Comparative antimicrobial efficacy of Metapex, Metronidazole, BioPure MTAD, Aztreonam on Bacteroides fragilis and Propionibacterium acne

Aim:The purpose of this study was to evaluate the comparative antibacterial efficacy of Biopure MTAD, Metapex, Metronidazole, and Aztreonam against two obligate anerobic bacteria.Materials and Methods:Antimicrobial efficacy of selected medicaments against two obligate anaerobic bacteria Bacteroides fragilis and Propionibacterium acnes was done by Agar disc-diffusion method. Pre-sterilized Whatman paper discs, 6 mm in diameter and soaked with the test solution, were prepared and placed onto the previously seeded agar Petri plates. Each plate was incubated in anaerobic jar for anerobic environment at 37°C for 48 hours. A zone of inhibition was recorded for each plate and the results were analysed statistically. Saline and ethanol used as control group in this study.Results:Biopure MTAD, Metapex and Metronidazole were effective against all the selected microorganisms. Aztreonam was effective against Bacteroides fragilis. Saline and ethanol used as control were ineffective.Conclusions:Metronidazole showed the superior antibacterial property amongst the tested medicaments.

Collagen-binding Streptococcal Surface Proteins Influence the Susceptibility of Biofilm Cells to Endodontic Antimicrobial Solutions

IntroductionPrevious studies have indicated that the antimicrobial efficacy of endodontic irrigants may be diminished in the presence of patient tissues and fluids. With Streptococcus gordonii as a model microorganism, we used a genetic approach to investigate the hypothesis that bacterial surface proteins with collagen-binding abilities may function to protect biofilm cells from antiseptics commonly used in root canal treatment. MethodsS. gordonii strain DL1 or isogenic mutant strains with deletions of genes encoding collagen-binding surface proteins were grown in microtiter plates to form 8-hour biofilms. Planktonic cells were aspirated, and the remaining biofilm cells were buffer-washed and then incubated with either pH-adjusted buffer or potentially protective solutions of type I collagen, serum, or saliva. Biofilms were rewashed, pulsed with sodium hypochlorite, chlorhexidine digluconate, or BioPure MTAD, and then rewashed. Fresh medium was added, and survivor cell growth was monitored for 24 hours. ResultsBuffer-treated biofilm cells of all 3 strains were similarly killed by sodium hypochlorite, chlorhexidine digluconate, and MTAD. Collagen, serum, and saliva significantly protected strain DL1 from all 3 antiseptics compared with buffer-treated cells (P ≤ .0004). However, preincubation with collagen, serum, or saliva left both mutant strain biofilms significantly more susceptible to all 3 antiseptics than were respectively treated strain DL1 biofilms (P ≤ .005). ConclusionsInteractions of S. gordonii surface proteins with collagen or similar components in serum and saliva may play roles in protecting biofilm cells from endodontic antiseptics. Elucidating molecular mechanisms underlying bacterial resistance to antimicrobials may facilitate the development of more effective treatments.

An In Vitro SEM Study on the Effectiveness of Smear Layer Removal of Four Different Irrigations.

The aim of this study was to compare the smear layer removal efficacies of 3% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl), 17% Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), SmearClear and BioPure MTAD using a common irrigation protocol. Fifty freshly extracted human single rooted maxillary and mandibular teeth were prepared by a ProTaper rotary system up to an apical preparation file size F3. Prepared teeth were randomly divided into five groups (n=10); distilled water (Group A; negative control), EDTA (Group B), SmearClear (Group C), BioPure MTAD (Group D) and NaOCl (Group E). After final irrigation with tested irrigants the teeth were decoronated, split into two halves longitudinally and observed under a scanning electron microscope (SEM) for removal of the smear layer. The SEM images were then analyzed for the amount of smear layer present using a three score system. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test and Mann-Whitney U test. Intergroup comparison of groups B, C, and D showed no statistical significant differences in the coronal and middle thirds, however, in the apical third the canal surfaces were cleaner in samples from group D (P<0.05). BioPure MTAD was the most effective agent for the purpose of smear layer removal in the apical third of the root canals.

