Intelligent information system for automatic generation of symbols in the APP-6D standard

Military symbols play a key role in the command and control of military forces. By communicating information that meets basic requirements, situational awareness can be quickly achieved; by its graphical nature, it provides a common operating language that greatly facilitates interaction across cultural and linguistic barriers. With the advent of information technology, the need arose for rapidly recognized international standards that could then be taught to computers. The fusion of high standard air, sea and land symbols on APP-6 paper resulted in Mil-Std-2525 and NATO APP-6D. This standard applies to all NATO ground components that are directly or partially involved in C4I operations, system operations, systems development and training in the context of NATO ground component operations. When designing and developing signs, composing their components, factors such as the ability to easily recognize signs, their legibility in different lighting conditions on a diverse cartographic basis, in different sizes and types of electronic screens with different degrees of physical and intellectual fatigue should be taken into account. The conventional signs standard concentrates signs for use in modern multi-chromatic electronic systems. At the same time, all signs can be used in monochrome systems and for freehand decoration. Development of this software will allow creating comfortable conditions for performing such actions as: create and edit tactical graphics of military symbols; ensuring compliance with all standards regarding the conditions of standardization of APP-6D; performing secure transmission of characters between multiple users. The object of the research is an automatic generator of conventional symbols in the tactical military standard APP-6D. The subject of the research is software for automatic generation of tactical symbols in the APP-6D standard. The aim of the work is to develop software that will automatically generate tactical insignia in the APP-6D standard. A comparative analysis of various methods for the development of such systems for generating symbols has been carried out. The project was being developed and it does not have a single equivalent in the Ukrainian language. Also, there are not a single desktop implementation. The project can be part of the software used by the Ukrainian military.

Automatic Algorithm Programming Model Based on the Improved Morgan's Refinement Calculus

The automatic algorithm programming model can increase the dependability and efficiency of algorithm program development, including specification generation, program refinement, and formal verification. However, the existing model has two flaws: incompleteness of program refinement and inadequate automation of formal verification. This paper proposes an automatic algorithm programming model based on the improved Morgan's refinement calculus. It extends the Morgan's refinement calculus rules and designs the C++ generation system for realizing the complete process of refinement. Meanwhile, the automation tools VCG (Verification Condition Generator) and Isabelle are used to improve the automation of formal verification. An example of a stock's maximum income demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed model. Furthermore, the proposed model has some relevance for automatic software generation.

Visibility Matrix: Efficient User Interface Modelling for Low-Code Development Platforms

In this paper, we introduce the idea of the ‘visibility matrix’ for automated data entry form generation in low-code development platforms. We then focus on the problem of software development productivity in the area of automated software generation as the main factor of the Industry 4.0 concept in the area of business information. In our study, two different approaches to user interface development in a business process management low-code platform were evaluated. The first, the multi-form model, assumes that input forms are prepared separately for each user task in the business process being automated. The second approach, the single-form model, assumes that there is one global input form for every task in the business process. Since users have access to different data in different process tasks, it is necessary to prepare the visibility matrix to define which data are relevant to which tasks. The experiments presented in this paper help to answer the following question: which approach yields better results in terms of productivity, which is measured as costs and time required to prepare the application? Several dozen real business processes were analysed to examine the properties of their visibility matrix. Additionally, the real project team members were evaluated to determine their productivity. Then, the productivity parameters were calculated for real business processes and real project teams. The results show which approach is better suited for real-world business process development.

Automated generation of molecular derivatives – DerGen software package

For the needs of machine-learning aided novel materials discovery, large databases containing various compounds and properties need to be constructed. One possible approach is to extract a large number of chemical structures from an existing database. Another approach relies on the generation of diverse positional isomers of a given parent structure by introducing different functional groups and varying their positions. The present work is focused on building a software for automatic generation of all non-redundant positional isomers of a parent structure to build or expand different datasets. An illustrative example is provided. The software package could be found at the repository https://github.com/carim2020/der-gen.

