Precocious puberty is a hormonal alteration in infants, which leads to the development of mature sexual characteristics ahead of time; In recent years, the number of cases in consultation has increased, which is why the objective was to carry out an updated systematic review on the properties of luteinizing hormone, focusing on its detection capacity and cut-off value to identify precocious puberty in the population. pediatric population. The article was based on a systematic literature review, by searching for scientific articles published from 2019 to 2024 in the PubMed, Cochrane, ScienceDirect and MEDLINE databases. Nine researches were studied that differ in terms of the relevant properties of the luteinizing hormone test. It has not been possible to reach a consensus on the appropriate time to perform and evaluate this test, as it can vary between 30 and 60 minutes, even up to 180 minutes. Furthermore, the changes are notable with respect to the cut-off point; specificity and sensitivity, which is why it is important to carry out new lines of research that encourage establishing certain values that guide health personnel to reach the diagnosis of precocious puberty.

Physico-chemical, textural, microbiological and sensory properties together with fatty acid profiles of presumptive probiotic yoghurts fortified with persimmon (Diospyros kaki) powder.

This research paper focuses on enrichment of yoghurt containing probiotic Lactobacillus casei with persimmon (Diospyros kaki) powder in concentrations of 0 (Control) and then 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0% (A-D respectively) and determination of some characteristics of the product during refrigerated storage for 21 d. Powder addition affected the color characteristics, textural properties, titratable acidity and water-holding capacity values. The viability of both yoghurt bacteria (Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus) and L. casei increased proportionally to adding persimmon powder for all storage days. Furthermore, addition of fruit powder increased short-chain fatty acid and polyunsaturated fatty acid contents. According to sensory analysis results, sample D had the lowest scores from the panelists, whereas the Control together with samples B and C were the most liked yoghurts in terms of flavor characteristics. In terms of overall acceptability, all of the samples received scores over three points on a five-point scale throughout storage. This study indicates that persimmon powder enriched yoghurt is a good vehicle for L. casei and yoghurt bacteria with improved fatty acid profile and acceptable sensory characteristics.

Influence of Breakages of Reinforcing Elements of a Composite Orthotropic Stay Rope on Its Stress-Strain State

The purpose of research is to justify a calculation method for a stay rope of composite fiber structure with a breakage in fiber continuity. Research methodology is in constructing and solving a deformation model of a composite fiber stay rope with continuity breakage of one of its fibers. The calculation method of a stress-strain state of a stay rope of composite fiber structure considering the breakage of one of its fibers is established. The scientific novelty of research is in determining that the length of manifestation of a local disturbance of a stress-strain state of composite stay rope is proportional to a square root of a ratio of tensile modulus of a reinforcing element material and shear modulus of an elastic material that connects them. The practical value of the research is in that the calculation method allows reasonable prediction of a tractive capacity loss of a stay rope as a result of breakage of any of its reinforcing elements. The known value of residual tractive capacity allows reasonable selection of a safety margin for a stay rope, which ensures a sufficient level of reliability of a cable-stayed bridge.

The implications of removing race from interpretation of pulmonary function among persons with or without HIV.

Studies suggest that the use of race-specific pulmonary function reference equations may obscure racial inequities in respiratory health. Whether removing race from the interpretation of pulmonary function would influence analyses of HIV and pulmonary function is unknown. Pulmonary function measurements from 1,067 men (591 with HIV) in the Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study (MACS) and 1,661 women (1,175 with HIV) in the Women's Interagency HIV Study (WIHS) were analyzed. Percent-of-predicted values for spirometry and single-breath diffusing capacity of carbon monoxide (DLCO) measurements were generated with race-specific reference equations derived from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and with the race-neutral application of reference equations derived from the Global Lung Function Initiative database. Regression models were used to evaluate the association between HIV and percent-of-predicted measures of pulmonary function. Alpaydin's F test was used to compare how well these values predicted self-reported respiratory health-related quality of life. Persons with HIV were observed to have significantly lower percent-of-predicted DLCO than those without HIV but no significant differences in spirometric measures of pulmonary function, regardless of whether a race-specific or race-neutral approach was used. Among men, but not women, the race-neutral application of reference equations to generate percent-of-predicted DLCO values performed better for predicting respiratory-related quality of life. The race-neutral application of pulmonary function reference equations continues to identify lung function impairment in persons with or at risk for HIV and, for DLCO, may be superior to the use of race-specific reference equations in identifying clinically relevant impairments.

