Alfred Robinson and Ferdinand Deppe

In 1831, Alfred Robinson and Ferdinand Deppe created three of the earliest iconic and idealized artistic renderings of Mission San Gabriel. Though previous artists portrayed the mission building itself as prosaic and unpolished, Robinson and Deppe centered it as a pristine and dominating feature of the natural landscape, laying the foundation for later visual renderings of California’s Spanish Fantasy Past. Robinson’s and Deppe’s privileged positions in their own societies gave them the ability to influence intellectual and political discourse through their institutional and business connections. Their art evinces intersections between trade, secularization, imperialism, and public memory, making them worthy of our scrutiny and reexamination.

Tourism for Economic Prosperity in Gandaki Province of Nepal

Tourism is a multidimensional mega industry interconnected with hospitality services and facilities. It generates assorted business connectivity with transportation, accommodation, food and beverage, entertainment, nature, culture and adventure business and facilities. Obviously, tourism has some significant implications over the local economy at community as well as destination level. However, the variance of tourism impacts on various districts and provinces of Nepal mainly depends on the availability and abundance of tourism products, activities and the level of hospitality practices of the destinations. This study, therefore, is an attempt to analyze the potentiality of tourism as an opportunity for economic prosperity in Gandaki Province of Nepal based on the economic contributions of major tourism components of the province. The trend of visitors’ flow, people’s involvement in tourism as entrepreneurs, volume of revenue generation and the number of employment creation are major variants of analysis for this paper. The paper is based on qual-quan method of analysis with partial use of secondary date published from tourism related authorities and organizations whereas a focus group discussion of the leaders of tourism entrepreneurs’ associations and the representations of concerned authorities is the major source of primary information. The study has come up with the finding that there is a huge potentiality of tourism development and an ample opportunity for economic prosperity via tourism in Gandaki province and hence suggested to incorporate tourism in the plans and policies of the province as a crux of development mainly through the involvement of local community, enhancement of village tourism and promotion of adventure tourism activities and products in the province.

DEVELOPMENT OF COOPERATION IN PROMISING AREAS OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE

For the development of the agro-industrial complex of Kyrgyzstan and the implementation of all its tasks, it is necessary to improve the quality of vocational education, train specialists who meet international standards and are in demand on the labor market, therefore, students and postgraduates should be involved in scientific work. It is scientific activity and achievements in this field that determine the quality of bachelor's or master's degree training, and make it possible to identify bright and talented students and young scientists. No innovative pedagogical technology will be effective enough without the connection of education, science, business and production. This chain should not be interrupted.

Designing an efficient set-aside policy for advancing human rights goals through public procurement

Set-aside policy is one of the mechanisms in public procurement adopted for implementing social goals of the State. Set-asides refer to the arrangement of keeping a fraction of the procurement volume, also termed the quantum of set-aside, reserved for vendors of a targeted group. The targeted group can either be a traditionally disadvantaged group that merits government support or, alternatively, a group that complies with certain desirable practices in its operations.Government has at its disposal many design choices like the fraction of procurement quantity to be reserved for the targeted group etc, that it can adjust to maximise the desired social benefits that accrue. However, there is little insight into how these choices are made, and to what extent, they can impact the ultimate outcome. This paper seeks to address this gap by developing an economic model for set-aside policy and carrying out a game theoretic analysis to identify the economic incentives to vendors arising out of set aside benefits that can drive a change in their operations.The insights from this economic model are then used to understand how government policy choices can impact these incentives and thereby the level of change that the policy can bring about. The paper focusses on the specific case where set-asides are proposed to be used for promoting human rights goals. This allows the researcher to suggest some practical measures that States can adopt for ensuring universal compliance of desired human rights standards by vendors using set-aside policy. This analysis also enables the researcher to quantify the connection between the State's “leverage” and its concomitant responsibility for promoting human rights in its business connections.