Effects of Diode Laser and MTAD™ on the Push-Out Bond Strength of Mineral Trioxide Aggregate–Dentin Interface

The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effects of diode laser, MTAD(™) and laser plus MTAD on the push-out bond strength of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA)-dentin. MTA has been used widely, especially in root canal therapies (RCT); however, the effect of different final treatments during RCT has been questioned regarding the retention characteristic of this cement-based material. Forty single-rooted human teeth were prepared into dentin slices and drilled to form canal spaces. Samples were divided into four groups of 10 in each (n=10). In groups A and B, diode laser irradiations were performed, and then MTA was placed inside the canal spaces and incubated at 37 °C for 7 days. After incubation, dentin slices in groups B and C were immersed in Biopure MTAD, and the last group served as control without any treatment. The push-out bond strengths were then measured by using a universal testing machine. The means±standard deviations of push-out bond strength were 6.74±0.48, 5.95±0.40, 6.86±0.66, and 7.88±0.37 for groups A (laser), B (laser plus MTAD), C (MTAD) and D (control), respectively. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) test revealed significant differences among the groups (p<0.0001). Tukey's test did not show any significant difference between groups A and C (p=0.93). However, these differences were significant between groups A and B (p=0.006) and between groups B and C (p=0.001). The results of this study indicated that either diode laser or MTAD can lower the bond strength of MTA-dentin, and that diode laser irradiations plus MTAD might affect MTA bond to dentin negatively.

The Antibacterial Efficacy of Biopure MTAD in Root Canal Contaminated with Enterococcus faecalis

Aim. The purpose of this in vitro study was to assess the antimicrobial efficacy of Biopure MTAD against E. faecalis in contaminated root canals. Materials and Methods. Forty-two single rooted extracted human teeth were inoculated with E. faecalis and incubated for four weeks. The samples were divided in two control and five experimental groups irrigated with 1.5% sodium hypochlorite solution (NaOCl); 3% NaOCl; BioPure MTAD; 1.5% NaOCl/17% EDTA; or 3% NaOCl/17% EDTA. After a one-week incubation, complete disinfection was confirmed by the absence of turbidity in the incubation media. Dentin shavings were taken from samples with no turbidity to verify whether E. faecalis was present in dentin tubules. Results were analyzed statistically using Fisher's exact test, with the level of significance set at P < 0.05. Results. Statistical analysis of the data obtained at Day 7 and after dentin shaving analysis showed that BioPure MTAD had significantly greater antibacterial activity than 1.5% NaOCl, 1.5% NaOCl/17% EDTA and 3% NaOCl/17% EDTA. No significant difference was detected between MTAD and 3% NaOCl. Conclusions. These findings suggest that BioPure MTAD possesses superior bactericidal activity compared with NaOCl and EDTA against E. faecalis.

Antibacterial effectiveness of several irrigating solutions and the Endox Plus system – an ex vivo study

To compare the ex vivo antibacterial effectiveness of the Endox Plus system and sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) in combination with BioPure MTAD (Tulsa Dental, Tulsa, OK, USA) or with EDTA in Enterococcus faecalis-contaminated root canals. After initial preparation, the root canals of 70 single-rooted human teeth were inoculated with E. faecalis (ATCC 29212) and incubated for 21 days. Specimens were divided into five groups: Endox Plus/saline; 2.5% NaOCl/MTAD; 2.5% NaOCl/EDTA; saline (positive control); negative control (root canals not prepared, nor irrigated). Samples were collected using paper points. Microbiological analysis evaluated the number of CFUs. Data were analysed by anova and Tukey tests at 0.05 significance. All specimens had bacterial growth after the incubation period, with similar CFU per mL counts (P > 0.05). After chemo-mechanical preparation, the number of bacteria in all groups reduced, except for the negative control. No significant differences were observed between 2.5% NaOCl/MTAD and 2.5% NaOCl/EDTA, but these groups had lower CFU counts than the other groups (P < 0.05). In the final samples, an increase in the bacterial counts was observed for Endox Plus/saline, 2.5% NaOCl/MTAD, 2.5% NaOCl/EDTA and saline (P < 0.05) with no significant differences between these groups. This ex vivo study revealed that the Endox Plus system was associated with a reduced antibacterial effectiveness compared with conventional irrigation using 2.5% NaOCl/MTAD and 2.5% NaOCl/EDTA. All irrigation procedures allowed recovery of bacteria 7 days after treatment, demonstrating persistence of contamination within the root canal system.