SULFIDE CAPACITY AND PROPERTIES OF MODIFIED BUCKET SLAGS

Ladle slag during the entire period of iron refining must have a sufficient degree of ability to hold sulfides while simultaneously ensuring the minimization of iron losses. In ladles with recycled cast iron entering the desulphurization department, slags are formed already during the release of cast iron from the blast furnace or pouring from the mixer, which differ significantly from blast furnace slag in terms of physical and chemical properties. The basicity and sulphide capacity of slags decreases, which due to their active mixing with cast iron is accompanied by an increase in sulfur in the metal.The composition of slags, formed from the remains of blast furnace or mixer slags and products of chemical reactions of sulfur removal by injection of mixtures based on lime and magnesium, needs adjustment to increase the sulfide capacity while simultaneously thinning them to prevent excessive losses of iron with the slag. The use of an additional amount of fluidized lime for adjustment leads to an increase in the processing cost. It is proposed to use a slag modifier based on CaO- and Al2O3-containing steel processing waste to reduce the costs of fluidized lime. The rational specific consumption of modifiers was determined depending on the initial composition of ladle slags and the change in their sulfide capacity was calculated using models based on the concept of optical basicity.The change in melting point, viscosity, and melting point of modified ladle slags was determined, and the concentration path of CaO- and Al2O3-containing waste modified with additives was investigated. It is shown that for the typical composition of the ladle slag of cast iron desulfurization plant of PrJSC «Kamet-Stal», the sulfide capacity values ​​range from 1.0.10-4 to 20.0.10-4, which corresponds to blast furnace slags of the CaO-SiO2-MnO-Al2O3-MgO system with increased desulfurizing ability. The change in the amount of the solid fraction in the final slag in the course of refining and the effect of the basicity of the modified slag on the sulfur distribution coefficient in non-stationary temperature conditions were determined. With the application of the linear programming method, the range of rational chemical composition of ladle slag for the conditions of cast iron desulfurization plant of PrJSC «Kamet-Stal» was determined. Modified ladle slag with a basicity of 1.11-1.41 and a content of 40-51% CaO; 36-51 %SiO2 and 6-21 %Al2O3 are proposed to be considered as satisfying the given range of selected metallurgical properties.

Analysis of soil bearing capacity to determine foundation design in Ngawi City, Indonesia

Abstract Improving economic value in a region can be achieved through planned infrastructure support. As one of the biggest shopping centers, Ngawi Big Market has revitalization activity. Before beginning the revitalization process, it is crucial to test the ability of soil to withstand the load, which is called the soil bearing capacity. In the process of this research, the analysis was carried out by evaluating geological and geotechnical conditions, and calculations of soil bearing capacity values. Analysis of soil bearing capacity value was using NSPT data which uses the equation from Luciano Decourt along data from laboratory tests. The lithology of the research area consists of siltstone, and the drilling results consist of silt, fine sand and clay. The land area of Ngawi Big Market is 15,000m2 with the building area of the previous market being 14,500m2. The permitted lowest bearing capacity is at point BH-T3, namely 6.7 tons at a depth of 2.0 meters, while the highest is at point BH-T1, namely 380.3 tons at a depth of 20.00 meters. Based on the results of the analysis, Ngawi Big Market’s revitalization project recommended to carry out the geotechnical engineering to strengthen the soil as well as detailed calculations of building loads so that they do not exceed the permitted bearing capacity.

