Solubility of ketoconazole in the binary mixtures of 2-propanol and water at different temperatures

In the present study, the solubility of ketoconazole is measured by a shake – flask method in the binary solvent mixtures of 2-propanol + water at different temperatures. The experimental solubility data are correlated/back-calculated by some cosolvency models i.e. van't Hoff, Yalkowsky, Jouyban-Acree, Jouyban-Acree-van't Hoff, the mixture response surface and the modified Wilson models. Moreover, the density of ketoconazole saturated solutions is fitted by Jouyban-Acree model and the obtained equation is reported. The accuracy of these models is investigated by calculation of the corresponding MRD%. The apparent thermodynamic parameters including dissolution standard enthalpy change (ΔH∘), standard entropy change (ΔS∘), Gibbs free energy change (ΔG∘) for ketoconazole dissolution are calculated by using van't Hoff and Gibbs equations. Moreover, the preferential solvation analysis demonstrates that ketoconazole is preferentially solvated by water in water-rich and in 2-propanol-rich mixtures, but preferentially solvated by 2-propanol in mixtures of composition 0.19 < x1 < 0.58.

Solubility of celecoxib in 1-propanol + water mixtures at T= (293.2–313.2) K: experimental data and thermodynamic analysis

ABSTRACTThe molar solubility of celecoxib (CXB) was measured in the binary mixtures of 1-propanol + water at temperatures ranging from 293.2 to 313.2 K. The obtained solubility data are mathematically represented by employing five cosolvency models (i.e. van’t Hoff equation, Yalkowsky–Roseman model, Jouyban–Acree model, Jouyban–Acree–van’t Hoff model and the modified Wilson model), and the mean relative deviations (MRD%) calculated for the back-calculated solubility data were 2.5%, 68.7%, 12.7%, 12.8% and 20.5%, respectively, for each investigated cosolvency model. The apparent dissolution enthalpy, entropy and Gibbs energy of CXB in these solvent mixtures were also computed based on the van’t Hoff and Gibbs equations.

Densities and Excess Molar Volumes for the Binary and Ternary Systems of (1,4-Dioxane, 1-Propanol or 2-Propanol, and 1,2-Dichloroethane) at T = (288.15 to 318.15) K. Experimental Measurements and Prigogine–Flory–Patterson Modeling

Densities, ρ, and molar excess volumes, VE, for binary and ternary systems of (1,4-dioxane, 1-propanol or 2-propanol, and 1,2-dichloroethane) were measured over the whole composition range, at T = [288.15, 298.15, 308.15, and 318.15] K, and atmospheric pressure. The density measurements were performed using an Anton Paar vibrating U-tube densimeter. The binary mixtures of 1-propanol or 2-propanol with 1,4-dioxane present positive VE values over the whole composition and working temperature ranges, whereas with 1,2-dichloroethane even negative VE values are observed at higher alcohol mole fraction and at lower temperature. The VE magnitude, for the alkanol containing binary mixtures, increases as the temperature increases and decreases for 1,4-dioxane + 1,2-dichloroethane. Volumetric properties for binary mixtures of ethyl acetate, vinyl acetate and tert-butyl acetate with 1-propanol and iso-butanol at T = (293.15–313.15) K and P = 0.087 MPa

Based on density measurement, we appraised and reported partial molar volumes and thermal expansion coefficients along with their excess values for six binary mixtures of 1-propanol or iso-butanol with vinyl, ethyl and tert-butyl acetate. Temperature range was (293.15–313.15) K and whole range of composition at ambient pressure (0.087MPa) is considered. Results showed that excess molar volumes for all mixtures are positive and increased with temperature. Also the excess thermal expansion coefficients were positive and demonstrate small positive sensitivity to temperature change. Results are explained based on intermolecular interactions and also Redlich–Kister equations were fitted to excess molar volume data.

A Study of Molecular Interaction in Binary Mixtures of 1-Propanol with N,N-Dimethylformamide at Different Temperatures

The static dielectric constant (ε0) and optical dielectric constant (ε = n2) of binary mixtures of 1-Propanol (1-PrOH) with N,N-Dimethylformamide (DMF) of different concentrations, prepared by volume fractions (0.0, 0.1, . 1.0) are measured at 2 MHz using precision LCR meter and Abbes refractometer respectively at different temperatures. The excess dielectric constant (ε0)E, Kirkwood correlation parameters (geff, gF), Bruggeman parameter (fB) are evaluated. The variations of these parameters with concentration and temperature are discussed in terms of molecular interaction between the molecular species of constituting components in these mixtures.