Comparison of the Effect of Four Decalcifying Agents Combined with 60°C 3% Sodium Hypochlorite on Smear Layer Removal

IntroductionThe objective of this study was to compare the efficacy on smear layer removal of 4 decalcifying agents: 17% ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), 20% citric acid, BioPure MTAD, and SmearClear. MethodsForty-five single-rooted human teeth were used and prepared up to ProTaper F3. After each instrumentation, 1 mL of 3% NaOCl at 60°C was irrigated for 1 minute. All the samples were randomly divided into 5 groups according to the final irrigants: 17% EDTA, 20% citric acid, BioPure MTAD, SmearClear, and 3% NaOCl (control). The smear layer removal of all groups at the apical, middle, and coronal thirds was observed under the thermal field emission scanning electron microscope. ResultsThe EDTA group was significantly more effective than the SmearClear and MTAD groups (P < .05). The efficacy of all three thirds in the EDTA, MTAD, and SmearClear groups can be arranged as coronal, middle, and apical thirds (P < .05) from excellent to poor. However, in the citric acid group, the coronal two thirds were significantly better than the apical third (P < .05), and there was no statistical significance between the coronal and middle thirds (P > .05). ConclusionsThe 4 decalcifying agents could effectively, but not completely, remove the smear layer, especially in the apical third. The efficacy of 17% EDTA was better than that of MTAD and SmearClear.

In vitro evaluation of effect of various endodontic solutions on selected physical properties of white mineral trioxide aggregate

During endodontic therapy various irrigating solutions at different concentrations and duration are used. These chemical solutions may affect the setting reaction of mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA). The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) (5.25%), chlorhexidine gluconate (CHX) (2%), ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) solution (17%) and BioPure MTAD on surface micro-hardness and flexural strength of white MTA. Twenty-five disk-shaped and 25 bar-shaped specimens were divided into five groups and were stored under distilled water, NaOCl (5.25%), chlorhexidine CHX (2%), EDTA solution (17%) and BioPure MTAD for 7 days. The micro-hardness of disk specimens was measured while the flexural strength was tested on bar specimens. EDTA and BioPure MTAD significantly reduced the hardness and flexural strength as compared with other groups. Under distilled water strength remained high; therefore, a final flush with distilled water before placement of MTA is advocated, especially if decalcifying agents are used during the clinical procedure.

Effect of various endodontic solutions on punch out strength of Resilon under cyclic loading

Background:Before obturation, various endodontic solutions are used as a final rinse. These solutions might affect the bond strength of Resilon-Epiphany system. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of NaOCl (5.25%), chlorhexidine CHX (2%), EDTA solution (17%), and BioPure MTAD on push out bond strength of Resilon-Epiphany system.Materials and Methods:Seventy-five human premolar roots were prepared and divided on the basis of final endodontic solution rinse. The canals were obturated with Resilon-Epiphany system. All samples were restored using a fiber post system and indirect composite crown. The samples received 150 000 cycles of mechanical loading. Push out bond strength was performed in the apical third of root having Resilon obturation.Results and Conclusions:Different endodontic solutions tested, did not affected the push out bond strength of Resilon-Epiphany obturation system.

The Effect of QMix, an Experimental Antibacterial Root Canal Irrigant, on Removal of Canal Wall Smear Layer and Debris

Introduction This study examined the ability of two versions of QMix, an experimental antimicrobial irrigant, on removal of canal wall smear layers and debris using an open canal design. Methods Cleaned and shaped single-rooted human root canals were irrigated with NaOCl as the initial irrigant and one of the following as the final irrigant: (1) QMix I (pH = 8), (2) QMix II (pH = 7.5), (3) distilled water, (4) 17% EDTA, and (5) BioPure MTAD (Dentsply Tulsa Dental Specialties, Tulsa, OK). Smear and debris scores were evaluated in the coronal, middle, and apical thirds of longitudinally fractured canal spaces using scanning electron microscopy and analyzed using Cochran-Mantel-Haenszel statistic. Results Smear scores, when the overall canal was considered, differences were observed among groups except groups 1 versus 4 and groups 2 versus 4. After adjusting for canal levels, all groups differed significantly from each other ( p < 0.005) with the exception of groups 2 versus 5. For the debris scores, no significant difference was observed among the treatment groups when the overall canal was considered and after adjusting for the effect of canal level. Conclusion Within the limitations of an open-canal design, the two experimental QMix versions are as effective as 17% EDTA in removing canal wall smear layers after the use of 5.25% NaOCl as the initial rinse.