CHARACTERIZATION OF CAKES PRODUCED WITH DIFFERENT LEGUME AQUAFABA

This study investigates the potential of aquafaba, derived from various legumes including white chickpeas, black chickpeas, white beans, and red beans, as an egg substitute in cake production. Aquafaba samples were analyzed for physicochemical properties and functional characteristics at different pH levels. The results revealed that the foam and emulsion properties of all aquafaba samples at pH 3 were superior to those obtained at other pH values. Specifically, at pH 3, foam capacity values were approximately 238.74±28.54%, 231.25±26.52%, 237.50±17.68%, and 112.50±17.68% for aquafaba derived from white chickpeas, black chickpeas, white beans, and red beans, respectively. Aquafaba derived from white chickpeas demonstrated the highest foam stability at pH 3 (92.43±0.61%), followed by black chickpeas (86.96±3.30%). Similarly, emulsion capacity at pH 3 was highest for aquafaba derived from white chickpeas (41.14±11.73%), followed by black chickpeas (65.33±26.28%), white beans (28.94±37.69%), and red beans (49.65±9.57%). Emulsion stability was measured as 100% for aquafaba derived from white chickpeas, black chickpeas, and white beans at pH 3, with slightly lower values observed for aquafaba from red beans. Furthermore, aquafaba derived from different legumes exhibited varying protein contents at pH 3, ranging from 17.75±0.05% to 19.20±0.09%. Cake production with aquafaba as an egg substitute was conducted at pH 3, with analyses including moisture, ash, protein, fat, color, texture, specific volume, weight loss, and sensory evaluation. Results indicate the potential of aquafaba as a versatile egg substitute in cake formulations, with promising foam and emulsion properties, protein content, and sensory attributes.

The Influence of Gerogi Animation Video Education (Toothbrushing Movement) on Toothbrushing Behavior in Class IV School Children at SD Negeri 3 Baktirasa South Lampung in 2024

The School Dental Health Program (UKGS) offers a practical solution to the dental health issues of children by offering instruction on motor skills, which includes the effective use of tooth brushing techniques. It is the objective of UKGS to enhance and preserve the dental and oral health of all students in schools by providing health education that involves health workers and dentists, as well as by educating students on the significance of maintaining dental and oral sanitation. The purpose of this investigation is to ascertain the impact of Gerogi Animation Video Education (Tooth Brushing Movement) on the tooth brushing behavior of Grade IV students at SD Negeri 3 Baktirasa, South Lampung in 2024. The quantitative method employed in this investigation is a pre-experimental design with a pretest-posttest sample size of one group. There were 54 students included in this investigation. For the Random Sampling technique, a sample of 48 students was selected from the population. After conducting statistical tests, it has been determined that the average value (mean) of children's capacity to brush their teeth was 8.40 prior to receiving health education and 11.21 subsequent to receiving health education. Bivariate analysis indicates that the provision of animated video education has a significant impact on the tooth hygiene behavior of grade IV students at SD Negeri 3 Baktirasa, South Lampung in 2024, with a p-value of 0.000. The findings of this investigation can be employed as a source of information to demonstrate that educational videos on dental brushing have an impact on the toothbrushing behavior of children and to broaden the selection of educational media in health education for elementary school children. It is anticipated that the UKS in schools will be able to deliver health education through the use of animated videos, which will be more engaging and simpler for students to comprehend.

Enhanced cathodic electrodes from V2O5 nanorods: Pioneering organic dye degradation and optimized catalysis for sustainable supercapattery devices

Encapsulating the essence of multifunctionality, the synthesized Vanadium Pentoxide (V2O5) nanorods (NRs) are adaptable innovators of visible-light photocatalytic degradation and sustainable supercapattery device fabrication. Meanwhile, the physicochemical properties are investigated by precise instruments. The V2O5 NRs demonstrate improved photocatalytic performance over a 100-min duration, effectively catalyzing the methylene blue (MB) degradation with a remarkable degradation percentage of 98.37 % (25 mg catalysis) and shows a lower wavelength shift due to MB molecular braking. In a groundbreaking twist, this work utilises tainted V2O5 NRs, ingeniously repurposing them to energy storage tenacities. In addition, the electrochemical assessment of tainted V2O5 NRs demonstrated subtle changes after MB degradation, increasing the specific capacity (Cs) value from 794 to 933C.g−1 due to developing reduced particle agglomeration. Moreover, the better Cs value of tainted V2O5 NRs reached 95.02 % after 500 cycles (5 A.g−1). The fabricated asymmetric supercapattery (ASC) device demonstrates superior ion diffusion processes, as evidenced by Dunn's method calculations, particularly at a scan rate of 5 mV.s−1. Additionally, the assembled device underscored their unique positioning between battery and capacitor materials, distinctly supported by a “b” value of 0.8 and superior capacity retentivity. They reached a superior power (P = 191.75 W.kg−1) with energy (E = 50 Wh.kg−1) and better cyclic stability, maintaining their performance over 4000 cycles at 5 A. g−1 (91.3 %). Furthermore, under exposure to the light of a yellow light emitting diode (LED) for 30 s, the real-time consequences of after cyclic stability material of tainted V2O5 NRs are investigated, providing meaningful insights into their performance dynamics.

