the parents and attempts to find safety among the peers to efforts to improve the self-image by manipulating parents and peers and attempts to tackle problems. By explaining the genesis and mechanisms of adolescent dropouts’ functioning, the model helps understand why they decide to discontinue education and the potential role of their parents and/or peers in creating more effective support programmes.

Leveraging Blockchain for Transparent and Efficient Supply Chain Management: Business Implications and Case Studies

Blockchain technology has surfaced as a revolutionary response to important challenges in supply chain management, such as a scarcity of transparency, inefficiencies, and potential for fraud. This study looks into the implementation of blockchain in supply chain systems, focusing especially on improving transparency, operational efficiency, and the trust among stakeholders. The analysis of genuine case studies in retail, logistics, and manufacturing illustrates the ways blockchain facilitates better traceability, cuts transaction times, and increases security via immutable and valid records. This study uses a mixed-methodology by blending quantitative data analytics from secondary sources with qualitative observations from reports in the industry. Findings point to the fact that adopting blockchain technology has improved supply chain efficiency by 15-30% and reduced fraud by as much as 40%, together with a striking decrease in processing times throughout global logistics networks. The originality of this research is found in its complete examination of the economic and operational effects of blockchain, offering business leaders tactical insights on maximizing their supply chains through this technology. The paper culminates with suggestions for resolving implementation issues and tactics for extending blockchain solutions in complex international networks.

The (re)production of ‘normal’ sexuality: a study of sexuality education for students with psychological and behavioural challenges in the Netherlands

ABSTRACT Dutch school-based sexuality education, renowned for its progressiveness and positive impact on sexual health, has been criticised for advancing a limited, yet dominant discourse on sexuality shaped by societal and political factors. Critics have argued that it perpetuates a narrow conception of ‘normal’ sexuality tied to neoliberal, secular, able-bodied, white, heteronormative norms. This inadvertently excludes certain social groups, such as people with disabilities. While the exclusion of people with disabilities has been critiqued by crip theory, an unexplored area remains: how does ‘normal’ sexuality manifest itself in tailored sexuality education for students with disabilities? This study focused specifically on children who faced psychological and behavioural challenges. By means of a case study, interviews, observations, and discourse analysis, the research revealed that, despite flexibility, the curriculum and implementation of sexuality education for this members of group still retains aspects of ‘normal’ sexuality. Based on our findings, we advocate for further exploration of sexuality education for students with special educational needs, incorporating perspectives from individuals with disabilities, teachers and experts. To promote a more inclusive approach to sexuality education, we recommend providing formal training to educators to guide them in navigating these issues in the classroom implementation of sexuality education.