Comparative Evaluation of Antimicrobial Efficacy of MTAD, 3% NaOCI and Propolis Against E Faecalis.

AimThe present study sought to compare the antimicrobial efficacy of 3% NaOCl, Biopure MTAD (Tulsa Dentsply, Tulsa, OK) and Brazilian ethanolic extract of propolis (EEP) against Enterococcus faecalis (E. faecalis).MethodologyThe study utilized 55 extracted human permanent teeth with single root canal. The samples were decoronated, instrumented and sterilized. The teeth were infected with E faecalis for 48 hours. The teeth were divided randomly into 3 groups according to the irrigants used and kept in contact with the respective irrigant for 5 minutes. All the samples were incubated in brain heart infusion (BHI) broth for 96 hours. Disinfection of the samples was determined based on presence or absence of turbidity in the BHI broth 96 hours later. Statistical analysis was done using Chi-square test.ResultsAll the samples treated with MTAD showed complete absence of turbidity, while all the 15 teeth treated with propolis showed presence of turbidity, 8 out of 15 teeth treated with NaOCl showed presence of turbidity. Statistical analysis of the data using chi-square test showed significant difference between the groups (P < 0.05).ConclusionThe study concluded that MTAD was more effective than 3% NaOCl and propolis against E. faecalis.

An In Vitro Comparison of Quantitative Dissolution of Human Pulp in Different Irrigating Solutions

ABSTRACTPulp tissue from freshly extracted, intact vital premolars was removed in toto and was cut to get an approximate weight of 8.2 mg for each sample. Eighty samples thus obtained were divided into 4 groups of 20 samples each according to the irrigating solution used (5.25% NaOCl, 17% EDTA, BioPure MTAD and Distilled water (control group). Pulp tissue of specified equal weight (8.2 mg) was placed into each test tube of all groups carrying irrigants of measured volume (5ml each) at 37°C according to their specified subgroups time interval i.e. 10 min, 15 min, 20 min and 30 min respectively. The solution from each sample test tube was filtered and was left for overnight drying. The residual weight was calculated by filtration method. Results showed that the maximum amount of pulp was dissolved by 5.25% NaOCl at all time intervals. MTAD and 17% EDTA showed almost similar dissolution at all the time intervals.

Biopure MTAD Induces DNA Damage but Not Cellular Death: An In Vitro Study

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the capacity of BioPure MTAD to induce genetic damage in vitro. Genotoxicity was assessed by the single cell gel (comet) assay. Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cells or murine fibroblasts cells were exposed to increasing final concentrations ranging from 0.1 a 10%. All treatments were performed for 1 hour at 37 degrees C. The negative control group was treated with vehicle control (phosphate buffer solution - PBS) for 1 hour at 37 degrees C and the positive control group was treated with methylmetanesulfonate (at 1 muM) for 1 hour at 37 degrees C. Present results showed that the BioPure MTAD was able to promote DNA breakage in CHO cells only at the highest concentration tested as well as to induce significant increase in tail moment at all tested concentrations in murine fibroblasts. In summary, our results indicate that BioPure MTAD is a genotoxic agent as depicted by the single cell gel (comet) assay. (Eur J Dent 2009;3:285-289).

Antibacterial Efficacy of MTAD Final Rinse and Two Percent Chlorhexidine Gel Medication in Teeth with Apical Periodontitis: A Randomized Double-blinded Clinical Trial