Modeling of an adsorption study of a synthesized hematite composite for the removal of lead and cadmium from contaminated water

The use of enormous nanomaterials with enhanced functionality, and improved structural morphology is thought of this era for water pollution treatment. Loaded nanomaterials using different low-cost and wasted biomass could be synthesized for efficient functional properties. .Nanostructures with different structures and morphology have been prepared with efficiency to handle single and multi-component aqueous solutions. Iron oxide-loaded rice husk biochar, named hematite nanomaterial (HLRHBC) was used for lead and cadmium removal and its surface removal capacity was compared with raw rice husk (RH) and rice husk biochar (RHBC) adsorbents. Biochar was obtained by pre-pyrolysis at 400-500 °C and nanocomposite was then prepared by loading on biochar surface. The 89.45% removal efficiency was obtained for lead remediation by nanomaterial and 89.3%, and 88.3% by rice husk biochar and raw form of rice husk respectively. For cadmium adsorption 73.4%, 70.6% and 54.76% were removal efficiency for nanomaterials, rice husk biochar, and rice husk respectively. Isothermal calculations were applied to experimental data and it revealed favorable adsorption results by Freundlich, Dubinin–Radushkevich, and Temkin isotherms as indicated by their R 2 values approaching near 1, efficient adsorption capacity values and constant calculations within favorable approach revealed nanomaterial suitable for adsorption purposes. Error analysis favored nanomaterial adsorption results by limiting value to small error results. Kinetic calculations revealed maximum Qe (mg/g) value 22.57 ± 0.013 mg/g in case of lead adsorption and 22.93 ± 0.013 mg/g for cadmium adsorption HLRHBC. Kinetic and thermodynamic calculations proved spontaneous physicochemical sorption experiments. Desorption experiments separated metal and adsorbent for recovery and reuse of nanomaterial. Hematite biomass composite was found efficient and novel sorbent for lead and cadmium uptake and recovery.

Hydrogen Production and Li-Ion Battery Performance with MoS2-SiNWs-SWNTs@ZnONPs Nanocomposites.

This study explores the hydrogen generation potential via water-splitting reactions under UV-vis radiation by using a synergistic assembly of ZnO nanoparticles integrated with MoS2, single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs), and crystalline silicon nanowires (SiNWs) to create the MoS2-SiNWs-SWNTs@ZnONPs nanocomposites. A comparative analysis of MoS2 synthesized through chemical and physical exfoliation methods revealed that the chemically exfoliated MoS2 exhibited superior performance, thereby being selected for all subsequent measurements. The nanostructured materials demonstrated exceptional surface characteristics, with specific surface areas exceeding 300 m2 g-1. Notably, the hydrogen production rate achieved by a composite comprising 5% MoS2, 1.7% SiNWs, and 13.3% SWNTs at an 80% ZnONPs base was approximately 3909 µmol h-1g-1 under 500 nm wavelength radiation, marking a significant improvement of over 40-fold relative to pristine ZnONPs. This enhancement underscores the remarkable photocatalytic efficiency of the composites, maintaining high hydrogen production rates above 1500 µmol h-1g-1 even under radiation wavelengths exceeding 600 nm. Furthermore, the potential of these composites for energy storage and conversion applications, specifically within rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, was investigated. Composites, similar to those utilized for hydrogen production but excluding ZnONPs to address its limited theoretical capacity and electrical conductivity, were developed. The focus was on utilizing MoS2, SiNWs, and SWNTs as anode materials for Li-ion batteries. This strategic combination significantly improved the electronic conductivity and mechanical stability of the composite. Specifically, the composite with 56% MoS2, 24% SiNWs, and 20% SWNTs offered remarkable cyclic performance with high specific capacity values, achieving a complete stability of 1000 mA h g-1 after 100 cycles at 1 A g-1. These results illuminate the dual utility of the composites, not only as innovative catalysts for hydrogen production but also as advanced materials for energy storage technologies, showcasing their potential in contributing to sustainable energy solutions.