Scandinavian Saints in Middle Low German Disguise: Transregional Perspectives on a Late Medieval Printed Hagiographic Collection ‘Der Heiligen Leben’

ABSTRACT In 1492, a Lübeckian printer Stephan Arndes released an updated edition of a popular late medieval hagiographic collection Der Heiligen Leben in Middle Low German. From a few dozens of newly added legends, nine of them are about saints who were venerated only in Northern Germany and Scandinavia – or both. By adding these ‘Northern’ hagiographies, Arndes attempted to domesticate an otherwise rather universal collection – and not only among a Northern German but also a Scandinavian audience. By analysing these hagiographies, their possible Latin sources, and how Stephan Arndes got hold of these texts, the article shows that the edition in question is a testimony to transregional hagiographic knowledge transfer between Northern Germany and Scandinavia. Such an exchange was realized through specific editorial decisions, printing networks, and business connections, enabled by the wide usage of Middle Low German in the Nordic countries not only among foreign merchants but also locals, especially in legal and religious milieux. This case study of Stephan Arndes’ hagiographic print reveals that late medieval transregional devotional networks were bi-directional, unlike what is suggested by the centre-periphery paradigm, often applied when discussing medieval German influences on Scandinavian religious culture and institutions.

Synergistic Commutative Algorithm for Securing Vector Spatial Data via GD‐PBIBD Fingerprint Encoding and Data Encryption

ABSTRACTAs a fundamental component that supports business connectivity and enables intelligent decision‐making, vector spatial data encounter increasing copyright and security challenges throughout their lifecycle. There is an imminent need for a comprehensive lifecycle protection solution to ensure data security and adherence to copyright laws. This study introduces an integrated protection scheme designed to address copyright and security issues across the entire lifecycle of vector spatial data. First, DNA encryption is applied to the vector spatial data, with the key subsequently encrypted using the RSA public key. Concurrently, GD‐PBIBD fingerprint encoding is used to generate a fingerprint sequence. Thereafter, this sequence is scrambled using logistic mapping, and a quantization mechanism embeds the scrambled fingerprint sequence into the coordinates. Subsequently, the RSA private key is used to decrypt the key and extract the fingerprint information. Finally, logistic mapping is employed to restore the fingerprint sequence, and Hamming distance calculations are used to identify colluding users and trace potential data leaks. Experimental studies indicate that the proposed DNA encryption algorithm is effective for various types of vector spatial data, including point, polyline, and polygon data. It features a large key space and high key sensitivity. Furthermore, the GD‐PBIBD fingerprint encoding is simple to construct, offers excellent imperceptibility, and provides robust resistance to both single‐ and multi‐user attacks. This research addresses the gap in full lifecycle copyright and security protection for vector spatial data and offers a holistic solution for secure data circulation, thereby demonstrating significant practical value.

Research on the Differences of Business Culture Among Southeast Asian, South Asian and Chinese Enterprises

With the continuous development of global economic integration, the business connection between Southeast Asia, South Asia and China is increasingly close. However, there are some differences in the business culture of these regions, which are crucial for the successful conduct of business activities. The purpose of this paper is to study the differences between the business cultures of Southeast Asian, South Asian and Chinese enterprises, explore the impact of these differences on business cooperation, and put forward some suggestions for cross-cultural management.

This article investigates the necessary solutions to improve the quality of vocational training associated with social needs, especially green innovation in the goal of sustainable development. Methods of collecting documents, analyzing and synthesizing are applied throughout the article to deduce and find out solutions suitable to the conditions of vocational education in Vietnam. The results show that green training of human resources contributes to raising awareness of environmental protection, improving training quality, reducing labor waste and creating jobs for young people in appropriately trained occupations with business requirements. However, the participation of experts throughout the curriculum and practical support devices in business connection is needed to find practical value for the output. Executive Social Connection, Regional Digital Economy Development, and Enterprise Digital Transformation