Three-Dimensional Modelling of Spatial Data in Urban Territory

The content of the research is divided into four points. The first part considers the need of 3D models creation - good practices applied in different countries related to Internet services for urban development and planning, preservation of cultural heritage, as well as scientific research. The second part focuses on the nature of 3D modeling, addressing theoretical issues concerning conceptual modeling, classification of three-dimensional models, geometry and topology. Different data formats are described. The third part focuses on an overview of the different 3D data sources and 3D modeling methods. The fourth part includes the description of a specific software for creating, editing and presenting 3D models - City Engine. The functionality, the specific possibilities for additional analysis and extraction of attribute information from the created models are described, as well as the programming language used in creating three-dimensional models in the software environment. In the fourth part, practical tasks are performed, which aim to make a comparison between the actual state of construction with the set project values in the general development plan for Sofia Municipality. 3D models of buildings in a neighbourhood in the Lozenets region were created, after which an additional analysis of the current state of construction was performed. The possibilities of the software for automatic generation of a street network are considered, as well as the functionality related to the modeling of facades.

Automatic recognition and representation of text in the form of audio stream

The problem of automatic speech generation from a text file is considered. An analytical review of the software has been completed. They are designed to recognize texts and convert them to an audio stream. The advantages and disadvantages of software products are estimated. Based on this, a conclusion was drawn about the relevance of developing a software for automatic generation of an audio stream from a text in Russian. Models based on artificial neural networks, which are used for speech synthesis, are analyzed. After that, a mathematical model of the created software is built. It consists of three components: a convolutional encoder, a convolutional decoder, and a transformer. The architecture of the software is designed. It includes a graphical interface, an application server, and a speech synthesis system. A number of algorithms have been developed: preprocessing text before loading it into a software, converting audio files of a training sample and training a network, generating speech based on arbitrary text files. A software has been created, which is a single-page application and has a web interface for interacting with the user. To assess the quality of the software, a metric was used that represents the average score of different opinions. As a result of the aggregation of different opinions, the metric received a sufficiently high value, on the basis of which it can be assumed that all the tasks have been solved.

Simulation-based design optimization of heat pump systems considering building variations

Heat pump systems (HPS) are a promising technology to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the building sector by low-emission heat supply. However, their market penetration is inhibited by lower costs of conventional technologies. Thus, heat pumps must become cheaper to purchase and operate. Investment costs are related to the design, while operating costs are related to operational efficiency. Although design and operation are mutually interdependent, they are considered separately in conventional design procedures. This disconnect prevents the full potential of the technology from being realized.In this contribution, we present a framework to simultaneously consider design and operation in one optimization step using a simulation-based optimization approach called HPS eOD Design. Based on a building heat demand, the framework optimizes annualized costs and emissions of heat pump systems considering the operational behaviour already in the design. By coupling the optimization program with a software for automatic generation of building models called TEASER, HPS eOD Design can be applied to a wide variety of building types and locations.Optimization results reveal that optimizing heat pump system sizing improves annualized costs and emissions for six examined buildings by up to 8.2% in costs and 12.7% in emissions compared to sizings derived by the conventional design procedure VDI4645. To exploit even further potential, the integration of operational optimization within the design is highly recommended. In addition, a more detailed modeling approach of the building should be implemented in HPS eOD Design. Both measures lead to an acceleration of the building sector defossilization.

Generation of a tree-like support structure for fused deposition modelling based on the L-system and an octree

To address the contradiction between support stability and material savings in fused deposition modelling, a tree-like support structure generation method based on the Lindenmayer system (L-system) and an octree is proposed. First, an initial tree-like support structure is generated according to the principle of the L-system. Furthermore, the intersection data of the tree-like rays and the mesh surface model are obtained rapidly by taking advantage of the octree data structure. Finally, a pruning operation is performed by establishing the topological relationship of the tree-like structure. Then, automatic generation software is developed for support structures, and 3D printing experiments are carried out. Simulation and experimental results show that compared with typical commercial software, the proposed method can generate stable supports that are easy to remove and require less time and material.

Document-Based Programming System for Seamless Linking of Satellite Onboard Software and Ground Operating System

In satellites, onboard software is required to perform complicated mission sequences and autonomous scheduling, conduct preliminary data processing, and manage various onboard devices. The dependability of onboard software strongly affects the reliability of a satellite itself. Therefore, the onboard software must be both complex and reliable to perform complicated small satellite missions. We propose an automatic software generator to meet these requirements. This generates onboard software and a database for the ground operating system using satellite development documents, such as command and telemetry definition documents and fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR) definition documents. By using this software generator, the software development load can be reduced and human error can be avoided, even if the definitions are modified in an ad hoc manner during the development process. The generator additionally enables the easy accommodation of user preferences and software depth variation during a mission.

