The protein quality in peas is influenced by both intrinsic factors like amino acid composition and spatial conformations and extrinsic factors including growth and processing conditions. The existing literature substantiates that the structural modulation and optimization of functional, organoleptic, and nutritional attributes of pea proteins can be obtained through a combination of chemical, physical, and enzymatic approaches, resulting in superior protein ingredients. This review underscores recent methodologies in pea protein extraction aimed at enhancing yield and functionality for diverse food systems and also delineates existing research gaps related to mitigating off-flavor issues in pea proteins. A comprehensive examination of conventional dry and wet methods is provided, in conjunction with environmentally friendly approaches like ultrafiltration and enzyme-assisted techniques. Additionally, the innovative application of hydrodynamic cavitation technology in protein extraction is explored, focusing on its prospective role in flavor amelioration. This overview offers a nuanced understanding of the advancements in pea protein extraction methods, catering to the interests of varied stakeholders in the field.

Towards BIM-Based Sustainable Structural Design Optimization: A Systematic Review and Industry Perspective

Structural design optimization (SDO) plays a pivotal role in enhancing various aspects of construction projects, including design quality, cost efficiency, safety, and structural reliability. Recent endeavors in academia and industry have sought to harness the potential of building information modeling (BIM) and optimization algorithms to optimize SDO and improve design outcomes. This review paper aims to synthesize these efforts, shedding light on how SDO contributes to project coordination. Furthermore, the integration of sustainability considerations and the application of innovative technologies and optimization algorithms in SDO necessitate more interactive early stage collaboration among project stakeholders. This study offers a comprehensive exploration of contemporary research in integrated SDO employing BIM and optimization algorithms. It commences with an exploratory investigation, employing both qualitative and quantitative analysis techniques following the PRISMA systematic review methodology. Subsequently, an open-ended opinion survey was conducted among construction industry professionals in Europe. This survey yields valuable insights into the coordination challenges and potential solutions arising from technological shifts and interoperability concerns associated with the widespread implementation of SDO. These preliminary steps of systematic review and industry survey furnish a robust foundation of knowledge, enabling the proposal of an intelligent framework for automating early stage sustainable structural design optimization (ESSDO) within the construction sector. The ESSDO framework addresses the challenges of fragmented collaboration between architects and structural engineers. This proposed framework seamlessly integrates with the BIM platform, i.e., Autodesk Revit for architects. It extracts crucial architectural data and transfers it to the structural design and analysis platform, i.e., Autodesk Robot Structural Analysis (RSA), for structural engineers via the visual programming tool Dynamo. Once the optimization occurs, optimal outcomes are visualized within BIM environments. This visualization elevates interactive collaborations between architects and engineers, facilitating automation throughout the workflow and smoother information exchange.

Application of innovative technologies in increasing the efficiency of irrigated land use

The article emphasizes the importance of the wide application of innovative and resource-saving technologies in practice in crop irrigation systems. The current situation in the water sector of the economy requires a radical improvement of the state's water management policy. The country is struggling to adapt to the new market conditions of agricultural management. Therefore, the management of the system remains difficult, water users are not interested in rational use of water, the technical condition of water management and hydro-reclamation systems is deteriorating, huge areas of irrigated land are out of economic circulation. Emerging problems in the water sector reduce the competitiveness of agricultural products and lead to high costs for the production of crop production. Therefore, it has been established that the issues of effective and rational use of land and water resources currently belong to the most important problem of socio-economic development of society. This is due to the fact that the food security of any state and the standard of living of its population are directly related to these factors. In order to solve the problem, the main available resources were proposed, that is, ways to use land and water resources with maximum productivity and efficiency, increase irrigated land in agriculture and save irrigation water. To analyze the factors influencing the efficiency indicators of total irrigation costs, a correlation and regression analysis of the usefulness of cotton products was carried out.