Aiming at the research limitation concerning the insufficient exploration of executive social connections in enterprise digital transformation, our research objective is to investigate the influence of executive social connections, namely political and business connections, on enterprise digital transformation. Furthermore, it assesses the moderating effects of regional digital economy development on these relationships. An empirical analysis, encompassing 5407 observations from 868 listed firms between 2012 and 2021 in China, demonstrates that executive political and business connections significantly contribute to enterprise digital transformation both individually and synergistically. Specifically, political connections are found to be more relevant to enhancing enterprise digital transformation in regions with higher levels of digital economy development, while business connections exhibit a stronger correlation in regions with lower levels of digital economy development. Additionally, it is revealed that the synergistic effect of political and business connections is more relevant to enterprise digital transformation in regions with lower levels of digital economy development.

Competence vs. Independence: Auditors' connections with members of their clients’ business community

Prior research finds that auditors' social connections with their clients harms audit quality. We examine auditors' social connections with members of their clients' business community, a setting in which auditors' connections may improve audit quality. While social ties within a client's business community should improve auditor competency, they also threaten auditor independence. We test the effects of auditors' network connections on audit quality using data from China, where data on social connections and individual auditors are available. Auditors' business connections should be particularly beneficial in a relational economy like China, where clients heavily rely on social networks for contracting. We find that auditors with strong local business and government connections deliver higher quality audits as evidenced by fewer financial irregularities among their clients. Our findings are consistent with the improved competency that arises from auditors' business connections outweighing the potential costs of impaired auditor independence.

Enhancing 5G communication in business networks with an innovative secured narrowband IoT framework

Abstract These days, 5G mobile technology highly influences the wireless communication process, which is more responsive than the other generation. However, the 5G communication process handles the speed and latency issues while transmitting data over the network. Especially in rural areas, most people face this speed and latency problem while connecting to the network. Therefore, the network uses massive amounts of data to analyse this problem by integrating 5G with the Internet of things (IoT). The IoT-based data transmission and collection helps manage the data capacity, connection, and transmission rate. Therefore, this study uses the novel secured narrowband IoT framework for 5G communication and operational goals based on their position in the market. The 5G network uses business connectivity and access information to manage the data transmission. The network uses cellular bandwidth and IoT devices to connect more during this process. According to the connection, the information is transmitted with the minimum delay. Thus, experimental results have proposed these parameters: an accuracy ratio of 92.5%, a security ratio of 94.4%, a reliability ratio of 93.5%, a latency ratio of 91.8%, a cost-effective ratio of 20.5%, and a throughput ratio of 25.4% compared to other methods.

Sustainability of Nigeria’s Rail Transport System: An Economic Perspective

The availability of an efficient transport system is germane in achieving trade promotion, social integration, business connectivity and economic development because transport plays relevant role in the growth of nation’s market. Some scholars have given undeniable linkages to the role of rail transport in economic development while there are deferring summations by some scholars hence this study explored the economic sustainability of Nigeria’s rail transport system to contribute to the body of knowledge debating the economic sustainability of rail transport globally. Previous researches have also been done in Nigeria and internationally on the subject area using different approaches but this research used concurrent triangulation design to validate the formulated hypothesis that rail transport system has not significantly affected local economic development. This was validated using simple linear regression and key informant interview (KII). The theoretical lens for the study is the Rostow’s stages of economic growth. The result, [R2= .12, F (1, 172) = 24.31, p < .01] showed that rail transport has contributed significantly to the local economic development and the KII generally reinforce the empirical findings hence hypothesis is rejected. This study recommended the permitting of more vendors providing services at the terminal as this will lead to vibrant local economic development whilst improving the standard of living of residents and the adoption of a holistic economic sustainability policy be embraced by the managers of rail transport system in the country.

