Using the Eliashberg equations we calculate the fluctuation contributions to the specific heat and the diamagnetic susceptibility above T c in the electron-phonon system. The superconducting fluctuations in the Eliashberg model are enhanced by the factor ( 1 + 3λ 2 ) for λ ⪡ 1 and about ( 3 2 ) (1 + λ) for λ ⪢ 1 in comparison with the corresponding BCS and GL results, the temperature dependences being the same. The retardation of the electron attraction via phonons is the reasons why GL functional fails to describe the fluctuations in strong coupled superconductors.