Study of the magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of amorphous alloys formed by the [formula omitted] series

In this work, we investigate the magnetic and thermodynamic properties and the magnetocaloric effect of amorphous alloys formed from the series ErxFe100−x. To calculate the quantities on which the study is based, we use a Hamiltonian of interacting spins with two magnetic sublattices treated by the HPZ model, a modified Heisenberg Hamiltonian, in which each ionic spin is subject to a local anisotropy field of random orientation. The amorphous alloys studied present ferrimagnetic phase transitions, explained by the magnetic matrix composed of Er and Fe atoms. As a consequence, depending on the Fe doping, compensation temperatures, and inverse magnetocaloric effects are observed. Considerable values of refrigerant capacity in units of J kg−1 under the variation of 5 T of the applied magnetic field were found: 364, 380, 349, 291, and 237 for x=8.5,10,16.5,21.5 and 28, respectively.

Effect of Nature and Charge of Counterions and Co-Ions on Electrotransport Properties of Heterogeneous Anion Exchange Membranes

A comprehensive characterization of heterogeneous anion exchange MA-40 and MA-41 membranes, differing in the nature of functional groups and the exchange capacity (3.32 and 1.41 mmol/gdry, respectively), was carried out. The MA-40 membrane contains low basic secondary and tertiary amino groups, while the MA-41 membrane contains predominantly quaternary ammonium bases. Concentration dependences of conductivity and diffusion permeability, current-voltage curves were obtained, and the transport and structural parameters of a microheterogeneous model of membrane in solutions of different natures (salts and acids) containing singly and doubly charged cations and anions (sodium and calcium chlorides, sodium sulfate and sulfuric acid). The influence of counter- and co-ions on the electrical transport properties of the studied membranes was revealed and it was shown that changes in their properties are determined not only by the nature of the electrolyte, but also by the value of the exchange capacity of the samples, as well as the nature of their functional groups.

On Constrained Minimum Weight Edge Covers With Applications to Emergency Planning

ABSTRACTIn this paper we present a new covering problem, called Min Cost ‐Single Location Cover, where we are given a fixed positive integer , a finite ground set , an integral positive demand for each element , a collection of subsets of , an integral positive cost and an integral positive capacity value for each subset . The task is to choose sets from , with multiple choices being allowed, such that each element is covered at least times. However, if a given subset is chosen to cover an element, it must already cover the entire demand of the element. Moreover, each subset may only cover up to of its elements, where again multiple choices are allowed. Our problem is motivated by a healthcare application for placing emergency doctors into facilities such that all emergencies occurring in a shift can be handled in a satisfactory manner. We show that Min Cost ‐Single Location Cover can be solved in polynomial time for , but is strongly NP‐complete for . To handle the case where equals two, we introduce a new constrained ‐edge cover problem in an edge‐colored graph, called Minimum Weight ‐Edge Cover with Colors. We analyze the complexity of this problem for general graphs as well as for the special instances resulting from an instance of ‐Single Location Cover.

Enhancing indoor air quality and cardiopulmonary health in patients with asthma by photocatalytic oxidation and filters air cleaner

BackgroundAir purifiers can enhance indoor air quality and health outcomes, and studies have primarily focused on filters and particulate matter (PM) in households. Photocatalytic oxidation (PCO) is a promising technique for eliminating gaseous pollutants and bioaerosols. However, no field study was conducted in household. Therefore, this study evaluated the effects of the PCO and PCO + filters intervention on indoor air pollutants and cardiopulmonary endpoints in households. MethodsA randomized, double-blind crossover clinical trial was conducted. Indoor air pollutants, including PM, bioaerosols, and gaseous pollutants and cardiopulmonary endpoints including lung function, fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO), respiratory symptoms, and blood pressure were assessed before and after intervention. FindingsThis was the first study to evaluate the effects of PCO and PCO + filters interventions on indoor air pollutants and cardiopulmonary health in households. Indoor total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) and sulfur dioxides (SO2) significantly reduced after PCO intervention, however, we also observed the significant reduction in percentage of predicted values of forced vital capacity (FVC%) and forced expiratory volume in 3 s (FEV3%) and increased in FeNO after 13 days of PCO intervention. The PCO + filters intervention significantly reduced the levels of indoor PM1, PM2.5, PM4, PM10, total suspended particulate matter, ultrafine particles, airborne bacteria, fungi, endotoxin, mites, TVOC, nitrogen dioxide, and SO2, and marginal reduction in carbon monoxide. However, indoor carbon dioxide significantly increased after PCO/PCO + filters intervention. As for cardiopulmonary health, FVC%, and FEV1 % marginally increased 7 days after the PCO + filters intervention.

