They evaluate their patients on the basis of their symptoms and promptly institute therapy based on their clinical impression.Their study examined whether advising physicians that “a BNP [B-type natriuretic peptide] level less than 100 ng/L made the diagnosis of heart failure unlikely, whereas a BNP level greater than 500 ng/L made heart failure likely,” would alter management of those patients (1).
