This study has been a continuation of the work started by F. C. Lanning and P. C. Twiss (3). They determined the vertical variations of CaO, MgO, K0O, Mn, ignition loss, and acetic acid insoluble residue in the Cottonwood Limestone bed in Riley County, Kansas. Emission flame photometry was used to determine CaO, MgO, and KO0. Previous to their work most of the analysis of limestone had been done on composite samples (channel analysis).