Solubility of 2-Hydroxybenzoic Acid in Water, 1-Propanol, 2-Propanol, and 2-Propanone at (298.2 to 338.2) K and Their Aqueous Binary Mixtures at 298.2 K

Solubility of 2-hydroxybenzoic acid (salicylic acid, with measured melting point of 432 K) in water, 1-propanol, 2-propanol, and 2-propanone was determined at (298.2 to 338.2) K and atmospheric pressure. Also, the solubility of salicylic acid in binary mixtures of 1-propanol (1) + water (2), 2-propanol (1) + water (2), and 2-propanone (1) + water (2) at 298.2 K and atmospheric pressure was investigated. Phase separation occurred in x1= 0.114, 0.167 of 1-propanol (1) + water (2) and x1= 0.171, 0.237 of 2-propanone (1) + water (2) mixtures. The van’t Hoff and Grant equations were used to correlate the solubility of salicylic acid in monosolvents at different temperatures. The solubility values of salicylic acid in binary mixtures of solvents were calculated using the Jouyban–Acree model (J. Chem. Eng. Data2009, 54, 1168–1170). Speeds of Sound and Isentropic Compressibilities in Binary Mixtures of 2-Propanol with Several 1-Alkanols at 298.15 K

Speeds of sound and densities of 2-propanol +1-propanol, 2-propanol + 1-butanol, 2-propanol + 1-octanol, and 2-propanol + 1-hexanol have been measured over the entire composition range at 298.15 K. Speeds of sound of the binary mixtures have also been estimated from free length theory (FLT), collision factor theory (CFT), and Nomoto’s relation (NR) and have been compared with experimental speeds of sound. The isentropic compressibilities, molar isentropic compressibilities, excess molar isentropic compressibilities, and excess speeds of sound have been calculated from experimental densities and speeds of sound. Temperature Dependence of the Volumetric Properties of Binary Mixtures Containing Polyethers and 1-Propanol

Excess molar volumes (VEm) were measured at 288.15, 298.15, and 308.15 K and atmospheric pressure as a function of composition with a continuous dilution dilatometer for the binary mixtures of 1-propanol [CH3CH2CH2OH] with glymes [CH3O(CH2CH2O)mCH3, m=1,2,3, and 4]. With these results and other thermodynamic data from the literature, the following mixing quantities have been reported over the complete range of concentration or at equimolar concentration: α, volume expansivity; αE, excess volume expansivity; (∂VEm/∂T)P, and (∂HE/∂P)T at 298.15 K. The Prigogine–Flory–Patterson theory (PFP) of liquid mixtures has been applied to estimate interaction, free-volume, and internal-pressure contributions to VEm and to estimate the different mixing quantities for the mixtures. The calculated values using the PFP theory were then compared at 298.15 K with the experimentally obtained results. The PFP theory predicts excess volume VEm values rather well, while the calculated value of (∂VEm/∂T)P and (∂HE/∂P)T by using the Flory theory show general variation with the chain length of the glyme. The (∂VEm/∂T)P and (∂HE/∂P)T show deviations between theoretical and experimental values that are slightly larger in systems with lower glyme.

Adsorption Studies of Europium on Manganese Dioxide from Aqueous Sulphuric Acid and 1-Propanol Mixtures

The adsorption of europium on to manganese dioxide from binary mixtures of 1-propanol with aqueous sulphuric acid has been studied as a function of the concentration of the aqueous and organic component. The composition of those mixtures from which maximum and minimum adsorption could be obtained has been determined. The influence of cations and anions has also been studied. Chromate, fluoride, citrate, EDTA, CrIII, AlIII, FeIII, PbII and AgI reduce adsorption appreciably in these mixtures. The adsorption of several other metal ions has also been measured under specific conditions to determine the selectivity of manganese dioxide. Europium and some other metal ions can be separated from elements such as mercury, zinc, etc. which show very low adsorption on manganese dioxide from these binary mixtures.

Conductometric study on sodium perchlorate and sodium benzoate in binary mixtures of 1-propanol + water at 298.15 K

The electrolytic conductivities of NaClO 4 and C 6 H 5 COONa have been measured in binary mixtures of water with 1-propanol up to 41 mol % 1-propanol at 298.15 K. The limiting molar conductivities and association constants were derived from the data using the Fuoss (1978-80) conductance equation. The results are discussed in terms of solvent composition

Ultrasonic Relaxation in Alcohol Water Mixtures

Additional measurements of the excess ultrasonic absorption have been made in binary mixtures of 1-propanol with water and tetriary butyl alcohol with water. Contrary to earlier expectation the relaxation spectra is much broader than that previously reported. Measurements of α/f2 did not approach a limiting low-frequency value even for frequencies as low as 1.0 MHz. The theory of Romanov and Solovyev, which assumes that the excess absorption is due to concentration fluctuations, still seems to predict the observed broad frequency dependence. Further low-frequency absorption measurements are being undertaken using the resonant-cavity technique and preliminary results are discussed.