Introduction Clinical assessment of the efficacy of novel root canal disinfection protocols is an important focus in endodontic research. This randomized double-blinded study assessed the antibacterial efficacy of a final rinse with BioPure MTAD (MTAD) and intracanal medication with 2% chlorhexidine gel (CHX) in teeth with apical periodontitis. Methods Canals in 30 teeth (single-rooted and multi-rooted) were prepared by using 1.3% NaOCl, rinsed with MTAD or saline in random sequence, medicated with CHX for 7 days, irrigated with 1.3% NaOCl, and filled. Bacteriologic root canal samples were obtained by aspiration before (1A) and after (1B) canal preparation, after the final rinse (1C), after CHX was flushed (2A), and after final irrigation (2B). Bacteria were enumerated by epifluorescence-microscopy (EFM) by using 2 staining methods and by colony-forming-unit (CFU) counts after 14 days of incubation. Results Bacterial counts (EFM) in 1B were greater than 95% decreased from 1A. Low bacterial densities in 1B, 1C, 2A, and 2B did not differ significantly from each other. EFM counts were consistently higher than CFU counts. Conclusions The final rinse with MTAD and medication with CHX did not reduce bacterial counts beyond levels achieved by canal preparation with NaOCl.

The Effect of Endodontic Irrigants on the Microtensile Bond Strength of Dentin Adhesives

Introduction The purpose of this study was to evaluate the microtensile bond strength of a total etch (XP-Bond) and a self-etch (Clearfil SE Bond) adhesive system to dentine surfaces treated using endodontic irrigants. Methods Twenty-four freshly extracted third molars were used. After creating a smear layer on the coronal midthird portion of the crowns, the teeth were divided into three groups and surfaces were irrigated with distilled water, 5.25% NaOCl + 17% EDTA, and 1.3% NaOCl + BioPure MTAD, respectively. Each group was divided into two subgroups, and a self-etching adhesive and an etch-and-rinse adhesive were applied respectively. The teeth were restored with a composite material and sectioned to produce sticks for microtensile bond testing. Results The microtensile bond strength of the MTAD + Clearfil SE group was found to be significantly lower than the microtensile bond strength of the distilled water + Clearfil SE Bond group and the NaOCl, EDTA, + Clearfil SE Bond group (p = 0.0001, p = 0.009). Conclusions Because of the significant reduction of Clearfil SE Bond to coronal dentine after MTAD application, an etch-and rinse adhesive such as XP-Bond may be preferred if this irrigant has been chosen during endodontic treatment.

A Comparative Study of Smear Layer Removal and Erosion in Apical Intraradicular Dentine With Three Irrigating Solutions: A Scanning Electron Microscopy Evaluation

Introduction This study compared the efficacy of BioPure MTAD (Dentsply Tulsa, Tulsa, OK), 17% EDTA, and 42% citric acid in endodontic smear layer removal and degree of erosion in the apical third of endodontic canals. Methods Ninety-six extracted single-rooted human teeth were randomized into four groups ( n = 24) and instrumented using System GT nickel-titanium rotary instruments (Dentsply Tulsa, Tulsa, OK). Each canal was irrigated with one of the following solutions: BioPure MTAD, 17% EDTA, 42% citric acid, or 5.25% NaOCl (control). Next, all specimens were irrigated with 5.25% NaOCl. Results Evaluation by scanning electron microscopy showed no significant differences among test irrigants in removing the smear layer. However, the efficacy of BioPure MTAD and 17% EDTA in removing the smear layer was significantly greater than 5.25% NaOCl (control). The erosive effects of irrigating solutions could not be evaluated. Conclusions In conclusion, the protocols used in this study were not sufficient to completely remove the smear layer in the apical third of prepared root canals.

Efficacy of MTAD, Glyde and EDTA in debridement of curved root canals.

This study aimed to compare the efficacy of MTAD, Glyde and EDTA in removing the post-preparation smear layer and debris produced in apical third of curved molar root canals. Forty extracted human maxillary first molars with curved mesiobuccal canals (30˚-35˚), similar root lengths and morphologies were divided into 3 experimental groups (n=12) and one control group (n=4). Canals were prepared by RaCe rotary files and were treated with the following materials between each two files: Group A (control group); 5 mL of distilled water, Group B; 1 mL of 17% ethylenediamine tetra-acetic acid (EDTA) for 1 min, Group C; BioPure(TM) MTAD (according to the manufacturer's instruction; 5mL for 5 min), and Group D; Glyde File Prep alternated with sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) between each two files. Debridement of the apical third was evaluated using scanning electron microscope (SEM) (×5000). The data were statistically analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests (P<0.05). Statistical analysis of the data showed that MTAD and 17% EDTA were effective in removing smear layer and debris from the apical thirds. MTAD was more effective than EDTA in smear layer removal. Glyde did not adequately debride curved root canals of molar teeth. MTAD and 17% EDTA were effective in debriding the apical third of curved molar root canals during endodontic treatment, whereas Glyde File Prep does not provide adequate debridement.