Role and Responsibilities of Customer Relationship Management in India: Features, Skills, Constituencies and Strategies

Customer Relationship Management (CMR) is a strategic approach aimed at strengthening relationships with customers while simultaneously cutting costs and improving productivity and profitability in company. CRM emerged in the early 1970s when businesses saw the need of shifting their focus from products to customers. The birth of CRM was a result of this attentive perception. Establishing and maintaining this kind of interaction with clients may be challenging and relies on the methodical and flexible implementation or integration of a CRM system. Once achieved, it is the most effective approach to handle consumers. Customers experience appreciation via self-satisfaction and loyalty, leading to stronger relationships with suppliers and ultimately boosting company. A CRM system is used for managing current clients and attracting new ones. The procedure begins with identifying a client and entering all relevant facts into the CRM system, commonly known as an ‘Opportunity of Business’. The Sales and Field staff strategically follow up with clients to turn them into successful deals. Customer connection Management techniques have provided a fresh perspective for suppliers and customers to maintain a strong business connection by meeting each other’s purchasing and selling requirements.

Developing and validating a scale for motivation in participating in time-bounded collaborative events

Time-bounded collaborative events bring together participants from different backgrounds to address a problem by creating a computational artifact over a short period of time (e.g., one or two days). Examples of these events include hackathons, game jams, codefests, ideathons, etc. Time-bounded events present minimal restrictions for participation, with hundreds of people attending an increasing number of events each year. There are different reasons why people decide to participate in time-bounded collaborative events. While several studies focused on studying the motivations to participate in these events, there is no consensus on how to measure this motivation. This paper aims to develop and validate a measure of motivation that addresses the participants’ willingness to attend a time-bounded collaborative event. The construction process of our scale used quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques. Our model of motivation is composed of a set of 20 questions that are grouped into five sub-constructs that measure different motivations: Technical, Personal Curiosity, Personal Ideation, Social Teamwork, and Business Connections. Our results show that our measure has internal reliability and convergent and discriminant validity. Our findings contribute to a broader understanding of the motivations for participating in time-bounded collaborative events and provide some implications for the research and practice of such events.

Perbandingan Regulasi Bank Digital di Indonesia dan Singapura

In digital banking, customers who are served digitally can be done starting from the business connection between the bank and the customer starting from opening an account, executing account transactions, to closing a deposit account which is carried out through the use of Information Technology. This of course makes it easier for customers because these activities can be done anywhere. Behind the convenience obtained from using digital banking services, there are also risks involved. Thus, the need for legal protection for customers who use digital banks is necessary to protect consumers from customers in banking services, because the law integrates and serves society. However, unfortunately the regulations regarding Digital Banks in Indonesia have not yet stood alone and are still being reviewed by the OJK. Therefore, so that the special regulations for digital banks in Indonesia can be of good use and not harm any party, references are needed from other countries that have issued legal regulations regarding digital banking to see the legal regulations for digital banks that have been previously implemented in that country so that they can become a reference for the process of making special regulations regarding banking in Indonesia. One country that has implemented special regulations regarding digital banking is Singapore. Based on these problems, in this journal the author will discuss the General and Systematic Overview of Legal Protection for Digital Bank Customers in Indonesia and the Comparison of Digital Bank Regulations in Indonesia and Digital Banks in Singapore for Customers.

Forms and conversions of the economic capital of Croatian entrepreneurs in the computer programming industry with insights into variations of the company's development stages

The paper examines traditional knowledge about the role of financial and physicalresources in entrepreneurship. Based on Bourdieu's theory, we search for an answer tothe question of which forms of economic capital are used by Croatian entrepreneurs inthe computer programming industry and what their value in the context of accessingother forms of capital is. The study is based on a qualitative methodological approach.In-depth interview technique accompanied by unstructured observations was used indata collection. In addition to primary data, research includes the use of qualitative andquantitative secondary data. Research suggests that in the computer programmingindustry, economic capital is just one tool in the conversion game of entrepreneurialcapital. Moreover, the interviewed entrepreneurs attach the least importance to it inbusiness, favoring the value of intangible resources such as specialized knowledge,business connections and personal acquaintances. The company's start-up phase ischaracterized by the entrepreneur's reliance on personal savings, which is replaced byfinancing based on retained earnings in the later stages of business. Other forms ofgrowth financing, such as bank loans and recapitalization of external investors, are usedby a minority of larger companies, with a good base of symbolic capital. The results oncapital conversions indicate relatively easy conversion of economic capital into culturalcapital and symbolic capital, and less frequent use of economic capital to create socialcapital. Fresh insights into the entrepreneurs' perceptions provided by the study expandexisting knowledge about entrepreneurship within the computer programming industry,suggesting that it is an industry with huge potential for young talents without a personalfinancial base that is commonly considered a precondition for enteringentrepreneurship.