Energy Metabolite, Immunity, Antioxidant Capacity, and Rumen Microbiota Differences Between Ewes in Late Gestation Carrying Single, Twin, and Triplet Fetuses.

The objective of this study was to investigate the differences in the energy metabolites, immunity, antioxidant capacity, and rumen microbiota of ewes with different numbers of fetuses. Thirty healthy ewes were selected and divided into single- (SL, n = 10), twin- (TL, n = 10), and triplet-fetal (PL, n = 10) ewes according to the number of fetuses. Sampling was carried out on days 21 (Q21) and 7 (Q7) before lambing. The results show no differences (p > 0.05) in the DMI and BW of ewes with different numbers of fetuses, and the body condition score (BCS) of PL ewes was lower (p < 0.05) than that of SL ewes. The concentrations of β-hydroxybutyric acid (BHBA), non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA), interleukin-2 (IL-2), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) in the PL ewes were higher (p < 0.05), while the glucose (Glu), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) values were lower (p < 0.05) than those of the SL ewes. ANOSIM analysis showed that the rumen bacterial structure of the SL, TL, and PL ewes was different on days Q21 and Q7. The relative abundance of Firmicutes and Bacteroidota in the rumen was affected (p < 0.05) by the number of fetuses: the relative abundance of Firmicutes (Ruminococcus, Butyrivibrio, Christensenellaceae_R-7_group, Lachnospiraceae_AC2044_group, Lachnospiraceae_XPB1014_group, and Anaeroplasma) was higher (p < 0.05), while that of Bacteroidota (Prevotella, Prevotellaceae_UCG-003, and Prevotellaceae_UCG-001) was lower (p < 0.05) in the SL ewes than in the PL ewes. In summary, the rumen microbial structure and energy metabolites of ewes in late gestation with different numbers of fetuses were different. Triplet-fetal ewes were characterized by lower BCS and antioxidant capacity and were prone to the triggering of inflammatory responses.

An Assessment of the Bearing Capacity of High-Strength-Concrete-Filled Steel Tubular Columns Through Finite Element Analysis

This work aimed to evaluate the accuracy of analytical models for predicting the behavior of concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) columns via finite element analysis coupled with physical nonlinearity. The methodology involved an extensive review of experimental tests from the literature, numerical modeling of columns with different configurations, and a comparison of the results obtained with available experimental data. Several characteristics were evaluated, such as the load capacity, confinement factor, and relative slenderness. The numerical model agreed well with the experimental results, with a less than 10% relative error. The results indicated that analytical models of the Chinese (GB 50936) and European (EC4) codes overestimated some load capacity values (up to 14.9% and 8.7%, respectively). In comparison, the American (AISC 360) and Brazilian (NBR 8800) standards underestimated the ultimate loads (23.3% and 31.6%, respectively). An approach coefficient β is proposed, contributing to safer and more efficient design practices in structural engineering.

Thermodynamic evaluation of intermolecular interaction selectivity in separation of binary mixtures based on the activity coefficients at infinite dilution

Thermodynamic evaluation of deep eutectic solvents in separation of binary mixtures is increasing, and this is due to an easy preparation of deep eutectic solvents and their properties can be altered by different combinations of hydrogen bond acceptor to hydrogen bond donor. This study presents the intermolecular interactions between the prepared deep eutectic solvent with volatile organic solvents at different temperatures, T = (313.15 – 353.15) K and at atmospheric pressure. The investigated solvents were prepared by the combination of tetrabutylammonium acetate as hydrogen bond acceptor and ethylene glycol or diethylene glycol as hydrogen bond donor at a molar ratio of 1:3, respectively. The influence of hydrogen bond donor in separation of binary mixtures was evaluated and discussed. The intermolecular interactions of the prepared deep eutectic solvents with volatile organic solvents were evaluated based on the activity coefficients at infinite dilution values measured by the use of gas liquid chromatography. Excess thermodynamic properties at infinite dilution including excess enthalpies, Gibbs free energies and entropies were computed to further elucidate the interactions between the systems. Selectivity and capacity values were calculated to determine the feasibility of the solvents in separating industrial binary mixtures. The solvents were found promising for the separation of close boiling point mixtures comprising alcohols.