Does a final rinse to remove smear layer interfere on dentin permeability of root canals?

The objective of this study was to assess the influence of different final irrigating solutions on dentin permeability and smear layer removal using the same specimens and relate the results obtained. Forty anterior human teeth were instrumented and divided into 4 groups (n = 10) at the final rinse step, according to the irrigant used: G I (control) - 1% NaOCl; G II - 17% EDTA; G III - 17% EDTAT; and G IV - Biopure MTAD. The canals were filled with 0.5% methylene blue and maintained in bottles for 48 hours. The roots were transversally split in coronal, middle, and apical fragments. The specimens were photographed and analyzed regarding dye penetration. The fragments were then axially split and prepared for SEM. The photomicrographs were analyzed and qualified by scores. Only the EDTA-T group exhibited statistical difference in which the apical third had less dentin permeability (P < .05). When a decalcifying agent was used, smear layer was removed, which did not happen in the NaOCl group. Regarding smear layer removal, differences were found only in the EDTA group in which the apical third presented more smear layer (P < .05). No correlation was found for both studies (r = 0.4207). There was not an even relationship between the results from both studies, which inferes that higher or lower dentinal permeability does not necessarily correspond to a higher or lower amount of smear layer. The analysis of dentin permeability and smear layer removal was shown to be a feasible procedure using the same specimens.

“Evaluation of the effect of EDTA, EDTAC, RC-Prep and BioPure MTAD on the microhardness of root canal dentine-An in vitro study”

Aim: To determine the effect of Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA), Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid plus Cetavlon (EDTAC) solutions, RC-Prep and a Mixture of tetracycline isomer/ an acid / a detergent (Biopure MTAD) on the Coronal, Middle and Apical root canal dentine. Materials and Methods: Twenty intact freshly extracted single rooted maxillary and mandibular anterior human teeth were taken and stored in physiological saline solution until used.. The teeth were sectioned longitudinally by diamond abrasive disc, embedded in acrylic resin and polished with different grades of sand paper and finally with alumina suspension on felt cloth. 40 samples were divided in to four groups(n=10). Group I samples were treated with 17% EDTA for 1 minute, Group II samples were treated with EDTAC for 1 minute (n=10),Group III samples were treated with RC-Prep for 1 minute, Group IV samples were treated with BioPure MTAD for 2 minutes and 5 minutes respectively. Result: There was no statistically significant difference in the microhardness reduction in the coronal, middle and apical third of the root canal dentin when treated with 17% EDTA, EDTAC, RC-Prep and BioPure MTAD. Conclusion: In all the four groups, microhardness of the root canal dentin was reduced. BioPure MTAD was least effective in reducing the microhardness of root canal dentine and 17% EDTA had the maximum effect.

Comparison of antimicrobial efficacy of biopure MTAD and 2.5% sodium hypochlorite irrigation in infected root canals following single visit endodontics - An in vivo study

Aims and Objectives: To effectively clean the root canal system a disinfecting agent must penetrate difficult to reach areas and kill the microorganisms with minimal damage to the host tissues. The purpose of this in-vivo investigation was to evaluate the antimicrobial efficacy of irrigating solutions 2.5% Sodium Hypochlorite and BioPure MTAD in infected root canals following single visit endodontic procedure. Materials and Methods: Twenty single canal anterior and premolar teeth that had pulpal or periapical pathology were randomly divided in to two groups (n = 10). Group I cases were irrigated with 2.5% Sodium Hypochlorite only during biomechanical preparation, Group II cases were initially irrigated with 0.9% saline during the complete biomechanical preparation, 5 minute final irrigation was done with BioPure MTAD. Microbiological samples for culture were taken immediately after accessing the canal and following irrigation with test solutions. Conclusion: The results of this study conclude that the use of 2.5% Sodium Hypochlorite resulted in significantly greater reduction of anaerobic organisms when compared to BioPure MTAD.