Modeling and Forecasting of Production an Agricultural Product

Purpose: The purpose of the research is to analyze the dynamics of agricultural production, to determine the effect of different parameters on the result of production with the help of an econometric model, and to enforce production forecasting. Methods: The data of the Statistical Committee of the Azerbaijan Republic for the last 15 years were used in the research. According to the obtained data, using the EXSEL software package, the dependence between the production of agricultural products and affecting factors was determined with the help of economic-mathematical methods, and the expected change tendency of production was defined with the help of programming methods. Results: Increasing the production of agricultural products is currently maintaining its relevance both in terms of meeting the necessary raw material needs of the country, as well as solving the food problem and eliminating dependence on imports. Possible prospects for solving these problems require the application of innovative agricultural technologies to production, effective use of fertilizers, land, human resources and investments, taking into account the factors affecting production. Optimizing the mentioned factors leads to the achievement of high productivity, which is the basis of production growth, ensuring the most complete use of resource potential in agriculture. From this point of view, the modeling of production through economic-mathematical methods is possible to determine the quantitative relationship between product production and the factors affecting it, to optimize and predict the use of resources based on the obtained production function. Conclusion: It gives an opportunity to evaluate the effect of those factors on the dynamics of production in quantitative terms by comprehensively investigating the factors affecting production in agriculture, which is considered quite a risky field. At the same time, the methodology utilized provides a foundation for figuring out more effective methods of using production resources, allowing for the prediction of future changes that might take place in production.

MODERN ARCHITECTURAL FORMATION AND 3D PRINTING OF RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS

The article is devoted to the analysis and research of modern practical experience of designing residential objects in the urban environment. The conceptual foundations of the architectural design of modern residential buildings and complexes are considered. Features of modern architectural form-making and 3-D printing of residential objects are determined. It was determined that the architectural concepts of modern residential objects should be built based on the connection of several directions (ecology, urban planning, architecture of buildings and structures with the introduction of landscape design tools) and methods of modern shaping. It has been established that the shaping of modern residential objects is a process of implementing the design model of the building, which includes the choice of assembling form elements and subsystems of the building into a single system. It has been established that the architectural design of modern residential objects is based on the requirements and methods of creation that include: the algorithm of the process of forming the shape of a modern residential building, the interaction of subsystems of a residential building, the selection of the dominant subsystem with its reflection on the external form of the building, the type of basic form, the characteristic methods of forming the shape of a modern residential building, the compositional interaction between the elements of the architectural form of a modern residential building. The article pays attention to the modern theory of architectural space. The authors outline the ways of system improvement of modern residential buildings in the future. The impact of the latest technologies on the main parameters of modern residential objects has been revealed. Four directions of development of modern residential buildings and complexes in the urban environment in the future have been identified. These directions are related to the application of innovative technologies, new building materials, functional intensification of the infrastructure of the residential environment, creation of multifunctional residential objects, development of large-scale characteristics of buildings, use of natural components in the architectural design of modern residential objects. Prospective techniques for improving the formation of local residential units are defined. A virtual reality intervention to improve formal caregivers’ understanding of community-dwelling people with dementia: a pilot study

Background: The optimum approach to enhance the understanding toward dementia is to experience how patients feel as they experience the manifestations of the disease. The application of virtual reality (VR) and relevant innovative technologies for developing caregiver training programs allows caregivers to better understand dementia and empathize with patients. Objectives: To develop a VR-based experiential training course on individualized care for the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD). Methods: The participants were caregivers of patients with dementia. They assessed the usability of the VR product after the intervention and the VR experience as a preliminary measure of the effectiveness of the intervention using a usability scale and a self-reported appraisal scale, respectively. Results and Conclusion: Ten in-service and in-home caregivers completed the VR training course. The course yielded a usability score of 74.06 points, indicating excellent usability. The content validity index (CVI) of the self-reported VR experience appraisal scale ranged from 0.8–1, scale-level CVI was 0.81, and reliability (Cronbach’s α) was 0.929. The mean score of the overall scale was 4.67 ± 0.33. These findings suggest that the VR-based experiential training course enabled the home caregivers to deepen their understanding of the BPSD shown by community-dwelling patients and, therefore, to provide better care services. The course developed in this study is the first VR course directed toward dementia care in Taiwan. Given its excellent usability, as well as the effectiveness of the VR experience appraisal scale for deepening the caregivers’ skills in managing patients’ BPSD symptoms, the course can be promoted and applied in caregiver training programs for dementia in the future.