Matching Clinical Profiles with Interventions to Optimize Daily Stepping in People with Stroke.

Individualizing interventions is imperative to optimize physical activity in people with chronic stroke. This secondary analysis grouped individuals with chronic stroke into clinical profiles based on baseline characteristics and examined if these clinical profiles preferentially benefitted from a specific rehabilitation intervention to improve daily step-activity. Participants had non-cerebellar strokes ≥6 months prior to enrollment, were 21-85 years old, had walking speeds of 0.3-1.0 m/s, and took <8,000 steps-per-day. Participants were randomized to 1 of 3 interventions: high-intensity treadmill training (FAST), a step-activity behavioral intervention (SAM), or a combined intervention (FAST+SAM). The primary outcome was the interaction of latent class (clinical profile) and intervention group (FAST, SAM, FAST+SAM) on a change in steps-per-day. Key clinical characteristics to identify the latent classes included walking speed, walking endurance, balance self-efficacy, cognition, and area deprivation. Of the 190 participants with complete pre- and post-intervention data (mean [SD] age, 64 [12] years; 93 females [48.9%]), 3 distinct profiles of people with chronic stroke were identified. Within our sample, class 1 had the lowest walking capacity (speed and endurance), lowest balance self-efficacy, and highest area deprivation, and had the greatest change in step-activity when enrolled in the SAM (mean[95%CI], 1624 [426 - 2821]) or FAST+SAM (1150 [723 - 1577]) intervention. Class 2 had walking capacity, baseline steps-per-day, and self-efficacy values between Class 1 and 3, and had the greatest change in step-activity when enrolled in the SAM (2002 [1193-2811]) intervention. Class 3 had the highest walking capacity, highest self-efficacy, and lowest area deprivation and the greatest change in step-activity when enrolled in the FAST+SAM (1532 [915-2150]) intervention. People with chronic stroke require different interventions to optimize a change in step-activity. Clinicians can use clinically relevant measures to personalize intervention selection to augment step-activity in people with chronic stroke. The prognostic value of cystography-measured bladder capacity on very early continence rates after radical prostatectomy.

To assess the utility and reliability of cost-effective cystography-measured bladder capacity as a prognostic tool for predicting very early continence recovery following radical prostatectomy. Additionally, the study aims to discuss the clinical implications of the findings, including their potential impact on patient management, postoperative rehabilitation strategies, and the development of personalized care pathways for prostate cancer patients. In this prospective monocentric study, we analyzed 223 patients who underwent either robot assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) or open radical prostatectomy (ORP) between January 2022 and January 2024. Postoperative cystography was routinely performed 5 days after robot-assisted radical prostatectomy and 7 days after open radical prostatectomy. Very early continence rates were determined using a standardized pad-test conducted on the first day following catheter removal. The bladder capacity during cystography was measured and documented for every patient. The correlation between the rate of continence recovery and the bladder capacity was then assessed. To determine other predictive factors for recovery of continence, several parameters were analyzed using multivariate logistic regression analysis, including age, prostate volume, nerve-sparing technique and surgical procedure. Urinary continence rates at day 1 after catheter removal were 73.5% for patients who underwent RARP and 72.6% for patients who underwent ORP. A strong prognostic value of cystography-measured bladder capacity on very early continence rates was reported (p < 0.001), with a cut-off value calculated to be 140 ml of bladder capacity. After adjusting for additional variables such as age, surgical procedure, prostate volume and nerve-sparing technique, multivariate linear model analysis still found a strong correlation between cystography-measured bladder capacity and very early continence rates (p < 0.001). The cystography-measured bladder capacity may be a good predictor of the recovery of post-prostatectomy urinary continence.