Ontology Driven Approach to Generate Distributed Automation Control From Substation Automation Design

This paper proposes a method for the automatic generation of smart-grid automation systems software from specifications that includes physical system layout and domain-specific functional “recipes.” The generated software has component organization and implements a decentralized approach to smart grid control, which reduces complexity of automation systems design and modification. The proposed method relies on synergies of two industrial standards IEC 61850 and IEC 61499, which are used to represent a part of the specification and the resulting software model, respectively. Then, the specification model is created in a form of ontology and the generation is based on ontology transformation. The proposed method requires an extension to the Semantic Web Rule Language (SWRL) to support the change of an ontology axioms set for the purpose of ontology transformation. The proposed transformation language, called extended SWRL, is introduced and illustrated in use. The result shows the viability of eSWRL as an ontology transformation language when demonstrated in a power distribution case study system.

The method of using current regulations and standards in designing management and technologies of construction

Economic efficiency of using funds in construction of buildings and structures begins from an effective, proper design, which is based on modern, cutting-edge, advanced equipment, streamlined organization and process solutions of construction operations. In the light of this it is considered application of “Self-Organization and Technology of Building” multifunctional software package capable of solving various engineering tasks on designing management of construction operations in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations in view of using software for automatic generation of workflow. Implementing this software in the construction management processes may help to solve management tasks at the construction site.

Software Engineering Approaches for Designing Knowledge based Systems: A Survey

In our daily engagement with technology we interact with software in many aspects, rendering software engineering field a very robust area with a lot of dynamism. In this paper we have comprehensively surveyed on software engineering approaches for designing knowledge based systems. First we looked at knowledge based systems in detail, then at software engineering basics, and finally match the various software engineering approaches that have been used in the field of knowledge based systems in the current research and surveys. Some of the current approaches in knowledge approaches that we surveyed include: case-based approach, software reuse approach, Model driven software engineering approaches, ontology based approach, Open metadata approach, cloud based approach, agile approach, Traditional integration approach, Automatic software generation code approach, process based approach, and the Knowledge based system approach.

A study of the low-temperature oxidation of a long chain aldehyde: n-hexanal

Large aldehydes are important species among the oxygenated products formed during the oxidation of fuels (e.g. alkanes or alkenes) and biofuels (e.g. long chain alcohols), but their oxidation chemistry has been scarcely studied up to now. In this work, a study of the oxidation of hexanal has been performed in a jet-stirred reactor over the temperature range 475–1100K, at a residence time of 2s, a pressure of 106.7kPa, an inlet fuel mole fraction of 0.005 and at three equivalence ratios (0.25, 1 and 2). Reaction products were quantified using two analytical methods: gas chromatography and cw-cavity ring-down spectroscopy. In addition to species usually measured during oxidation study (such as CO, CO2, water, H2O2 and C1-C3 olefins, aldehydes and ketones), specific low temperature oxidation species were also observed: C6 species, such as δ- and γ-caprolactones and hexanoic acid, but also C5 species, such as 2-methyl-tetrahydrofuran and pentanal which are typical reaction products detected during the oxidation of n-pentane. A detailed kinetic model has been developed using an automatic generation software. This model was used to highlight the specificities of the oxidation chemistry of long chain aldehydes and to understand the formation routes of the C5 and C6 low-temperature oxidation products. Simulations indicate that the low energy of the aldehyde CH bond has a significant effect on the fuel reactivity and on the distribution of reaction products.

Development and Application of Online Courseware for English Teaching

Since the second decade of the 21st century, the rapid development of computer information technology promoted the internet use throughout society. We are now in an era in which life and learning are closely intertwined with the internet. In Western Europe, the United States, and other developed countries, teaching activities by online multimedia and offline technology have been long implemented. However, local online automatic generation software is inflicted with many issues, particularly, with the inability to meet the most student needs. Hence, we developed a new online courseware generation system to address this problem. After testing, the system functioned effectively, and the educational effect enhanced significantly.

Construction of Autoignition Mechanisms for the Combustion of RP-3 Surrogate Fuel and Kinetics Simulation

According to a component analysis of RP3 aviation kerosene and eight surrogate models′ comparative data, a surrogate model comprising n-dodecane/1,3,5-trimethylcyclohecane/n-propylbenzene (73.0%/14.7%/12.3%, mass fraction) was obtained. A detailed mechanism for the combustion of RP-3 surrogate fuel at high temperature was developed using an automatic generation software package, ReaxGen. Ignition delay times simulated using this mechanism were compared with experimental data. A detailed mechanism was reduced by adopting rate-of-production analysis and approximate trajectory optimization algorithm (ATOA) reduced methods. Finally, the sensitivity of ignition delay time was analyzed under conditions of different equivalent ratios and pressures using the reduced mechanism. Differences in key reactions contributing to the ignition delay time were identified at different equivalent ratios. The results indicate that our mechanisms can characterize the ignition delay time during combustion of RP-3 kerosene at high temperature.