Among these, digital learning platforms and remote teaching provide user-friendly learning environments; interactive software renders medical humanities courses more dynamic and engaging; mixed reality technology enables simulation of clinical skill training; the integration of digital scanning and artificial intelligence offers objective assessment capabilities; non-invasive optical techniques provide in-depth tissue information, applicable to both chair-side teaching and diagnostics; and 3D printing technology allows for the creation of customized educational materials aligned with instructional objectives. Looking towards the future, the innovative integration of information technology into digital dentistry could establish digital twin models, furnishing a high-quality environment for pre-clinical dental training. Smart farming application using knowledge embedded-graph convolutional neural network (KEGCNN) for banana quality detection

The appearance of fruits is crucial in their quality grading and consumer choices. Colour, texture, size, and shape determine fruit quality. Existing computer vision systems have been implemented for external quality control, relying on observations for fruit grading and classification. Banana quality detection systems, which employ advanced algorithms and sensors to evaluate the ripeness and general quality of bananas throughout their life cycle, are an innovative application of smart farming technology. In this proposed system, Knowledge Embedded-Graph Convolutional Neural Networks (KEGCNNs) are employed to classify and grade banana fruit. The approach aims to detect banana fruit quality by converting banana images into a knowledge graph, applying knowledge embedding to transform them into a continuous vector space, and using Graph Convolution Neural Networks (GCNNs) to analyze the graph structure and make accurate detections. KEGCNNs are especially useful for detecting the quality of banana fruits because they provide a form for capturing the contextual interactions between distinct nodes. KEGCNNs can learn from the data within the graph in an unsupervised manner, allowing them to use the knowledge inherent in the graph structure. KEGCNNs enable more accurate and efficient diagnosis of banana quality as they can discover patterns in data that conventional machine learning algorithms cannot. The suggested technique demonstrates an impressive performance score, indicating its suitability for detecting the quality or grade of banana fruit.

Exploring UAE's transition towards circular economy through construction and demolition waste management in the pre-construction stage–A case study approach

PurposeThis paper aims to explore UAE's transition towards circular economy (CE) through construction and demolition waste (CDW) management in the pre-construction stage. The extent of circularity is assessed by five key aspects of CE, such as policies and strategic frameworks, design for waste prevention, design for disassembly or deconstruction, use of prefabricated elements and CDW management plans.Design/methodology/approachMultiple case studies were conducted in the context of the Dubai construction industry (UAE). Three significant and unique construction projects were selected as the cases. Semi-structured interviews were carried out to collect data, and the thematic analysis technique and NVIVO 12 software were used for data analysis.FindingsFindings reveal several positive initiatives towards CE in the UAE context; yet it is identified that the transition is still at the initial stage. Selected case studies, the best-case scenarios of UAE (i.e. influential cases), demonstrated adequate measures in relation to four key CE aspects out of five. For instance, (a) policies and strategic frameworks such as lean standards, green building standards and standards developed by the local authorities, (b) design for waste prevention (e.g. adherence to the 3R principle, and construction planning with BIM), (c) use of prefabricated elements and application of innovative construction technologies (e.g. 3DPC, DfMA) and (d) CDW management planning such as 3R principle were evident. However, the selected cases hardly showcase designing for disassembly or deconstruction.Research limitations/implicationsThe existing CDW practices are mostly conventional, as most constructions in UAE are procured through conventional building materials and methods. Therefore, there is a necessity of encouraging CE principles in CDW management. Even though the transition towards CE was evident in four key CE aspects out of five, the UAE construction industry has yet to adopt more effective CE-based CDW management practices to accelerate the circularity. Hence, it is necessary to enforce standard waste management guidelines, including the 3R principle, to standardise CDW management in UAE and encourage construction practitioners to adhere to CE principles.Originality/valueThe findings of this study provide valuable insights for decision-making processes around CDW management towards a CE. This paper contributes to the literature by bridging the CE concept with CDW management in the pre-construction stage. The study provides insights for industry practitioners for planning CE in terms of policies and strategic frameworks, CDW management planning, construction planning and application of innovative construction technologies.