中国和爱尔兰的经济文化交流研究

This paper discusses the economic and trade relations as well as cultural exchanges between China and Ireland, emphasizing their close cooperation, deepening mutual influence, and mutual benefit. The author conducted on-site investigations at the Confucius Institutes in Dublin, Cork, and Galway, highlighting the crucial role these institutes play in Sino-Irish cultural exchange and cooperation. The field research vividly demonstrates the valuable support that these Confucius Institutes provide in promoting friendly relations and cultural diversity, as well as facilitating academic collaboration, cultural exchange, and business connections. Advocating the concept of a shared human destiny beyond selfishness and protectionism represents our vision for the trajectory of human development. China and Ireland can collaborate further to strengthen their economic and trade relationships and cultural exchanges, working towards a more peaceful, inclusive, and prosperous world in the future.

Does B2B WOM usage matter to channel relationship performance? The roles of organizational culture and psychic distance

Word-of-mouth (WOM) in the business-to-business (B2B) context is of great interest to business managers and academic researchers. Firms often use B2B WOM not only choose products and services but also to select channel partners. Particulaly, exporting manufacturers tend to rely on face-to-face WOM from existing partners and business connections to select international channel partners. However, the literature provides contradictory findings on whether WOM usage for selecting international channel partners has a positive or negative impact on subsequent relationship outcomes. Therefore, the question of whether export manufacturers should use WOM in the selection of international channel partners remains unanswered. We aim to address this question by examining firms' internal and external factors (i.e., organizational culture and psychic distance, respectively). By analyzing survey data from Japanese exporting manufacturers, we show that WOM usage can have both positive and negative effects on relationship performance, depending on the firm's internal and external factors. Specifically, organizational culture (power distance and masculinity/femininity) and perceived psychic distance (people characteristics distance) influence the benefits of WOM usage. By indicating that WOM usage does not always lead to favorable outcomes, our study contributes to the research on B2B WOM management and international channel relationships.

Enhancing Digital Government: A Roadmap for Standardization, Coordination, and Collaboration

Digital government has become a global trend in recent years, with countries and regions around the world utilizing digital technology to transform their organizational structure and production methods. However, the development of digital government is not without its challenges. key issues are the lack of standardization and coordination in technical organization, which adversely affects the development of digital government. To address this issue, this paper recommends establishing a corresponding standard technical organization that will coordinate the work of digital government. organization will ensure that the development of digital government standardization work is consistent, effective, and up-to-date with the latest technology advances. In addition to improving standardization and coordination, this paper also emphasizes the importance of collaboration between different technical committees across industry management, public services, market supervision, and digital government-related standards organizations. By ensuring that business connections are orderly and effective, a joint force can be formed for digital government construction. Furthermore, a mechanism for evaluating and verifying digital government standards will be established to guarantee their successful implementation. The paper also highlights the importance of ensuring that the development of important standards is done well. This requires a comprehensive understanding of the needs of different stakeholders, including citizens, businesses, and government agencies. It also requires a commitment to continue us improvement and innovation, as digital technology continues to evolve at a rapid pace. Overall, this paper provides a roadmap for enhancing digital government through standardization, coordination, and collaboration. By following these recommendations, governments can ensure that their digital government initiatives are effective, efficient, and responsive to the needs of their citizens and businesses.