Model-driven engineering of Manufacturing Automation Software Projects – A SysML-based approach

This paper comprises a SysML-based approach to support the model-driven engineering (MDE) of Manufacturing Automation Software Projects (MASP). The Systems Modeling Language (SysML) is adapted to define the SysML-AT (SysML for automation), a specialized language profile that covers (non-)functional requirements, corresponding software applications and properties of proprietary hardware components. Furthermore, SysML-AT supports an automated software generation for run-time environments conforming to IEC 61131-3. A prototypical tool support was realized for adapted SysML Parametric Diagrams (PD) inside an industrial automation software development tool. Coupling the model editor and online data from the provided run-time environment enables direct debugging inside the model. The approach was evaluated by several case studies and additional usability experiments. With the latter, the suitability of the MDE approach for future users was proven.

The Application of Automatic Code Generation Technology in the Development of the Automotive Electronics Software

Aiming at the present state of software development of the Automotive electronics system, the Simulink/Stateflow of Matlab and the code generation tool Targetlink were applied to realize the modeling and simulation of system and code automatic generation of the Automotive electronics software. An example of the software development of automobile anti-theft alarm system was implemented by requirement analysis, system modeling, simulation test and code generation.

Development of New Photogrammetric Software for High Quality Geo-Products and Its Performance Assessment

In this paper, we introduce a newly developed photogrammetric software for automatic generation of high quality geo-products and its performance assessment carried out using various satellite images. Our newly developed software provides the latest techniques of an optimized sensor modelling, ortho-image generation and automated Digital Elevation Model (DEM) generation for diverse remote sensing images. In particular, images from dual- and multi-sensor images can be integrated for 3D mapping. This can be a novel innovation toward a wider applicability of remote sensing data, since 3D mapping has been limited within only single-sensor so far. We used Kompsat-2, Ikonos, QuickBird, Spot-5 high resolution satellite images to test an accuracy of 3D points and ortho-image generated by the software. Outputs were assessed by comparing reliable reference data. From various sensor combinations 3D mapping were implemented and their accuracy was evaluated using independent check points. Model accuracy of 1~2 pixels or better was achieved regardless of sensor combination type. The high resolution ortho-image results are consistent with the reference map on a scale of 1:5,000 after being rectified by the software and an accuracy of 1~2 pixels could be achieved through quantitative assessment. The developed software offers efficient critical geo-processing modules of various remote sensing images and it is expected that the software can be widely used to meet the demand on the high-quality geo products.

Research on Automatic Generation Technology of Structural Net and Speed Diagram

In view of the teaching problems and difficulties of machinery manufacturing equipment design, the automatic generation technology of structural net and speed diagram was proposed. The conceptions and characteristics of structural formula, structural net and speed diagram were discussed. The expected targets of the automatic generation technology were put forward. The technical principles of automatically generating structural net and speed diagram were respectively analyzed. Based on these, the automatic generation software of structural net and speed diagram was designed and developed. The development environment and implementation methods of the software were proposed. It is proved that the software can play an important role in improving the teaching effect and quality.

Mechanism Construction and Simulation for the High-Temperature Combustion of <em>n</em>-Dodecane

Using automatic generation software for hydrocarbon oxidation mechanisms,a detailed mechanism for the high-temperature combustion of n-dodecane was developed.A semi-detailed mechanism consisting of 202 species and 738 reactions was obtained by rate-of-production analysis while a skeletal mechanism including 53 species and 228 reactions was obtained using path flux analysis.Both the semi-detailed mechanism and the skeletal mechanism were validated by comparing simulation results including the ignition delay time,high-temperature pyrolysis,and the laminar flame speed with experiments.The current mechanism generation method and the generated semi-detailed and skeletal mechanisms for n-dodecane should be useful in computational fluid dynamics simulations.Finally,the major reaction pathways of n-dodecane oxidation and the important reactions in the ignition process were investigated by reaction path analysis and sensitivity analysis,respectively.