Single-valued neutrosophic dynamic aggregation information with time sequence preference for IoT technology in supply chain management

The Internet of thing (IoT) is a global platform for connecting intelligent objects over the Internet. It facilitates the integration of the “supply chain (SC)” and “information and communication technology (ICT)” infrastructures inside a company and with its vendors and clients. The “supply chain management (SCM)” is presently required if a firm wishes to keep up with the rapid evolution of its consumers’ needs. Several research has demonstrated that manufacturing companies must expedite the transition of their attention to sustainable development and the application of innovative technologies, such as IoT, in order to achieve their organizational objectives most efficiently. This study intends to examine the IoT’s applicability in SCM and assess the most popular IoT systems. The difficulty of identifying the best suitable IoT system is dependent on a multitude of variables, which are sometimes stated as incomplete and unreliable estimations. In order to reach an outcome, this paper proposes a multi-criteria paradigm for IoT solution selection in a single-valued neutrosophic environment. Single-valued neutrosophic set (SiVNS) is a strong model to address uncertain information in terms of three membership functions, namely indeterminacy, truthfulness, and falsity. The goal of this study is to introduce some dynamic single-valued neutrosophic aggregation operators (AOs) for multi-period decision-making problems that involve uncertain single-valued neutrosophic information. We develop novel Einstein AOs named as “dynamic single-valued neutrosophic Einstein weighted averaging (DSiVNEWA) operator and dynamic single-valued neutrosophic Einstein weighted geometric (DSiVNEWG) operator”. Several characteristics of the suggested AOs are investigated. Additionally, we develop a multi-stage dynamic decision analysis utilizing ideal solutions. To illustrate the proposed technique, a numerical example is presented. Comparison and authenticity analyses are conducted to ascertain the efficacy and superiority of the suggested multi-stage dynamic decision analysis in the practical situation.

This paper explores the innovative application of virtual reality technology in the field of interior design, with a special focus on the integration of Dunhuang elements in design practices. By combining virtual reality technology with Dunhuang art, a novel paradigm for interior design is proposed, blending ancient murals, patterns, and colors with modern computer graphics technology, infusing spaces with a unique historical charm and cultural significance. From the perspectives of virtual reality technology, inheritance of Dunhuang artistic elements, Dunhuang-style spatial design based on virtual reality, user experience, and emotional resonance, this paper delves into an in-depth exploration. Its aim is to expand innovative paths within interior design, while simultaneously providing new ideas and methods for cultural heritage and spatial perception domains.

ACTIVATION OF SCIENTIFIC CIRCLES IN THE NEW UKRAINIAN SCHOOL

In the article, the author presents a set of pedagogical conditions for the activation of scientific circles in a new Ukrainian school as a holistic process that involves the implementation of a set of pedagogical conditions: the development of an innovative model of the organization of a scientific circle; a comprehensive approach in the application of forms of student involvement in search and research work; involvement of librarians in the conduct of scientific circle classes; application of innovative and developmental technologies, which are focused on the formation of students' ability for scientific and research work; digitalization of the work of the scientific circle. The science club at the school will be interpreted as an association of purposeful students (mostly high school students), which creates a creative and developmental scientific environment by initiating and implementing successful projects aimed at supporting the latest scientific ideas, innovations and knowledge exchange. It was found out that the pedagogical result of the exchange of scientific activities of the circle participants is the transformations that occur in the student's personality under the influence of the scientific research activity performed by him, that is, the share of independence of the student's personality, which is formed in the plane of this form of work, increases.

Research advances of advanced glycation end products in milk and dairy products: Formation, determination, control strategy and immunometabolism via gut microbiota.

Advanced glycosylation end products (AGEs) are a series of complex compounds which generate in the advanced phase of Maillard reaction, which can pose a non-negligible risk to human health. This article systematically encompasses AGEs in milk and dairy products under different processing conditions, influencing factors, inhibition mechanism and levels among the different categories of dairy products. In particular, it describes the effects of various sterilization techniques on the Maillard reaction. Different processing techniques have a significant effect on AGEs content. In addition, it clearly articulates the determination methods of AGEs and even discusses its immunometabolism via gut microbiota. It is observed that the metabolism of AGEs can affect the composition of the gut microbiota, which further has an impact on intestinal function and the gut-brain axis. This research also provides a suggestion for AGEs mitigation strategies, which are beneficial to optimize the dairy production, especially innovative processing technology application.
